I was gonna hold off on sharing them, but I it's been a while since my last devlog so I wanted to show some progress for Ch.2 and even beyond. Really thinking about making these into stickers for my water bottle tbh...
Actual devlog under the cut!
I'm working on NPCs you can speak to in point and click sections, backgrounds, and plugging in the draft for Ch.2 from the novel. I'm starting with the neighbors since they're faster to get done. These are just two of the many neighbors you'll be speaking to as Luana romps around the city-one is a (salt)water spirit, the other is a sylph modeled after a honeycreeper.
Neighbors use mimicry as a back-up defense for when the veil/their glamour fails them. That way, even if a mortal can pierce the veil/their glamour, they can pass for a normal animal if they sit still enough or pose a specific way. Neighbors are actually a vital part of ecosystems, acting as pollinators and even water purifiers, so they're almost like animals in that way anyway.
Oh yeah, and the veil mechanic works. Yay! I'd love to show it off, but the gif is too big.

i had warned you. patho equestrian au image dump with elusive lore.
all competition outfits were made to be FEI guidelines-compliant (except for the Yulia's Hunter, which is not regulated by the FEI, which complies to the standards of Hunter/Equitation competitions regulatory bodies i could find), and if they're not it's not on purpose and will ask you to pretend they are.
characters that are not depicted in this imageset i either do not see as pivotal or even accessory to this AU OR i just didn't want to draw them because i'd like to. do something else with my life eventually. as it were.
this au takes place exactly where it takes place. typically western/american sporting disciplines such as barrel racing, calf roping, rodeo, [...] are not included in this au because these disciplines are not widely exported outside of its north-american birthplace, go figure, as they are historically anchored in the cattle herding and ranching traditions of vaqueros and cowboys on the great northern american plains, and depend of a historical, political, anthropological and geographical context that was not replicated in europe or asia (because we have our own things). Exception is made for Yulia's Hunter/Equitation competition, as Hunter/Equitation is a sporting discipline itself based on westen european (typically british) upper-class horseback fox-hunting traditions, so it's a "what goes around comes around" type of deal. also isn't she dapper lol.
a horse's height is measured at the withers, which is the ridge between their shoulder blades, appearing as a bump between their neck and back, just behind which the saddle is put, so if a horse's height appears "small" for a big animal, it's because the length of the neck is not counted in that height.

Tragedians are one of my favourite metanarrative aspects of Pathologic; the tutorials presented as the stagehands observing the production, commenting and advising! It's clever, but that's apropos for Pathologic anyway, I think 😉 These three are in my shop here if you'd like to take one home with you! Even if you can't nab one this time consider following my shop to see updates 💝

May 5 is the Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People. (Also known as Red Dress Day.)
Show your support and pass on your strength by wearing red on May 5, and raising awareness. And if you have never read the Reclaiming Power and Place report, you can do so here.
Additionally, while the day is typically centred in Turtle Island, let us also not forget our international cousins, especially in Palestine and Sudan.

When South Africa dismantled apartheid, it did not end with the expulsion of all white South Africans. They became part of the new South Africa, just without the criminal discriminatory oligarchic powers the apartheid goverment had. When Bolivia recognized its indigenous heritage and became a plurinational state, it did not mean that people of European descent were expelled in masse. It meant the recognition of the previously discriminated indigenous and mestizo people of Bolivia and the beginning of a path of integration and revalidation.
What I mean is that it's ridiculous to think that decolonization inherently means mass suffering and relocation, that's what colonization does. Decolonization is recognizing the crimes of colonization, but more importantly, material, political and social steps to give power and self-determination to the exploited native people who were victims of colonialism and imperialism.
In multicultural societies, you don't go like in that Peter Griffin meme with a skin tone chart and saying 'well, you go back to Europe, you go back to Africa, you stay here'. You build a new society on the paradigm of dignity for exploited people and equality under the law. People are acting like this is some sort of fantastic utopia instead of real initiatives that were done in living memory, with successes and failures, as all such initiatives have. One must ask why are some so insistent that multicultural societies can't thrive, especially when for most of history, societies were indeed like that. Consider why you think like that.

I prefer sculpting and sewing my dolls from scratch but I'm still a fan of Monster High. I had a second-hand Abbey doll that needed a little work so I restyled her hair and gave her a little repaint, just for fun. She has such a beautiful face sculpt 😍
