So, I know nothing of this show but the very idea of it make it bad. It’s bad for the simple reason that it is a waste. A waste of time, a waste of resources, a waste of everything that could be put into it.

See, while I love GoW 2018, wee need to admit that this game was basically a movie game. The fighting was great, the mechanics fresh, but the amount of character development, back and side storied and cinematics make it basically a 30 to 40h long movie game. And in this one, they’ve put everything that they could and needed to put.

So with a game exploring the entirety of the story, and multiple way to experience this story, some of them being free (let’s plays and walkthroughs), what use would a series based on the exact story would be ? None, that’s what.

Now, if in the end they decide to abord a different part of the story, then there is a chance. We don’t know how exactly Kratos ended up in Midgard, nor do we know how he met Faye and how was their relationship in the beginning. GoW 2018 and Ragnarök also have a 3 years long time skip with stories you could tell in it. None of that would assure that the show would end up good, but that would be an already better start.

just heard the amazon live action god of war show has been confirmed, not super happy about it. a) live action adaptations ew b) apparently they’re just remaking the 2018 game like huh??? if you MUST make a god of war show do something we haven’t seen, like kratos arriving in midgard or something in greece! even with cory barlog as an exec producer i can’t imagine this turning out good

i mean i’m happy to proved wrong but i somehow doubt i will. i feel like people think that live action is an upgrade from animation, that having it with ‘real’ actors and ‘real’ sets (even though everything will presumably be CGI) makes it a valid, ‘serious’ story. sorry to sound like a cranky grandma, i genuinely hope it’s not as bad as i’m assuming it will be but my expectations are on the floor rn

I remember that last scene,

MF saw a meteor the size a freaking city and said "SQUARE UP ASSHOLE!!!!"

I think asura is currently my favorite angry strong kill man bc like the next closest in anger is kratos or maybe scorpion but both of them are literally ten times smarter than Asura. Like kratos is a general, a leader of armies, who solves puzzles the size of a billionaire's third house and Scorpion is the(former) leader of a clan, and managed to get out of his own head enough to calm down(sorta).

But Asura? Dipshit. Stupid motherfucker. He knows nothing except punch and hit and yell and grow arms and love daughter. He's had his memory wiped and his actions before and after regaining his memory are the exact same. He literally screams and dies around the whole game he just sorta redirects his anger at more and more powerful beings until he dies. A plot point is his brother in law trying to reason with him before he gives up and kills Asura again. He technically was a "general" but he led armies only in the sense that he ran in front of them to the fight.

I wanna put him in a box and shake him around for the same reason kids put salt on snails. The last scene in the game is him 870 million years after the fact after being reincarnated raising his arms to a meteor. Dumbass<3idiot<333

Meh, I'm not too fond about comparing them. They where both bratty but for completely different reasons. TL;DR at the end.

Baldur became crazy, both from Freya's curse and Odin's influence over him. He was an incredibly powerful guy, which is why Kratos had to do so much just to get him to chill out and stop fighting. Kratos was also ready to let him go, but Baldur forfeited that by being unable to let go of his rage. To him, to let go of the rage meant to forgive, and he could never do that. He had to kill his mother or die trying. And Kratos would not let another child of god kill their parent.

Meanwhile HEIMDALL, is in a different situations. Because of his power to read people and the fact that he was given such high position, he gain a weird sort of superiority complex where he his overzealous over one person (Odin) and see anyone else as trash (even Thor and possibly Baldur). This kind of battiness is less forgivable (at least in my opinion) but Kratos still tried to and was gonna let him go. But not only Heimdall threw a fit about that, he even announced clearly, to the first person that hit him in 'who knows how long', to the guy that just gave him a proper beating and speared his arm to the wall, that he was gonna kill his son. Even is you ignore all of the things that Heimdall did before, that alone is enough to deserve a proper finish.

TL;DR : Baldur was a tragic behemoth that couldn't let go of his hate. Heimdall was an overpowered asshole who didn't know when to shut his mouth. They are not the same.
