God I am sick and tired of people uwu-washing indigenous American history.
Did the Inca have exquisite building techniques, efficient messengers, and quality waterworks? Yes. They were also an expansionist empire built on violent conquest and the splitting up and relocating of conquered peoples.
Did the Aztecs have a gorgeous capital city built at the heart of a lake, with floating farms and towering temples honoring their fascinating pantheon? Yes. Guess what tho. They were also a violent expansionist empire who practiced ritual sacrifice of prisoners of war.
The Iroquois confederacy had one of the most unique representative political systems I’ve ever heard of, with women taking a forefront in most local government matters too. But their internal peace allowed them to redirect violence to their neighbors, as so often happens with tribal confederations, and they eventually violently conquered the Ohio valley and destroyed or displaced dozens of other indigenous groups.
Even my beloved Cahokia has the graves of sacrifice victims amidst its ruins.
A society should not need to be (and fundamentally cannot be) squeaky clean unproblematically stannable in order to be worth studying and remembering, and pretending that they were is no less disinformative than the European accounts painting them as godless savages.

The irony is that the term essentially means "Israel should exist", which is apparently an inherently bad thing.
So even if they're not using it to mean "Jewish people", they're still implying it's wrong to think Israel should even exist.

These two tweets capture how "Zionist" is being used by some people.

interesting how it's always "iranian regime" and never "israeli regime" and definetly never "iran, where the us and uk overthrew a democratically elected leader because the iranian parliment voted to nationalise iranian oil to stop foreign countries profiting off of their resources, with the western powers' actions ultimatly leading to the islamic republic of iran that they so fear"

I love how we're just supposed to assume everything he's complaining about is the fault of capitalism, based on absolutely no evidence.
Tumblr media
Heck, we don't even know which things he's talking about, and both of the US recessions that spring to mind (now and 2008) involved a great deal of government interference.
Also, genocides are generally things done by governments.

I like how the person who yells buzzwords at random posts on strangers blogs, can't even defend their own arguments, and makes nothing but personal attacks is calling someone who doesn't do that stuff a psycho.

"Without laws, the press can lie to advance our agenda."
"Okay, but you were doing that anyway, even in countries with strong laws against press dishonesty. The only people who think otherwise are Flavor-Aid drinking sheep. And why do you trust politicians - who are also often former lawyers - to determine what's true or not?"
I still remember the left-wing people who wanted federal hate speech laws...during the Trump presidency...with a Republican majority Congress.

Absolutely astounding how many people just unironically reinvented the Noble Savage trope and think they're opposing racism.

I like how you say this without using the actual two specific terms I actually used, which were "reds" and "leftists".
Which I use, very specifically, to mean socialists/communists. The same way many self-declared leftists use the term.
Many of which I've seen support UBI over the years.
Also, I'm not right-wing.
Also, we can literally scroll up and see the person defending the concept of being paid to exist has the username "communismlives".
Which isn't exactly subtle.
I have also seen leftists say society needs to nationalize industry and/or tax the rich more, in order to fund UBI and/or more social welfare spending.
Like, spend five minutes on /r/antiwork.
>UBI is capitalist as fuck, and is often a segment of right-wing idiots trying to weaken the social safety net via conversion to UBI systems (like Yang).
I love how you and Mitch just keep making this "UBI is capitalist" assertion without actually proving it, and getting mad at someone who claims otherwise.
Anyway, here's two articles from a socialist magazine supporting UBI.
And the UK's Socialist Party.
And some paper (PDF warning).

I think he was doing that to imply that if the poll was correct, it was saying bad things about black people.
The problem with saying he's wrong is that it would effectively mean having to defend "it's okay to be white". Which many progressive people can't do.
He set up a trap card situation. Either agree with something that makes black people (and progressives) look bad, or defend white people.
Or explain how "it's okay to be white" is actually somehow an inherently bad idea, which also doesn't look good. Which didn't stop WaPo from trying to spin it, of course.*
So they took a fourth option, ignored the actual point, called him racist, and got him fired.
*Notice how they downplay the part of the story where loads of left-wing people bit hard, thereby proving the point of the original trolling. They just say "Many people saw through the prank, Pitcavage said, and recognized its malicious intent."
In reality, loads of people assumed it was white supremacist and/or got upset from the jump, which led to a few actual white supremacists using it, which was cherry-picked as "proof" the phrase was essentially white supremacist. WaPo either deliberately left that out, or never found out in the first place.
They quote an 'expert' who says that the poll respondents probably didn't want to agree with such an obviously loaded question, when the loading was done by the left's overreaction, not the original trolls.
It's like feminists claiming that MRAs have 'tainted' the idea of fighting for men's rights.
Some people claimed the phrase was inherently white supremacist, because it implied that anyone was racist against white people. Which is apparently white supremacy now.
One idiot claimed it was a sign of genocide.
