There were the old Netscape forums - those are pretty much the only older forums still up and more or less fully available.
rec:music:Beatles was the big one but there were a whole host of smaller, more niche forums that aren’t really available anymore because the domains expired. You can look at archived posts on rec:music:Beatles through google forums, even though the formatting is a bit odd.
I *believe* the site was active from the mid 90s up until today, although you’ll need a specialised forum page to make posts nowadays. There’s a ton of archived information and contemporary discussion up on there if you’re willing to sift through a lot of the more mundane stuff - I do highly recommend it!
Note: you’ll probably need to use the wayback machine for any links but generally you can find at least the bare bones of the pages and sources discussed. Another tip - if people mention articles being available online, do a search with the year the post was made, that tends to bring up the articles in question.
does anyone know if there was ever a john and paul focused online beatles community before livejournal even?? im trying to get educated on my roots and see if the convos were similar and were ppl freaking out abt india and stuff in the 90s

‘I hadn’t had anything to do with pop management - management of pop artists - before that day that I went down to the Cavern Club and heard the Beatles play. And this was quite a new world really for me. I was amazed by this, sort of, dark, smoky, dank atmosphere, this beat music playing away. And the Beatles were then, just four lads on that rather dimly lit stage, somewhat ill-clad, and their presentation, well, left a little to be desired as far as I was concerned, cos I’d been interested in the theatre and acting for a long time, but amongst all that, something tremendous came over, and I was immediately struck by their music, their beat, and their sense of humour, actually, on stage. And even afterwards when I met them, I was struck again by their personal charm, and it was there, that really, it all started. It took about eight months to get to the stage where we had a recording contract and we were having the first record issued. And from there, to the present, well, where their last record sold half a million copies within ten days of issue. Actually their first record did very well - it sold a hundred thousand copies. That was Love Me Do.’
beatle fans and brian epstein fans: i need help with something!!
i’ve been doing research on peter brown (you might know him from the lyric ‘peter brown called to say, you can make it okay, you can get married in gibraltar near spain’ from the ballad of john and yoko) and i’ve been trying hard to get an interview with him with no luck
i know it’s possible because i’ve seen him give interviews to ordinary people (as in, not well known interviewers) and if any of you have any tips or know anything about how to contact him, i would love to know 🙏🙏
