Sai is Shouyou's second student. He also knew Oboro. (I will draw them in lore stories together later.)

Sai's parents are technically part of Tenshouin Naraku , but they don't care about him at all. Sai's parents are so crazy about Tenshouin Naraku that they made their innocent son a vessel for Utsuro, that's why Sai got red eyes like Utsuro. He also has physical abilities that exceed that of children his age.

Fun facts – That is another reason why Utsuro is attracted to Sai and accepts him as his adopted son lmao 😭😭 Meanwhile, Sai never saw Utsuro as his father (Shouyou).

BRO This is an old Sai design from 13-14 years later😭😭⁉️ I mean, the new design isn't that much different? He just has short hair and still in Tendoushuu with Utsuro.

However, mention about this. I want to tell you guys something bc now I'm very lonely. My friends are all asleep😞

After Gintoki, Katsura and Takasugi became aware of Sai's presence as part of the Tendoushuu and was raised as a 'son' by Utsuro just like Shouyou used to do. He was branded 'A cowardly traitor' by his late adoptive father Shoyo's three disciples. But actually... There was necessary that Sai never thought of telling anyone about this.

That's what they all call him after Shouyou was captured.

He wasn't exactly counted in Jouishishi / the Joui4. He only came to the war to help his one and only beacon of light, his adoptive father Shouyou.

And as you can see He was younger than Gintoki and the others, making him think of him as childish as well..

Oh yes and when he was a child he was nicknamed 'The crybaby of Shouka Sonjuku'
