(i dont think any of the splatoon lore said they "desire to be killed" the wiki didn't cite anything for that so maybe that should be changed?)

As for the story the whole thing about salmon run is you invade their land and kill them and steal their stuff. if its pointed out to you it's not hard to see how that parallels how indigenous people were treated.

as for the adoption thing, part of canadian (maybe american too but i didn't learn about it) history was forced adoption of indigenous children by white families in order to erase their culture, which is classified as genocide.

because of how salmonids are inspired by indigenous cultures and in the splatoon story the turflings are in the "committing genocide" phase im definitely kind of put off by salmonid adoption. honestly everything about grizzco is way past what's considered genocide in real life standards.

anyway splatoon is at the end of the day a fictional video game, none of it is real you're fine if you enjoy it, salmon run is my favourite mode in the game, but also you can learn things from it for better or worse so keep an eye out for that and interact critically with any media. no hate or anything if you didnt know any of this
