If this didn't happen, the survivors would be paid a visit. Depending on how those paying the visit felt, the survivors would either be hauled off or given an altimatum. "Get hauld away or feed the nazies information about their nieghbors".

Instead of companies looting the government, the government did the looting. No one trusts the government is now. now if enough people got together we can change the government is legally, we don't have to buy the narrative. Now, in a capitalist economy we can choose where we buy from, speaking with our wallet. Commie gov you either buy where the government wants you to or too bad you gets none. Don't like what 'x' company is doing? Too bad, if it's being done, the gov knows and clearly approves.
