a few weeks ago amtrak did a sale on their rail pass so it was four hundred and fifty dollars instead of five hundred and i didnt get it cause i didnt have any travel plans in mind and i have regretted it every day since... i would have come up with something... why didnt i just get it

having my 3 best friends away on tour was hard enough but having a rough few weeks physically and mentally on top of that was really hard on me. since i've moved here i haven't really made any friends. parties, events, and crowded loud places aren't my thing which makes it hard to meet people. sure i've met people the odd time the boys dragged me out but i was never able to hold a conversation let alone willingly go up to people. which brings me to now.

the triplets asked if i wanted to come on tour with them but i was in the middle of the semester, the busiest time. so i've spent the past few weeks alone, only leaving when i had to work. it sucks having no one to be able to go do things with, to talk to, and to just be there.

mindlessly clicking through the stories of people i follow, just trying to distract myself from my own thoughts, my screen reveals the faces of the only people i wish i were with right now. my heart aches watching them have the time of their lives being able to explore places they always dreamed of and getting to show their personalities on stage. don't get me wrong i'm beyond happy for them and how successful they’ve become the last few years, but i just wish i were with them. quickly hearting matt’s story of him posing in front of the bean in chicago, i drop my phone beside me and get under my covers, curling up. he seemed so happy being on tour.

i lie there, thoughts wandering, and tears gently flowing as i realize how truly alone i am. my thoughts are disrupted when i feel my bed softly vibrate. lazily rolling over, i grab my phone only to be met with a text from the person i yearned for the most. matt.

and with that i turn my phone off for the night and bury myself under my covers in a desperate attempt to shut my brain off from thinking things it shouldn't. as the hours passed i tossed more and more not able to fall asleep, stay asleep and get comfortable. peeking at my clock to see the glowing 6:44am, i roll over shoving my face into my pillow and let out an unnecessarily loud groan. seeing no point staying in bed just to not be able to sleep i pad my way to the living room, claiming it my spot for the day. i put on a random season of the office to fill the silence and loneliness that i've sadly become used to. having seen the office far too many times, it's become a comfort background show, making it easy for me to fall asleep.

staring at my phone i reread matt's text a few times, my mind still fuzzy and confused thanks to my lack of sleep. finally understanding it after the 5th time, i wrap my blanket around my body and trudge over to the door to pick it up. opening the door and checking the ground for a package i'm met with beat up air forces instead. startled, my head whips just to confirm it's who i thought it was.

all the loneliness, emptiness, sadness, yearning to see you hit me at once, a wave of tears overcame me as i engulf you in a hug nearly sending you and i to the floor. no words have been spoken, there's no need to. i immediately bury my head into your chest, your one hand coming to cradle my head as the other holds me securely to your body. we stay like this for a few minutes before you slightly pull away grabbing my hands and placing them around your neck, sneaking a quick peck to my cheek as you do so. your hands snake around my waist and gently lift me, bringing both of us into my house. closing the front door we make our way to the living room sitting on the couch turning to face each other.

god i missed you. today was our last day of tour but we were gonna stay there and explore the city for a few days but i couldn’t wait any longer i needed to see you. i was worried about you and couldn't bare the thought of being away for another second.

TW SUICIDE ATTEMPT/MENTION AND RACISM+ DISCRIMINATION UNDER THE CUT

All of the personifications have to have died at least twice by anothers hand, but i believe most if not all, have attempted. Life has not always been good for them. War, trauma, mistreatment. While they are morally grey and have only the thoughts of the majority; they still have feelings.

Some relationships have been disrupted by discrepancies that led to attempts or full on deaths. Like illiyork, when illinois attempted after they hit a rough patch. They've grown VERY much since then but it used to be very prevalent amongst personifications to kill themselves to get just how upset they were across. It was soon dismissed as a petty reaction to falling out or discipline, which created a very torturous cycle of abuse.

Many of them ended up running away, not that it lasted long as personifications are ubiquitous, and can be summoned. Eventually as times changed most learned how to communicate and ended the dismissal of serious issues like literally killing oneself, but some aren't so progressive.

I have MANY black headcanons for cities and states, as im black myself. So obviously that comes with the history, good and bad.

I like to headcanon races based on the population of a state city or township but.. sometimes it comes down to vibes and culture.

For me Chicago, my home city and favorite city has always been black. Which caused various problems. Back when humans were unaware of personifications. She vas seldom allowed outside and even then she was miserable. I wont go into the details of it because it doesn't seem appropriate

Wisconsin and Illinois have a really bad relationship beyond their people. They are not compatible at all. Like frank and monica from shameless bad but also somehow worse. At least theyre good parents.

(This requires context from a previous post) While Chicago was sent to live with indy, she was treated lovely, but she felt so out of place. Like she was intruding, and it didn't stop when she got back home either. Everyone looked at her like she did something wrong. She couldn't talk to anyone without insane passive aggression. Not even in the midwest way. Her dad was also suoer skittish around her.

how is it having a chinchilla? How does it compare to a dog, rabbit, lizard, or other pets? I'd like a pet when I'm more financially stable, but idk if I'll ever be mentally stable? I worry about meeting its needs, but something like a fish is too low interaction for me.

Are chinchillas considered an "exotic" animal? I know some states require licenses to have them as pets, like hedgehogs

Chinchillas are in the sweet spot of low maintenance but high engagement, in my opinion. When you're busy, you can keep em in a cage with water, hay, pellets, a few chew toys, and a wheel to run on pretty much indefinitely ; when you want to play with them you can let them roam around a chin-proofed room and enjoy watching them jump, roll, and dart around the room bouncing off the walls.

Chins are curious and fearless, and they are *fast* and can jump as high as four feet off the ground, and quite high energy, so they can be a lot of fun to have around. They however are NOT LAP PETS and will chew up every single wood baseboard / electric cable / book / pair of shoes they can find, so you have to keep an eye on them or else cover everything with cardboard. Don't let the cute tiktoks fool you, most dont want to sit still on a countertop holding things for videos. Chins are like cats: they do want they want to do, and they choose when they want to make contact with you and where they want to go.

Chins are also hypoallergenic! and relatively cheap to keep, aside from the initial start up costs of buying a good Critter Nation cage and a Happy Chilla metal wheel and the pet itself. They are very long lived for a rodent, some making it into their 20s, so be prepared for a long term commitment. (my last chin made it to 13, but we didnt feed her well when I was a child. Dump Truck, who we give hay and Oxbow pellets only, is 7 but I expect him to be around a long time. He's still very youthful).

There are no "exotics" restrictions on owning chinchillas, because they have been domesticated since the 1800s. All chinchillas come from breeders, none are captured from the wild, and there are many reputable breeders in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, and Japan, as well as rescues. Here in Chicago we have Northwest Indiana Chinchilla Rescue just a few miles out.

One final note: chinchillas need a cool environment. If the room they are in gets about 85 degrees, they will die. They evolved in the Peruvian mountains and are built for a cold, dry environment. If you can't afford to keep them in air conditioning all summer, do not get one. In the winter, they will post up for hours beside an open window. Ice chips and a cool marble slab in their cage can help them regulate temp too.

Hi! I read your replies about ethnicity and I hadn't realized it was defined so broadly. In your readings, would all religious groups be considered ethnicities? Example, I'm ex-Catholic but still consider myself "culturally Catholic" since I was brought up in that environment.

Well, no. Not just "Catholic" alone.

I mean, put it this way: in North America, Catholics specifically syncretized catholicism into existing ethnic identities (ex: mexican-catholic is different from Metis Catholic, and the ethnic identities began to incorporate unique folk catholicism that is specific to these ethnic groups, not universally Catholic. As in, it's all Catholic, but not "catholic.")

OR groups developed ethnic enclaves wherein catholicism was part of their shared identity. (Ex: Italian or Polish neighborhoods in the US tended to emphasize their identity and connections to other Italians and Poles on their basis of their being Catholic. They tended to exclude/other Jews with the same national origins (which is what happened in the "old country" as well, so...this didn't suddenly change).

basically people didn't stop marginalizing people they used to marginalize back home. So a historical neighborhood of Polish Jews was/is often viewed as a Jewish neighborhood, an Ashkenazi Jewish neighborhood, etc, but if you just look for a "polish neighborhood" then the majority of the people there will be polish Catholics and catholicism will play a larger role in the shared polish identity, even though not all Poles are Catholic.

Like if I look up polish neighborhoods and find Chicago's massive polish downtown neighborhood on Wikipedia, it says this:

"this district was not exclusively Polish," and "Italians, Ukrainians, and Jews each possessed their own enclaves within the area."

Which might sound fine but also is revealing of the fact that say, the majority of poles (who were/are a majority Catholic!) didn't see Polish Jews as identical to other Poles. Further, it's very vague — there are Polish, Ukrainian, and Italian Jews. But the ethnic identity of being Polish, Ukrainian, or Italian immigrants in the US wasn't solely defined by country of origin.

So. Could I say that "Polish Catholic" is an ethnic group? I think it's context dependent in some ways: if someone American tells me their family is descended from Italian, or Polish, or Irish immigrants I can usually assume they mean their ancestors were catholic++

and they usually don't identify with being a polish or italian national — instead, they're identifying with the history of x nationals immigrating and developing ethnic enclaves/assimilating or not/and the culture they brought with them as an ethnic group/identity. An Italian American usually identifies as proudly Italian in the sense of a solidarity based on an ethnic identity within the US context, theyre usually not like, identifying with being an Italian national.

But in Italy, surrounded by Italians, the ethnic grouping of "Italian" is pretty unspecific. Are they Latin? Sicilian? Sardinian? (There are roughly 30 languages native to Italy, so it's not like we can go off of "they speak Italian"!)

++ in my singular individual experience: most Jews don't phrase it like this without first establishing some baseline understanding of aforementioned ancestors being jews. by this I mean when I go to the Jewish museum and folks start talking about where their family left in order to come to the US, they might say "my ancestors fled Russia." Or "they came from Ukraine and Lithuania." Because in context it's clear already this is in relation to the Jewish experience. But if you were talking with a group of people who may not all be other Jews or who don't necessarily know you're Jewish, I find people usually don't just say: "My family's polish," they usually instead say "oh my grandparents are Polish Jews," or "my great-grandparents were Jews who left/fled Poland."

...anyways anon I suspect your ex-catholicness has some kind of regional identity beyond that which is a part of your ethnic identity (shared culture, including religion!) but no, being Catholic is not the ethnic identity itself. Especially since catholicism as a religion has a few millennia of espousing universalism beyond ethnic identity and in the earliest church outright rejecting the notion of ethnic belonging to the Jewish people. To the point where a lot of the Greek biblical uses of "ethnos" specifically meant "people who are not-catholic —meaning the heathens and Jews."

So the religion itself is pretty anti-being an ethnic identity but I would say can be a fundamentally big point of community commonality in existing ethnic groups.

hi anon!! im not gonna lie i had to dive DEEP into my blog to find the reasonings behind some of the crossed out ones because i simply did not remember a lot of them since there are SO many moments and theyre just crazy in love idk what to tell you.

13. shane calling ryan "little guy" + hand holding: these moments were both from the powerpoint party one-off!! that video is such a gem :') while calling ryan little guy he gave him his cape (one of shane's FAVORITE things) as a blanket it was ADORABLE

every few days i see hockey(?) liveblogs from you (I enjoy the enthusiasm even if i have no idea whats going on). What are the main teams you're following? is it just hockey?

this is so sweet, thank you for the support even if youre a little lost! it is just hockey! but i got plans to get into baseball when it starts in february (go pirates and cubs!) but a little too wordy vomit under the cut about my teams :)

my top team is pittsburgh penguins. for better or worse (and usually worse)—i will be there for every game and saying we're so back after one score when we're down by 5. i will defend them until my last breath, theyre the team ill always put on when having to choose between which ones are currently on. its not a hockey team, its sidney crosby building an ice family with his 5 and counting partners and being known for his banana bread and kind heart and fat ass while literally being the inspiration for over half the players in the nhl because hes been wonderful since he was a rookie. its 18 years of love and friendship despite the odds and how theyre so open in loving and supporting their teammates while hockey culture is filled with toxic masculinity. its the narrative loving and hating us, its sidney being gods most loveable and tortured lamb, its geno whos hilarious and dramatic with a heart of gold, its tanger and his greasy hair, its the babygirlifying grown men AND rooting for the old underdog who are in the 4th spot for the playoffs in their metro area despite our powerplay being a joke and our star players ages (late thirties isnt old by any account but for a high energy physical contact sport?? average retirement is 25-30 instead while 13 of our guys is 30+ and playing some of their best hockey)

after that i really like the leafs despite them being the leafs! theyre a blast to watch (sometimes) and theyre a big third period game, for better or worse. so its always exciting (sometimes unfortunately)! auston matthews is my top favorite from them, hes absolutely remarkable and doesnt get the credit and appreciation he deserves. but i also love the other players, mo, willy, and mitch all especially have a place in my heart :) third fav tosses around with who i can catch a game from most to be honest since a lot of times they overlap too much. im fond of the wild because their goaltender (flower!) was ours for forever. kraken is a blast and has lots of old penguin players too. avalanche is fun to root for when ive seen some games :) im less familiar with all of them but hockey is a fun sport to just throw yourself into and learn as you go so its never been an issue!!

teams i hate is anyone who won against my special guys in the last month tbh HFIFJ but i REALLY hate the chicago team, flyers, and vegas knights. chicago is.... a lot of bad shit off ice and has so many controversies—from their name and jerseys to players being abusive and cover-ups of sexual assault from coaches. just hate them and anytime i see those jerseys and remember theyre allowed while flower was threatened with a lawsuit if he wore his helmet (was designed specially by an indigenous artist to honor flower's indigenous wife and their kids during native american heritage month).... god i just get too pissed, theyre number one for who i despise. flyers are the biggest rivals to the penguins so it makes more sense (but also fuck the capitals and canes for personal grievances. also still mad at the canucks) vegas golden knights just annoys me so much with how theyre still calling themselves the misfits and i associate them with flower leaving so!!!

sorry for the little. word vomit lol but !!! if you ever want to get into hockey, please dm me! im no expert by any means and i know me throwing names out there is intimidating but i promise its fun once you get into it and you dont need to know much to just start watching! for me its great to have something to look forward to every week and watch something happen as it actually happens and liveblog—it kinda feels more like a loose community experience that i never got because of my health issues and disability! its also just fun to be dramatic (screaming its so over when scored on /celebrating a goal) over something thats kinda... not that important. (important for the players and fans ofc but it doesn't change anything in MY daily life outside of how i feel which is refreshing!) sports in general kinda encourage those big emotional responses and it can be great catharsis and silly if you let it be :) and the fan community here can be so welcoming if you just fully ignore twitter and the straight white angry men on it <3

come look at gifs of people calling a 36 year old babygirl and the excitement of a goal celly. come watch funny videos and clips and at how *our* captain wore tiny little shorts and a white shirt to get dunked in a water tank for charity. come and slowly learn how much shit the players put up with as rookies and have the happiness of hindsight at what happiness their futures would hold and why me saying 18 years of love and friendship despite the odds is so big because thats genuinely so rare (only 127 retired players in all of nhl history has accomplished this). come get emotional at poetry over getty images hockey pictures and relish in the delight that is finding art everywhere you go. come see people say that sidney needs to get knotted up and mpreg debates in who will abort that thang or not. take my hand and become a hockey fan, i prommy its not scary—not even during the 'who the fuck is this' stage <33

One of the things I think is so appealing about fob is the way they came up - it seems like theyre one of the last examples I can think of of a band coming up from the hardcore/punk scene that became genuinely massive. Like, it used to happen pretty often, but since their ascent I can't think of another band (not counting ones from the same timeframe that they were involved with) that made it anywhere near as big as they have that weren't somehow tied to the industry or something. I guess nowadays it's different with social media, and small groups will get larger fan bases from posting things online than playing local shows, But like I have friends in bands, my cousins band even plays in Chicago sometimes, and it just doesn't seem like any of the guys in those scenes seem to have a thought in their head that they could ever make it big. maybe that makes it more authentic in a way, Like they knowthe odds are stacked against them, so they're just being honest and not worrying too much about promotion, but  It does make me sad to think of all the great acts were missing out on because of how the industry has changed (Not that it was ever great, but whatever ) Also sorry this is in ma huge font size I have no idea how to fix it.

first of all, no need to apologise for the huge ass text i’m obsessed with it it’s like your yelling at me over club music in a bar. and me? i’m listening so intently but yeah anyway i think you’re right, i also think they know that too, i think fob know they were one of the last to really hit the ground running once they did from their origins and so always just kept themselves true to what they came from. and still do. which is. literally have fun with it. i also think because even if this used to happen all the time, fob were such a rare case themselves in the fact… they breached our, even in pre-h they didn’t just stick to pop punk which they became known for. they stuck to what they wanted to do through it all, and right up to this day. pete’s even said recently they don’t want to make a cork tree 2. but yeah anyway it is unfortunate that it never really happens anymore and that bands are now usually a more local thing and can’t hit the ground running as easily. but. if i had to choose any band to be one of if not the last to make it big from the hardcore scene, it’d always be fall out boy. they’re not afraid to stay true but also not afraid to branch out as long as it means they’re 4 guys having fun and messing around the same way they did in that broken down van :,-) also i say all this back to you while gesturing wildly with an orange juice in hand

just wanted to pop in really quickly cus i need to go to bed really soon and say that to be completely honest i only found out about medieval times from a podcast. they didnt go into much detail other than the fact that theres knights and a lot of food but i guess that was enough for my brain to sound the alarm jdbdj

ive read up about the place quite a bit but im not too good at explaining so i thought id share a link i found that portrayed the experience quite well! its a blog entry and isnt too long, it is from 5 years ago but as far as ive read it hasnt changed all that much.

if you dont have the time or just dont feel like reading it tho ill do my best to lay out the basics:

theres a 4 course meal (you eat like medieval people - with your hands, dont think mickey would mind tbh)

theres a show where 6 knights duel, each knight has a specific colour scheme assigned to them (green, red and yellow, red, blue, yellow and black and white)

the audience is divided into 6 parts, each is meant to cheer on a specific knight

the knights give/throw some carnations (not roses, thats my bad im sorry!) to the audience (i like to think ian would specifically come up to mickey and hand him the flower while looking him in the eyes before going back to just throwing the flowers into the crowd)

thats the basics i was thinking about in context of the au but theres a lot more information out there that i might need getting accustomed to~

oh and btw! i checked and there is a medieval times dinner & tournament (thats the full name i believe) in chicago! on the north side to be exact, i even checked and itd be about an hour by car from both the gallagher and milkovich houses (not a surprise since theyre like 150m away from eachother jdncjd)

I thought I'd essentially memorized VALL, I skimmed it again to make sure, and I'm still not seeing 1895 or 1901? I can imagine ACD vaguely alluding to 1875 as being twenty years ago; I can't imagine any way he'd state it was 1901. At any rate. It's the late 1880s, the exposition in FINA is condensed for the sake of Watson's sanity. VALL is my lodestone, I shall not be moved.

sdfdk ok yeah thats what i meant by 'the least explicit' date, because the only date given directly by watson is that its a jan 7th in the 'late 1880s' but that is. vague. so that 1875=20 yrs ago is exactly where im getting 1895, but theres other information you can pull dates out of:

they are both living at baker street, which neatly cuts around the stated late 1880s date as basically the only block of time it CANT be

the bicycle company mentioned 'rudge-whitworth bicycles' was founded in 1894 (but in fairness it was a merger of two existing companies so we can give watson a pass for just using the contemporary brand name at time of writing)

douglas' personal timeline: he left chicago at least 1885 (about ten years after the events of pt2) > ettie died > one yr in california alone> 5 yrs in california with barker > left california 6.5 yrs ago (5 of which in sussex). this puts us squarely in At Least 1898 but we dont know exactly when ettie died so it could be any time around then.

Billy the Page: So at this point we have it narrowed down to some time between 98 and 02 (when watson supposedly moves out to queen annes st), if we want to get any more specific we can look at the pageboy. VALL is the earliest published mention of Billy the page (not counting the gillette play in 1899), but hes also mentioned by name in THOR which has to take place october 1901, and MAZA where he clarifies that EMPT is 'before [his] time] (again ruling out the 1880s). Theres also no other stories set in the post-EMPT baker st era that mention a page so it seems like he was hired towards the end of that era, and since hes still there in 1903 hes probably pretty new in THOR, and theres Certainly no page in 98.

Other temporal clues: From there we can look at the Jan 7th date , and 'A long series of sterile weeks lay behind us.' The only januaries between 99-02 that have an empty preceding december are 1901 or 1902. For other reasons in my timeline i think its unlikely billy was there by january 01 (neither he nor a generic page is mentioned in PRIO) so i've put VALL in january 1902, but for that post i said 1901 because really theyre equally likely.

the moriarty situation: i will happily grant that the FINA exposition is condensed for narrative convenience, but im inclined to take them both at their word when they describe holmes' investigation of the gang as being about 3 months from when he first heard of moriartys name, and all of that again takes place while watson is in paddington/kensington, and famously, in 1891. even if you're working w the idea that watsons marriage wasn't real the french government case immediately prior to FINA is a high profile one that was reported in the papers heavily, so i think we have to concede that holmes hasnt been home in those months to take on another case. my solution has been basically to ignore all of the references to moriarty because they basically... dont make any sense. and id rather take FINA/EMPT as the primary source for moriarty information than a novel written in 1914 fully 20 years later. so i think that the case went more or less as watson wrote it but with a different organised crime figure unrelated to M who he didnt want to give extra publicity to (which especially makes sense if its a more recent story from the early 00s rather than events from nearly 30 yrs ago).

BUT basically all of this past the outright stated timeline of douglas' travels is conjecture and thats what makes it fun! it all depends on which things we think watson has disguised or altered in his writing of the story, so where i've gone with a general rule of 'hes more likely to change specific dates and names and leave story details alone' theres a thousand other approaches and theyre all just as reasonable.

i LOVE that vall is a messy timeline that breaks everything around it and made me reread like 6 other stories to figure out where it fits, and i love that none of that matters anyway because, leaving the watsonian perspective for a moment, its having so much fun playing around with the established holmes mythos and structure and characters and what else are we here for <3

alright so! im not gonna bother with a very organized post i wouldnt be me if i did but here are my collision thoughts!

i liked the theme song, which sets it apart from dynamite and rampage in that it isnt dogshit. i also liked the set and the presentation, although i wouldve loved if it was more distinct from dynamite (also i miss the tunnels) but overall they made a great job of adhering to the companys aesthetic while making a new distinct looking product. i also was hoping since its live on tnt that they would have different editors, this clearly isnt the case, editing was shit. not a collision issue aew just needs better editors.

i agree with everyone on this, commentary was a little rough. i didnt really know nigel before (i never have time for roh) so i didn't know what to expect and he and kevin obviously need time to figure out how theyre gonna work together, and kevin also clearly struggled with the american format (ad breaks, promos between matches etc). overall it is still better than dynamite commentary and i have high hopes for them! not even Hoarse Corpse Jr at the main could take them down to his level.

i'll admit i didn't fully watch punk's promo at the start, im a notorious promo skipper but i watched most of it, and it seemed alright to me. there was a bit of dissonance between how they seem to be bringing him back as a heel but being in chicago didnt get the response to his speech that he wouldve gotten elsewhere.

super excited about everyone showing up on the show if this is for real a roster split they picked some good fucking people for collision! jurys out on scorpio sky ive only ever seen him with frankie kazarian and i dont like kaz so

all the matches were good, even the tnt match i wasnt at all interested in was kind of like watchable and christian pretending he won the tnt title was really funny so ill let him have this. andrade and buddy were pretty incredible and miro looked fucking huge and awesome so ill forgive tony nese being there. skyewillow vs the outcasts slapped altho i wish they yknow. had more than one womens match. but it was really good skye looked incredible she and willow worked great together and im so happy she got the pin! i really hope skye and willow continue teaming together. also the outcats r much more enjoyable when saraya is not there, i love their over the top heel antics tbh

the main was good! sadly i dont give a shit about ftr and juice so it was kind of a struggle but they are good (well ftr are) i just dont like em. anyway punk looked good he was moving well and i thought it was well paced and everyone got their due time in the spotlight (being in the ring w punk)

overall this was a very solid start to this show, obviously we know aew can put on a good show but its the question of whether they are able to keep this momentum going. good wrestlers and a nice new look doesnt make the show good immediately, so im a little hesitant to say anything more about its impact right now but i had fun

Days N Daze / Post Party Depression

This song can fit in multiple places in Jackal’s timeline but i fit it mostly in the very beginning.

When Lyrebird is in her teens she spends a lot of time being stupid. She and her friends have fun breaking into abandoned buildings and harmless things that slowly escalate until theyre pulling street scams on unsuspecting passerby. When they pull a con unknowingly on a Mafia Bouncer. Everyone runs leaving her the sole perpetrator left to face the mafia.

After she ends up in the mafia, Lyre’s whole life is turned upside down. Suddenly her stupid cons have forced her into a real life of crime- a runner and helper for the mafia. She never wanted to be a criminal but she doesnt see a way out.

This part fits into just about every part of Jackal’s story. Man of a thousand masks. In this section it serves as the first instance that Lyrebird has to become her masks. Before they were just for pulling scams but now she wears them every waking moment- anything to hide her fear and uncertainty.

Shakira / She wolf

THIS SONG!!!! Is jackals main anthem i think, it makes me think abt him SO MUCH. Mainly I see it as Lyrebird coming to terms with who she is becoming. She learns to lie better, wear her masks like a second skin, shes not stealing chump change anymore- but something much more valuable. Information.

Mike Hough / Gambling man

Gambling Man represents the majority of Lyrebird’s late story with Nathan. As time goes on Lyre grows closer to him, falls deeper in love. I like to use gambling as a motif for Jackal and Dallas.

Lyre knows things are impossible but shes willing to place her bets on him, stay by his side even if the odds aren’t in her favor. A million to one odds and she still wouldnt leave. Unknown to both of them is how Nathan is her devil in disguise

Lyrebird saw the signs- saw a hit on her head- Nathan warned her- but she chose to stay. Now she’s paying for her sins, a bullet just inches away from ending her life- shes dead in everyway but physical. But she’s still lingering on her feelings- reality yet to truly sink in.

Joey Batey / Her sweet kiss

As Lyrebird leaves Chicago, shes forced to realize and truly come to terms with the fact the person she’d devoted the past five years of her life to has gutted her irreparably. Theres still that yearning- but he wasn’t worthy of it. He didn’t deserve her love.

Fin / Ship In a Bottle
