I wanted to go to sleep, happy enough with a no drama birthday.
Something was nagging me in this very carefully worded donation statement:
Why Claire Beauchamp?
Why not Claire Fraser, which would have been the logical - hell, obvious! - choice?
So I was tossing & turning and instead of counting sheep, I was entertaining the earworm... "Beauchamp.... Beauchamp... Beauchamp"...
And then...
... BUT OF COURSE!
Remember this?
The mythical Hyde Park Walk, when ...uhm... things were said. Following which, a decision to have each other's back was made & set in stone.
I don't think (correct me if I am wrong) we do have the precise day for this pivotal moment in the S&C saga. But we know it was September 2013 and certainly after 9/11/2013, when C was cast as Beauchamp, hehe.
Remember also this?
... followed by this:
Two can play that game, indeed.
Something happened between 9/11/2013 and 9/16/2013. Five days (that shook their world, to paraphrase John Reed's seminal book on the Russian Bolshevik Revolution).
I amused myself a lot with Google Maps, tonight:
It's a ten minutes walk from Hyde Park to Beauchamp Place. Ok, fifteen, at a more leisurely pace.
I would also suggest checking @ashmarie1687's post on this topic (https://ashmarie1687.tumblr.com/post/637622028553289728/where-it-all-began). I am not the only loon who connected these dots.
Tomorrow, I will be crucified for this, for sure. But just tell me: do you have a better explanation for this donation the size of the Spanish Indies, and then some more?
What fan would be so pathologically invested, as to remember these details and act upon them and state them in charming charade form?
Thought so.
Only a person involved in that 'two can play that game' episode would say Beauchamp instead of Fraser, exactly ten years after the facts occured.
A milestone, indeed.
Ok, Sir. Your kilt is showing. :) And this is the sweetest trolling of this entire fandom to date.
I rest my case.
[edit]: Thanks to Mushka's tantrum on X, I am now aware that OTP is One Tree Planted, the NGO chosen by S for the yearly MPC's big charity project in 2022. That good man spent his birthday planting trees on behalf of OTP with Peakers, by the way (https://onetreeplanted.org/blogs/stories/my-peak-challenge):
Funny to read S's fans' reactions to Sam Witwer's TW response. They are mad. If S didn't retweet the article there would have been no backlash. After he did, his fans were in heaven responding to him. He was trending for 2 days because of his retweet. Their noise made Witwer's fans and game director go full throttle. Circling a role doesn't mean he's got it. He should have ignored the article but he couldn't and pulled a James Bond rumor which we know it was never a serious consideration.
It's fun to read the tweets and reactions on both sides to be honest. I'm feeling like I'm watching a tennis game. Fans on both sides are defending their hero, but none of them (or at least the majority) has ever heard or knows about the capabilities of the other party. I think I got one Anon though who does know SW and sent me an opinion
But on both sides they're bashing the other party, and depending on for or against SW have an opinion about SW's tweet that is opposite. I got both sides in my inbox too:
Personally I don't know the first thing about SW, never heard of him before. That is not to say something in advance of SH, but simply a statement. And I read SW's tweet as funny, a witty way to react to what was going on after the announcement of SH 'circling' the role of Decon which SW had made great in the game (that's what I took away from it). Ever wonder what would happen if say, another Tom Buckingham movie was made, but SH would not be cast in that role but some other actor (whoever doesn't matter), even if it was Tom Cruise, we've also seen how SH's fans are able to bash TC for Top Gun saying SH would have been great in that role. And don't get me started about JB.. 🤐
Yes, it's it also ironic to call SW unprofessional because of that tweet. Just recently we had this discussion, and some examples, and there are many more how SH can react in a more pathetic way than SW did at this moment. (Snubbed by the Emmy's anyone?, and yes his lashing out to Alan Cunning and Miriam Margolyes claiming the stole 'his idea' was low, and not in a witty or smart way either.
So to the fans condemning SW's tweet I just say - pot-kettle-black-much.
You know, you can also watch a tennis game, and even when the opponent of your hero makes a good point, it's okay to applaud him. Doesn't mean he's winning the match.
To take that metaphor just a bit farther, there isn't even a script, nothing at all actually. It might take years before this production will get to another stage. And who knows what cards are on the table by then. Didn't we see that many times already?

(Adj.) Lacking congruity, such as: not harmonious, incompatible; not conforming, disagreeing; inconsistent within itself
So, two people obtained copies of a marriage certificate between Caitriona and Tony.
What's that mean to me?
I've thought a LOT, and the answer is: NOTHING.
More emphatically: NOT A DAMN THING.
Its very existence is incongruous with my mountain of receipts. It doesn't fit. I don't care whence it came, or how, or if it's true. I don't even care if one day Queen Elizabeth II herself swears on the legacy of her late cousin-husband that she was a surprise guest at the ceremony.
The receipts stand.
I'll be the first to admit that I am an extremely jaded person when it comes to marriage. I've been married twice, and both were horrendous failures. I was the breadwinner both times. I was the social butterfly both times. Neither man had an interesting personality or a single success in his career.
Sound familiar? Because good God, it should.
So I don't care if she's been married to Tony and cheating with Sam. Marriage, I always say, is a business arrangement, pure and simple. It IS.
So, did she really marry the guy we've seen her hand off her purse and coat to? The guy who walks behind her? The guy she looks pained to be photographed with? The guy she can't even name? Who has no social media identity, is too shy to submit to an interview, and only has eyes for his iPhone?
Maybe... but see @ashmarie1687 for some intel on what's been "redacted for privacy". 😏
They have this:
But we have so much more.
I dug through my 🗄🗄🗄📂📂📂🧾🧾🧾 and included as many as I could for you here:
And finally this, from my Applied Lip Reading series (filmed just months before August 10, 2019):
That was unscripted, obscured by Roger's voice, and very ad-libbed. But there it is. That's real, and so are the thousands of 🧾📂🗄 between Sam and Cait.
So... since we know next to nothing about Tony, here's a guess:
Maybe his interplanetary visa was about to expire and it's a green card marriage to avoid deportation.
