i know i KNOW maestro is bad but jinx monsoon, you scary legend, can you stay in the whoniverse forever 🎶😍🎶

✨ this is my personal opinion, media is subjective you might not agree with my opinions & that's just fine✨

i love that we’ve got an episode focused on music, my headphones are an anxiety ridden day away from being surgically attached to my soul. music is soothing, is it is my peace & doctor who has such beautiful music from the gorgeous theme tune to stunning pieces of music like: “songs of captivity & freedom”, “love don't roam” “turn left”, “who are you?”, “clara’s diner”, “my angel put the devil in me”, “the long song”, “the lone dalek”, “martha triumphant”, “the greatest story never told”, “this is gallifrey”, “the doctor forever” to “the goblin song” & scene stealing music choices like “tainted love”, “toxic”, “voodoo child”, “chances”, “rise up” & “spice up your life” doctor who is full to the brim of the most emotive & captivating tunes that i thank that it is fantastic that it’s the focus of an episode of my favourite show of all time.

this might just be me but the opening… it's giving rocketman.

“i have lived & i have loved” 😭 every time fifteen says something like this, it goes to the very core of me, how ncuti delivers the full range of emotions as the doctor is just incredible, he is incredible. he's officially in my top favourite versions of the doctors (he was already but this, this makes it forever)

what if the one who waits is the trickster? my clown hat went on the SECOND the doctor mentioned the pantheon & the trickster is always waiting for a way to breakthrough to the main universe, it is also one the most terrifying villains rtd has ever created & was somehow one of the main antagonists of a children’s show, if you're reading this & are not familiar with “the sarah jane adventures” this thing is scarier than some of the really intense doctor who villains, the trickster is no joke. i have always thought it would be incredible to have the trickster in doctor who because whilst they pushed it as far as they could on “the sarah jane adventures” i think that they could make the trickster one of the scariest creatures to exist in the whoniverse on doctor who.

jinx monsoon has played one of the best villains i have seen on doctor who in ages, what a performance, what an outfit (maestro i want your silver shoes from the apocalypse) it would be bad but selfishly i want them back.

am now wondering if “ruby sunday” may end up being something to do with the trickster, yes, i know that would be repeating history because of sky but those stories were never actually made so perhaps they're recycling the idea? would not be the first time that this is happened, that balls to the wall masterpiece of a show that is wizards vs aliens got some of the planned “the sarah jane adventures” stories after all.

this season has got off to such a good start, i can't wait to see what’s next, “the devil’s chord” was brilliant, it really wasn't what i was expecting & i love it, better than all my expectations, i will watch this one for years to come with either the biggest smile on my face or 😬 depending on what happens to ruby 😭

next week is… the return of moffat 😬 i will be fair, i promise to watch the episode with an open mind & judge it purely on how the episode is as it presents itself without any underlying negativity just because of the writer. i say this because i might need to be reminded of this when i come back to talk about “boom” because i am still upset about what happened to bill. yes, moffat has written some incredible episodes of doctor who, some fantastic stories, i'm not for one second saying that he hasn't but the last time i watched something moffat wrote i unleashed hell into an essay for my degree because he ruined my favourite characters from my second favourite book in the world.

I can probably fully recite "A Talk With One of Your Devious Owners" at this point - Not only is the really steady monotone tone of this one super relaxing to me, but I really like James as a character with complex and warring emotions. The cat/mouse vibe that this one introduced is very fun, and I love the way he slyly reveals all of the asset's own cards to them.

What Redacted boy holds no appeal to you, and why? I am so sorry to say it, but Caelum does not spark joy 😭 I think he is very sweet, and I love him as a character, but I have a hard time listening to those ones.

Tell me about that one book/movie/tv show you know all the words to. Oh god, suddenly I've forgotten every movie or TV show I've ever seen in my LIFE. I would say I could recite a good chunk of Elton John's biopic, Rocketman, BUT ALSO I watched Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (the one from 1971) a few days ago and was UNSETTLED by how easily I could recite that one line-by-line.

Which Redacted boy are you platonically attracted to? Like- forget dating, which dude do you want to be your best friend? I would die to be friends with Huxley. I think he would be SO easy to be around and just be yourself with. He also seems like the type of friend to listen to you actively while somebody talks over you or circle back to what you said when nobody heard you. Plus I just know one of his hugs would fix me.

They are mainly about love and self-image but even the sad ones don't make me feel super sad, just kinda relaxed and seen, I guess? I relate to Geordi a lot. For Redacted playlists, Sadism's Hold is ALWAYS going to be a winner for me. I have thought about Ivan's arc probably more consecutive hours than any other character.

What’s your guilty pleasure media, and why? Definitely ASMR/Boyfriend RP type content. I've been getting more comfortable wearing merch out in the real world and I usually find it easier to just refer to it as "a podcast I'm into" 😅

And whatever else you think tells me about who you are! My favourite colour is yellow, I love thunderstorms (the more thunder/lightning) the better, and I want to absolutely eat my hands when media makes a reference to Icarus or Cannibalism as a love language.

Though I don’t necessarily agree with that mother's advice, I do think it fits since it would be so easy for y’all. advertisement for Richard who barely was seen during Eternals promo besides the premieres?😭 "his agent is good" but his only project is a weird series by the Russo bros?😭 Kit went from the most popular series in the world into the most popular movie series in the world and Richard... was there in the beginning and left early TWICE. they can't show me Richard leaving the big franchise when things are just about to get interesting (I love cosmic Marvel and Eternals left the Earth to many interesting possibilities) AGAIN. Also his character is not exactly... loved.

he has never done many projects since got ended but not counting ibiza which was what it was... most of them where high profile

rocketman? oscar-nominated movie

bodyguard? he won a golden globe for it

cinderella? did it with kenneth branagh and also got the theater credit for it though it went the way it went

1917? was barely there but everyone but the main two was and also other multiple oscarnominated winning movie

medici? was a total hit here and they're at season four in plannings and it's still a hit here and they keep on churming out sequel after sequel

citadel? entire series picked up plus four possible spin-offs (I mean... idk how 'weird project by the russo bros' is a good description from what I see)

that's not counting the scifi podcast with brian cox aka not the first idiot passing by that he's producing a series of and ngl I'm glad of all this scifi but I mean

also: mcu co-lead role for which he doesn't have to tie himself to an entire franchise nor commit that much unless they bring him back on a regular basis is still mcu on your CV so your net worth becomes higher which is absolutely good advertising since it means his cachet gets higher

^^ counting that, and that no one has worked during the pandemic - and that most people who were in GOT until the ending got screwed over career-wise (like let's be real, most of the actors that didn't die by the end haven't worked much or it took them a while to find projects and they're all coming out now but it hasn't paid them any favors, none of them - sure gwen got sandman and addams family and now she's booked but she hasn't been around for a while after got, ncw hasn't done much high profile, dinklage has managed with cyrano now but he went straight to theater after it was over and where is everyone else kit excluded? not doing much or not so high profile), and yes kit went from got to most likely next lead material in the mcu which good for him but he also ended up going in rehab in the middle of it and got wasn't exactly great for his mental health and like I haven't seen modern love yet but since got ended/throughout got's last few years what did he do? yeah, not that much X°D - I thiiiink that richard is doing very well for himself atm XDDD and that his agent is very good because either he gets leads on quality projects or he gets smaller roles on movies that go to the oscars/are box office hits which means that his cachet gets higher and his net worth gets better and he still won a golden globe X°D like... honestly not counting idk sean bean who's safe anyway and the likes I'm pretty sure he's one of the top three doing better out of all the former got cast so I think he's good and honestly leaving GOT early just paid him a favor because back then it was still good and he died in the scene everyone remembers most so honestly idt he lost much by exiting early, surely not as much as kit lost by getting screwed over by dnd in the last season and overworking himself the way he did X°D

wrt his character not being loved: idk the current state of mcu fandom and honestly I don't want to because I saw enough fringes of the l*ki discourse on twitter to know I'm absolutely not even touching it with a ten foot pole nvm sam&bucky show discourse and honestly I can't, and I don't even want to know what discourse would be up wrt eternals but I can imagine why ppl wouldn't like him especially if it's teens who went to see the person showing up in the mid-titles scene, but like... so what? it was a compelling character, he did a v. good job with it and that's what matters when it comes to it - I mean... let's be real by the time endgame was out nat was waaaaay more popular than clint as a character, did it stop them from going the way they did bc they had planned the hawkeye tv show and he couldn't die? yeah exactly, so if they want him back/it's planned that he returns fans disliking ikaris won't mean shit I think XD but at the same time if richard doesn't want to sign deals for a franchise that would mean he can't take on projects he actually is more interested into then I can't blame him esp because like... I mean I did enjoy the movie and I'll prob keep up with the mcu but disney is at a point where as a company they only deserve worker unions to pull them back to earth if possible so X°D so idt it's like a bad career move

that said if you're disappointed he won't be in more movies it's absolutely understandable :((( and I am a bit bummed too because again I wanted him and kit to have scenes together more than that but again looking at the big picture I see why he wouldn't have wanted to commit :( also like if ppl hate ikaris it just shows to their crap taste tbh XD

What pisses me off about sexuality talk is that you can tell how homophobic people are. So much more people talk about Jack when we call him anything other than straight than when we talk about his personality, job or looks. There are people who don’t give a single shit about this man but show up to be like “well, he didn’t come out, he’s straight until he says otherwise”. And like, just let me make jokes about my fave being kind of gay 😩 I liked him way before that and I am going to like him anyway, it’s literally not important, but it’s also a part of him that I would like to talk about. I could make a Twitter and talk to his stans there but most don’t even post pap pictures so they wouldn’t want me speculating about his sexuality 😭 same with everyone else! Stop ruining it for the rest of us, get a hobby!

I think this is it. Like saying someone is maybe kinda gay isn’t insulting them if you’re basing it on idk shit they’ve done and said and they’ve never been like “UM PLEASE STOP” and honestly to me that latter response means the person is either homophobic or gay af and hates it and either way like… stop.

I think Saoirse is Kinsey -1 but I don’t think speculating she’s bi is wrong if you’re basing it on her being weird about men in interviews lol like go off who even cares? She doesn’t lol like she’s been like “I’m straight” on main several times but it doesn’t upset her imo because like why would it? Why would she mind?

Taron imo is also Kinsey -1 and has said he’s a straight man and explained his rationale for doing Rocketman despite being straight and not an asshole. If you want to make Richard x Taron jokes like Taron will probably be super flattered because he doesn’t care because he’s not yk homophobic.

Jack had the option to do what Taron and Saoirse and Josh O’Connor and shit have done done and be like “I’m straight but not homophobic and the director chose me and this was fun because I think love is love” but instead he was like “well I’m not OPENLY gay but you don’t fucking know my business!” and that’s… fair.

It doesn’t make him less with Saoirse, it doesn’t make him Kinsey 6, it doesn’t even mean he’d like gay sex lol imo like he’s the opposite of Tom Hardy I think where Tom dabbled and didn’t like it and Jack thinks he might like it but has not dabbled.

OUTING PEOPLE AGAINST THEIR WILL IS WRONG. Like if you find a video of Louis or Shawn fucking men delete that shit and erase it from your mind because both clearly wouldn’t want that known like they’ve VERY CLEARLY stated it makes them hella uncomfortable so either they’re very closeted or they’re homophobic. (I lean homophobic). But saying “well this person publicly said or did X so I think they’re maybe gay” isn’t imo any more wrong than “these people went to dinner so maybe they’re dating” in that it is invasive and wrong but it’s also the nature of celebrity culture.

The Music On Screen Revival Continues With ROCKETMAN (10 Takeways)

1. It was surprisingly interesting to realize that ROCKETMAN is pure musical (because some of us are lame AF when it come to musical...Not sure why/cant help it butwe love it! ;).It might go against every fibers in our being but we will gobble them all with excitement!)

Which means...

2. On the biopic side of thing if you thought BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY was brushed over, then boy oh boy, this one really feels like vignette wiith over-the-top acting (which does not necessarily mean bad acting) but the narrative is sadly lacking real depth and that was kinda frustrating... And it will surely annoy the people coming here thinking this was A STAR IS BORN kinda drama. (0oops!! #sorrynotsorry)

3. Having “the-very-Oscar-worthy-no-pb-no-complaint-Rami-Maleck” NOT sing for Mercury was the best idea ever ever (which btw also worked great back then before Boseman became T’challa cuz for example, some voices CANNOT be imitated.... Time will tell how Jennifer Hudson/Diana Ross will be welcomed - little doubt it will disappoint tho ;) ) But even though Taron ain’t bad at all, it was a bit sad not to hear Elton’s voice... BUT again, as a musical it worked perfect perfect!

So lets talk about the songs/music...

4. Why did they cut them short like 90% of the time!!! This was maddening and goes back to the “editing from hell” for peeps with short attention spams this films featured! 😭

5 & 6. Let talk about the costumes: Ssoooo flamboyant+!!! So lovely lovely and reminding us that (even tho some of us done it before ) Elton John dress-up costume can always be a thing ;) (or with a very 2019 twist ‘��Elton John Snow knows nothing” mix! ) Side note:Seriously whoever comes to see an Elton John movie and gets all “confused” about gay moments needs to stop right the F now! Nothing shocking at all in this, it is like your PG stuff. But sure this ain’t BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY cut for China! And thanks the production for that, because, BR missed the mark. However ROCKETMAN has straight dudes portraying non-strictly-straight leads which is kinda boring and “are we not suppose to be done with that yet Hollywood?!” BUT mixed-feelings on this one, as the man/the artist/the subject/The Rocketman himself approved, and rightfully mentioned that acting=most believable actor should get the role...😅 So whatever at least we got costumes fit for all folks and more 😜

7. Oh SEEING ROCKETMAN in theater will remind you of the power of CINEMA! Because nothing makes us more happy (no matter how good or bad the film will be ;) ) than going to see a movie on opening night (or even better at a fest or in any room full of connoisseurs!), a film made to be watched on the biggest screen avail, in a room full of strangers as eager as you - for the same or different reasons - And then you can feel the “magical” vibes the moment before any highly-anticipated flicks where the exiting trailers get people in the right kinda mood up until opening credit where we do no know what to expect yet....This feeling CANNOT BE REPRODUCED anywhere else. This is also the “magic of Cinema” and this is probably as close to a “church-like” feeling as it gets! So sure ROCKETMAN will be enjoyable at home BUT not sure some of us will appreciate it, and its technical value, on the same level if we were to see it at home... Sad but true just like a parade, some movies are not relating well when not “lived” with an audience.✨

8. Another one featuring “The dubious manager” stereotype. It has to be said that Graham cannot be a more suitable for this role! It is like he was born to do this! Once again showing that is defo one of the greatest character actor of his generation.

9. Unfortunately, although enjoyable ROCKETMAN might not be as award-worthy as one would have hope...

Sure some would do they best pushing for best actor/supporting (good job but don’t think so! Maybe a nom for Golden Globe for best musical and best acting in musical/comedy at best for) and then great odds for any award to do with costume and maybe long very longgggggg shot at directing....

10. Which brings us to Fletcher back at it again after BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (which in all fairness was more “epic” perhaps...AND DID NOT CUT SONGS HALFWAY TROUGH!!!!!!) Well, then okay dude go on with all the biopics you want we will watch it! ;) But but but tackling Madonna next seems like a “risky business”! BUT whatever bring it on man, we will take anything Madonna as well any day so good luck casting That! 😂🙈

MORAL OF THE STORY: ROCKETMAN ✔️ 7.25-7.5/10

To go back to this “music/musical on screen revival”, now that the uneven FOSS/VERDON is over and ROCKETMAN has been seen, it is time to give us YESTERDAY right NOWWWW! :) (and BLINDED BY THE LIGHT as well please) cuz some of us secretly wish YESTERDAY will become one of the best film of the year... We still have faith in “Danny Boy” lol lol lol )
