When Prime Universe Michael asks Philippa why she chose Mirror Universe Michael as her adopted daughter, the other children (presumed to be orphans like Michael) see Phillippa and run to beg for mercy, but Michael finds a way to fend for himself on a pile of garbage. He said he chose Michael because he was there. However, in the same episode, Mirror Universe Michael admitted that he had rebelled, shouting that he was the owner when he lived on the garbage heap, but he became Philippa's shadow as he lived as Philippa's daughter and could not stand on his own. In other words, Philippa highly appreciated the independence and strength of young Michael and took her as her daughter, but after becoming Philippa's daughter, Michael became dissatisfied and even prayed for a rebellion, claiming that he could not live as an independent individual.
