hi! i saw you make bnha critical posts and i hope this doesnt sound rude and you arent obligated to answer this but whats your opinion on the big 3?? when i was super fixated on bnha they were my faves lmao and iwanna hear more opinions about them, still mad about how they did nejire sooo dirty
Ah these characters... I remember seeing them so much on my tiktok that it only serves to make the canon versions of them more pathetic. So let's go over each of them shall we?
Amajiki: Let's start with the shy boi first. Honestly, he's a big fat mood for us introverts... but that doesn't mean I can't talk about THAT scene!
I don't really have a lot to say about him compared to the other two since I think his character is fine enough, but what I WILL say is that he's done so dirty when it came to Bakugou blowing him up.
Yeah. That fucking happens.
That is something Hori wrote and drew because he probably thought it would be funny.
Amajiki was rightfully scared to death of him and tried to get away, but Bakugou caught him and literally blows him up because he refused to fight him.
And again, this is all played for laughs and no one gets on to Bakugou for going overboard... not even Kirishima who should've been angry at him for hurting someone he's been getting close to!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wow! Glad to see people have their priorities straight here! And other than the occasional comment that gets what's wrong here, This once again shows how desensitized the fandom has become to Bakugou's behavior to where they think this is funny and nothing to be concerned about.
Because if Bakugou was THIS harsh during practice, imagine how it would go against an actual villain wanting to surrender.
Nejire: Oh Nejire, my sweet girl... Out of the trio here, Hori has done you the dirtiest.
Much like his other female characters in his story, you're only made to be fanservice and to just stand around and look pretty for boys to fawn over. To where your only shining moment was in a fucking beauty pageant, and not to mention Hori not even giving you a hero name while the other two get them.
You deserve so much better and to be just as well written as them.
Mirio: Honestly I don't have a lot of strong feelings for him since he's pretty simple.
He's meant to be who All Might could've chosen as a successor, but shows he doesn't need OFA to be a better hero as he strives to do it on his own.
But what gets me about him the most is that he never found out about Nighteye trying to groom him into being All Might 2.0 and his plan to get Izuku to give up OFA... and is now left to think of him fondly.
These three deserve so much more than what canon has given them, and with how much Hori screwed them over... it's better to just read fanfiction that expands on their characters.

so i let the hyperfixation win.
over the past several hours i rewatched Sword Art Online and SAO 2.
(this time dubbed, last time i watched it subbed)
here are my thoughts:
-anyone who said the dub was bad is just wrong. Kirito's VA really shines in the more comedic or sweet moments (like when first meeting Yui), he reminds me of like a Peter Parker. and oh my lord, the breakdown by Suguha's VA was just a masterpiece. Still have chills from watching it.
-i have such a big appreciation for every character. This time it really shined through how good of characters Kirito, Asuna, and Suguha actually are.
Kirito's internal conflict throughout SAO2 is so good, grappling with their actions they needed to take in SAO to survive. and throughout all of it you can tell how much they truly loves their friends and family, and how kind hearted they really are. Asuna definitely fits into that role as well, being so ready to take care of Yui and so desperately wanting her to be safe and loved and cared for.
And oh my gosh Suguha. I remember people absolutely hated her arc because it is problematic, but the fact is, it's played entirely serious, her feelings arent taken as a joke. She has a genuine and real internal struggle for feeling things she feels she shouldnt, and how she feels those feelings arent reciprocated or cant be reciprocated, and having her heart broken twice by someone who she loves and someone who also does still genuinely love her. Its absolutely heartbreaking to watch.
Man, Sinon is still fantastic. She's still my absolute favorite, and I think she is one of the best characters in the show, and pretty much steals the show from her introduction. Her arc ties in so seamlessly with Kirito's and how they help eachother heal and grow is fantastic. Only complaint is we never got a scene of the rest of the Gals being jealous about the grenade hug she gave Kirito. After Kirito and Sinon nearly died, wouldve been some nice relief so you didnt feel like you yourself were dying.
-Speaking of, while there was definitely a ton of fanservice, the pseudo-harem aspect with the jokes were kinda cute, between characters seeing flirting happen around them, getting embarassed over it, its fun. Especially when people got jealous of Sinon flirting with Kirito over Excalibur. That part was very fun, since they did that infront of everyone else, almost like they were trying to get a rise out of them. Theyre not exactly the pinnacle of comedy, its definitely a trope, but theres something nostalgic about it that makes it kinda enjoyable.
-Speaking of the psuedo-harem, guys if all of you are constantly flirting with eachother (not just Kirito surprisingly, happens between the other girls frequently) and jealous of any affection with that, just start a polycule. You're a group of gamer girls playing MMOs together and all of you have slept in the same bed with eachother. Stop snipping at eachother and start dating eachother. Polyamory is pretty cool. Kirito and Asuna can still be the main duo and be the parents to Yui and Strea; but yall gotta work on the jealousy or just do what every other group of girl gamers does, polyamory. Lisbeth you should not be angrily drinking while watching Kirito and Asuna talk. (this is mostly a joke, im not actually saying they *have* to do a polycule, its more of a joke because of how tropey a lot of the flirting and jealousy is, and yknow, gay girls do polyamory, so dont take this part toooooo seriously.)
-Speaking of girls dating girls, the LGBT rep aint half bad. Argo canonically using both male and female pronouns is really cool! Most of the girls flirt with eachother a lot too, which is nice. Between the female avatar, the willingness to pretend to be a girl, the introversion, the desire to be an avatar in a virtual world more than irl, Kirito might be transgender. All good stuff here.
Overall, SAO is honestly way better than I remembered, even if some parts definitely show its age. You gotta piece it together a little bit with headcanons, but i do that with every show, nothing is perfect. Except Sinon. And a world where trans Kirito is canon. Those are perfect.

hi. just found your blog and felt the need to say that i LOVE what you're doing. and also the need to share some of my own thoughts (over here hoping that this doesn't go against the guidelines in your pinned, lmfao)
despite me being a firm minsung believer (sorry if you're not LMAO, this is gonna be really awkward) i was always, like, really skeptical of other dating rumors. by other dating rumors i mean hyunlix, lol. i have thought that felix is into men from the get-go but the whole hyunlix thing never felt quite right to me. i've had my first "oh, are they...?" kinda thought after watching the recent changlix 2 kids show episode, but now going through your blog is just like... yeah. yeah they are. so thanks for that as well
the rest of this ask is gonna be a big tinfoil hat moment loosely inspired by you mentioning the possibility of changbin playflirting with hyunjin as a way to distract the public from the real deal because he might be uncomfortable with changlix shippers. it's also gonna be me taking my belief that changlix & minsung are dating and making it the baseline, so like... as i've said, if you're against minsung this will be awkward. LOL. but whatever :) i'm just some silly anonymous person on tumblr dot com
i think you're both right and wrong at the same time? as in, the playflirting is obviously happening to distract people from the real deal, but i don't think that it's changbin's decision to do so per se. i think it's the management. and yeah, ik that blaming things on the ✨ evil ✨management is like, poster girl for conspiracy behavior, but hear me out:
1. stray kids are quickly rising in fame and if i had to pinpoint when they started gaining momentum and had a breakthrough in the recent years, it would be 5 star era. full album, etc. with that influx of fans it's only natural that they would have to start being more careful with their reputation, which, of course, includes dating
2. coincidentally, the hyunjin/changbin thing started being pushed around the same time. even back then i thought it was weird, since it wasn't obviously just the boys having fun - i mean, no, i do think they're having fun and probably find the whole thing bloody hilarious, but it was more than just that. the way things they were edited, to include as many hyunjin/changbin moments as possible felt weird to me. i didn't even think of changlix as a possibility back then so it wasn't like i was biased, but i felt like the editors were just told to push hyunjin/changbin down the viewers' throats for apparently no reason
3. another coincidence - in the most recent comeback, right after their unit song dropped and people started freaking out because things began seeming real, the same thing started happening to minsung, except this time with hyunjin/minho
now i... don't think that the boys are being held hostage in the Fanservice Basement where the Evil Management is holding them at gunpoint. but i think it is highly possible that they were told to just up their game in the "fanservice with other members" department and that the editors were told to include more of these moments in the final cut. both as a distraction and as a safeguard. so every time there's a, say, changlix moment, people who don't really pay attention to the ships/don't care for that would excuse it with "well, changbin is like this with other group members as well, there's nothing suspicious about that", ykwim? they are also all adults and understand very well how the industry works, etc. i do find it weird that both times it's hyunjin at the crime scene, but then again - i think he also finds it pretty funny, and he's also one of the more popular members. any ship with him is guaranteed to have a certain amount of insane people ready to eat that up just because more fans means more crazies, lmao
but then again, this is just me and my tinfoil hat, oops. sorry if you do mind people waltzing into your inbox like this </3
hiiiiii sorry for responding super late, i hope you're still around to see this answer! thank you so much for this ask, i love it, it's so long and thoughtful! that said, i'm about to disagree with everything you said jdgfdsfsdg i'm sorry. first of all i don't believe in minsung at all. no hate to anyone who does, you're all smart and valid and beautiful but i don't think they're dating or they ever have been. i do think minho has a big sad unrequited crush on jisung or at least he used to but that's it. i think so because the minsung ship is treated as such a joke among the skz members. obviously it's the most popular ship in skz so the members love teasing them with it. i don't think they'd do that if they were actually dating. and now minchan is becoming a juggernaut ship in skz and chan is ON that fanservice train. he takes every opportunity he gets to make the minchaners happy bc he knows how to play the game. so that's the first point on which i fundamentally disagree with you.
the second one is the company involvement in changbin flirting with hyunjin. obviously there is a possibility that that's the case but i tend to stay away from what i call the larry excuse. the notion that the company is dictating what to do about fanservice and managing which ships are popular, pushing one ship when another gets too big or suppressing other ships feels silly to me. i don't think div1 concerns themselves with that. they just look at which ships are popular and push those because it makes numbers. also the larry excuse is just so lazy lmao. you can just say that it's the evil company's fault and no one can disprove it because no one knows shit about what goes on in that building. it's an easily defendable position. and that's why it's completely boring to me to discuss what the faceless people behind the curtain might be plotting because we will never know so we might as well just not even try to speculate, you know? i know we like to put every decision we don't like on the people we don't know, but i think the members decide what they do in terms of fanservice.
my point was that i think that changbin flirts with hyunjin bc he himself got a little uncomfortable with how big the changlix ship had gotten and he just didn't want it to be quite as centered. that's what it looks like to me based on how he interacts with felix and with hyunjin (side note, changbin's flirting with hyunjin didn't start around 5 star era, it started way earlier. maybe even as early as noeasy. i agree that it's gotten way more intense around 5 star but it has been going on for quite a while). i don't think he's actually trying to make people think he's into hyunjin, it's just playflirting. it's fun and it gets screentime and it makes people talk less about changlix. and it's totally working! changlix as a ship is becoming less and less popular and hyunbin is growing.
again thank you for your ask! i hope it's not disappointing to you that i disagree with what you said. but you know, i'm just one changlixer of many so it doesn't matter what i think!
❤️❤️❤️

I HAVE ICE TEA, TIME FOR EPISODE 2 im so scared
Tumblr media
iMMEDIATE winnysatang. i love them but i genuinely dont understand why it couldnt be seanmaitee.
im gonna rewatch simm after this and write an essay about why seanmaitee should be together, just in case theres anyone who doesnt believe me
Tumblr media
i have so many mixed emotions rn
i love them both so much
and there's no hatred towards them at all because theyre just the actors, not the ones in charge
and i do love winnysatang and i love the chemistry they have with each other
and theyre both so pretty
and bc theyre the same actors they make me think of soundwin and soundwin make me infinitely happy
but theyre not soundwin, theyre sean and nay
and sean is desperately in love with maithee, he has been for the entire series
and, as far as we know, in canon, sean and nay have literally never interacted so why are they suddenly sticking to each others sides??? why isnt sean sticking to maitee's side?? he's always at maitee's side, always has his arm around him, always looking at him. why did his character suddenly have to change once msp came out, just for winnysatang fanservice??
Tumblr media
is this neurodivergent backpack-holding i see here?
"i told you to wear warm clothes" "well i wanted you to hug me more" NO YOU DONT UNDERSTAND, THATS SO STINKING CUTE
Tumblr media
bro theyre so in love
theyre so in love
how are they so in love
i love them
Tumblr media
wait a sec (lmao win/nay in that screenshot looks great)
dont tell me naysean are gonna share a tent
that doesnt make sense even without considering the ships
sean and maitee are clearly the bestest of friends
even if you were to argue that the constant arms around each other is entirely platonic, it feels a lot like a close-friends-been-close-forever-dont-want-to-let-go-and-lose-you kinda thing, so wouldnt you expect them to share a tent?????
idk man
Tumblr media
sean captaincy reigns supreme
Tumblr media
dang it
GOSH DARNNIT PART OF ME KINDA LIKES THE NAYSEAN
going from two people who barely know each other because of a mutual friend and then they meet for the first time and theres like immediate attraction and yadda yadda storyline
i still think i prefer seanmaithee tho
hmm
perhaps nayseanmaitee
then everyone's happy
Tumblr media
how is he so pretty
and gender
gimme the gender pls
i want it
Tumblr media
seriously, the GENDER ON THIS MAN
THE WAY HE DOES THE GENDER
Tumblr media
...okay im starting to believe the naysean storyline
but i still want seanmaitheeeeeee
nayseanmaitee is still a strong contender tho
Tumblr media
sean, honey, you're not subtle
"i love him even more, every day" kluen, i love you so much. he's so whipped. hes so in love. it makes me the happy
Tumblr media
I CANT EXPLAIN IT, BUT KLUEN'S OBNOXIOUS (not in a bad way) AND UNAPOLOGETIC LOVE FOR NUEA IS SO FREAKING SWEET AND WONDERFUL AND INCREDIBLE AND I LOVE HIM SO SO SO SO SO MUCH
"or i might have been with someone new already" "then id be happy for you that you found good love" "that means you must be happy for me now" "why?" "because i found my very good love already" GI3U4EJRBGJKREBDGKHRE
LITLE KISSE

i think theyve had a conversation about this in the past. idk if it happened in canon (i dont think it did?????) but it feels like theyve had The Marriage Conversation before
Tumblr media
same
LITLE KISSE
lift and walk back into their room lmao
Tumblr media
captain is disappointed in his crew
"nuea, ive been rooting for you since high school" nay was the one tending at the docks or whatever and then the ship started sailing and the only one on the boat was sean and he was like 'ah shoot i better figure out how to make a ship not sink now'
i think im getting lost in the metaphor
what im tryna say is even tho nay's been there since high school, sean is still the captain

Hi, I really appreciate your points on Madoka! Thank you for providing that insight that is so desperately needed! Because I am so sick of dudebros acting like it's better than female-empowering Magical Girl works aimed at girls, or how whenever I or somebody else critiques the storytelling and message we just get told "Madoka is perfectly feminist actually and if you don't think so then you're just too stupid to understand how DEEEEEEEP it is go back to your stupid sweet and fluffy anime that's for GUUUUURLS" or alternatively "oh so female characters can't ever suffer ever and have to be happy all the time ever or it's misogynistic trash?!?!?!?! check and mate bitch" like I am just so tired. I'm glad to see your posts even though some of them are quite old. I have to say thank you once again for your genuine critique of Madoka because at this point I feel like I'm being punked whenever I talk about what's wrong with it.
Sorry! I saw this earlier and completely forgot to answer!
My few posts have given me a reputation as a Madoka hater (and, fair enough, because I certainly don't blame anyone who is. Please hate Madoka all you like). The truth is I really do like the original show quite a bit, but YEAH.
YEAH.
I think the thing that gets most exhausting for me, over and over, is bringing up these criticisms and being told, "No! Because Madoka fixed all that!" and even ignoring Rebellion (which I am inclined to do anyway), the girls still die.
They die.
The happy ending is a montage of girls dying. Which is a happy ending only because what they were getting before (specifically as a consequence of choosing to be a magical girl) was a fate worse than death.
And it's worth noting how the incubators are portrayed. They aren't portrayed as malicious. They aren't "evil" in that sense. What they are is practical and indifferent. They are taking advantage of inherent factors in the universe, not creating those factors.
Which means that there's something about PMMM that is saying, this is reality. At least in this fiction, this is the reality of femininity. And it is inherent to femininity! Kyubey even explains - it's weird! But only teen girls are like this! That's why we use them!
I think it's fair to be like, hey, that's fucked up. What kind of gender essentialist fatalism? Bro?
And it's also just denial to pretend it isn't about fanservice or a male audience.
As anyone who's been on my blog recently will know, I'm kinda super into Love Live! right now. It's cute. It scratches an itch.
And there's a lot of plausible deniability built into it, and a lot of pushback from English speaking fandom about it, but, uh, Love Live! is an idol game but it's also a waifu collector.
It's also a catalogue of nonthreateningly sexual anime teenage girls specifically designed to appeal first and foremost to lonely awkward Japanese young working men with disposable income.
And, idk, knowing that doesn't impede my ability to find it cute and wholesome and fun and escapist. The fact that it is that does lead to some of creative decisions that make the series less fun for me (it's not very diverse, for example. The yuri elements are subtext for another. And I either wish the girls were less sexualized or older, personally). But I'm not going to deny what it is.
I'm not even particularly interested in shaming the men its aimed at for liking it, or shaming the creators for making it that way per se (well, okay, sometimes I am interested in shaming the creators a lil bit). But I do think most the things about it that read as feminist to me as an American read that way because I am so far outside the original intended subculture. And I think the same is true about Madoka. You can absolutely read feminist messages in it. I certainly do. But placing these works in their original contexts tells a very different much more... regressive? picture. They were not made for women and girls. They are not made to uplift women and girls. They CAN! And they DO! Both in Japan and elsewhere! But that's anywhere from (at best) a secondary market to (at worst) a complete accident.
It's hard for some people to wrap their heads around because in America at least I think the idea of a "cute" (even if that's subverted in Madoka) media starring a large cast of only girls being for men is pretty alien to how we do stories and marketing. Here we understand playboy magazines and swimsuit editions, but we don't understand men collecting merch of a cute fictional girl they like. It would be seen as emasculating.
We understand the reverse. We get that boy bands and anime like Free! can be aimed squarely at women while being comprised entirely of men or male characters. Which is part of why I'm not shaming the male audiences, because... desiring anime tiddy isn't inherently predatory anymore than a lady desiring anime ass. And that's a crass way of putting it anyway. We don't frame hanging a boy band poster up that way, or playing a game like Mystic Messenger. It becomes more complicated because we live in a complicated patriarchal structure that protects and empowers men and women differently and unequally, but that seems like a poor reason to try to tell individual men they aren't allowed to enjoy things in a way that is obviously natural and parallels how... most humans like to enjoy some things sometimes.
But that also doesn't mean we can't look at those broad cultural patterns and... make observations. And have criticisms. And talk about how it affects people, and the back and forth between media and culture.
But, Madoka is for men first. The girls' suffering is a form of male gaze, and pretty unambiguously a kind of very very softcore torture porn for male gamer types. That's not a judgment against it, that's just its literal intended share of the market. It's a pretty easy read if you understand the context in which it was released and the culture it is coming from and catering to. My Little Pony is a little girls toy franchise. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sells toys to boys. Home & Gardens is for housewives. Top Gear is for car dads. These are true even if other people like them. When an adult fan of children's cartoons (I say, as an adult fan of children's cartoons) tries to say, "But it's not really a kids cartoon!" I feel about the same way I do when a feminist fan of some clearly male-centric media says, "But it's not really!"
And that's - own your shit. Own it. It's fine. It's fine to like it. It's fine to love it. It's fine if it means the world to you. It doesn't mean there's something wrong with you if you like a media that maybe isn't the most mature or progressive masterpiece out there. Just don't pretend there's no validity in obvious criticism. I love some real garbage made by real garbage people. I have survived.
Madoka exists in a fictional universe where the laws of that fictional universe are that 1) girls are uniquely emotional, 2) that emotion and their own aspirations can easily be harnessed against them in such a way that in the best possible universe all it does it kill them. In the normal universe it turns them into evil witches. That's just true. That's the world. I'm allowed to look at that, especially in conversation with magical girl media that came before, and go, "you know what? in that context, that's pretty fucked up" and it doesn't even mean that I stop liking the show, so I don't see why everyone else has to get so defensive about it.
(Y'all have no idea. Those posts are old now, but I got so many asks. I had to block so many people. I'm not trying to take your precious anime away calm down.)
Idk if I completely agree with the tone of my original posts - there's a little bit of offhanded vilifying of "men" as a shorthand for... all the bullshit... and I no longer love that language. I love men. Men are people. Some men can be shitty, but shitty individual men and patriarchy aren't the same. But I do still agree with all my broad points.
Plus, yes, also. The thing of a new (often male) fanbase getting into something you've been into for a long time with some new entry and acting like it both invented and fixed everything about the genre (PMMM and magical girls, Friendship is Magic and girl cartoons, Stardew Valley and farming sims) is frustrating, and to hear many an incurious nerd tell it, magical girls were floundering before Madoka! And I hate that.
Anyway, oops, I went on a little rant. That still makes it look like I don't like Madoka. I actually really do like the original series. I have rewatched it multiple times and probably will again. I even tried to play Magia Record (briefly - I couldn't really get into it). I can't speak to the many many spinoff media - but those have so many different writers and so much different lore that I think it'd probably be hard to try to pin any kind of single ethos to the franchise as a whole any more. But while I couldn't get into Magia Record I'd bet there's a short manga story or something that I'd love at this point. When you make like 200 magical girls or whatever that's bound to happen.
Thanks for the ask. Sorry Madoka fans are still so hyper defensive apparently. I hope you are able to survive them and find some better magical girl series out there. <3

Dungeon Menshi is in that fandom-culture position where there's very few people with outwardly bad takes about the show to shit on, so folks from the fandom go around picking apart people who praise the show, but don't praise it in the "right way."
Dungeon Menshi gets a lot of praise for "not being like other anime" and I get how to someone who maybe spends every day watching every new anime that comes out for the past 20 years, that can seem like a harsh/annoying criticisms against an entire category of animation, but like... lets be real, Dungeon Menshi clearly stands out from the pack, especially for a fantasy anime. No, it isn't "subverting" expectations -- I do think people use "subversion" incorrectly to describe any media they happen to like within a genre they otherwise don't like -- but its themes, pacing, characters, plot, and world building are all very unique when you look at what the other most popular fantasy anime tend to be.
Like, why are people trying to pretend we aren't currently in a vast ocean of derivative isekai fantasy stories lol? It's funny how anime fans will laugh and joke about isekai being such an overused trope nowadays, but then lock the fuck in whenever that point is presented as a genuine criticism lol. So many fantasy series are isekai or isekai-adjacent; I even had a friend who thought Dungeon Menshi was an isekai because they just assumed a popular fantasy anime would involve that.
And when presented with this criticism, anime fans will quickly tell you, "oh there's PLENTY of other anime out there! you just need to expand your view and find the good ones! you're just choosing to watch all the bad trashy anime!" And then what anime do they point you to? Well more often than not, they DON'T point you anywhere -- they're just speaking out of their ass -- but when they do drop a few titles to look into, those titles end up being objectively obscure -- series that no fair person would use as some example of standard conventional modern anime. Like yeah dude, I get it, anime like Kids on the Slope exists, there's tons of titles out there about all tons of different topics and that don't involve overwhelming fanservice or cliche tropes, but for each of these obscure titles from five-to-twenty years ago you can find, there's like five Konosubas actively being produced with active fandoms because these shows actually have market and fan appeal lol. It's just so annoying that we're all supposed to not criticize anime at any point because, well, there's one series within the haystack that isn't sick with fanservice and objectification and pedo appeal, so it's wrong to judge the industry/fan culture. Lol.
Dungeon Menshi doesn't just stand out for avoiding these types of tropes, it stands out for doing that and also being an exciting plot that's popular and has audience appeal. So few series within the fantasy genre of anime have accomplished this sort of story, where worldbuilding goes beyond why elves have huge tits or why the loli is actually 1000 years old, but also manages to not be a downright boring story, that still captivates a wide array of people with genuine fun and fantasy. It shouldn't be so startling to people that Dungeon Menshi would get this praise when the climate for fantasy anime has become so stale and repetitive; it isn't a problem that some folks "have only watched just one anime," and trying to frame it like that just... really reeks of trying to deflect the very real and justified criticisms anime at large deserves, criticisms that both the fan culture and the industry have had against them for decades.
in other words, it's impressive that some Dungeon Menshi fans have so little to be upset about that they have to go and find other people thoroughly enjoying the series to designate as the "bad fans" to get upset about.

question, did ever feel like the stuff that happened in 0.7 pt2 was like, forced? like it didn't make any sense. Like cross wasn't aware of how much ink knew and didn't know when it came the torture that Xgaster put the xtale cast through so wouldn't he be more angry at ink even though inks knowledge about it was limited? (i don't think cross is aware of that so thats why he should be more angry at ink by logic) even though ink was unaware of most of the stuff going on in xtale, he did know about the crap xgaster was going to do to undertale, and wound up betraying everyone in the process. Heck cross doesn't even know that fell and swap were killed by xgaster cuz he was brought back just a moment later! But Dream is aware, and ink betrayed dream too!
the thing is, I feel that inks actions were swept under the rug like "oh we allllll make mistakes". I'm not hating on ink or anything, but it feels weird for this to happen when one of the major things about undertale is that actions have consequences. heck he hasn't even apologized and DIRECTLY said what he did was wrong to cross. Like i said earlier all he does is like, "whoopise? i betrayed you cuz i though xgaster plan was good and now all Au's and a bunch of others are dead but now i see its bad so were all good." Of course its an exaggeration and there's still awkwardness between the two but there should be more anger towards ink from cross.
it doesn't matter that they were friends because by that logic then shouldn't cross be on his way to forgive X!Papyrus for attempting to murder him? (and in the comics that Jakie creates that take place outside the canon Underverse timeline, that doesn't happen. According to those, their relationship is rockier than Mt. Ebott during an avalanche) And Xgaster as well (okay maybe i'm pushing it). but you get the point
all im saying is that ink should be suffering more serious consequences other than a punch to the face from cross and a standoffish dream. Cross shouldn't be so willing to forgive him after everything he's done because it just feels so forced and fast (and im not sure that even fits into his character) and dream/core???? Dudes should at least call out Ink for what he did. I feel like both of them are dancing around the fact that because of ink (indirectly) an omnicidal manic has destroyed all au's except for outertale and undertale timelines, and now xgaster has control over the OG undertale and is screwing it up so badly it might separate from the multiverse.
For goodness sake if the XTALE gang is chill with ink after finding out what he had to do with Xtale, i'm just done. There should be at least, AT LEAST some misplaced anger towards ink, and some valid anger too.
And i swear if the multiverse gives xgaster the same treament i'm going to explode.
had to rewatch 0.7 pt2 to answer this one ‼️‼️‼️ (an excuse to rewatch underverse)
ill be so damn honest. 0.7 p1 and 2 have been confusing because of the constant scene changes and character drops. like wdym fresh and cross head from the omega timeline to the antivoid while ink goes from doodlesphere to antivoid ans then errors there for no other reason than to whine and complain and then it all swaps over to aftertale and then fatals weird black fight void??? it's just a bunch of scene changes and character additions (where the fuck did fatal come from) and ngl i think all these squeezed in characters and locations is just for the fanservice (haven't seen error since 0.4 and fatal errors been teased for a long LONG time)
also cross and ink and xtale and xgaster aren't exactly my expertise since yk yk im all about the m. t. t. but i'll still try 2 answer this ask ‼️‼️ i feel like you're totally right about how cross should be WAYYYY more angry because all he did was spend a good 30 seconds punching ink and berating him and then the rest of 0.7pt2 was just them having playful banter. i get that crink were good friends and cross probably still likes ink but if i came to found out that my friend was in kahoots with the one guy that i absolutely despise (and like you said cross probably didn't know the full extent of what ink knows and by that logic he should assume ink knew everything) i'd be wayyyy more pissed than just punching the fella once
i think that dream and core aren't calling ink out because of a writing standpoint. inks supposed to figure out what he did was wrong and stuff and grow from that on his own personally but i doooo still think that he should see the effects his actions have caused because omega timeline is probably in a state of emergency from how many people thatve been displaced. ink is due a few more harsh scoldings. but aside from dream and core nobody else really gives a shit that the multiverse was destroyed (or theyre not ALIVE to gaf 💀💀) since the only universes (timelines) left are classic adjacent and most classic adjacent ones r probably busy dealing with their own stories
overall yaaa i definitely agree that the recent underverse parts have bern a bit rushed but i think that's mostly just a writing issue. the fact that underverse is animated is probably hard to juggle with all the lore and stuff compared to if it was a fanfic or smth. the people wanna see more of the story/animation and jakei has to squeeze in all these little plot points into a feasible animation without making underverse 100 episodes long and having cross and ink reconcile in a realistic time period probably didn't fit into the narrative that jakei wanted to tell
underverse still goated tho but we allowed to be critical of things we like ‼️‼️‼️ (THANK YOU FOR THE ASK!!! IT GOT MY GEARS TURNING!!!!)

Only loosely aware of Honkai Impact, but saw some posts that sounded interesting. Who is Elysia and why is she apparently bad?
oh boi, what have you just triggered
be wary of spoilers!
General Information: Elysia is a side character from Honkai's mode Elysian Realm, which presents a simulated environment with sims of 13 warriors called Flamechasers from the time 50000 years before the main story, known as the Previous Era. she's ranked the 2nd Flamechaser - she was meant to be the 1st, but she gave up that title to someone else. as story progresses she's revealed to be the Herrscher of Origin (or Humanity or Ego, I don't know which title is used the most), basically the first Herrscher to exist and who sacrificed herself to make sure other people who turn into Herrschers remain their free will and are able to fight for humanity instead of Honkai.
(if I got anything wrong or you don't understand something, please refer to @phoenix-is-the-hottest-thing - they're our Elysian Realm lore master)
now for reasons why people consider her bad:
Bad Writing: Elysia is a shallowly written Mary Sue. Honkai has had two if not more cases of releasing Mary Sue-ish characters and while the first one ended up fine enough with all her stuff explained and executed well, Elysia ended up being a victim of Mihoyo's degrading writing quality as she was getting more and more shallow. all the characters end up being written into loving and complimenting her unconditionally and for no reason, even those who were initially sceptical and/or openly unfriendly to her.
Behaviour: she's written as someone who doesn't understand the concept of personal space, or maybe rather as someone who thinks everyone is about as friendly as her and don't mind her getting as close as she wants. she's overly friendly, touchy and even egoistic, because usually when she happens to give some compliment back it's just "you're as pretty as me". Some of dialogues with her might trigger someone with unwanted touch or never-taken-seriously trauma, at least in my case.
Fanservice: female Flamechasers were unfortunately written and designed with mostly fanservice in mind, and Elysia is no different. the design itself isn't bad, it's about as much revealing as your average female gacha game character. her personality though is clearly created for people who just want touchy anime waifu or watch some yuri given how much she keeps touching Mei (even though Mei is really not pleased with it). devs don't even try to hide it.
Cash Cow: Mihoyo did notice Elysia sells well and they're not discreet about shoving her everywhere just to get that extra money. Honkai has a trio of protagonists who are often portrayed together, but few times they even replaced one with Elysia just so she gathers some more attention than Bronya would. the shoving gets as far as making Raiden Mei's new battlesuit based fully on Elysia, almost erasing everything that's unique about her.
Retconning: there are a lot of retcons happening in new chapters, and Elysia is a subject of one (if not more) of them. the retcon refers to her sacrifice for Herrschers' free will - you see, people are known for gaining an evil alter ego when becoming Herrschers and/or lose control of themselves succumbing to Honkai's control and desire for destruction. Elysia and information about her sacrifice popped out like some sort of Deux ex machina, and her sacrifice contradicts what is shown in earlier chapters because according to its description Current Era Herrschers shouldn't have alter egos or be controlled by Honkai after it.

*Thor: Love and Thunder SPOILERS*
Here's part 2 of my thoughts on this movie.
Stormbreaker is sentient in this movie like Mjolnir.....SINCE WHEN?!?! The weapon never showed signs of being sentient in Infinity War nor in Endgame, so why now in Love and Thunder is it sentient here?! I'll tell you why. It was for an unnecessary plot point of having the ax be jealous of the hammer cause Thor wanted to call Mjolnir and Thor has to talk to Stormbreaker to reassure it that the ax isn't getting replaced.....that's why! 🤦‍♀️
Jane being Mighty Thor was actually cool to see. I'm surprised that she can fight in that form cause I didn't think she had experience in combat. Must've been something granted by the hammer.
Speaking of the hammer, apparently Thor put an enchantment on Mjolnir to protect Jane when she needs it...oh okay! Apparently, Thor can do that. Maybe he wasn't aware he can do that, but I don't know.
Oh yeah, how the two broke up. It was a "Dear John" letter....I'm not kidding, Jane wrote a breakup letter to Thor and left. Y'know, I didn't mind learning how the two broke up, but there was a nice deleted scene in Thor: The Dark World with the two and it was more serious and emotional than the scene we got in Love and Thunder. I wish that was where the Thor and Jane broke up cause that came off more amicable than the official breakup.
There's a place called the Shadow Realm which is where Gorr is hiding with the kids he's taken. Now, there is a Shadow Realm in the comics, which contained the Soul Masters and I think Knull and the symbiotes reside there too, but I could be wrong with that. But, in the MCU, it's just a barren planet of infinite darkness. Everything's black and white, no color. Also, every time the Shadow Realm gets mentioned in this movie, I think of Yu-Gi-Oh! 😆
Russel Crowe as Zeus....oof....big oof. I don't know if it's because of the actor or if this is how Zeus is supposed to be portrayed in this movie, but Zeus was just....yeah. Well, they definitely set him off to be a future antagonist. And, he's an @$$hole here, which honestly shouldn't be a surprise cause he's an @$$hole in Greek mythology.....also a grapist (minus the g). His accent....I'm not sure if his accent was supposed to be a Greek accent, but it was something.
Where the hell are the other Greek gods? Where is Hera, Zeus' wife?! Cause I'm pretty sure she wouldn't be okay with her husband having a harem(?) with him during that meeting. Also, are those men and woman gods too or are they mortals? And, why did they let Valkyrie take the lightning bolt?! They just stood there and stared at Valkyrie, and one of the woman got a kiss on the hand. I shouldn't expect much from this movie, but I can't help but ask these questions.
Speaking of the kiss on the hand, that's basically all you get with Valkyrie interacting with another woman. If you're expecting to see more of her bisexuality in this movie, I'm sorry but that's not gonna happen. A kiss on the hand and her talking about her maidens is all you're gonna get. Also, Korg at end gets a husband named Dwayne (get it, cause he's made of rocks....hahaha) so he's gay. I think that's all the LGBTQ+ representation this movie has, or I may have missed some.
And now the elephant in the room, Thor accidentally being stripped by Zeus. Now, I don't mind fanservice, but I'm probably one of the few people that got weirded out from seeing this scene (once Chris Hemsworth's butt was exposed, I immediately looked away). I know there are those that'll love seeing Thor naked, but think about the circumstances that led to that. Thor was forced to be nude in front of a lot of gods and his ex and friends. Sure it was an accident, and later on Thor said that he didn't have a problem with it, but what if he did have a problem with it? What if he wasn't okay with it? It would've been bad if Thor wasn't okay with it if that's the case. I also hope that the actor was okay with filming that scene, btw. Anyway, what if it was Jane or Valkyrie that was forced to be stripped? I know more people would've been vocal if that happened to either female characters. Cause, we live in this double-standard world where it's fine to force male characters in those situations when it's not okay to have that happen to female characters. I personally think no one should be forced in noncon scenarios , whether be male, female, nonbinary, or genderfluid.
Speaking of Jane and Valkyrie, it's really messed up that they thought to wait to help Thor because they wanna ogle at Thor's nude body. Like, I get that Thor's hot, but come on! Again if the genders were swapped, people would be more vocal on why this is messed up.
Korg almost dies....honestly, I would be a bit sad, but I'd move on. It's fine if other people like Korg, I'm just kinda indifferent really.
Zeus didn't die from getting hit by his own lightning bolt. I don't know how he survived that, but he did. Guess it's cause he's a god and him being the God of Lightning wouldn't get killed by his own weapon. Would give a sense of irony though.
When Thor was talking via astral projection or something (courtesy of Axl I think), Valkyrie thought it'd be amusing to tickle his nose with her braid. This was just an unnecessary comedic moment, I think, cause he's trying to talk to the kids and it's a very important task, and Valkyrie's trying to interrupt him cause amusement.
Eternity, in the comics, Eternity was the embodiment of the Seventh Cosmos. Eternity was all that existed along the fabric of time across the entirety of the Multiverse, having been formed to ensure the boundlessness of creation. In Guardians of the Galaxy, it was mentioned that he was one of the four cosmic beings that created the Infinity stones. Here? He's a wishing macguffin. That's his purpose! Come to him? He'll grant you a wish! Well, at least they got his shape right, but that's it. Hell he doesn't even talk.
Speaking of wishes, I'm gonna have to assume that Thanos didn't know about Eternity. Cause if he did, he'd have to get something to summon the bifrost to get to Eternity and have his wish granted to wipe out half the universe. Would've saved a lot of time if he knew. Now, it seems to imply that Thor and Valkyrie heard of Eternity so that got me thinking....why didn't any of them suggest to find Eternity to wish everyone that got dusted away to come back?! Would've saved A LOT of time, time travel wouldn't have been invented, Black Widow and Iron Man wouldn't have died, a massive war wouldn't have broken out, and Captain America wouldn't have gone back to the past! Either those two didn't know, or did know but forgot about it. *sigh*
Anyway, that's it from part 2. Part 3 will be the last part.

Well, thoughts about the finale Disclaimer: Through the whole series, I tried pointing first the things I liked and then mention things that were eh to me or I disliked nut in a soft tone, as a way to avoid spreading negativity and such. This is a warning, the salt is strong with this one.
Things I liked! The scene where Ezra rebuilds his lightsaber. Finally mentioning Kanan. I wish the lightsaber had been green like his last one but oh well
That shot of Anakin at the end watching over Ahsoka. More thoughts about this later, but Hayden was like, one of the few highlights of this series tbh Ezra arriving and meeting Hera again, a hug would have been nice, but oh well
Now, for the rest: This episode dragged, I swear I kept looking at the time left. And in the end, it was all for nothing. Yes, Ezra is back, but now Ahsoka and Sabine are in the middle of nowhere. And Thrawn is back too, so just a fucking mess.
No mention of Shin or Baylan until the very end with no dialogue scenes. The Father and the Son on Baylan's last scene? pure fanservice Also, Sabine learned no lesson, and now it's confirmed she's FS in the cheapest cliché they could have gone with. Also, you're telling me she can see FG Anakin now but not Ahsoka?
Speaking of Ahsoka, her speach about Anakin standing with her was nice and tied neatly and it was a callback to the wrong jedi arc but also, she's like what, 40? at this point in the story?? and Anakin (even with him being my fave) has tried to kill her, which I think undermines that statement tbh. I understand Filoni loves putting the Anakin & Ahsoka content and have them be wholesome but also, pls stop
I only watched Ahsoka to see Hayden back as Anakin. I tried my best to remain positive about it but it was, in the end, a pointless story with a plot that is paper thin at best. The pacing was all over the place, it made several characters that were loved and had a neat arc unlikable and the lackluster ending just gives you a feeling of "what was even the point?"
(and that's not even getting into the anti-Jedi comments Filoni dropped on different episodes. You can like Anakin as a character and be fair to the Jedi, see Obi-Wan Kenobi series) Unrelated bonus: I saw several people mentioning how they wished Ahsoka had mentioned Obi-Wan at one point, how he was her other master and wasn't a mass murderer like Anakin was. She was never that close to Obi-Wan. Most of her interactions with him were tied to Anakin. She got episodes with other Jedi masters in TCW but never with Obi-Wan. Her arc in Rebels and season 7 was more connected with Anakin/Vader and Rex than Obi-Wan. The Obi-Wan Kenobi series don't even have Obi-Wan thinking about her and now we get this series where the same happens. I think it's time to, at the very least, admit that the "her two masters" thing is mostly fanon.

ohoho, 1, 21, 22, and 25 for the complaints ask game!
Peace was never an option🔪
Complaint ask game
1) The character everyone gets wrong
Camilla. No question. It's so bad even the devs get her wrong.
Although it's understandable when they take a character who has clearly defined positives and flaws as well as a reason for why she is the way she is, and turn her into miss fanservice by quite litterally constantly showing her boobs and ass to your face. Also the Cowmilla comment. (I will forever be salty about her Birthright cutscene. All the other siblings besides Sakura and Elise get cool cutscenes and she gets... that. Just to show off her private parts)
It's just- there is so much more to Camilla than meets the eye, so seeing most of the fanbase as well as the devs view her as nothing more than a sex symbol that may have incestous feelings for Corrin (granted, that one's more on the fandom), and it's just so disappointing and frustrating. Also I may be wrong but I remember people diagnosing her in the early days as in, a derogatory way. Because nothing like vilifying mental illness.
21) Part of canon you think is overhyped
*whispers*... Genealogy's writing.
Don't get me wrong, it has plenty going for it, but at the same time it sometimes won't stop bombarding you with so much exposition at once for things that aren't even necessary at the moment (less of an objective flaw, more of an "my ADHD ass will never remember everything you throw at me this way"), stuff that even gets to the optional dialogue, as usual most of the characters have very little dialogue unless you hit very specific conditions (and don't even get me started on the marriage mechanic), the game kinda peaks at Gen 1.
Not to mention Jugdral is definitely good as a world, yes... But unless you start factoring in outside material and Thracia, it's not as deep as some fans make it up to be. Which is not a problem for me but at the same time look, it ain't no Similarion.
Most of it could easily be fixed with a remake, I'll admit. Provided they don't fuck it up by, say, adding an avatar. (and if I do I will start killing)
22) Your favorite part of canon everyone else ignores
Valla. Or, well, more the idea of Valla than the actual execution, but I will still die on this hill that it could have been so good if the writers actually bothered doing something with it to make it an actual place that people used to live in.
25) Common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
Wildly gestures at everything about Fates
Look, I really like Fates and it's far from a perfect game, but most of the criticism it gets it feels either in bad faith or from someone who hasn't played it for a long time or is just parroting something someone else said because Fates is the acceptable game to clown on.
And oh my god, it's been seven years, consantly whining about a game you didn't like is not constructive criticism, move on.

This is my thing with War of Y. I love the idea of just a messy messy show with messy characters. And given the soap opera vibes, I want to get invested. Plus, Billy and Seng are doing an amazing job. I loved them in SCOY, and they both are clearly talented, so good for them.
But, ugh. Like, listen. I am a trashcan. I will consume garbage at an alarming rate. I was so emotionally invested in DSN - I remember waiting for Line to post the videos and then running over here to comment. Plus, YongJie is still my awful baby.
All this to say, I have very few standards or requirements.
Truly, my only requirement is that I need a happy ending in my BL.
I just feel like this isn't going to end up being a happy ending. Honestly, I'm not even sure this is going to be a 'BL'. The vibes I'm getting are that Pun is into Nott, but it's all about the acting for Nott. And so it'll end with Nott moving onto different acting partners while Pun like...idk either leaves the industry or goes behind the camera.
And yes, it will narratively work and probably be a very strong statement on BL culture and fanservice.
But also I am trash and I come here to watch the characters fall in love and live happily ever after even if they are stepbrothers (god, what have I become).
Yeah, I'm not totally sure where War of Y is going and I totally could buy this going either way, either happy ending or separation or realism or just... a thousand other ways.
I just don't know. I can't predict these things.
They could make this a real statement about fanshipping and BL culture and fanservice... and it could be that and still end up with a happy ending because they know that's what we expect out of BL.
It could go so many ways and I'm not gonna try to predict any of it.
We have twenty episode. TWENTY. TWO-ZERO episodes of this spread across multiple stories. We could have some happy endings and some miserable endings and some wonderful or all happy or all miserable and we just... we could have anything.
Honestly, for all the mess, I kind of suspect we get a happy ending. Could I be wrong? Absolutely. But could this also be a commentary about how shallow this kind of entertainment can make a person act while hiding deeper emotions and showing that for all that Nott tried to make it a surface relationship for the work it turned out to be deeper and that he ends up taking up protecting Pan because of his issues.
Like, these stories could go so many ways and take us on twists and turns and it's just about impossible to tell where it's going to end.
I am trying to expect nothing, hope for at least a remotely happy ending and I encourage anyone uncomfortable with it or unsure to wait. Wait and watch what you're comfortable with or don't watch it.
Don't be me. Don't watch shows you don't think you're going to enjoy just for the sake of watching them. I'm not saying that about War of Y, mind you, I'm in this for a disaster of a mess and I am basically expecting nothing beyond that and lots of parallel wildness and Cheewin being Cheewin.
But if you need a happy ending... yeah, I'd wait to see for these. Same with Oh! My Sunshine Night. Those are shows that I do not trust to have a happy ending for all the couples.

Okay, the liveblog continues: Ep. 4
Oh don't brood Mal, there's clearly nothing going on with Alina and Nikolai. Unless you're brooding about her ambitions, in which case... Bro.
Poor darling. Also shut up Baghra.
...yeaaah. Let's just say that I'm never, ever a fan of the 'I just want you and a Normal Life and I don't like it that you have other interests and goals' trope.
Not that I don't appreciate that some drama is introduced, things were a bit too harmonious to be narratively interesting, you know?
But still... Alina, baby, you don't need to apologize or placate him.
Oh look, a cartoonishly evil prince. Yay.
Also, I'm not sure if I should be impressed by Vladim's name or not because while it is a real albeit rare name, I can't help thinking the writers just couldn't spell 'Vadim' correctly and just assumed there's an 'l' in there. But maybe that's just me and my infamous Name Nitpickery.
Now that I'm on a roll with the complaints, I'm still kinda baffled at Kirigan's whole thing. I don't understand his plans or motivations because from the way the show has unfolded it honestly appears like was reasonably chill if somewhat schemey for a long time and then just totally flipped and decided to become a cartoon villain. I understand Baghra's motivations even less. But maybe that's the point?
Aww, those were some very loud and clear 'I love yous' from Kaz in his language. Freddy is totally running away with this season, eh?
Oh David.
...Yeah, Nina's cunning but I did not for a second believe she could have blindsided Kaz.
Yeah, Kaz is absolutely scarier than Kirigan. Shadow monsters or not.
And Mal can't catch a break, huh? To be fair, though, this is kinda consequences of his own actions.
Vasily is a creep but he has charisma and presence I feel Nikolai should have as well, even if of a different flavor. I'm not at all sure that's the case, but the jury's still out.
Not sure I'm entirely buying Jesper and Wylan this fast but they're cute so eh.
Oh Kaz.
Ah, I did wonder at how different the brothers look. Well played. And it's definitely better when he's not putting on the act.
Okay, they are really cute friends. I'm absolutely pro Alina having good friends.
Bye, Vasily.
Ah, so Nadia wasn't a Tidemaker, then. I wonder where I got that idea.
I wish I could have been impressed with that confrontation but Kirigan is such a cartoon villain now him and Alina trading barbs and dramatic declarations just feels kinda silly. And am I wrong for having the idea that in the books there was still some spark between them at this point? This feels entirely one-sided. Which is a pity, honestly, there was so much potential with Jessie and Ben in these roles.
Ep. 5
Hah, six of crows, one being imprisoned. Well played.
Ben's doing his best with what he's given, though, absolutely.
Ah, so that's the deal with the gloves.
I really love the Crows, okay.
And I like that Nina and Zoya get to interact.
David and Genya though. 😭
Why is everyone so keen to trust Baghra, though? Has Alina not spilled the beans? 🤨
Okay, I do like it that while they're blessedly not teenagers, they're still damaged and young and not that good at this relationship stuff.
Oh Genya. 😭
Aww, I love that Inej is praying with Tolya even if it's not her faith.
Oh Zoya. She's really been though it too, hasn't she?
These two keep making me weep. 😭 They deserve everything.
*replays the scene for seven times in a row*
I bet that's hell and a half go gif though with the lighting. *sigh*
I love Tolya. Can I have one?
Nina and Kaz pretending to be married is not something I knew I needed. 😂
That's big though. Even if he had to do it.
Oh honey.
I love that Inej knew to flinch back. She gets it.
Ahh, that's the line. I know that line. I bet Ben insisted on it.
This is basically just fanservice but I'll take it.
Yeah. I mean, these kinds of differences don't solve themselves with time and patience. Someone will always have to make sacrifices. *sigh* Not saying she should go back for seconds with Shadow Boy, but... you know?
Oh, this is getting interesting. *Daredevil flashbacks*
Ooh, that's the second F-bomb this season. Nice.
Okay, they would have been a good arranged marriage. I'm a little bit inclined to ship it a tiny bit now.
Poor Kolya. There will be a bearer for your ring yet.
Zoya baby, you do not make a very good Crow.
Huh, I think I know what this means.
Ep. 6.
I still think it's a little foolish to trust Baghra so unconditionally, but eh.
They're holding haaaannnds. 🥺
Jesper backstory yeeeeess.
Yeah I still think the Morozova thing is stupid. The name, I mean. It makes sense for her to be Morozova but not any of her male kin.
Poor baby.
I think I see where this is going. I've seen enough book spoilers.
Poor Inej. I mean, I'm a little bummed they had her hallucinate a romance scene when the boys had family-related visions. But eh, fanservice.
...yeah, thought so. It's a biiiit convenient, but there ya go I guess. *sigh*
Okay, who's the choreographer? Because this is genuinely some good shit.
All of this? And it's only the sixth episode?? Huh.
Stop making me cry, show. 😭
Oh Jesper. 😭
Oh Inej baby don't get all Darkling on us now.
Honestly, I wish I could care. Archie and Jessie are doing a great job. But... meh. Maybe it's because I know how it ends already, even if I didn't know any book spoilers.
(Also if they do some bloody pregnancy trope I'll fucking riot.)
Frankly, it's a little difficult to care about anything that is going on in Alina's story, except Genya and David, especially when the Crow side is firing on all cylinders so to speak. The mashup worked better last season, now the difference is getting obvious. Alina's story feels more and more like a fairytale in comparison, and within the same show it's a weird whiplash.
Ep. 7
I guess Tidemakers don't have green keftas after all, that's just Kirigan's little cult and their fancy velvet. Boo.
Not the bloody meadow. I'm sorry but enough is enough.
This, though? This I approve. Ben and Archie are always fire together.
Come on, Alina, stop breaking poor Nikolai's heart by giving him back his things.
Aww, you boys have come a long way.
Theeeeey. 🥺
Nikolai I love you but master strategist you are not if Kirigan's dumb teen posse can outsmart you this easily.
Oh David.
Kolya, honey, this is why you do reconnaissance and don't jump to conclusions. Time was on your side here. 🤦‍♀️
Honestly, this is all so silly if you think about it for even a second.
Hi baby, just what we needed to bring some sense into this mess.
Well, someone's clearly trained his troops some strategy and tactical maneuvering at least.
Finally a smart idea.
Tolya don't you dare get killed. You're too sexy to die.
Alas, poor Dominik. You were always doomed.
And you two don't you DARE.
No David noooooooooo-
Well, one episode to go. Let's see if this is the end of Alina's story.
Ep. 8
Oh Kaz. 🥺
Please someone find David and save him please.
Huh, I didn't expect that would actually happen. I don't expect it to stick, though. Mal, I mean. Doesn't fit the fairytale.
Yeah, didn't think so.
No. 😭😭😭
If anyone deserved a happily ever after it was them. 😭😭😭
I wish the whole Darkling thing hadn't been so anticlimactic and sort of pointless, apparently. Oh well.
Well, I'm glad they want it to be choice, not destiny. Destiny is overrated.
Come on boy, you can do it.
Guess not. :p
Well done. You'll get there.
Awww, I like this. And Kolya found a new bearer for his compass. :D
Tolyaaa, I support your endeavors but I think she's pretty much spoken for. She deserves some of that, though, you're right. 🤭
Okay, Nikolai does wear the coat better, though. Might have suited Inej the best, honestly. It's her color.
Proud of you my boy.
Oh, it's this creep.
Oh well then. I wondered what twist we'd face next.
Bet you could, Zoya, bet you could.
Well, that's one way to start your reign.
And that's certainly one way to react to just using the bloody Shadow Cut, Alina.
More conclusive thoughts tomorrow night, but overall I was actually still very impressed and happy to be back in this world. I hope we'll get more. And no offense to Paddy but if Shadow Boy decides to make another comeback, I hope it'll be Ben playing him, as frankly underutilized as he was this season.
Anyway, now some sleep.

Looks: :D Yess round faces are so pretty!!! And omg, I’m so glad I got the majority correct!!! Lucky guess?
Oh my gosh, yes I have loose curly hair, my hair is a medium brown and I recently got blonde highlights :O!! As for the length, I just got it cut too so it’s about 2 inches past my shoulders!
Awww thank you, yes I love adding accessories to my hair specifically golden ones, I feel like the gold goes well with my skin tone! My recent favourite has been a simple golden butterfly clip :D!
Since I mentioned my skin tone; I am brown skin which I’m sure you could’ve guessed based on what I’ve told you in the past :)! It’s a light caramel if that makes sense. Just in case you forgot I am black and Asian 🙃
For my eyes, they’re dark brown, but in the summer they lighten some so yes and no ;)! I'm flattered you thought hazel, I love hazel eyes!!
YES! I am 5’6 and 1/2 :o can’t believe you knew!!???!?!?
Yesss again, my face shape is heart shape/oval ;)
😳How do you know these things? Yes yes and yes I love trying new styles, I’m never able to confine myself to one style because I love mostly all!!
gaahhh! i think i did forget but when i came to your eyes, i remember being like 'i feel as though i should actually know this...' but then i was like 'nahhh, beautiful cc has pretty hazel/green eyes' lol i think that's why i also said 'light brown' - it felt kinda right XD
i'm actually surprised by how much i got right bc i thought for sure that i definitely got a lot wrong but nope! hehe~
yayayayayayaaaaayyyyyy! wahhhhhhh!
it's your fun and loveable personality! that shows through your style and appearance -^7^-
also! just throwing this in but the stereotype anime character I see you as is the tan-skinned, blonde haired, very friendly and outgoing gyaru! i know most of them are there for fanservice but scratch that, to me, you embody all the good things about them: you're fun, easy to talk to, kind, loyal, a great friend with an infectious energy and always brightening people's day and also very very very beautiful too not just in appearance but in personality too <3

flattered to be villain expert anon. i just want to finish up that the anon is objectively wrong (and i'm sorry but i learned so much about writing dissecting ygo when you go beyond oh silly cards games because there is so much talent and craft there, they don't actually pull in hack writers, they good writers in and then tie their hands) zexal is not the worst it just has a bad reputation. vrains is objectively the worst, do you know how bad a ygo spinoff cashcow has to be to be cancelled a third of the way into its run and get ygo pulled off air for 2 years? all the seasons have pros and cons and honestly solid writing in various areas that sync really well with some of the stuff that aftg really sucks at discussing (go sit and the corner and think about what you've done aftg fandom when ygo fandom is more mature and better at nuance than you):
DM: mostly filler and iffy animations but amazing once it gets to egypt several hundred episodes in (aka the bit the mangaka was actually invested in)
GX: fun school romp, fascinating descent into madness for the mc, rushed ending because the mc's voice actor wasn't booked properly so had to rush the important scenes and cut everything else.
5Ds: the older edgier darker atmosphere that doesn't stick the landing, wanted to be about cults and inequality (if you want cults 5Ds arcadia is great, they actually attempt to sympathetically tackle what it's like to leave a cult when you were their poster child) and does a really good job in the first half (also just everything about the dark signers is peak ygo fanservice), before the director got sick of the board forcing product placement over story and changing things last second so he couldn't even adjust properly so left to do symphogear (a show mostly unknown over in english fandoms but is one of the most anime anime ever and regularly goes toe to toe with giants like HQ, AOT, YoI and MHA for ratings), and also the tokyo subway cult attack happened and one of the voice actresses was in said cult, so a quick rewrite was done that made no sense.
Zexal: is the best villain writing in the series, pick a villain type it's got it and it's written it pretty damn well, has the best rating for any spinoff in japan and the only one of the first run of spinoffs not to have controversy, making it more cohesive as a whole, but it has a brighter style to hide the darker themes, and a younger protagonist, used as a jumping on point for new younger fans and even fans suggest skipping to episode 12/13 to avoid the worst of that and get into the plot when the real villains start appearing.
Arc-V: (pronounced 5, which sucks because Zexal spent its entire run telling us V= vee) the 5Ds director returns, then has the same issue of the board interfering just as a new season of symphogear is confirmed so leaves half way again, and once again you can tell (ygo fandom loves to blame director ono for shit he wasn't even there for), but if you want a decently good story about forcing yourself to bury your emotions and just be happy, the horrors of war and the realities of making children save the world, it's a pretty good one until about episode 80, honestly does a great job of tackling child soldiers and their cult mindset and what happens when that is challenged and the various reactions from rejection all the way up to well i've done too much shit to change paths now to the ygo equivalent of suicide.
Vrains: so much potential absolutely wasted, a really good attempt to tackle childhood trauma and abuse and ptsd and the need for revenge on your abusers and how far it can take you but plagued by behind the scenes drama that left the show itself a mess that got cancelled only a third of the way in.
all to say ygo gets written off as a dumb show about a dumb card game but its got some real writing talent hidden in there the same way aftg has if you're willing to pay attention and have some media literacy. and i am sorry for forcing my ygo has good writing once you get through the bullshit opinions on you
been distracted sorry it's okay ! appreciate expert's helps with navigating this !!!
