Idk if there is anyone out there who needs to hear this but:

If you’re having issues with your gender, sexuality, or just identity in general… it’s ok. It’s okay to discover yourself, it’s okay to change, and it’s ok to be comfortable with who you are now. Everyone goes on their own journey at some point, you should embrace yours. If you ever worry it’s “just a phase”, that is okay. You are allowed to try new things and experiment, you are allowed to realize if what you thought about yourself wasn’t true. You are allowed to grow and you’re allowed to change.

Happy Pride Month to all fellow members of the alphabet mafia! 🥳 🏳️‍🌈

With that out of the way, it’s time once again for an activity update! If you’re new here: these monthly posts help me to keep track of what the frick I’ve been doing, particularly when tumblr breaks or the brainfog strikes. ~ Happy Pride Month ~

I’m still struggling with a lot of mental health issues right now, but it’s Pride Month, and if anything in the world makes me feel like I have a reason to stay on planet Earth, it’s helping others.

I want this post to not only be a celebration of my own identity, but also as a message to my other fellow members of the Alphabet Mafia.

The very first time I came out, it was as bisexual. It’s been a crazy, epic journey since then, filled with confusion and dysphoria, but it’s also one that I don’t regret for even a second.

I have had a hard time coming to terms with my identity because of its complexity. I never anticipated being someone whose list of labels grossly exceeded a handful. Quite frankly, there were years of my life spent desperately trying to deny certain aspects of myself just so that I didn’t seem like I was “hoarding” labels.

If you don’t know, if you’ve only just come across my account, I am a nonbinary trans man, a sex-repulsed asexual, I’m biromantic and polyamorous and, for my other fellow 18+ beings out there, a kinkster too! Heyy 🤗

Most people would read that and call me insane, say there’s no way I could be so many things, and I thought so too for a long time, but I’ve never felt more comfortable in my identity than I do having all these labels to describe myself. It’s like I’ve got my own little rainbow all to myself 😊

I feel so proud to be able to say those words and know that they fit me so accurately and that I have some many groups within this community to find friends and family.

Which brings me to my next point. I have a lot of people to thank for helping me along on this wild ride. The amazing people I’ve met in this community who have inspired me and given me the courage to fight my way through whatever life threw at me. I couldn’t possibly tag or mention them all, so I hope you know who you are because I will always be so incredibly thankful for every ounce of support, love and kindness you have given me, even when I was going through those really rough phases of self doubt and identity crises. There’s no amount of words that I could say to express the amount of absolute gratitude I feel.

Finally, I want to dedicate this post to our Alphabet family who had their lives cut short for any number of reasons; be it hate crime, suicide, illness, accident, etc. I am very privileged to be in a place where coming out was safe. I am very privileged that I have not experienced a violent hate crime and that I am able to outwardly express my identity. I know a lot of you are still closeted because you don’t have that privilege and I want you to know that it’s okay to celebrate Pride with us in a way that keeps you safe. Because that is the biggest priority for you right now. You’re still just as valid and just as important to this community as all of us who are out and I hope one day you will be in a place where, if you feel comfortable, you can come out safely too.

Those we have lost will never be in vain. Their lose is what continues to catapult us toward making a change in the world. To bettering our society so that one day, every single being who has a rainbow inside them can be as bright as they want without the threat of an overcast ever again.
