I've been trying to write a smart post about Tozer&Irving and Tozer vs Irving in relation to Hickey, which is the point they diverge on. ecause they're strangely set up in parallel; Tozer has been given uptight Irving's glass, which eyes emoji, and they both occupy a strange position of authority but also being underneath authority as a Marine Sergeant and Third Lieutenant, and of course their seduction, both failed or successful, by Hickey. He reads them both and plays them both because they are so similar yet so different.

Their loyalty to their men who def take the loss of their leadership as a hell of a blow, and of course the sense that Irving is the only Terror Lieut Tozer respects​ let alone seems to like... their strange background but clearly comfortable chat in ep 3, but then Tozer again is fairly okay with his murder.

And then of course, looping back to how they were both want out of their skin in the horror of the Hickey lashing they were forced to watch and more or less participate in but how they both took different trajectories from it. The way Hickey's touch, ultimately, destroys them both, and yet they both take a strange comfort in it....
