What things in daily life remind you of each other? wiiith whomever needs more attention lately :)
I HAVE TO TALK ABOUT RAND AND KIAN AND ROLAN. ITS TIME TO GIVE MY WEED SMOKING BOYFRIENDS SOME ATTENTION /SILLY
[Okay this got long as HELL lmao, my b, under the cut time!]
[Also I JUST realized this said daily life. Ig some of these still apply so its fine!!]
For one, weed. I mean that's a given I think. Like if I had to have my "yeah obviously that reminds me of them." It would be weed and cigarettes and d&d.
But, if I were being more specific. I get reminded of Rand a lot by Led Zeppelin- music, merch- stuff like that. And cars! The smell, the sounds- Kian and him are really weird about cars. I think I'm meant to understand it but I don't no matter how many times they explain it to me. Which funny, because Rand has told me that whenever he sees a car he thinks of me- I think it's sweet.
Kian...I always get reminded of him by this really specific type of cologne- I don't know what shit he puts on but it smells a certain way. I certainly don't love it, but it's a him thing, so it's okay. What else- flowers, flowers and rock music! Which I think it a given, but also I see a guitar and I think of when he tried to teach us how to play. (I'm not good with stringed instrument, I learned.)
Rolan- there's a lot I think. The smell of old books and rainy days. Bugs. When we were younger we were outside a lot, he was so...weird. Just snatching fireflies from the air like it was nothing. He's not like that anymore- but it's not in a bad way. I stayed with him in Chicago for a bit after I dropped out, so he also reminds me of the bustling noise in the city. And dropping out- but I liked staying with him, so it's not all bad.
I already said I remind Rand of cars- and Bon Jovi. I fucking LOVE their music dude- and Queen? Ugh, good shit. I remind all of them of music, but I think that's because I was always blasting music when they came over during highschool. Music is definitely more Kian's thing though, I just like what I like.
I know for Kian it's the smell of paint, I used to paint a lot when he was over- when any of them were over really- but it was nice when it was Kian because he always played his own music. It was relaxing.
Rolan always said I reminded him of baseball- he always came to my games though, so that's definitely a reason why. (And ramen, but it's not my fault I never learned how to cook. I told my dad I was a boy and he was exceptionally cool with it- but also he thought getting me in sports and hunting was more important than...cooking.)

🔁 ronance please and thank you 😌
anything for you my louseph friend <3
FINALLY a song that is not sad!!!
relistening to this one and am reminded how fun and chaotic it is and was, once again, metaphorically hit over the head with an idea:
Ronance workplace rivals to friends to lovers AU! if i'm remembering correctly i used this song on a playlist many moons ago for a rivals to friends to lovers au i wrote (and have since orphaned oops)
Set in the political sphere, both working as staffers for the same US Congresswoman, a prolific, controversial member of the House of Representatives. An office known for being nearly impossible to infiltrate.
Nancy, cut-throat workaholic. Constantly burning the candle at both ends, her desk should be considered her first home rather than her actual home. She worked her ass off.
Starting in high school, piloting the high school Democratic club for her high school and then rocketing it up to the most productive high school chapter in the region, regardless of none of the members could vote. Taking undergrad by the balls and squeezing as hard as she possibly could. Scoring internships the summer after her Freshman year and bypassing incoming Seniors that by the time SHE was a Senior she had a better resume than most seasoned political staffers. Three internships on The Hill, two years of being president of her colleges Dem club chapter, staffed over a dozen political campaigns for various Dems across the political spectrum. All while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and writing guest articles for the University's school paper. Nancy Wheeler made name for herself, stepping into her glory as one of the youngest staffers in DC at just 22 years old. Younger than some interns. But carrying herself with the confidence of someone with decades of experience under the belt.
Robin, on the other hand, kinda fell into politics. It was the summer right before her Senior year of high school. An election year. She never paid much attention to politics before this, her parents were hippies, they were obviously liberal. Naturally smart, never having to try that hard to keep her GPA high, but also knowing that they didn't have enough money to send her to college, but made too much money to qualify for a lot of assistance, and she never excelled so well that she earned a full-ride anywhere, community college was the only reasonable option for her. One day, she's packing up her trumpet at the end of band practice, one of the few stragglers in the gym, when people in suits start setting up the gym. In walks the Democratic candidate for her district. Curious, especially when she noticed the line forming outside to hear her speak, she decided to hang around and see what the big deal was.
She was captivated. Big promises fighting for people like her, really like her. Multiple references to her partner, another woman, Robin felt this itch in the back of her skull, spread to the rest of her body. Something more than curiosity, something that motivates her to wait even longer and approach this candidate, arguing with staffers and whoever she needs to, just to get a word in with the candidate.
She ends up fighting with half of her staff, making some sort of impression on the future Congresswoman, who makes time to talk to her. Robin leaves that night with a new passion, and a new (unpaid) position working on the campaign.
Once the election was won, Robin spent most of her time in community college working for the Congresswoman in her district office. Taking night classes and getting involved in the community college's Dem club, but her first priority was to this office.
Politics was a natural arena for Robin. A schmooze by nature, witty and personable, she made the job look easy. No one would know that she spends most of her time in her car, working two jobs to save money and trying to maintain a good GPA to get into the local State College. The Congresswoman made her promise to finish her degree, not get wrapped up in the career path that politics has to offer. And in exchange, she had a position waiting for her in the DC office as soon as she graduated.
Nancy and Robin start in the Congresswoman's office on the same day. Nancy see's Robin as competition. Robin see's Nancy as a stuck-up rich kid with no loyalty. They're at each other's throats. Nancy constantly trying to one up Robin, Robin easily charming the pants off of anyone in her path.
Robin taking work home with her, but Nancy thinking that she's a slacker. Nancy living at her desk, making Robin view her as a show-off.
It all comes to a head during the first campaign event of the election cycle. And it starts and ends at the open bar.
send me a 🔀 and a pairing, and i’ll shuffle my playlist and make an au based on the first song that comes up

hi! i'm suzi and i got tagged by @spaceace144 !!
last song: Sweet Bod by Lemon Demon! i was listening to the playlist i made for one of my dnd characters (shoutout to mel, the sorcerer ever) and sweet bod was actually the main inspiration for her as a character (she was mummified in honey for abt 100 years and then she came back to life)! but yeah i rlly like making and then listening to character playlists for my oc's (mostly ttrpg characters, but b'rsh bran the kitty ever gets to have 3 playlists)
currently reading: i am veeeeery slowly reading house of leaves, i rlly like it so far, its just that for me sitting down to read a book is kind of a commitment so i dont rlly read as often as i'd like to
currently watching: me and one of my housemates have been rewatching arcane, and before that she got me to watch the dragon prince! dragon prince was rlly fun and sweet, and i love cool fantasy stories :3
current obsession: i'm currently in 2 dnd campaigns with some friends (and i'm preparing to run my own!) and whenever i make oc's for anything i end up thinkin rlly hard abt them (shoutout to b'rsh bran the kitty ever, mel the flynn rider/jesus mashup the world wasn't ready for, and isadora who is just. so sad all the time.)
im also a HUGE fan of the magnus archives, i've been relistening to it at work recently and i managed to get several of my friends to start listening to it >:) i love it so much its such a cool setting and the characters are so neat and cool and i think abt it pretty much constantly
OH AND I REALLY LIKE SIGNALIS. PLEASE TALK TO ME ABOUT SIGNALIS. I AM SO NORMAL ABOUT SIGNALIS ITS THE GAME EVER I DONT EVEN USUALLY LIKE PLAYING SURVIVAL HORROR BUT THAT GAME DID SOMETHING TO MY BRAIN THAT I CANT EVEN COMPREHEND.
also of course i am always thinking abt ffxiv and b'rsh bran, the kitty ever :3 (i love her so much and shes so cool and silly and just. the kitty ever!) also my friends who play ffxiv all have rlly neat wols so i think abt their wols too :)

Got tagged by @princess-of-gondor - thank you so much for the tag!!! :D
last song — technically I just listened to There Is Still Time by Lorn, which is an excellent track, but this week I've been obsessively listening to a lot of music by Wojciech Golczewski, who is an excellent synth musician! I really love his album The Signal, in particular the track 13480000 Miles (which....APPARENTLY is like TWELVE TIMES LONGER on youtube than spotify!? I have just discovered this literally right now??? Hello??? Oh my days??). Also been really enjoying relistening to the album Caught in the Strange by Racing Glaciers, which is one of my favourites.
favourite colour — colour is a matter of context and they're all great.
currently watching — well I've been watching Day of the Triffids (2009) courtesy of @echo84 which has been great fun so far since I very much enjoyed the book! It's very interesting seeing all the differences. I've also been catching bits of reruns of Primeval on tv at the moment, which is great because they just got onto season 2 which is so excellent.
spicy/savoury/sweet — I tend to prefer savoury a lot, but I do like sweet too. Spicy is a big no no, though, I am unfortunately very weak rip me
relationship status — ace/aro and thus not interested
current obsessions — really into this rp campaign I'm currently playing, but other than that it's just Doctor Who ticking along as usual!
Tagging some wonderful folks, but of course feel free to ignore!
@archervale | @taardisblue | @echo84 | @kasterborous-constellation | @wheresthewater | and anyone else who wants to do it!

Last First Monday of the Week Year 2023-01-02
it's that time again
Listening: Bought an Apple USB-C DAC so relistening to songs I know well for reference. One being Bad Religion's Let Them Eat War.
youtube
Bad Religion's bit gets me every time. Yeah he's. A PhD evolutionary biologist who does the militant atheist meme irl. Perfect band no notes.
Reading: In search of an entirety different blog post I did not find, The Alexandrian's GM Don't List. It's a good list, not really groundbreaking advice but good things to rein in some bad habits you may have developed at other people's tables and sensible reasons why you should avoid them.
https://thealexandrian.net/wordpress/37571/roleplaying-games/gm-dont-list-1-morphing-reality
A lot of these are just urgings to be consistent and predictable but that's so important at a table, nothing is worse for players than having a plan go awry even though the rules say it should work.
Watching: Knives Out: Glass Onion, which was great. It's really cool that it is actually basically the same overall setup in the abstract as Knives Out: Donut Hole but still a totally novel and interesting story.
Playing: Started and finished the Titanfall 2 Campaign over the new year. I like first person shooters in theory but many, many of them do not do it for me, I still haven't finished Spec Ops: The Line. Titanfall is fast paced and has the right level of "You're in a bad situation, what do you do, now quickly think!" that I like from first person shooters in particular and more generally from video games.
Frantic snap decisions are usually a terrible idea in real life but they're a lot of fun, and you feel good when they work out. Ping-ponging off walls and firing shots off only to land in the middle of a cluster of enemies, dropping a grenade and activating your invisibility power to escape is great. Movement is super good, albeit a little unpredictable as to when you're going to stick to a wall rather than swing past it to your death.
Making: I have done nothing but sew quilt patches for three days. Cut what will hopefully be the last batch of patches from the roll, it looks like I'm probably going to contribute about ⅓ of this quilt with my mother making up the other ⅔.
Tools and Equipment: The templates for cutting and marking seams on the quilt patches were originally printed, and they're worn down to the point of uselessness. Rather than running around to a printshop, I made the new ones by just drawing it by hand, so here's to a robust set of geometric tools. With a couple set squares, a protractor, a compass, and a good ruler you can do an awful lot of constructions very accurately. In particular constructing parallel lines with two set squares came in handy here for drawing the rhombuses.

Last Movie: Labyrinth (1986). One of The Most movies of all time highly recommend <3
Currently Reading: Crossings by Alex Landragin! It's this very interesting book that's made up of three stories which you can read individually or jump between chapters in a certain order to create a new narrative - I'm doing the jumping back and forth reading, so I'm having a great time but I have literally no clue how far into the book I am kdjhgskjh
Currently Watching: The Last of Us!
Currently Consuming: this will probably come as a shock to everyone but critical role campaign 2 is eating me alive rn I just finished ep 49 and am unlocking new emotions on a daily basis <33 It's still gonna take me like 9-12 business months but the second I can unfilter the tags I'm going to become UNTHINKABLY obnoxious about it :) Also I'm 23 eps into a magnus archives relisten which means it’s Martin time!!!

Last song: DNA. by Kendrick Lamar
Currently watching: I've been watching What We Do in the Shadows lately, and recently I also saw Bird Box Barcelona, which I really enjoyed, and Wonder, which was very good :3 Both movies surprised me with how heavy the religious themes were, and despite being very different movies, religion served a similar (destructive) role in both of them. I think it only struck me because I watched one right after the other lol
Currently reading: I'm not actively reading it atm, but I've yet to finish Unmasking Autism by Dr. Devon Price. Lately I've just been relistening to The Magnus Archives though, lol, does that count?
Current obsession: Red Dead Redemption babbeeeyyyyy the brainrot is REAL!!!! Love me some gay cowboys lmao. Beyond that, I'm always on that D&D grind with my campaign and whatnot lolol. Beyond that it's local election season in Norway, and all elections are v much a Thing in my household, so that's smth On My Mind too! (I love elections, I love politics, I love democracy, hello lol)

Do you know any podcasts with genderfluid characters that aren't from The Penumbra Podcast?
From memory, I've got three.
Hello From The Hallowoods has Olivier Song, a main character and young weather witch with a lot to prove, who uses he, she, or they day-to-day. Hello From The Hallowoods is a queer supernatural/horror podcast which follows people, to varying degrees of human and alive, through the strange expanse of the northern forests of the Hallowoods. What seem like seperate stories to begin with quickly cross paths and create a fascinating and lively universe. Top-notch writing and clever worldbuilding that gives it high relisten value. One of my favourites (character and podcast). Podcast is ongoing.
Elixir has J.J., a major character and underground club owner who uses he or she depending, and changes his look up to match. Elixir is a wlw romance set during a fantasy take on the american prohibition, where instead of alcohol, it's magic elixirs. The leads are, in classic romance fashion, the daughter of a brewer who's taken up the business, and the daugher of the people leading the local prohibition movement, looking for her missing sister. Podcast is complete.
Campaign: Skyjacks has Gable, a lead character and 7ft tall sky pirate/fallen angel who primarily uses they/them, but is Mr. Gable or Ms. Gable depending on if they're presenting masc or femme (with auxillary he or she to match). Campaign: Skyjacks is a tabletop podcast set in the original world of Spéir, which boasts incredible worldbuilding, original music, giant birds, sky posties and pirates, and a fun vibe. There's a star wars campaign in the feed, that's Campaign: Mynock, to find Skyjacks just scroll down until you see the art with the ship. Podcast is ongoing.

Tagged: Get to Know Me
Tagged by my dear @nightingaletrash! Thank you!!
Favourite colour: It varies but purple wins more often than not
Currently reading: I’m between audiobooks but just finished The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny
Last song: Wild Blue Yonder by The Amazing Devil
Last series: Critical Role, as per usual. Keeping up with Campaign 3 and slowly but surely working my way through a Campaign 2 relisten
Last movie: Watched Encanto again yesterday, definitely sobbed a lot as usual
Sweet/savory/spicy: Savory most consistently I think, though I like all of them pretty well
Currently working on: Modding the shit out of Oblivion. Also my D&D character is trying to see if she can invent a spell to heal those that healing spells typically don’t affect, which basically consists of me trying to scientifically analyze magic until my DM gets tired of it and tells me it works
Tagging: @haledamage, @scrawledscript, @queen-scribbles, @risualto, and anyone else who feels so compelled! No pressure of course :)

The Line Is Erased: Day 29 - Liaisons
Hello there! This is the first time I write a RQG fic and it’s going to be…rusty (NO IT’S NOT A PUN). Since I don’t want to be depressing AF and I FUCKING KNOW MYSELF, I am going to choose to write from outsider’s PoV, with a teeny tiny group of characters that just happen to be around on the background.
Also, after writing the first one I realised how much this podcast motivates me to keep saying “yes” to my friends’ campaigns and that is always a good choice for many reasons, so this is homage to all of us, people playing as our always very particular characters and suffering because of dices and masters!
So…that is that.
Here is my contribution for Day 29: Japan + Inventions, creations and crossing the line; prompts given by @the-line-is-erased on Tumblr.
Episode that covers at least one of the prompts relistened to do this: Ep.159 (actually; I just took a couple of details, so this chapter is kind of EASTER EGGS PARTY) Also, just some silly stuff after the overdramatic top of yesterday.
Do forgive me for any possible screw-ups (as well as for my quick tipper, non-native speaker writer).
Allons-y!
You got it, pal. Stealing is one of your things; you will have to like, literally have a superdetective or something watching you.
The sound of a dice filled for a second Saulis’ mind; followed by his own voice on an extremely frustrated tone.
“NAT ONE?! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!”
It wasn’t a superdetectivewhat cost Saulis’ to get free food for everyone from the Flying Noodle Monster (poorly translated into English by Tara), but pure hubris.
He was so certain he couldn’t be caught he didn’t considered for a second that, the gnome apparently sleeping with tainted glasses right behind him might, indeed, be only apparently sleeping and detect him almost immediately.
“Well…shit.”
-----------------
The owners weren’t happy. Actually, they were so unhappy they made the totally of the party go behind their business to decide what to do with those scoundrels (that was, at least, Tara’s translation).
“We will work for you!” Nym suggested, while the rest made a face that left clear their opinion about said accord.
“We don’t need you, nor have the space for it. Unless you have something of extreme value for us…”
Saulis got a brilliant idea.
“Agnes! Your cake preserver!” sometimes, his companion was still childish (things a lack of proper childhood can do to people, WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN?!), thing that had resulted in her inventing a special device where you can accumulate as many cakes as you want…and they stayed fresh as newly backed.
“But…but…it’s for cakes, not noodles!”
“You sure?”
“Well…I mean…It is technically for all short of foods, but that wasn’t my vision.”
“So, yes?”
She shrugged, sad.
“I guess.”
He turned to the Flying Noodle Monster’s owners.
“So…we have an exclusive invention that will preserve ALL THE FOOD you haven’t sold in perfect state for the following day. Do we have a deal or shall I go on more detail?”
For an instant, the couple froze in place and a dice was heard again.
“DIRTY TWENTY, WE ARE BACK!”
-----------------
By the time they arrived at the door of a hotel to pass the night until their contact appeared the next morning (Nym still complaining about it being, as she had called them, Aphrodite fanperson), Saulis’ touchwas back at its prime, having enough money to rent the suite for the night (it was out of necessity, for the only place they could have stayed other way was what can only be called a well of filth and desperation where, apparently, the Amelia Earhart could be found).
As they entered the room, the groans of the whole middle/small-sized party could be heard from the other side of Hiroshima.
Why was everything so BIG?!
-----------------------
Extra notes for flavour: yesterday I had campaign with “OG” Saulis! And…we have kind of…er…enslaved a goblin and I forced my group to name it Grizzop (be all very proud of me pls).
The title of the story is from the song “Liaisons” from A Little Night Music; I’m sorry for repeating composer AGAIN…but…IT STILL HURTS SO VERY MUCH. I promise, tomorrow I’ll change.
As usual, likes/kudos (depending if you are reading this on Tumblr or AO3), feedback and random comments ARE SO HIGHLY APPRECIATED.
-----------------
Also, thanks to the TMA discord channel that posted this prompts! You are lovely, gracias!
Now live on AO3!
Long life and prosperity,
Marla

burnt umber, sepia
burnt umber; what’s something you plan to do before the day is over to take care of yourself?
I've been told I should really take a shower, so, I think I'll do that right after watching this Amphibia season finale (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
sepia; name five things that always make you happy.
1. Certain songs on the Trolls soundtrack.
2. This D&D campaign me and a small group of online friends have started doing together.
3. Said friends.
4. Watching Trolls. (does that count as a repeat? nah, i don't think so, relistening to one or two songs from it and watching the whole movie are two different things.)
5. Writing stories or song parodies, doing arts and crafts, and otherwise creating stuff.
