However, the clouds obscured any accurate time telling, it had been dark for quite a while by now. "What are you doing out here in the pitch-dark, anyway?" He could see her just fine, only comforted by the fact she was still far enough away that he could leave with ease if he needed to retreat. "This isn't a good place for you. It's not safe here."

Riley's life has been changed since her first big role in the movie. Too small for the Hollywood's first line but extremely important for a beginner in the industry. She did it and she was so happy! People began to recognize her, meet her on the street and ask her for photos and autographs. This was the dream come true!

But she didn't want to stop on one role. Riley Page has her long way to the top and now she was just on the first stage of her new life. That's why her friend-manager suggested her to try herself in different ways. One of them was a casting for a music video for a band called Metallica. Who were they even? Some dirty guys playing noisy music? Riley was sceptical about it but her manager assured her that they were one of the hottests things in America, and that this collaboration will help them both.

Whilst her team did all the paper work, Riley was preparing for her take. Just some acting warm-up and she'll be the best. But once she entered the room she was flabbergasted. There was a ton of pretty chicks of different nations, races and even body types! Riley gulped, sitting near one of the girls in the line. "Are they all here for the casting?", she asked quietly but got only a sarcasmic chuckle. "First time here? Never thought that someone doesn't know how the "casting" goes for the metal bands", the girl said with a smirk, making Riley feeling anxious. Was there something she didn't know?

"You ought to see the other guy, Lt," Soap said with an unrepentant grin, unmarred by the fact his left eye was nearly swollen shut and he had a prominent cut on his lower lip.

Ghost sighed slightly behind his skull balaclava. "Sure I'll recognize him by all the bruises on his knuckles," he said dryly.

Kaidan squinted, several Commander Shepards swimming in front of him in the dim bar lighting, all wearing fondly amused expressions.

"You are flirting with me!" he stated as if having uncovered a core secret of the universe.

Shepard's smile broadened. "Think it's time to take you home and tuck you into bed."

"I'm going home with Cmdr. Shepard," he proclaimed loudly to the crowd around them. Several people raised a glass in good-natured salutes.

"Yeah, they know." Shepard got an arm around him, sliding him off the bar stool and onto his feet. "Most of them were at our wedding, after all."

"YOU SAID TO BE HONEST, STOP HITTING ME!"

John heard Kai's shout from the hallway outside of the Spartan quarters and shoved the door open to see—

He blinked. For a solid moment, he wasn't quite sure what he was seeing, actually. Kai vaulted over her own bed, being pursued hotly by Vannak.

"That wasn't honest," he said grimly. "You're just being mean."

"Look, it's not my fault that that penguin documentary was kinda lame and—"

"IT WAS NOT!" Vannak bellowed back and took a swing at her that would've definitely put a marine in the infirmary for a month, if not in the ground, permanently. For Kai, it would've at the very least mussed her hair. "Those penguins are adorable and—"

"Lame. Laaaaaame," she singsonged, ducking a flurry of punches, then doing a very impressive parkour run up the wall into a backflip that sent her soaring over the enraged Spartan's head.

"THEY'RE NOT LAME, YOU TAKE THAT BACK!"

John looked over at Riz, who was calmly sitting at a nearby table, reading something on her padd. She met his gaze, shrugged, and then went back to reading.

They crisscrossed the room rapidly, with Vannak coming close to getting his hands on her but, ultimately, Kai would manage to slip away at the last second. The entire time, she continued to issue penguin insults that, for some reason, the other Spartan took extremely personally.

John opened his mouth, about to say… something. Then he gave a slight shake of his head.

"I have paperwork to do," he announced to no one. "Don't I, Cortana?"

"I can find you some, Chief."

"That would be great," he said and just turned around and walked away.

heat, pain, and the soulless eyes of an oea agent. those were the last things she remembered. the heat, that was the most vivid sensation she remembered. it came from... the fog of hiding so much, she didn't know why she felt the heat only that it was burning her from the very inside out. then the pain, she could see through the fog of her thoughts the cause of the pain and it was the cause of whoever those eyes belonged to.

she tried to get up, to move, to call out, but she felt trapped in her body and with her mind still covered in a fog, she couldn't understand why. it wasn't until she began to regain her hearing that a new memory flashed and broke free of the fog. screaming, the loudest screams she's ever heard in her life and then she realized it had been coming from her. the pain was so bad, and the agent would not stop, she didn't even realize she was screaming.

then it all went quiet, and the pain stopped. all of the pain, everything all at once just stopped and a peace like she's never felt before flooded over her and then it was black and she was gone.

that was until this moment.

she felt dazed and her confusion on what happened and what was happening was taking over as the fog disappeared. then all at once, she felt herself jerk back into her body and her eyes fluttered open. billie. she had been with billie searching rooms for a way out, but then they were caught....

'fuck.' those were her first thoughts as she moved sit up and take in the chaos around her. her throat was dry, and she felt weak but she would worry about that later, all she could think about right now was finding her family, briggs, and ryker. riley didn't know what she would tell them, hell, she had no idea what was even going on or what happened but she could gather from the scenes around her that every worst case scenario that they had thought of, happened.

then it hit her as fast as the pain had, she hadn't been just injured and knocked out. she had died. whatever the agent had done to her, killed her. this was her transition.

Humming to herself Riley swayed her head back and forth as she lifted up the lantern she was asked to hang up. She didn't mind, she loved helping out and would always say yes to about anyone. Climbing up the later she made the small mistake of having it a little too far away. Reaching out she got it hung but at the price of the latter and herself falling which made her close her eyes waiting for inpact on the ground.

it's 1 am but i did as i vowed and steamrolled through the story for the indigo disk. the elite four gave me quite a bit of trouble tbh but that's mainly because i didn't have good tpye match-ups so the challenge was very refreshing! all in all i think the dlc overall, teal mask included was very nice and i really love all the characters it introduced :3

also drayton dragging kieran every chance he gets was so fucking funny, i love him. best character in the dlc by FAR.
