American Motors AMX/3, 1970, by Italdesign. The AMX/2 was well received despite lacking an engine so AMC followed it with a fully operational mid-engined prototype powered by American Motor's 6.4 litre V8. Giotto Bizzarrini was involved in the car's development, the suspension and mid-engine chassis. What was not acknowledged at the time was that the styling was by Italdesign. The plan had been for the car to be made by German coachbuilder's Karmann and exported to the US to compete with the De Tomaso Pantera. However soon after the AMX/3 was presented the program was cancelled.

AMC AMX/3
Designed in the U.S., built in Italy, and refined in Germany by some of the biggest names in the automotive industry, the AMX/3 was one of the most fascinating mid-engine sports cars of its time. Unfortunately it failed to make it into production. Located mid-ship was a 390 cubic-inch AMC V8 capable of producing 340 horsepower - AMC AMX/3.

1969 AMC AMX/3
Starting with arguably the most unusual car on this list, the AMC AMX/3 was an American-designed, Italian-manufactured prototype. First unveiled at the 1970 Chicago Auto Show, this sleek muscular American supercar took blatant inspiration for the era’s exotic Italian automotive offerings. Despite being slated for a limited production run of 1,000 units, government safety regulations in the US would ultimately lead to the project’s abandonment after only five proto-specimens were produced (and some $2M dollars in R&D money was spent).

’68 had Victoria Vetri, better known as Angela Dorian, winning her ’68 AMC AMX, again in the bright Playmate Pink. This car was my break time during this article for this AMX has the best-documented history for the pink Playmate cars. With articles by Hemmings and a video that Jay Leno did for his Jay Leno’s Garage Youtube series. Since it’s been so well gone over I’m not gonna retell a story so over-saturated, but simply connect dots and mention that there may be 2 or 3 different AMC AMXs in the famous pink tone.
First off, the car in the Playboy issue isn’t her prize car, that car was rushed into painting for that one particular photo shoot, and most likely repainted and sold afterward. Her real present was given to her and not too long after the issue came out featuring her on the AMX. Cops and people noticed her and she was stopped quite a bit before she painted the car brown, which stopped the harassment. By the time Mark Melvin bought the car from a dealer in Venice, it had been painted gray and finally black, only identifiable by the color code “00” and the plaque on the dashboard recalling Victoria’s measurements at the time.
Next thing is a couple of stories I ran across while reading u. One is that a pink AMX was done for Angela when she visited the Playboy Club in St. Louis. Another story I find more interesting was another pink AMX, ordered by a Mississippi school teacher who paid the 200 extra bucks to order her 390 V8 AMX with the Go Package, to be painted pink. Whether this story has any ground is beyond me, but I think it amusing to picture a schoolteacher riding in her pink AMC into her school parking space every morning. So counting these stories true, out of 6,725 AMXs made, 2 or 3 are or were once pink.

Which Muscle Car Is the Best?
The best muscle car is determined by the individual and their tastes. If you want to go fast, you'll want something with a V6 or V8 engine. These engines provide strong acceleration as well as a rich soundtrack. While turbo-four engines are now available, they lack the presence of a muscle car. Muscle cars do not have nimble handling, but they do have excellent feedback and engagement, as well as real strength in straight line sprints.
The Dodge Challenger is a well-known muscle car. It was the first vehicle to be equipped with a turbocharger. It was also the first automobile with an all-metal body. Between 1963 and 1966, it sold over 25,000 units. It was the most popular muscle car in the world at the time. It was also one of the first cars with a manual transmission.
The Chevrolet SS is another muscle car. It arrived in the United States from Australia. Despite its limited popularity, it boasts a powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine with 415 horsepower. It is a dependable muscle car that can transport an entire family. It also has a manual transmission, which makes it ideal for families. Despite its stodgy appearance, the SS manages to pack a lot of power into a small package.
The best muscle cars are not inexpensive. The best muscle cars, in fact, cost more than a million dollars. The Dodge Charger, for example, starts at $32,500 and can reach $75,000 in price. It is, however, more expensive than the Chevy Camaro. A 3.6-liter V6 engine produces approximately 292 horsepower, and four V8 engine options are available. These modern muscle cars are fantastic on drag strips and road courses.
The Chevrolet Chevelle is one of the most popular muscle cars in American history. The LS6 engine in this car is one of the best in the world. It was a popular car in the 1960s and is still a popular choice among muscle car enthusiasts today.
The AMC AMX-3 is the most opulent and expensive muscle car ever produced. The American-designed car made its debut at the 1970 Chicago Auto Show and was intended to sell 1,000 units. Due to safety regulations and a lack of funding, the project was later canceled. There were only five prototypes built. As a result, finding these cars is extremely difficult.
Dodge Charger - The Charger is the class's second entry and another all-American powerhouse. It's more spacious than other muscle cars, with plenty of luxury features and power. The Hellcat Redeye has 797 horsepower, while the base model has a V6. The Dodge Charger is a popular car that has appeared in numerous Hollywood films. Its powerful engine and quick steering make it an excellent muscle car.
The Ford Mustang is one of the most well-known muscle cars. The Hemi engine produces 425 horsepower, making it one of the fastest road cars available. It also has a powerful body design. Only 1359 of these cars were produced, making it one of the rarest ever produced. It's also one of the most sought-after muscle cars. It's worth noting that the Mustang comes in two flavors: GT and GT500.
Plymouth - The Plymouth 'Cuda is another well-known muscle car. This vehicle was produced from 1964 to 1974 and is widely regarded as one of the best models in history. The car's 1970 revision resulted in the most appealing and popular body style. To give these cars incredible performance, the Hemi engine was combined with an upgraded suspension and powerful brakes. The Plymouth 'Cuda was also popular as a club racer in the United States and abroad.
