#Andrew and Neil kissing in the roof while Nicky is doing a video
Text
All the Foxes have to be so grateful for TikTok not being a thing at their youth because I know FOR A FACT Nicky would have broadcasted their life there.

it’s spring break during Neil’s second year at PSU and a hurricane has hit South Carolina.
the original Foxes had planned their second annual spring break vacation for a few days after spring break started, giving them a few days to catch up on work. the freshman Foxes had all left Fox Tower to go home for the two weeks they had off.
when the hurricane hit, the Foxes were forced to stay in Fox Tower for a few days until the rain stopped and the flooding went down. they had prepared in the weeks following the news report of the hurricane, getting microwaveable food, plastic and reusable water bottles, and first aid kits just in case.
they were the only ones left in the dorms, all of the baseball kids had gone home or gotten away from campus, so the Foxes were free to set hell in Fox Tower.
they collected all of their beanbags, pillows, and sweatshirts together and threw them to the bottom of the stairs going from the third floor to the second floor, and asked Robin if they could use her mattress to pad the walls. she agreed only if the Foxes sent her videos of whatever the fuck they were doing. she was not disappointed.
they used the cushions from the couch in Nicky, Aaron, and Matt’s dorm and use it as a sort of sled. they’d set it at the top of the stairs and one person would sit on the cushion and push themself so they start moving down the stairs, eventually gaining a lot of speed, and falling into the pile of pillows, or slamming against Robin’s mattress.
Matt was the fastest out of all of them, having them time him to see what the fastest time he could get was. Nicky fell before he made it to the pillows, leaving a nasty bruise on his knee, but he got up laughing. Dan and Renee went down together after the boys all went a few times. they both screamed, and Dan forgot to lean off before crashing into the mattress. Andrew, Allison, and Kevin sat out, but they controlled the music they would play through the speakers, eventually compiling a playlist of all of the songs that they liked the most.
at night they’d heat up trays of pizza rolls, and fries, and bowls of ramen, set it out in someone’s dorm (usually the girls’) and put on movie after movie until everyone fell asleep.
eventually, they moved all of the stuff from the bottom of the stairs to the hallways of the third floor. they made a giant fort out of all of their shared things, having mattresses set up in the hallway for them to sleep on. Aaron and Kevin slept in their own beds, and Andrew would have as well, but the look on Neil’s face when Dan suggested he make a fort to sleep in swayed Andrew’s decision the opposite way.
he and Neil set up a fort right by the stairs going up to the roof. they used their spare sheets to make a roof right above where the doorknob sat, fastening them to the wall with heavy amounts of painters tape so they didn’t rip the paint off the wall. they had two blankets as the door to their fort. you’d pull them apart to create an opening where you’d find the mattress from Neil’s bed, a small basket of their assorted medicines, and both of their phone chargers plugged into the outlet they had available.
“i’ve never made a fort,” Neil whispered to Andrew, the light of his flashlight illuminated the small area.
“i haven’t in a long time,” Andrew responded after a while. “in one of my first foster homes with two of my foster sisters,” he took a deep breath in. “i still think about them sometimes.”
“were they nice?” Neil asked.
“from what i remember they were.” Andrew leaned over and pressed a kiss to Neil’s forehead. “go to sleep. it’s getting late.”
Neil turned to look at Andrew. Andrew was already facing him, so he gave him a gentle kiss on the lips.“okay. night ‘Drew.”
after three days cooped up in Fox Tower, they were given the okay to leave by Wymack.
they probably could have left the day after the hurricane, but he was worried about them.

Influenced
“Okay, but I can take a video of this right?” Neil asked as he and Andrew sat in the waiting room of the oral surgeon’s office. Andrew was getting his wisdom teeth out and Neil was so curious to see what he’d be like under anesthesia.
“Absolutely, if you want to die slowly. No problem.” Neil rolled his eyes. “Don’t get too excited. My tolerance level for their mediocre pain medication is through the roof.”
That was probably true. Neil was only a little disappointed. He still made sure he had a full battery on his phone and thanked the universe that he now had a phone with video capabilities. Just in case.
The technician called Andrew to the back and he handed Neil his wallet and phone and keys on his way to follow her. Neil took them and settled back to wait.
He was searching for Exy stats and ignoring texts from Nicky when the nurse called for him about an hour later. He stood, shoving all of Andrew’s things into the pocket of his hoodie and followed her back. Andrew was laid back in the dental chair, face pale and mouth full of gauze.
“Hey,” he leaned down to whisper to Andrew, running fingers through his hair. “You alive in there?”
Andrew grunted in response and the nurse smiled at them fondly.
“He should be more awake in just a few minutes. He did really well. Only took a few minutes to get them all out.”
“Did you hear that Andrew? You laid here and played dead really well. I’m so proud.” Neil said to him.
Andrew mumbled something Neil couldn’t quite make out through the gauze.
“What?” Neil leaned in closer. Andrew reached up and pulled out a particularly bloody and drool covered piece of gauze before he spoke again.
“You’re an idiot.” He said, voice rough.
“Um, you need to leave the gauze in. You have open wounds in your mouth.” The nurse chided while she was typing something into a computer. “I’m going to go get the doctor to go over after care instructions with you. Don’t pull any more of the gauze out!”
Neil ignored her and turned back to Andrew.
“But I’m your idiot, right?” he asked, fingers back in Andrew’s hair. Andrew lifted a hand up somewhere in the vicinity of Neil’s face and Neil grabbed it and set it on his cheek.
“Mine.” Andrew whispered, cupping his face and trying to bring him in for a kiss.
Neil pulled back. “No way, Andrew. Not with your mouth full of blood and drool,” he said laughing.
“Mmmmm.” Andrew was looking at him fully now, but it was like he was trying really hard to figure out why Neil was there. “So pretty.”
“What?” Andrew dropped his hand and turned his head. “Andrew…what did you just say?” Neil was fumbling for his phone now. If he missed getting this on video he was going to be so pissed at himself.
Andrew looked back at him. “I said you’re so pretty. Your eyes are so pretty. I hate you so much. Do you know that? I hate how pretty you are.” Neil thought he might break a rib trying not to laugh, but he had his camera out so he was determined.
“I think you’re pretty, too.” He said through a shit eating grin.
“No. Not pretty like you. Your words are pretty. What did you say? ‘You gave me a key…’? I hate you so much.”
“I think you like me.”
“Yes.”
Neil almost whooped at the admission. And he got it on camera! He was going to keep this forever and play it whenever Andrew said he hated him.
“I like you, too.”
“Not like I like you. I like you like you.”
“I like you like you, too.”
“NO,” Andrew rubbed his face and moaned when he felt his swollen cheeks. “I like you and I hate you and you’re so pretty. You have such a nice ass.”
Neil coughed to try and hide the laugh. Also, the extreme pleasure curling in his stomach. He felt like a cat ready to preen.
“You think so? It’s all the running you know. Remember that next time you complain.” he told a very sleepy Andrew.
“Yes. It’s so nice. Because of running and stupid stickball. I hate you. I’m so glad you let me touch your ass.” This was naturally said as soon as the doctor walked in the room to go over Andrew’s after care. Neil hastily put his phone away, cheeks heating.
The doctor cleared his throat. “Ah, so here are the prescriptions for the pain medication and antibiotics…”
Neil listened to all his instructions while standing next to Andrew’s chair and trying to discreetly bat Andrew’s hand away from where it was trying to find it’s way to Neil’s ass.
“Thank you! We’ll call if we need anything!” Neil called as he hastily shoved Andrew into the car a few minutes later and buckled his seat belt for him.
“Ice cream,” Andrew moaned.
“Ice cream is too cold. It’ll hurt your mouth right now. I’ll get you some chocolate pudding or something.” Neil told him as he drove them back to Fox Tower.
“Nooooooo,” Andrew whined. “This is why I hate you.”
“No, it’s not,” Neil said. “You hate me because you like me so much.”
Andrew sighed and leaned his head against the window. “I really do.”
Neil reached over to tug on Andrew’s hair, and when he looked at him he was asleep on the window, drooling on himself.
Neil really liked him, too.
I did a part two for this here!
See the rest of my fics on AO3! :)

For @agapantoblu for @aftgexchange. I hope you enjoy!
Follow the cut.
--
Despite his success (should he call it success?) with taking care of his twins, Nicky had some hesitations about having kids. Luckily, Erik has the patience of a saint and has a counter for every argument Nicky throws at him.
“I’m too irresponsible for a kid.”
“Andrew and Aaron both graduated high school and college.”
“Yeah...but they didn’t need like baby stuff.”
“Like being fed, given attention and a roof over their head?”
“...”
“Besides, you wouldn’t be doing this alone.”
Nicky tries to make a joke, but it dies on his tongue. Instead, because this is Erik, he says, “I know how bad my parents screwed me up. I don’t want to do that to some poor kid.”
Erik takes him in his arms and presses a soft kiss to his cheek. “You are nothing like your parents, Nicky. I have no idea how they made someone as good as you.”
After that conversation, they still take no official steps to have a child, but the thought is planted. After years apart, they’re re-learning each other and Nicky is starting to feel like the hard part is over. Not to say things are perfect, but he feels good.
Which is probably why life sees fit to throw him a curveball in the form of a kid in the street outside of Erik’s office. He’s just finished meeting him for lunch when he sees a small skitter out of the corner of his eye.
“Hello?”
He hears footsteps and because Nicky has never left well enough alone in his life, he turns down the alley. He sees a kid leaning against the wall with a hoodie that hangs off his bony fame, hands shoved in his pockets. It’s almost Christmas and Nicky feels abruptly guilty for the big coat and gloves he’s wearing. He gets a flash of a memory of 13 year old Aaron at a family reunion, looking afraid and sullen, stealing food in napkins from the table.
“Hey kid,” he starts, “What are you doing out here?”
The kid’s gaze darts around him, looking for an exit and it reminds him of Neil so much his heart hurts. “I’m not going to hurt you,” Nicky continues.
The kid scoffs, but he’s still shaking, from the cold or nerves. “How do you know I won’t try to rob you?”
“You can try it if you want. But I have a feeling you don’t want to.”
The kids silence tells him all he needs to know and he smiles softly. “I’m Nicky.”
“Felix,” the kid says at last.
“It’s nice to meet you, Felix. How long have you been out here?” He used to have tact, but Andrew rubs off on you after a while.
Felix shrugs. “Few weeks.”
“It’s pretty cold...do you have somewhere to sleep?”
He shakes his head and Nicky can’t stop himself when he says, “I have a guest room open if you want it. I won’t even talk to you if you don’t want. I just would feel better if I knew you had a roof over your head.” The silence stretches between them and he adds, “Christmas spirit and all that.”
He starts to walk away, but feels more than hears a presence at his back. He gets home and leaves some food out before showing Felix the guest room. He gives him some space and immediately texts Erik, “Don’t be mad.”
The response is three question marks and he steps outside to call him. He explains and can practically see Erik rubbing his hand over his face, but then he sighs and says, “And this is really important to you?”
Nicky’s voice trembles as he says, “He’s all alone, Erik.”
The conversation is over after that and Felix mostly stays in the guest room for the night, only coming out to get more food. It doesn’t bother Nicky; he’s an expert at thankless jobs. In the morning, Felix is gone.
The next night, though, there’s a knock at the door as it’s getting dark and Felix is there, hands shoved in his pockets and an unspoken question on his face. Nicky opens the door wider and night, he stays all the way to breakfast.
This repeats for the next two weeks, until Felix is a regular at the dinner table and a fixture in their house. Nicky barely notices a change until his monthly Skype session with Andrew and Neil. Andrew, ever observant, says, “The door to the guest room’s open.”
“Oh, yeah, Felix must have left it open.” At their silence, he continues, “This kid who’s been staying here.”
Andrew leans back in his chair. “Can’t resist picking up strays?”
Nicky plays it off, but at the end of the call, Andrew says, “Well, you kept me and Aaron alive despite our best efforts, so you can’t be that bad of a dad.”
He crawls into bed with Erik after and says, “I want to adopt him.” Erik just nods and kisses his forehead. Nicky turns to face him. “Just like that?”
“I mean, it’s up to him in the end. But you’re gonna be a great dad.”
He buries his face in Erik’s chest and doesn’t try to hide his tears.
Erik talks to friends of his who do family law and they look into the paperwork quietly. It’s kind of a frenzy to get it done in time, but the bulk of it is done by Christmas and Nicky nervously collates it into a bundle wrapped up in a ribbon.
They’re gathered around the tree, their little makeshift family (Nicky’s never known another kind), and his hands shake as he gives Felix the wrapped bundle, an addition to his new winter coat, sweaters, and book about video games. He unwraps it and looks at it for a long moment.
Nicky can’t bear the silence, so he says, “We shouldn’t have sprung this on you, I’m sorry-” but he’s interrupted by Felix launching himself at Nicky to pull him into a hug.
“You want me to stay?”
Erik laughs and ruffles his hair. “Yeah, kid. Prepare for double the dad jokes.”
Felix beams and Nicky’s heart feels whole in a way it hasn’t in a long time.
