Seeing so many people I once respected and even adored/admired prove themselves mask off antisemites when given the chance and an "appropriate" enough reason is so incredibly heartbreaking. So many left leaning and supposedly empathetic people apparently do not hear themselves right now.

Izzy Hands was the abuser, actually. And Izzy Hands wasn't poor or working class (but Ed was). And Izzy Hands sold people out to the cops. And Izzy Hands was homophobic and femmephobic. And you would know all of that if you had watched the show, instead of listening to a bunch of izcels talk about a character they did not understand using traits, plots, and quotes that they literally stole from other, usually POC characters. But I see you're a zionist. So I'm not surprised you're a stupid piece of shit.
....Whose kid is this? Why are they in my backyard?
Anyway, yeah, let's get into it! Edward Teach historically owned and sold slaves and engaged in broad-scale corruption by bribing public officials (including early modern police forces). He also murdered hundreds of people, and was generally an all around Certified Bad Dude. In OFMD canon, from what I understand, he physically mutilated Izzy multiple times and psychologically and physically abused People of Color, on top of the regular list of Pirate Crimes. So your fav, just like everyone's favs, is also problematic.
But Izzy Hands is also...not my fav? I don't watch OFMD? I made a tiny text post because a lot of my mutuals were upset, and I wanted to comfort them because I know what it's like to dedicate a lot of time/effort to a show and feel let down. It wasn't that deep. As I said in my properly tagged post, I don't watch OFMD because I wasn't able to separate the historical figures of Stede Bonnet and Edward Teach from the characters in the show, who were both very bad people in real life. That was a personal choice, and I don't judge anyone who watches OFMD--not even you, Anon!
(I judge you for other reasons!)
(Also, I could make a point about how because you like the character of Edward Teach, you're a supporter of slavery and a racist piece of shit, but I'm not going to do that because I have media literacy and also I'm not going to try to derive someone's political beliefs based on which characters they like in a TV show and nothing else. Because doing that is stupid. And childish. And pathetic.
Sound like anyone we know?)
I could dig into your whole "Izcel" comment and how you are ascribing onto a majority queer audience a term that has caused that community tremendous harm, thereby undercutting whatever progressive values you are trying to promote by attacking fans of a character you personally don't like, but if you aren't brave enough to come off anon to send me hate, you aren't worth my time of educating you. I encourage you to read some actual queer theory, and not just watch the TikTok summaries. I am more than happy to send you a reading list if you DM me!
Finally, I want to address your final point. I guarantee I have done more work to ensure Palestinian sovereignty than you have. I donate regularly to Palestinian NGOs and peace projects in Israel and Palestine. I attend rallies and protests, uplift the voices of Palestinian activists, organize in my community, and support organizers in the region itself. I am, as the majority of American Jews are, extremely anti-Bibi. I'm in charge of the office pool for the Palestinian Red Crescent, and I helped register voters for municipal elections in Israel to promote shared cities and a greater public voice for Arab citizens of Israel. I am committed to the cause of Palestinian liberation and self-determination because I am committed to the cause of Jewish liberation and self-determination. All liberation is connected, and I have spent five years dedicating myself to promoting a shared vision of hope, peace, and safety in the Levant. You have no idea what kind of Zionist I am, or if I even identify with that word. All you saw was that I made posts decrying the violence of Hamas and the hateful response by the rest of the world. All you saw is that my handle has the word "Jew" in it.
I don't know what you wanted to accomplish by sending this ask, Anon. Did you want me to recant my previous post and send a big "Fuck You!" to my mutuals who liked Izzy Hands as a character? Not going to happen. Did you want me to watch OFMD and start liking Edward Teach? Also not going to happen. Did you want to make me look like "a stupid piece of shit"? I assure you, I'm not the one who looks stupid right now.
Did it make you feel big? Did it make you feel powerful? Did it give you catharsis to send hate to a Jewish person, knowing there is no way for you to be truly held accountable? Does the idea of me reading this message excite you? Are you giddy at the idea that you might upset me? That you might scare me? I've had groups of grown men follow me out of work threatening to rape and kill me because I'm Jewish. I promise you, Anon, you don't scare me. You make me laugh. Imagine caring so much about a mediocre TV show you just have to harass a Jew about it.
Fuck you, you cowardly and antisemitic prick. You, like everyone else who hides behind anon to send hate, are so fucking small.

So i get people who want watcher to speak out about the genocide that is happening right now, im sure you are all have good intention and im not going to change your mind on that. Its good if more people talk about it. But im not in the side of nonactivist speaking about something like this and i understand if they dont speak more about this. Theres a couple of reasons more than this, but this is the big reason.
1 ) this doesnt happen in their country, it happenned with Israel and Palestine, while yes American is definitely supporting the military of Israel, we need to understand this isnt like BLM and Stop Asian Hate, that they talk about before, this doesnt happen in their country.
2 ) Activism isnt just online, im pretty sure they are talking about what happenned in Gaza with their friends and im pretty sure they are definitely not in the side of genocide from the track records on how they support BLM and their support Stop Asian Hate.
3 ) as someone who is raised with an Islam religion, while genocide is not a complicated subject to talk about. What happenned with Israel and Palestine is. I have heard so much " do you condemn hamas thought ? " and i know alot of jewish people who are simply just living their life keep getting asked "Do you condem Bibi Netanyahu for his action on genocide? " Its so ridicilous the ammount of time people see this as the holy war between Jewish and Muslim instead of an actual humanity issues that is happening right now.
Now i understand how this could definitely make people angry, and you dont have to agree with me. This is simply a personal opinion, because i get it honestly i have been so harassed by alot of stranger recently ever since this genocide that i just stopped talking about it online and have a nuance conversation over people i can see in real life.
Sam Young have shared instagram stories about Palestine, and Tammy Cho, Steven wife, also share instagram story about the genocide and have been doing it for quiet sometimes ( i need to put this here, but this is definitely because Tammy Cho is an activist first and foremost ) and im sure they will not be friends or work with people who deny genocide. If you want to have quiet a relief.
Now on to the reason i speak here now,
To see Sara Rubin getting called a Zionist despite her not saying if she is or not, is absolutely antisemitistic and it pissed me the fuck off. For the bluesky post she made about "Just feel like we need to normalize not speaking about things you dont know about." Could genuinely be fucking about anything. ESPECIALLY, because she is jewish.
None of you will understand truly what its like being called zionist as a jewish person who never shared if she is a zionist or not, none of you will understand when a right-wing politician, that is antisemitistic from the beginning, that genuinely most of you keep retweeting about, suddenly use the word zionist on their post and suddenly alot of you all keep retweeting their postmbecause you didnt realize when they say zionist they mean jewish people. Like she literally could genuinely mean the antisemitism she faced and the ammount of misinformation that is filled with antisemitistic rhetoric. Its too vague of a post for you all to assume if she is a zionist or not from that.
Anyway my last note for this post, please in all genuine have kindness for the muslim people and jewish people who is struggling right now because of the genocide, the ammount of hate crime they have to face everyday. Please for the love of Allah, i want you all to do just a really quick check if you share information, you reblog from or retweet from, is it from someone who is antisemitistic or someone who is islamophobic? Just genuinely do a quick check, and if you already understands what considered dog whistles, it might be easy for you to figure out where the person stands. And despite alot of post of " zionism does not equal antisemitism " you are all making. There is ALOT of people who equals zionism as antisemitism. Just, listen to Muslim and Jewish people around you if you post something wrong. That is all. And btw i bet alot of you doesnt know what zionism actually is if you accuse sara rubin of being one, because the word "sara is making the watcher boys not say anything about the genocide" sound alot like jewish people control what people are saying, and isnt THAT an antisemitistic rhetoric. Be aware on how you word out your post, just becareful. And truly the last last word, you can support palestine without being antisemitistic, by focusing on how to actually help palestine, talking about what is happening in palestine helps alot but i do recommend this PCRF ( Palestine Childrens Relief Fund ) and Palestine Red Crescent Society helps and provides aids to Gaza people ( idk how to link them but hope you all do a quick search ).
Alright, sorry for the really long post but i hope i get my points across correctly, and i truly just want peace for Muslim and Jewish people.
yeah obviously i can't speak to what they're talking about in their personal lives. i don't think it's about pitting the whole of judaism against the whole of islam for the majority of people. it's about the genocide of palestinians on top of the myriad human rights violations and war crimes imposed on them by israel.
you can absolutely support palestine without being antisemitic and without blaming every jewish person. thank you for providing resources! i'll link them here: pcrf & prcs.

I think criticizing the Israeli government is fair game and doesn’t solely and automatically make someone antiemetic, just like how criticizing the Iranian or Saudi Arabian governments doesn’t make me Islamophobic. I realize that many who do so are antiemetic but I think it’s good to criticize governments in general.
Except here’s the thing.
On the surface, I agree with you. I think Bibi Netanyahu is an asshole, I think the current ultra-Orthodox trend in the Knesset is a threat to the safety of the future of Israel, and I think if they had more young people in charge a lot of the Palestinian mess would be over already, because does anybody really like living in a place where there are rockets flying in your backyard? No. They do not. Younger generations who didn’t grow up with the specter of the Holocaust not just as part of their unchangeable history but as part of their own lives can, I think, take a deep breath and understand perspective a little better than people who were directly impacted by the horror and trauma of the Shoah. (Nor am I blaming the survivors for this. Their lives were destroyed and rebuilt and destroyed and rebuilt and destroyed and rebuilt, and that does things to you.)
WITH THAT SAID.
Most of the people who criticize Israel come from countries that are steeped in blood and colonization. So these same people, who have ZILCH to say about the US bombing the shit out of Syria or continuing to occupy Iraq, or about Japan’s continued denial of the existence of Korean “comfort girls,” or the drastic rise in antisemitism and Islamophobia in Poland and France, or the plight of First Nations people in Canada--suddenly when Israel comes into the picture they’re experts and omg, those filthy colonizers (even though we’re not actually colonizers) and those horrible Israelis!
It’s also worth noting that when people talk about the Israel/Palestine conflict, they tend to do so as “those horrible Israeli people vs those innocent Palestinian people.” Truth is, it’s an asshole government versus a terrorist government. The people? The people have little if anything to do with it. Government urging on both sides has caused horrible things to happen that shouldn’t have happened, but as a rule? The vast majority of Israelis have nothing to fucking do with what’s going on. For that matter, the Palestinians in the West Bank don’t really, either. Gaza, where Hamas has a giant foothold, is where a lot of the conflict occurs.
Moving on: a lot of criticism of Israel is just straight-up based on lies. Consider that UNESCO declared last year that Israel has no historical connection to the Temple Mount, that only Palestine does. THE TEMPLE MOUNT WHERE THE WESTERN WALL OF THE TWO-THOUSAND-YEAR-OLD TEMPLE IS STILL STANDING. WHERE WE HAVEN’T REBUILT ONLY BECAUSE THERE’S A MOSQUE STANDING WHERE THE TEMPLE SHOULD BE AND WE’RE NOT FUCKING ANIMALS. Pray tell, UNESCO--how can we simultaneously have built a major ancient holy site on the location, and also have no historical connection to the location? That’s like saying “well, the Egyptians built the pyramids, but they don’t really have any historical connection to them.”
Now here’s some facts: the Zionist movement--which takes its name from “Tziyon,” a name given to ancient Israel during the Babylonian exile--began in the 1800s. Significant migration to Mandatory Palestine began in the 1880s as a response to organized Jew-killings, pogroms, and forced expulsions (you can see an example of the last two dramatized in the musical Fiddler on the Roof). At that point, though, it was a trickle compared to what would happen later. There were even agreements with Palestine and the British government (which at that time was in control of Palestine) on how many Jewish immigrants could come per year! The idea was that we could come back and live peacefully in the land that was promised to us in the Torah, which we had held in whole or in part for close to a thousand years.
All that ended when the Holocaust happened.
In 1933, 1.7% of Europe’s population was Jewish.
In 2003, 0.2% of Europe’s population was Jewish.
We still had not reached the population threshold we were at before the Shoah. (As a matter of fact, we still haven’t. In 1939, there were 17 million Jews worldwide. Today there are around 15 million.)
Suddenly there were almost three million displaced Jews whose countries of residency didn’t want them back. They had nowhere to go. The United States would literally refuse to let ships dock if they were full of Jewish refugees. And so Britain, which has definitely never fucked up anything at all relating to immigration or native populations ever, went “We have an idea! Let’s dump them all in Mandatory Palestine! They’ve got a thing going on there anyway!”
Palestine wasn’t prepared for that kind of influx of people. Not enough room, not enough resources, not enough time.
So Britain, which definitely was not at all racist in 1948, went “eh, they’re just brown people” and started systematically killing Palestinians.
The problems in Palestine did not start with Jews, or even with our desire to return to our land. They began with Britain and antisemitism and beyond-shitty handling of the postwar landscape.
Today, only two countries have Jewish populations exceeding one million people: the United States, and Israel. Their Jewish communities comprise 83% of Jews worldwide.
The smallest known population is in Afghanistan. There is one Jew left there.
To lie about Israel is to make liars of the largest Jewish population in the world.
Finally: if you don’t know your basic facts, just. Just don’t. Don’t fucking get involved. And for G-d’s sake stop singling out Israel for special, hateful treatment when so many countries have innocent blood on their hands.
