The South African government has expressed concerns that Israel’s continued occupation of “significant portions of the West Bank” and the development of new settlements there “are glaring examples of violations of international law” as the longrunning Israel-Palestine conflict goes on.
Share. Reblog. Protest. Boycott.
A lot of people forget that boycott and sanctions helped rid South Africa of apartheid.

Palestinian-Canadian Ahmed Kouta still hasn't been retrieved from Ghazzah by the Canadian authorities. He is still being subjected to collective punishment, to genocide, and to psychological torture such as this. As of February 5th 2024.
Tumblr media
Mélanie Joly, Justin Trudeau, and all other ministers responsible for this, you are fucking ghouls. If they weren't Palestinian, they wouldn't been retrieved by now. Its been since fucking NOVEMBER that the government said they would do something about this. No. Palestinians have to spend 122 days under genocide. We are 2 months into the following year. Nothing has changed.
Fuck Canada. Fuck the U.S. Fuck the occupation. We will never forgive these evil entities for what they've done.

Last June, Israel expelled the Palestinian Sub Laban family from their home in Jerusalem's Old City. The family had fought settler attempts to take their home for about 45 years.
A court order said the family, who have lived in their home for 70 years, should be removed so settlers could take over.
Just after dawn on June 11th, dozens of Israeli police and paramilitary officers raided the Ghaith-Sub Laban family in occupied East Jerusalem and forced them out before settlers moved in.
Ahmad Sub Laban carried a small tree out of his home. He told local media that the tree is as old as his 17-year-old son and that it was the one thing the family asked to take with them as a memento of the house.

I found this series of videos interviewing regular Palestinians, originally made for people learning Arabic. I would really recommend it for anyone who cares about Palestine! The videos aren’t directly about the occupation, and are more light-hearted videos about daily life, but I think they are worth watching. The interviewer is also Bisan, a Palestinian journalist who is currently helping document what’s happening in Gaza.

#Seeing the dune part 2 american centric red carpet and as a devoted aficionado of the books and yk a moroccan person here are my 2 cents#Dune was one of the few Western works inspired by MENA culture that that felt genuine and respectful#But ofc despite the profound symbiosis with Middle Eastern and North African culture evident within the pages of the novels#the movie adaptation lack of substantive representation from these communities both in on-screen portrayals and within production roles was#very much disappointing in part 1 and i doubt there are any change now#While drawing inspiration from the Amazigh peoples of Algeria and Morocco#the film barely skims the surface of its MENA influences leaving substantial potential untapped#Herbert openly acknowledged the profound impact of Islam and MENA culture on his noveIs#from the metaphorical representation of Spice as oil#to the allegorical parallels drawn between the occupation of Arrakis and real-world MENA geopolitics#By marginalizing Arabs from the narrative fabric of Dune the essence of the story is being undermined particularly its anti-colonial core#the irony of this is kiIIing me because this was a direct resuIt of us impérialism on the middIe east#But the reality is that Dune is an American production tailored for an American audience so it makes sense for it to be what it is now#a big production running from its original essence#What adds to my disappointment is the fact that I liked Villeneuve's adaptation of Incendies and I had what you call foolish hope hfhg#Dune feIt Iike a squandered opportunity to authentically depict the cultural milieu that inspired it#Given the narrative's inherent anti-colonial themes#the omission of Arab and North African voices dilute its message if any of it is even left#without representation from Arabs and Amazigh people the cultural essence becomes another appropriated resource watered down to an aestheti#rather than serving as a critique of the destructive actions of colonialists seeking power and dominance#the narrative becomes susceptible to distortion and co-option by the very entities it was intended to condemn and hold accountable

Literally annoying as shit *someone makes a good point about how big events like award shows are used to distract from a violent attack* *random person on the internet * “oh so you’re saying I shouldn’t SLEEP now?! I’m not allowed to eat and take CARE of myself? How DARE you!” I am banging my head against a brick wall as we speak, I can’t.
Betting my MONEY on that person being American bc the relatability factor always has been & continues to be such a major issue here. Americans do literally think in terms of “I’m not Palestinian so why should I care” “I’m not Arab so this isn’t really my concern” “ok but do you expect me to just STOP MY LIFE???” and this entitlement ends up breeding actual disbelief for the idea that others could care about other people despite not suffering the same problems or hailing from the same backgrounds. Their recourse is either to shame you for it or get defensive for their own indifference. Its such a tired pattern
(Also worthy to add that it’s not just rooted in relatability and hyperindividualism and a lot of these people are in fact simply anti Arab racist lmao)

ISRAELI OCCUPATION ARMY BOMBS TARGETS OUTSIDE OF DAMASCUS IN LATEST ZIONIST ATTACKS AGAINST SYRIA
📹 Scenes of large explosions resulting from the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) air and missile strikes targeting the outskirts of the Syrian capital of Damascus overnight.
According to a report in the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), at least two civilians were wounded after Zionist aggression targeted a number of sites on the outskirts of Damascus.
“At approximately 21:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting a number of points in the vicinity of Damascus,” a military source is quoted as saying to reporters with SANA.
“The Israeli aggression resulted in the injury of two civilians and some material losses," the source added.

A police spokesman explained that "the soldier opened fire believing that the person was Palestinian", according to the Israeli daily 'The Times of Israel'.
If you needed any other proof of how little Israel considers the life of a Palestinian, here you go.

Following up from this stream of posts on 04/03/2024, the Palestinian protestors of the zionist occupation forces sponsorship event - which was successfully shut down by protests - managed to put out some videos of the verbal violence they were faced with.
TW: islamophobic language, threats of genocide and child-killing.
Zionists in Montreal are intentionally hitting people with their cars and feeling emboldened to beat on Palestinian girls and announcing their desire to wipe out all Palestinian children. Do not remain complacent, attitudes and behaviour like this cannot continue to fester and be bolstered by public institutions like Concordia University.
