Kate narrating a documentary about bee-keeping and honeymaking? Earthshot giving us a 6 episode documentary series about their winners narrated by Cate Blanchett or a 2-hour special about Cape Town and South Africa (and every Earthshot city) by David Attenborough or a local expert? A 30-minute travel program about Cornwall by the Duchy of Cornwall? 3-minute YouTube videos about their charities and patronages produced by the people who work there or who benefit from services posted ahead of their visits? William narrating a documentary about his homeless initiative in Cornwall? A summer exhibition in KP’s display hall of Kate’s dresses or a Kate-curated show of the Royal Collection or loans from her patronages?
Yes, yes, and yes!!!! William and Catherine really are the first gen of royals to belong wholly to the social media generation. They should use it’s global reach much more expansively and more expertly.
For Catherine: yes to beekeeping lol! Show the children - during small, limited vignettes - helping her. Further though, she has a degree in Art History. The BRF/RCT has a priceless art collection, most of it largely unseen/unknown by the greater public. Pair these two gems together in some (“fun yet informative”) documentaries…even a series. Same for the BRF photo collection. The BRF has been photographed by iconic photographers…Cecil Beaton, Richard Avedon (D/Dss of Windsor lol), Annie Leibowitz, Mario Testino (those stunning Diana photos). Sure, some of it’s been done before, but let the people see these treasures again in an updated modern media presentation - interspersed/“edited” :) with pertinent film footage and interviews - and hosted by Catherine.
And not just the BRF art/photography treasures, but ditto for their fashion (an entire series in itself!), jewelry/tiaras (what exactly IS inside the Royal Vault, anyway, hiding unseen?), castles/palaces/homes (let’s see inside Balmoral, Sandringham, Kensington, Adelaide Cottage (limited access), Frogmore House - but minus Frog Cott…we already know what Soho House design looks like, although Frog Cott cemetery might be informative…), priceless antique furniture, properties/gardens, horse stables and animals, even their vehicles (rare carriages, automobiles, boats, aircraft)! How about a documentary on the Royal Ballet, hosted by Catherine and Charlotte, w footage included of Granny Diana at the RB? Each of these categories could easily fill an episode, presented by C. The catch, of course, would be to present all of this “to the people” in a way that doesn’t scream “let y'all eat cake!” but rather “this is yours, be proud of its beauty and history, which also is yours” ala Jackie Kennedy at the White House.
And separately from the above “fine arts” themes, yes, let’s also see much more in-depth coverage - by William and Catherine - of their charities and the bts work/progress involved, especially as related to Early Years research and work!
For William: yes to a documentary tour and inside look at the Duchy of Cornwall (that is much larger than just Cornwall lol)! William could pilot the helicopter - filmed up-close-and-personal inside the cockpit - as he takes us on the tour, with on-the-ground coverage as well, of course. And YES to expanded coverage of Earthshot and the ongoing progress of its winners (and nominees). Show the people what innovations Earthshot is catalyzing. This also has the built in advantage of appealing to youth, diversity/CW, and cutting edge climate change concerns….ie, the future. BTW tie in Earthshot with the Duchy of Cornwall and show us how the Duchy is incorporating climate change initiatives…organic farming, wind power, sustainability, re-planting, etc.
All of this could be widely and easily disseminated to a large, young, global audience both on social media/KP youtube and via media networks (ITV, BBC, etc.). Get busy, William and Catherine! Make your impending future reign a glorious one, a British Renaissance! (From an American fan with British ancestry)
*********
My hope is for Kate to include the kids in one of her promo videos for her Christmas carol service. I’d love to see them decorating a tree together or baking holiday cookies while they’re still young and small(ish).

Apprenticeship Program Name: Radio Campbuzz Project Name: RJ for Rangdhonu and script writer for shows Program Date: Fall 2017 – Fall 2018 Program Description: I joined this program when Kashfia Ma’am was the advisor for the program. She assigned me to a RJ position for a weekly show called, “Rangdhonu”. And I had to write the script for the show as well. What I had to do was be a host for the show and the show is about pop culture and entertainment. So we had to talk about any new update on Hollywood and Bollywood. Program Justification: What the show provided was to let the students know about any pop culture and to let them enjoy some entertainment before going back to class. There were other shows but this show made me realize how fun it is to be a RJ. Due to this show, I was even awarded the best RJ in Radio Campbuzz of Spring 2018. Program Name: Rangdhonu. Program Time: Every Wednesday from 12 pm to 1 pm.

Zoe Saldana on the Hollywood Walk of Fame After smashing success as the alien warrior Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy films and more recently, Avengers: Infinity War, Zoe Saldana is on a path to eternal stardom, literally. She joins the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin and her co-actor Chris Pratt, by receiving her very own star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Zoe Saldana took to Instagram to express her gratitude, saying she is blessed and honored to be a part of the history of Hollywood. “May this open more doors for Latinx and all other under-represented community!” she further stated. Zoe Saldana has also appeared in James Cameron's 2009 film Avatar and the recent Star Trek trilogy. Being a constant presence in blockbuster sci-fi and fantasy films, Zoe Saldana is expected to become a top name in this specific genre quite soon. 2018 71st Cannes Film Festival From Tuesday May 8th til Saturday May 19th. Australian actress Cate Blanchett has been named as the President of the Jury. Asghar Farhadi's psychological thriller Everybody Knows, starring Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz and Ricardo Darín, opened the festival and competes in the Main Competition section The Han Solo spinoff Solo: A Star Wars Story touched down Tuesday at the Cannes Film Festival, bringing its cast and a full-sized Chewbacca to the French Riviera extravaganza. Director Ron Howard, wearing a hat that read “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away,” introduced his cast before the film’s international premiere at Cannes. Sonam Kapoor wows at the red carpet of Cannes Film Festival 2018. Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan once again stole the show as she walked the prestigious red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, this time in a stunning ultra-violet, blue and red gown that reflected the metamorphosis of a butterfly. History was made at this year's 71st  Cannes Film Festival on Saturday as 82 women, representing the limited number of women filmmakers selected over its more than seven-decade history, made a symbolic walk up the red carpet. The stars, filmmakers and other professionals ascended the steps of the Palais des Festivals at the Cannes Film Festival, protesting for the solidarity of the women in the industry who are struggling for a voice, equal pay, as well as a safer work place. The five female members of this year's Cannes jury-- Cate Blanchett, Kristen Stewart, Ava DuVernay, Lea Seydoux and Burundian singer Khadja Nin, along with Jane Fonda, Salma Hayek and Marion Cotillard were among the group of women.
Link 3 Mim Mantasha Superstar in the making Winning the country's biggest pageant is not an ordinary feat. Mim Mantasha has won not just a crown, but also the hearts of millions. Awaiting a new journey, the Lux Channel i Superstar 2018 winner shares her story with The Daily Star. A final year student of Fine Arts at Jahangirnagar University, Mim has always been a creative and curious soul. She was an avid follower of the contest for a long time. This year, she finally took the decision to compete. Taking part in the competition was certainly not a cakewalk. “We went through vigorous training sessions. We did yoga in the mornings,” explains Mim.  Before the task rounds, the contestants went through fifteen days of training for ramp walk, acting, dancing, and many other skills. The photo shoots, acting, and improvisation rounds were Mim's favourite tasks in the competition. “I was nervous but in a scene, I got to convince people through my acting that my child was lost. I enjoyed it,” Mim smiles, adding that the competition was an overall memorable experience. Although she is highly enthusiastic about working in the media, she wants to take more preparations before doing so. She is now Lux Bangladesh's brand ambassador and has also won the opportunity to work on television and feature film projects of Impress Telefilm. Before hitting the silver screen, Mim wants to explore the world of television. Being a painter at heart, Mim also wants to continue painting and have her own exhibition in the future. Further to this, she intends to work for children who need special care. “I am in a fortunate position and it is our duty to take care of those in need.” says Mim. With great intentions, we hope Mim Mantasha excels at every step of her future endevours.

Avengers Infinity War Review The plot itself is pretty simple. There are six stones that possess mystic powers and he/she who possesses all the stones is by default the most powerful being in the universe. Our Marvel superheroes must forget their own conflicts and join forces against Thanos to restore the fate of the universe and its inhabitants. Of course, watch the movie to know how things pan out. Avengers: Infinity War is the movie of movies, and let me tell you why. Most, if not all, the characters of the MCU are present in this film and bring their own flavour into the mix. Thor is mourning the loss of his home and hammer, Stark feels he needs to take a break from saving the world, Captain America is still out to bring justice the right way, and Hulk has no control over himself. I don't know what formula the Russo brothers have applied in their direction but I watched in awe how all the characters blended to deliver multiple storylines within a movie. Yes, I have also compared this movie to a mega three-hour episode of your daily soap opera. Avengers: Infinity War is the comprehensive Marvel movie; it is the beginning of an end. It lifts you, it hits you, and leaves you with a cliffhanger extraordinaire. See it to believe it and it'll still be unbelievable. By next weekend, Infinity War will top $1.78 billion and could sit around $1.8 billion, ensuring Marvel's year-to-date tally exceeds $3.1 billion by next Sunday.
Deadpool 2 Marketing Right off the bat, you see how Deadpool has scratched out the 20th Century Fox logo and put “TBD,” which is a sly allusion to the ongoing Disney/Fox (and Comcast?) merger drama. The content of the letter is exactly what you might expect from the Merc with a Mouth. Pop culture references, silly puns, bad language, and Ryan Reynolds bashing. Then, at the bottom, instead of the #ThanosDemandsYourSilence, we get #WadeWilsonDemandsYourSisterSorryStupidAutoCorrectSilence. See, you guys, it’s funny! And not at all trying too hard. Kidding aside, the marketing for “Deadpool 2” has been pretty top notch, but perhaps not as great as the first film. Recently, the film premiered a music video for the soundtrack featuring Celine Dion singing an over-the-top ballad while a high-heel-wearing Deadpool does an interpretive dance around the diva. It’s ridiculous and fun. And also, the most recent trailer seems to have struck a chord with fans, who are coming down off their ‘Infinity War’ high.

I learned what to do or say after getting stuck during a live session. I have improved my speaking skills and the flow of a RJ host on how to talk and say because they have a different tone when it comes to a live session. I have taken all these skills from this program and I even got selected and did a short commercial video for Spice FM Radio. I also learned how to write a script for a radio show.

I was tagged by @apesoformythoughts! thank you!
Rules: Tag 21 people you’d like to know better! (If you don’t know 21 people  that’s fine too, just tag who you want)
Nickname: all the variations of Catherine (which is already not my first name) which my dad calls me: Katerina, Kat, Cate, etc
Zodiac: not only do I not buy into astrology, I'm starting to realize that signs are more complicated than I initially imagined and thus I actually have no idea what my sign even is.
Height: 4′10″ and a bit
Last movie I saw: The Little Mermaid, 2018. You all witnessed that beautiful disaster.
Last thing I googled: Peter Wimsey.
Favorite Musician: if we’re talking Enduring Favorite not just favorite of the moment, it’s either Sara Bareilles or Mumford and Sons.  If we’re talking favorite of the moment, it’s Taylor Swift.
Song Stuck In My Head: this utterly charming “Holy Ground”/“State of Grace” mashup
Other blogs: @alwaysalreadygift, the school/theology blog which I’ve done a terrible job updating the past two semesters.  @beautypoweranddeath, the now-defunct buffy the vampire slayer blog which I keep open so I can go through my old tags.  and @thevampirediariesdiary, the completely unreliable tvd rewatch blog!
Do I get asks: I didn’t used to?  but lately I’ve somehow convinced people that I am a Real Blog, which is fun!
Blogs following: 269. most of them are inactive buffy/tvd/teen wolf blogs, because I never seem to get into a fandom until it’s fully dead.
Amount of sleep: anywhere from 5 to 10 hours, depending on how life is going
Lucky number: I guess 7?
What I’m wearing: hand-me-down jeans which are too long for me, and an orange and gray plaid flannel
Dream job(s): tenured professor at a sane university, somewhere near family.  theology/philosophy consultant to Mike Schur, or for a mythical fourth season of Daredevil.  homeschooling mom.
Dream trip: I’ll happily travel anywhere!
Favorite food: hmmm I’m gonna say pasta all’amatriciana!
Play any instrument: nope!  four out of my seven siblings do play instruments, and of the other two who don’t, one is only ten and has plans to pick up an instrument soon, and the other has had starring roles in multiple local musicals.  I’m kind of the dud child, musically speaking.
Languages: English; rudimentary reading translation skills in Latin, Biblical Greek, and Spanish - whether those skills are enough for me to pass my exams, remains to be seen.  (French is also next for me!)
Favorite songs:  (organized into a mini-playlist here) “Poison and Wine”, “Broken Piano”, “Bright Lights and Cityscapes”, “After the Storm”, “The Run and Go”, “Breathe Me”, “Are We There Yet”, “I Hate Seagulls”
Random fact: I wanted to double major in theology and dance for undergrad, and was actually accepted to the dance program on a probationary basis, but I figured Going To School for the first time in my life would be hard enough without worrying about re-auditioning for my major halfway through the year, so I just started out as a theology major.
Describe yourself with aesthetics: mismatched bookshelves, studying at train stations, large mugs of tea, leather jackets over lace shirts, Degas’ little dancer, small sugary rainbow candy, iconography, traditional English hymns in four part harmony, all the ingredients for a big meal set out on the counter prepped for cooking, braiding other people’s hair, linking arms with friends while walking, vampires.

Smart Textiles for Military Market – Segments
For the convenience of the report and enhanced understanding; the smart textiles for military market is segmented in to two key dynamics:
Segmentation by End Use: Energy Harvest, Radar, Protection & Mobility, Healing, Sensing, and Thermal Luminescence.
Segmentation by Regions: Comprises Geographical regions –Americas, Europe, APAC and Middle East and Africa.
Smart Textiles for Military Market – Regional Analysis
Asia, mainly the emerging countries such as China and India have provided a major growth in the military segment in the APAC region. The growth of military expenditure in the APAC region is among the highest in the world. Along with the need to equip the military troops for modern warfare, there have been substantial expenditure for new military equipment and also enhanced military clothing.
Since, the manufacturing of traditional textiles has majorly shifted towards countries with cheap labor, the industrialized and development countries in the US and Europe geared up to capture new market opportunity in the field of high-end smart textile. Smart textiles had provided the advanced countries to utilize their skilled manpower, equipment, materials and processes to develop and maintain sustainable growth in the smart textile industry.
However, emerging countries in the APAC region such as China and India have also recently emerged as the major producer and consumer of technical textile. It provides these emerging countries with an attractive share of the growing smart textile market and not to lose the market on the technological front. Few of the other major markets for smart textiles in the APAC region are Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
On the other hand, the US, which is the leading market in the Americas, also has a substantially large defense market and military expenditure, which makes it a very attractive market for high-end military products such as the smart textiles for military applications.
Although the US has ended its combat operation in Afghanistan, a smaller number of troops remain. Furthermore, the US has deployed thousands of its troops in various other conflict regions. Also, the US government is funding for new programs to fight against the ISIS. The US will remain the largest spender on military products in the next decade. Military expenditure will also be driven by new initiatives of the US Army to strengthen and regroup its military base in Europe. Thus, despite the defense budget cuts, the need for protective clothing and military expenditure to equip the troops with enhanced high-tech products is expected to provide a growth in the market.
Canada is also expected to provide sufficient expenditure and funding for its military program (including clothing and textiles). It is thus expected that continued military spending along with growing research and development on military safety and protective products including the enhanced military clothing provides a healthy market growth for smart textiles in the Americas.

Brief 1: Forecasted Retail Trends & Predictions (#2)
According to Vend further trends are predicted to include the following:
1) “Chore” shopping will become easier, but the demand for “cherish” retail will be stronger than ever
Products will be easier to purchase than ever before with “chore” items (those same purchases you make) becoming less of a tedious task. Retailers like Amazon and subscription services for example are already offering auto-renewals, one-tap purchases and same-day delivery. People not only want quickness but still want to be able to walk into the physical store - they like and and demand new experiences that cannot be conveyed online.
“There is no doubt that Amazon will continue to disrupt distribution, in particular in the chore side of retail that not many of us like. Technology can predict our behaviour and preferences and automation can deliver our bread, toilet paper or a replacement phone charger just in time. Alexa can be your personal assistant simplifying the chore of retail. “Alexa, we need more dishwashing liquid, and something eco-friendly please”. I think this leads to a more delightful experience because it removes the chore. But there is also no doubt that retail is becoming more vibrant and diverse. More independent stores not fewer. More artisan products. More carefully curated sets of products for you to fall in love with and cherish. It has never been easier to run a retail store than before. And technology is driving this.” (Vaughan Rowsell, Founder at Vend).
2) Retailers that enable shoppers to build and customise products will prosper
A key retail trend in 2018 and in the years ahead, ‘personalisation’ is becoming a more popular experience choice. This does not just mean engraving someones initials onto a product or adding their name to an email, it’s how customers can build and customise their products to suit their own specific needs or requirements. Shoppers essentially strive to be unique and make ‘one-off’ purchases. By allowing them to get creative through personalisation, this will help make the overall shopping experience far more exciting and entertaining for the consumer.
3) Retailers will increasingly rely on robots
With technological advancements progressing, so are Robots amongst other forms of digital platforms such as AR and VR. In the near future it is thought that Robots will eventually talk directly to shoppers on the shop floor. We may also see ‘chatbots’, robots that can talk directly to you from your smart phone or tablet device. Companies such as Amazon are already investing in new forms of smart technology such as Robots with 20% of their fulfilment centres currently operating with them. Instant messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are becoming increasingly popular, used by large numbers of people. We could expect Retailers to expand their experiences into Apps and Social Media platforms i.e. by being able to message a robot asking for their shipment information or recording any problems they may have encountered with their order.
“Mobile commerce is on the rise and social media is likely to be a bigger part of that in the future. In addition, chatbots are offering another way of buying through social media platforms like Facebook Messenger. All sorts of brands from H&M to Pizza Hut are experimenting with shoppable chatbots. The advantage chatbots have over image-based social media shopping is that most don’t take the customer out of the messenger platform to complete the purchase. They also allow for back-and-forth conversation about a purchase, recommendations and further product information which can help with conversion.” (Cate Trotter, Head of Trends, Insider Trends)
4) Retailers that step up their social media strategies will thrive
Over the past year, social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook have worked to engage people on a more connected level. With the introduction of Instagram Stories, Facebook Live and Messenger Apps, Retailers have been given a new way to connect with their consumers online and engage/interact with them. Posting photos or feed updates will no longer satisfy the regular social media “savvy” users of the modern era (namely Generation Z). Birchbox for example is using Facebook Live to engage with their increasing following and fan base - sharing insightful videos to running competition giveaways. In a 40 minute stream they were able to connect and reach with almost 50,000 viewers. German fashion brand Born Originals also have made an effort to utilise this platform method engaging their followers through Instagram. By posting gorgeous photographs to their feed and making use of the story option the brand has been able to market themselves to a wider range of people around the world.
“Users are likely to watch Stories, so we make sure they find all important release, restock and sale info there first. We often include links to make it easy for people to shop there directly, and location filters to raise brand awareness in key cities." (Born Originals)
5) More than ever data (will and should) drive retail decisions
In the near future, if not sooner Retailers will be able to access, record, store and monitor consumer data. They will want to collect this to develop a greater understanding of their sales, marketing, customer service and operation departments/areas. The scope of digital technology has opened a door to this more specifically with retailers such as Walmart using facial recognition to identify unhappy or frustrated shoppers as they shop through the store. The data can then be used to notify members of staff to open new checkout lines. Gathering Data will enable retailers to gather a greater understanding of their customer, build a relationship with them, and be able to tailor an experience to themselves.
“Making data and analytics a competitive advantage for retailers and brands begins with an ecosystem of shared intelligence. Allowing an open system and partnering with enabling technology vendors who genuinely want to help grow the brand is the only winning strategy.
Solution providers like RetailNext provide cutting-edge technology measuring in-store shopping behavior, and when applying shopper data with customer data from a retailer’s loyalty program, the insights are significantly more relevant and actionable than viewing data in isolated silos. Furthermore, with open systems, digital business data can be layered over physical store data, allowing deeper analytics and insights of both shoppers and customers.
Moving into 2018, technological investments will center on shoppers’ mobile devices, today’s ‘first screen,’ and IoT technologies that further develop the smart store and deliver deeper analytics of in-store shopping behaviour." (Shelley E. Kohan, VP of Retail Consulting, RetailNext)
6) Augmented Reality technology will get even more sophisticated
Even though AR (Augmented Reality) technology has been around for a short while now it is expected to become far more sophisticated over the next coming years. It is believed retailers could try to adapt AR to connect consumers with the physical space through their mobile devices. IKEA for example are a brand currently working on exploring this, by utilising it into their stores. Customers can view a product and simply place it into an image of their house/room, therefore giving them an insight into how it could look if purchased.
7) Brick-and-Mortar stores will continue to flourish
The online shopping experience is steadily becoming a fading trend. The novelty could be seen to be wearing off a little as people seek bigger and greater experiences. We could be seen to be coming back to the Traditional store format/physical store (something that has been in steady decline due to the option of online shopping/retailing). Companies however, are looking to merge actuality with practicality using digital technology (i.e. App devices that can be used in store).
8) Healthy and Environment friendly lifestyles will be a focus for many consumers
Consumers are becoming more aware and mindful of their purchases. They choose products that have been sourced responsibly and are positive for their bodies and the environment.
9) QR codes will make a comeback
QR codes have been used for a number of years but did steadily seem to fade within the past decade. They have resurfaced in the last year but could be said to be making a comeback. With most people now in the possession of a mobile phone camera QR codes can be automatically opened and read - without any additional software needed. The codes are easily transferable, being able to be placed onto various packaging, advertising and marketing materials making it an easy way for customers to access a website on their digital device.
“With QR codes coming native to iOS 11, small business retailers have an incredible opportunity with QR codes. They could provide the easiest call-to-action (CTA) at the POS and enable local shops a mobile-first channel of engagement for customers immediately post-sale on receipts. That's why at Star Cloud Services, we created Promo PRNT and will be rolling it out soon.
With Western companies such as Snap Inc, Amazon, Spotify and Shopify actively utilizing them, it's clear QR codes are no longer just the domain of Tencent (WeChat) and Alibaba (Alipay) and they should make their way increasingly in retail contexts, augmenting digital influence in brick and mortar stores.” (David Salisbury, VP of Sales and Marketing at Star Cloud Services)
10) Retailers that create assortments win
Modern customers are bombarded with countless product choices and will often end up buying from collections that are merly uninspiring. Retailers are now starting to see the skill in tailoring their products specifically to their customers - providing a wide variety of choice with thoughtful products that they would love.
12) Retailer store formats will be much more diverse
Retailers will consider where their stores are positioned in terms of attracting both existing and new customers. From the location they are placed to how their physical store is decorated companies will be looking to address every facet of their business with scrutiny and a keen eye.
“The days of the one-size fits all store model are fading, and the future will require a more flexible approach with a variety of store formats designed to address different locations and markets.” (Neil Saunders, Managing Director and a Retail Analyst at GlobalData Retail)

Emmys 2020 Winners List (Updating)
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
It’s been a long, unusual path to the 2020 Emmy Awards. The television industry by and large shut down in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. And yet, TV carried on as best it could. Now the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS) is set to honor the best of the medium in a very strange year.
The Emmy Awards have understandably gone about things a little differently this time around. The Creative Arts Emmys, usually a lesser-heralded and non-televised event, got nearly a full week in the spotlight, airing in five parts, culminating in a ceremony on FXX on the night of Saturday, Sept. 19. You can find the full list of the Creative Arts Emmys over here. The time has finally come, however, for the main event.
Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the main awards show at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Like the Creative Arts ceremonies before it, the 2020 Emmy Awards will be socially distanced, with winners and presenters video conferencing in remotely while Kimmel emcees from the cavernous Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles. Don’t worry – he will apparently have some guests so as to not get too lonely.
With Game of Thrones ending its long reign of terror, there are some opportunities for shows like Succession, The Crown, and Ozark to shine in the drama categories. Meanwhile, the final season of Schitt’s Creek could make it a long night for fellow comedies like Insecure, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and The Good Place. Support These Black-Owned Coffee Companies [Updating]
Original print by Cxffeeblack—pre-order now available.
Many readers have reached out in the last 24 hours via email and social media, requesting a resource to support Black-owned coffee companies in today’s historic moment for civil rights in the United States. In response, the last 24 hours have been spent reaching out and calling in to Black-owned coffee businesses across the United States, speaking directly with owners, founders, and members of various leadership teams. The goal was to provide a working, updating list of Black-owned coffee businesses across the country while prioritizing consent and permission from every included company.
Consent to being included is incredibly important, for reasons both obvious and subtle. This list is not perfect or fully authoritative and will be updated with additional information in the hours and days to come as we continue to gather consent and input from Black-owned coffee companies.
Alongside their own work, each owner and business leader was welcomed to spotlight an organization—be it local or national—that they wanted to amplify at this moment. Join us in donating to these organizations, and please see yesterday’s feature for an additional list of organizations and educational resources to support. Most of these are outside of the sphere of coffee—this is a moment that’s bigger than coffee.
If buying a bag of coffee is the beginning and end of your activism, that’s not enough. Don’t let it be where it ends.
This story is updating—we will continue adding businesses to it in the hours and days to come. Want to get in touch? Reach out via the contact form.

Des Moines, Iowa based BLK & Bold was founded by Rod Johnson and Pernell Cezar. A distribution deal with Target makes BLK & Bold one of the biggest national Black-owned coffee brands in the United States in terms of coffee availability and access.
Here’s more info from the official BLK & Bold website:
“Our founders, Pernell & Rod, created BLK & Bold with a desire to make purpose popular. They welcome the obligation to equip young people with tools to live their best lives and overcome familiar unfortunate circumstances by turning a daily ritual, enjoying a cup of coffee & tea, into a means of giving back. BLK & Bold pledges 5% of its profits to initiatives aligned to sustaining youth programming, enhancing workforce development, and eradicating youth homelessness.”
Rod Johnson of BLK & Bold would like to recommend Sprudge readers consider supporting B&B’s national and local pledge partners, No Kid Hungry and By Degrees Foundation.

Getchusomegear founder Chris McAuley is dedicated to passing on support to marginalized baristas. Their project compiles used and no longer needed coffee gear and gifts it to baristas around the country, a laudable action that feels increasingly essential in the current shared moment. Learn more about this project in Chris McAuley’s guest spot on @FullBodiedSweetFinish and click here to learn more on how to support Getchusomegear’s mission, including donating gear.
