SSSS.GRIDMAN THE GATTAI Full Powered Girdknight
Missed the preorder window on this one, but managed to snag the second one that popped up on Mandarake. And I'm glad I did, because this thing is great. This should be the same mold as the upcoming THE GATTAI FP Gridman, and it is a startling improvement. This isn't just some simple retool; it's an entirely new mold. Not even Gridknight is the same, overhauling him to better fit his role as the center of this robot, something the original Gridman failed to do.
The Good: Gone is the flimsy DX Full Powered Gridman. To start, Gridknight has been fitted almost entirely with ratcheted joints, meaning he can now much more easily hold the weight of all his machines. Not only that, but they took a page out of the Moderoid's book and made a stronger, more posable replacement torso, but also fixed the issue I had with it by giving it its own head, so you can display both Gridknight and FP Gridknight at the same time. But even if you choose to forgo it, Gridknight is perfectly capable of holding everything up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Onto everyone else, this set actually comes with two Calibers of different sizes, and a handle so you can use the larger one's chest piece as a shield. Max, Borr, and Sky are functionally the same as vehicles, but Max's cannons now stop at the appropriate height so you don't have to fiddle with that during transformation.
Powered Knight Zenon may not look much different from the original, but has quite a few new tricks going on under the hood. For starters, it requires no adapters; everything is designed into the vehicles themselves, including the very impressive neck joint they added (which just blows my mind how they pulled that off). They also gave it a much better A-stance, actual ankles to accommodate it, and you can use Sky's transformation joints to give it some inward arm motion.
And Full Powered Gridknight is an impressive feat, being both taller than the original and around its scale to Dynazenon seen in the film. The transformation is also so much cleaner. Everything feels better, connects better, is much more solid, even more so than Dynazenon. They even made the cuts in Sky's wings the actual transformation joint, which several of the releases haven't done. And he is ridiculously posable. It has every joint; I don't know what else to tell you. It also comes with open and posable alternative hand. They even added dedicated engineering into Borr that allows for a brand new combination with Goldburn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Bad: Not everything is exactly perfect, though. While you can get the new Gridknight to work as Rouge Kaiser, the elbows are too long, meaning you have to twist the arms in a weird way to get them to fit, and Dynasoldier is less stable.
And both Zenon and FP have mediocre ankles. Like, they work, but Zenon's require a bit of fidgeting and you often have to display them on their toes. FP on the other hand just doesn't have enough rock, making more wide-legged, dynamic poses an issue. I recommend using the included stand to help with those (...which I did not take pictures of).
Tumblr media
Overall, the difference is quality between this and the original DX are dirt and stratosphere. If you were disappointed by the original, or if you liked the Moderoid, then I highly recommend this one, or just waiting a few months for the V2 to come out.

Gridman Universe & ULTRAMAN: What's next?
Tumblr media
Gridman Universe
The last running spin off manga, Hime & Samurai and Gridman Dogma, have now concluded, as has the adaptation of SSSS.Gridman, sadly there still seems to be no sign of any of the manga or novels getting licensed for the English language markets.
Tumblr media
The only confirmed upcoming project for the Gridman Universe is a film currently scheduled for 2023, with the working title Gridman x Dynazenon. While we can reasonably expect Primal Fighter Gridman and DynaRex to appear, and possibly some combinations between them, I don't necessarily expect the Gridman Alliance or Gauma Team to appear, aside from one for spoiler reasons. More likely to appear in my view are the New Century High School Students and the GridKnight Alliance.
In upcoming figure terms, the MODEROID like from Good Smile Company has displayed prototypes for a Full Power Gridman set, and Bandai recently surprise announced an SMP release of DynaZenon, which will make SMP the first series to have releases of everything from all 3 series.
ULTRAMAN
Tumblr media
The ULTRAMAN manga is still going strong. The anime second season covered events roughly equivalent through to the end of volume 11, the manga has now reached volume 18 in Japan and has continued past there.
Tumblr media
Shortly after the second season dropped Netflix announced ULTRAMAN FINAL, a 3rd season planned to drop in 2023. It's hard to guess how much will wind up being adapted, especially of it's another 6 episode season. The trailer is very evocative of the original Ultraman finale, which may imply it will skip a great deal and cover events from more recent and currently releasing chapters. If it emerges nearer the time that the anime is skipping some volumes (which should become evident from character previews), I will try and cover some of that before the season releases.
Tumblr media
The ULTRAMAN SUIT ANOTHER UNIVERSE stories are continuing, inserted into an altered version of the manga storyline, with the 8U arc currently resumed, I'll be covering that as it continues.
Figures wise, threezero have indicated plans to complete the 6 brothers, plus at least 3 further Another Universe figures. The only current announced upcoming release from the Figure-Rise Standard line is an ACTION version of TIGA Suit, although given the JACK Suit's current presence in the Story a release of it is hopefully forthcoming.

Gridman Universe Full Spoiler Review
Studio Trigger animation is flashy and striking consistently, and sometimes they're able to say really interesting things as a result! With that in mind, Gridman Universe does ask an interesting question:
What if Cocomelon was for giving straight people j/o ideas?
Apparently this is the only question weebs want to be asked, so it's peak.
PROS
Of the kaiju fights, 3.2/4 are very good. Large swaths of the Noirdogma fight suck balls, but once Alexis shows up they're actually okay. Unfortunately, that fight transitions fully to being the Mad Origin fight once he shows up.
Universe Fighter, Grid Hyper Fixer Beam, and Full Powered Gridknight are very good forms.
Soundillus, which I refuse to call Sounderous but will probably cave to eventually, is fine.
Yuta's reach for Gridman is actually really well constructed. I'll take a soft L. This part is good. I can actually make a really coherent argument that this is the best evidence we have that this Tsutsujidai is a Gridman Universe Tsutsujidai rather than Akane's.
If you buy into my insane read of the work there's actually really good grounding for basically all of it. You have to dig a LITTLE to justify what's up with Gaurex but everything else is fine.
The confession is so utterly chemistryless that it's actually possible to walk away with the conclusion that Yuta is gay and has picked someone unattainable and now doesn't know what to do with himself after getting a yes. He unironically looks like he's handling a no he thinks he's getting better than a yes. I'm putting this in pros because it makes me hate the movie less.
CONS
First and foremost: the pacing. This movie feels like a compilation movie. This movie REALLY feels like a compilation movie; somehow, in the half of the movie that is mostly slice of life, it feels like it's missing large chunks of its slice of life. It EVENTUALLY calls this out as part of the diegesis, but that's not actually satisfying as a movie experience. "It's bad because an evil alien is making it bad" does not make it not bad.
I don't feel the same naturalism of depicted human life in this film at all. There are very few of the contemplative shots that made the SSSS works SSSS-tier; the only one I'd say really even comes close is the stuff leading up to and surrounding the swingset bit, and even that is sort of ... I personally felt the scene was a little janky for both Yuta and Rikka even if not analyzed through the lens of trying to convince us this is a (re)meet-cute.
There's a really dumb recurring bit where Yuta flashes back to hearing what I presume are the former D Girls talking about Rikka having a boyfriend who's a university student. This plays like six times and it's annoying not for heterosexuality reasons but for "enormously patronizing to the viewer" reasons.
I could not tell you a trait expressed by a single member of the Dynazenon human team in more than one scene except, perhaps, "Koyomi is pathetic," "Yomogi misses Gauma," and "Yume is extremely straight." Yuta, who wasn't actually a character in SSSS.GRIDMAN, is semi-consistent and his most consistent topnote is that he is a pathetic wet cat. He is often LITERALLY a pathetic wet cat, in fact. Utsumi is missing the emotional core of the way his character changes in eps 11-12 of SSSS.GRIDMAN. Rikka does not have a personality other than "slightly brassy sometimes" and "really, really, really scared of losing people," except the only person placed at meaningful risk for more than 15 minutes is Yuta. Anti is basically not in this movie despite there being two of him. He does not express, like, traits. Akane exists to basically fully be a Deus ex Machina. The only character I'd describe as fully consistent across all depictions is Gauma.
The level of self-mythologizing going on in this movie is off the charts. Almost everything, from the main swerve of the movie to the smallest set dressing pieces, is a Denkou Choujin callback. The calls to other Tsuburaya or Trigger works are essentially gone.
An absolutely enormous amount is sacrificed on the altar of the twist; Dynazenon is a much worse text now unless your brain is very, very big, which mine is. Most people aren't going to apply that level of analysis so I have to count it as a con because the public understanding of Dynazenon is going to be much, much worse.
Powered Knight Zenon doesn't actually fight despite being one of the better designs in the piece.
It's not just het; it's really all-in on the idea that: 1) Yuta is special, 2) somehow YOMOGI is special despite having done basically nothing except have feelings about Gaurex up to the point in the movie at which he is special, and 3) Yuta wanting to fuck a girl is what makes him special. I would actually rate his desire to confess to Rikka ahead of his sense of self-sacrifice as far as "trait the movie rewards and considers heroic" goes.
I cannot think of a single thing in the first 50 minutes I think is actually, like, unambiguously good, other than the kaiju fight. The slice of life is compilation movie level breakneck.
The confession is so utterly chemistryless that it's actually possible to walk away with the conclusion that Yuta is gay and has picked someone unattainable and now doesn't know what to do with himself. I'm putting this in cons as well as pros because it has made it abundantly clear that cishet weeb men are a different species.
Ostensibly-still-dead Tonkawa = 0/10. Undermines TV. I could go into this in great detail, but I won't.
Ako and Marusan are never in the same shot. 0/10
If I'm being INCREDIBLY fair to the movie, allowing it EVERYTHING it wants with partial credit for applied knowledge, AND treating it as essentially not in dialogue with the SSSS works, it's probably a 6. In terms of, like, being a Gridman work, 3/10 and all the points are for fights.

SSSS.Dynazenon – 10 – Moblie Suit Yourself
Tumblr media
After the group ended last week in the very highest of spirits, enjoying their own little summer fireworks festival, this week everyone seems a bit board. When it’s mentioned there haven’t been any kaiju in a while, that’s basically the…ahem…Trigger for one to appear. And this kaiju is unlike any that have come before.
Not content to fight a battle with mere, matter or energy this handsome, hulking mecha-beast’s unique ability is to blip people and objects out of time and space. Shizumu celebrates its arrival by saying he’s been waiting for this particular kind of kaiju; one that will “free them all”.
First Mujina vanishes in the blink of an eye, leaving only a motionless shadow. Then it’s Yume, who was right beside Yomogi. She ends up in the back seat of her car, younger and smaller, and her sister Kano alive and well. As Yume focuses on her sister, a tiny Dyna Wing flies behind her and eventually comes apart.
Tumblr media
The kaiju trudges through the city, blipping out entire buildings, and its here where Dynazenon, already a proven virtuoso in the field of sound design, really takes it up a level. There’s just something so terrifying and yet also oddly calming about how it goes about its business in dead silence. Like the characters, it feels like dread is lurking just around the corner, and you wont hear it when it’s finally upon you.
Yomogi and Koyomi are on an elevator to a rooftop, but only Yomogi makes it to the top, as Koyomi is absorbed into his memory of finding the cash with Inamoto-san. Yomogi, discouraged, leaps into the kaiju’s mouth before the building beneath him vanishes. Anti is transported back to when he was in Akane’s world, and Akane even makes a cameo at the restaurant where Anti pigs out.
Tumblr media
Even Gauma isn’t immune to the Kaiju’s insidious attack, being transported back over five thousand years to the time he wore the same uniform as the Eugenicists, and they were all buds, and he met the Princess, his affection for whom led to him betraying his comrades.
Yomogi ends up in the memory when his mother first brought up her new boyfriend/husband-to-be, but unlike the others Yomogi isn’t that interested in this illusion. He regrets not telling his mom he didn’t want to meet the guy, but he doesn’t try to re-live anything, because he’s primarily concerned with saving Yume and the others.
Tumblr media
It’s foremost in his brain that it’s All Up To Him. And as his Dyna Soldier isn’t broken, he grasps it and manages to shatter the memory, ending up in a void somewhere within the kaiju’s body. There, he can see through the various mirrors, windows, and displays in the memories of the others, including Yume, but is unable to attract her attention.
Meanwhile, the buildings and people still existing in the city are dwindling fast as the kaiju continues its relentless march, but both Chise and Second are protected from being blipped by—you guessed it—the trusty Goldburn. But they’re unable to do anything in that shield; only hope someone can undo the kaiju’s undoing.
Despite being in their respective past younger selves, Yume, Koyomi, and Gauma are still aware on some level that their situations are chances to right wrongs they’ll later regret. Koyomi doesn’t run from Inamoto, and takes her on a joyride to the beach with the cash. Yume tries to stop Kano from leaving for the flood gate, but isn’t able to follow through.
Tumblr media
As Chise starts to seriously worry, Second assures her whether the others can return is “entirely up to them.” That may be true, but it’s mostly up to Yomogi, who after literally throwing himself at a solid wall again and again says he simply Will Not Stand for Yume feeling bad—is finally able to shatter the boundary between them.
Yume instantly transforms back to her present-day age, and holds the beaten-up Yomogi when he collapses. Once again, Yomogi puts others first, exclaiming for them to stop her sister. Kano is indeed atop the flood gate, singing a lovely but also sad and lonely song. But to Yume’s relief, she’s not trying to kill herself. She has no intention of dying, and she genuinely wants Yume to come to her recital.
Tumblr media
Yomogi leaves Yume with her sister so they can talk for a little while, confident that unlike last time Yume will come back. He then proceeds to free Koyomi, Gauma, and Anti. Koyomi learns that even back then Inamoto wasn’t serious about them running away together, and suspected the cash was fake.
Gauma faces his former friends and says he didn’t betray the others for the country that betrayed them, but for the Princess alone. Anti…well, Anti seemingly knew what was going on all along and was planning to leave of his own accord.
Tumblr media
Getting back to Yume, she has what so many people who have lost someone under mysterious circumstances would dream of having: not a chance to bring that person back, but to learn what actually happened so she can have closure. When Kano realizes this is an older version of Yume from after her death, she regrets distancing herself from Yume due to her superior “agreeability”.
It soothes Yume’s heart to no end to know Kano didn’t take her life or invite her to her recital as some kind of cruel goodbye crystallizing their rift for all time. Instead, the reason for her being on the flood gate was all too practical and mundane: she wanted somewhere solitary to practice singing.
Before they part, Kano urges Yume to “make sure you rely on people”—something Yume mentions she’s already gotten the hang of. When Yume asks if she should stay in this world with her, Kano tells her the same thing she used to say to her all the time—”suit yourself”—but this time its  meant out of love and confidence in Yume, not apathy or resentment.
Tumblr media
With all four Dyna Pilots plus Anti freed from their pasts, it’s time for a kaiju battle, which is quick and clean. With a full head of steam and maximum motivation and synchonization, the group blasts out of the kaiju and combine with Goldburn to become Super Dragon King Kaiser Gridknight.
When their opponent proves quick and elusive, they power up Dyna Saber and unleash a Kaiser Knight Circular, and ever-expanding purple ring that eventually catches up to the furiously darting kaiju’s teal trail, slicing it clean in two. Interestingly enough, the minimalist abstract shape seen from high above calls to mind both the neon signs of the eighties and the graphics once common on Solo cups and pickup trucks alike.
Tumblr media
With the highest-difficulty kaiju defeated, every character comes away a changed person, no more than Yume, who celebrates having made up with Kano and learned the truth by singing on the top of the flood gate as her sister once did.
Koyomi learns he was chasing something unattainable all along, and choosing to go with Inamoto didn’t magically make them be together. Yomogi doesn’t really deal with his problems, but to be fair, he was singularly responsible for saving the others. Even if Anti freed himself, he’s not a Dyna pilot, and didn’t harbor anywhere near the intensity of emotions Yomogi harbored for Yume. That may have kept him from helping the others.
The episode ends cryptically, when after Gauma collapses due to apparent hunger, we cut back to him lying on the ground in the past after betraying the Eugenicists. I’m notot sure what to make of this, but I’m certainly intrigued. Despite this ellipsis, this episode still represents another high watermark for Dynazenon excellence.

S.S.S.S. Gridman - Guia de episódios
 1 Awakening
6 Contact
Hibiki agradece a Gridman, pois graças a ele, todos conseguiram acordar.
Gridman faz a luta final contra Alexis Kerib.

SSSS.DYNAZENON THE GATTAI Gridman Universe & Big Goldburn
Thank goodness this one didn't have shipping issues like the last Goldburn set. In fact, I got an email a week out saying exactly when it would ship, and it arrived before the tracking number could even update. That's pretty good service if you ask me, especially compared to last time.
Oh, and I really enjoyed the crossover film. It basically gave us everything you'd want from this type of thing; catching up with the characters post-series, lots of fun character moments between the casts, previous villains playing heroic roles, every single possible robot combination you might want, just a lot of fun overall.
The Good: Gridman Universe is a decent upgrade to its previous incarnations. While it looses a bit of posability, it has ratcheted shoulders to help support the weight of the larger arms. The hands are also easier to swap, and they fixed the issue with the chest gem by giving it a release button on the back of the figure.
Big Goldburn is a bit of a brick, but has a few articulated areas. He's got arms, fingers and toes, wings, a bit of neck and tail, and a mouth (though its on the same joint as the neck, so it clashes). Also, when you spin the shoulders, the internals and tips spin in the opposite direction.
And Rouge Kaiser Gridman is very cool. It feels a lot more solid than its Gridknight counterpart, with the tail also serving to tripod the unit if need be (though it doesn't need it).
The Bad: While Gridman's new shoulders do help hold everything up better than its predecessors, I do find it to be a little under-powered. They hold a pose well, but if you start moving the figure, they will shift around. There are some weird transformation ideas that feel like they're there for longevity's sake, but they do seem and feel a bit odd at first. And this may just be a thing with international shipments, but the instructions seem to imply the chest piece is supposed to come with batteries (it is illustrated with a pulltab), but in practice has none. It required 3 LR44s, but it's important to note that those batteries have multiple names and can vary by brand, so have your phone out while shopping in-store for them.
Overall, while I can try and nitpick this kit, it's a fantastic addition to both the DX Gridman and The Gattai lines. It does a great job trying to adjust to the failings of its predecessors, and gives me high hopes for the Full Power Gridman V2 releasing later this year. I've got my nose to the ground trying to track down Full Power Gridknight (since I missed the preorder window on that one), so hopefully we'll get to talk about that one soon, too.

MODEROID SSSS.DYNAZENON Dynazenon
So I wasn’t originally planning on getting this one, but then they revealed the quite interesting Moderoid Full Power Gridman, and I wanted Dynazenon as a companion piece... which is exactly why I bought the DX Gridman when DX Dynazenon was revealed... and why I bought GaoKing... and why I bought OhrangerRobo... and why I bought... Y’know, I’m noticing a pattern, and it’s not a good one.
The Good: It has slightly more posability than the DX Dynazenon, including a waist, holds together a bit more solidly, and has proportions with a bit more anime dynamicism. He’s also better proportioned compared to DX Gridknight and the Gagula vinyl, so they display well together.
Tumblr media
The Bad: There’s quite a bit of parts replacement. Some, like the waist feel unnecessary, others like the car panels are neat, and stuff like the removal of DynaSoldier’s arms and the added shoulder plugs are a bit disappointing, especially since it makes the shoulders inaccurate. I feel like there was a better way to balance things, or use more of the pre-existing engineering.
The Details: Just panel lining and stickers.
Overall, I still prefer the DX, but it’s both cheaper and more easily available, so it’s a good alternative for those reasons.

SSSS.DYNAZENON THE GATTAI Gridknight & Goldburn
Oh, I have a story! I preordered these two back in July (’21), with it being announced that it would ship in January (’22). Now, there was a lot of issues with shipping in general back in January, so I wasn’t surprised when it didn’t ship during that month. Come March, I had still heard nothing, so I sent an email, and half-an-hour later I got an email saying it shipped.
They had forgot to send mine.
But it was just a label being printed, so I kept my eye out until it actually shipped, and I’m glad I did because my shipment was cancelled a few days later. I sent another email, and a few hours later I got a message in response to the first one saying they were sorry and giving me a new, working tracking number. Another two or three days later and I got a response to that second email, again apologizing for the confusion and re-giving me the second tracking number. It shipped a day or two later, and I obviously have it now, but if you haven't received yours yet, you should probably email them about it.
The Good: Gridknight is Gridman with a remolded head and bigger hands, and it’s a pretty good mold when those hips don’t have to support the weight of two support vehicles. It has a decent range of posability, and doesn’t need any adapters to combine with Goldburn or Dynazenon, though comes with one as a gap filler, and another so you can pose Gridknight on DynaRex’s back.
Goldburn is also pretty good, having just enough posability to get any pose you might want out of it. He does require an adapter to be held as a shield, but that’s it; all other forms are easily accomplished without any.
As for Kaiser Gridknight, it’s a surprisingly solid transformation considering Dynasoldier is just rocking out on its shoulder, but it actually uses the tail pipe as its main connection which gives it a lot of stability.
The Bad: The chest connection for Kaiser Gridknight is very strong. I pulled Gridknight’s chest piece out the first time I combined them, and I think that happened when I combined it with Gridman a while ago as well. It pops back in easily, but it’s still concerning. What’s also concerning is the first time I tried to swap the right holding-things-hand the ball unpegged itself from the wrist. I was able to re-glue it together, but I worry I might find more QC issues in the future.
The DynaRex-Burn Gridknight display adapter also feels like it was assembled backwards, so Gridknight always looks like he’s floating and you can’t really get any good poses out of it that don’t look good from more than one angle.
And while I did say Gridknight had fine enough posability, there were a few iconic poses (mostly him crossing his arms) that I tried to but was unable to replicate.
Overall, It’s a good addition to the lineup of now 11 Agents, machines, and kaiju that make up the Gridman team. I’m hoping we at least round it out to 12 in the upcoming movie, but I’d also just be happy with a second swing at Full Power Gridman with stronger hips.
Again, if you ordered this set, and it hasn’t shipped yet, make sure to email Good Smile JP/US (depending on your region) to make sure you get it.

SSSS.DYNAZENON Max Combine DX Dynazenon
I don’t know how I’ve ended up with so much Gridman merch. I’ve somehow got two different Full Power Gridman, a tiny Gridknight, a tiny “episode 1 color scheme” Gridman, and now this guy. And here’s the thing: up until this release they’ve typically been a bit overpriced and ok at best, yet I’ve kept buying them. Glad this one turned better than the rest...or maybe not because it might convince me to buy more...
The Good: I hinted at it, but this is a significant step up in comparison to the previous SSSS toys, especially Good Smile’s FP Gridman which was its direct predecessor. Dyna Soldier is just about as posable as Gridman, having most of the same joints, though lacking a waist. Dyna Wing’s wings are very articulate, able to ratchet into a lot of different positions. Dyna Striker and Diver don’t have any real articulation as vehicles, but Diver has this great gimmick where all of its missile ports spring motor release in order like an actual submarine. It’s really cool to see, and not intrusive at all. BTW, most of the major joints on this release are ratcheted.
Then it has all it’s combinations: 5 instructed, 1 double combo, and 2 secret ones. Soldier can combine with Wing, Striker, or Diver individually (or Wing and Striker together), and all four can come together to form either Dynazenon or DynaRex. Dynazenon is also quite posable. Not as posable as a typical figure, but has good range in the arms, hips, knees, and head to achieve a large number of poses. DynaRex isn’t as so, but has a lot of range in the arms, and enough in the legs, jaw, and tail to change it up.
Oh, and, yes, that is what Dyna Soldier Diver Combine looks like.
Tumblr media
Then there’re the two secret combos. As I was swapping between modes, I noticed a few odd pieces on Wing and Diver that weren’t used for any of the modes, even after combing through the instructions:
Tumblr media
At first I thought they might be for a future Gridknight release so he could don the armor as well, but as I was messing with FP Gridman, I noticed how some of the screw-holes in the back lined up to match the pegs on Diver, so I tried plugging Striker into him like Max, and, well...
Tumblr media
Max Combine’s Gridman is fully compatible with Dynazenon in place of Dyna Soldier (apart from the helmet). His arms aren’t as solid as Soldier’s since they don’t slide into Wing, but he can still pose fairly well. In fact, it was around this time I noticed a few things about Dyna Soldier on its own, like how its forehead gem ends up right inside the dragon’s throat, or how its tail it shaped like a handle with a trigger, so just like in the original Gridman, he can be wielded like the Dragonic Cannon (though I’m unsure of what it would canonically look like; I just went with a pose that kept his claws away from any paint):
Tumblr media
The way it handles its accessories is also an improvement. FP had a standard stand and all its accessories and adapters were loose. Dynazenon’s stand is much sturdier, with a ton of ports to accommodate a lot of poses, plus all of its accessories, optional hands, and stand parts have storage points either on the back edge of the stand, or underneath it.
Tumblr media
The Bad: Biggest flaw is the waist connection. Dyna Soldier and Diver hold together perfectly fine when standing still or in any pose, but if you go to pick it up, they will immediately separate. This can be annoying when you’re putting Dynazenon or DynaRex together, too. While I think the missiles are awesome, they can be hard to close without significant force, especially the second to bottom ports. On the side of posability, while I don’t mind it lacking certain joints, like a waist, the fact that the shoulders bump into the wings frequently is a bit disappointing, and I wish there was a bit of rotation up in the hips so it could achieve a more natural A-stance as its legs are always pointed forward.
Tumblr media
Overall, this release is probably actually worth your money. It’s significantly large, better built, better posing, and just more fun. If you were holding out on getting this one because you were disappointed in Full Power Gridman, or if you think it looks cool, then I’d say check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Guide to Gridman Universe
Part 2A: Denkou Chojin Gridman: Mao no Gyakushu.
Plans for a 4th quarter of the show were abandoned early enough that part of the storyline planned that would have had to appear in the 3rd quarter weren't made, specifically Todo Takeshi would have created a way to become an evil copy of Gridman, Khanknight, and from there evolve to become Gridknight. Additional plans for a sequel with a largely new cast in a new city, Denkou Chojin Gridman F were eventually abandoned (Ippei was the only main cast member who would have carried over). In the end, the only official continuation of Gridman for 20 years was a Televikun photo story, The Demon King's Counterattack. This was a sequel, told using suit photos and prose text, similar to the majority of Andro Melos or Kamen Rider ZX, and did loosely incorporate the Gridknight idea, albeit in a different manner. Due to budget most of the Kaiju were small clay models.
Khan Digifer's younger brother, Neo Khan Digifer, comes to try and finish what his brother started. His first effort revives one of his brother's Kaiju, altered, otherwise creating new ones from leftover data for them, but his efforts break through into the Real World. Gridman returns, joining again with Naoto, Ippei, Yuka and a repentant Takeshi to fight him.
Tumblr media
Neo Khan Digifer is the leader of the new attempt to take over the world, attacking the real world.
Tumblr media
Full Power Gridman is a new form of Gridman used to try and overpower the Kaiju, by having Thunder Gridman ride on the King Jet wielding the Dragonic Cannon.
Tumblr media
Gridman Sigma comes to join the fight. The younger brother of Gridman, he merges with Takeshi and wears the Gran Acceptor on his right arm. Similar to his brother he uses the Sigma Slash, Grid Sigma Beam and Fixer Beam, as well as combination attacks with his brother.
Tumblr media
As the battle rages Sigma eventually joins Thunder Gridman as King Gridman Sigma. Together they perform the Dragon Spiral attack.

The Master Swordsman's End
SSSS.Dynazenon: Gagula continues to rampage while Kaiser GridKnight lies defeated. 2nd has no more Fixer Beams, but tries to ease Gauma's pain. As Kaiser GridKnight struggles to stand and fight, Koyomi is running. Juuga, Mujina and Onija are surprised there's another kaiju, and try to use Instance Domination only to realise it's Sizumu, and they call out, wanting to fight more, and Gagula consumes them, evolving. Gauma opens his eyes, but can tell he hasn't got long, he apologises to Yomogi and Yume for getting them involved in his Battle, Yomogi says it's only because of him they've made bonds, he thanks them and asks that they thank Koyomi too. Gagula breaks Kaiser GridKnight into constituent parts, Yomogi and Yume rush for DynaWing and DynaSoldier, Chise leaps off her train, DynaStriker lands in front of Koyomi. Gauma starts pulling himself up, intending to help finish Gagula to give his friends a future, and we see like Koyomi, Yomogi now has a scar similar to Gauma's. He thinks he's missed his chance with Yume, and leaps into DynaSoldier. As GridKnight struggles, DynaStriker rolls in, Mujina from inside angrily yells at Koyomi for touching her again. Yume falls, also getting a scar, and tells Kano she'll make it, DynaSoldier appearing to get her there. Chise sees Goldburn and calls out, he wakes up, and flies into shield mode to protect GridKnight, then DynaSoldier Wing Combine leaps in, and DynaDiver joins the fight Gauma piloting with help from 2nd. He apologises to the confused Koyomi, and tells Knight he'll help if he likes it or not. They form Kaiser GridKnight and fight. Onija declares his goal to destroy humanity, Yomogi rejects that, Juuga talks up how important Gauma is, which Gauma dismisses, Mujina claims Koyomi caused her to realise Kaiju was all she had, he can only apologise. Yomogi and Yune call out to Suzumu, but he refuses to respond. As Gagula overpowers them with a blast, Yomogi detaches Dynamic Cannon to try Instance Domination again as he flies DynaSoldier at Gagula. He gets a definite reaction, causing Gagula to point it Blast away from Kaiser GridKnight. They split, Dynazenon launching all it has at Gagula, followed by Goldburn attaching as wings to GridKnight, flying past Gaguka and wrecking the back, before riding DynaRex. Sizumu stays silent as Onija, Juuga and Mujina declares their hatred of the "false kaiju", attacking and met by the Grid Rex Roar, Gagula loses the clas and the heroes fly in to finish things. The Eugenecists die, Onija seemingly glad to die again, Mujina wondering if it's for the best, Juuga sure kaiju will have their day, Sizumu still silent. Gauma collapses, dying as he is sad he never met her, but glad he met his friends, understanding why he was entrusted Dynazenon. Chise watches everyone descend fro the remains of DynaRex, except Gauma.
3 months later, Yomogi and Yume walk together, meeting under the bridge Gauma lived with everyone, Koyomi has changed his look and is working, a healed Goldburn is waiting. Yomogi and Yume remember Gauma always said 3 things must be kept, Love and Promises, but don't know the third. Knight and 2nd prepare warp out of this world, taking Goldburn and the inert form of DynaRex with them, as the gang wave, Chise calls after the best friend she ever had, and the group vanish into Hyper World. Yomogi and Yume head to some planned meeting. Chise and Koyomi stand outside Chise's school, under repair, and it turns out Inamoto-san's husband got Koyomi his job, he insists she's not an ex but a friend, Chise now has her dragon tattoo uncovered. At the school festival Mei's photos include ones of Yume, who needs to do something. Yomogi tells his mother and Kamijo where to go, when his mother asks about Gauma he opts to explain he's banned from school grounds, before being dragged over to the waiting Awaki, Nazumi, Ranka and Kaneishi, telling him to find Yume while Mei just appears there. She's sat in a corner of the roof when he finds her, they're meant to be running the café now. Yume offers her hand and tells him to take her, and he hears Sizumu's voice from a Computer World environment, questioning why he "wasted" his potential to be a Kaiju User, arguing if he'd embraced kaiju and destruction he'd have experienced true freedom, questioning if he'll regret it. Yomogi isn't sure, but intends to live, and rejects Sizumu's philosophy that bonds are shackles, Sizumu doesn't get it. Yomigi comes back and helps Yume up, calling her by her first name for the first time at her prompting. They get to work at the café, hoping their scars stay with them. In Computer World, Knight looks at the seal from the statue, and DynaRex stands once more. Scarred Souls Shine like Stars.
Heroes' Odyssey: Zero looks at Belial's battle with the Ultras of the Land of Light, theft of the Plasma Spark, Zero training with Leo, Rei and the Ultras battle with Belial's army, and Zero's joining the battle to defeat him. He uses this to highlight another Ultra who struggled with his own darkness, showing the revival of Hudra, Darramb and Camaerra, and how Tiga Dark appeared to face the threat they unleashed.
Saber: Luna is lost, and Izaak is going full god complex, talking down at Storious, intending to eliminate the Swordsmen, he ambushes the Shindais and turns Durandal into a puppet, forcing him to attack Reika. Yuri hears from Tassel that Luna has appeared. Kento lends him Kurayami. Solomon uses his power to reach into Wonder World to seek Luna and attack Tassel, Sophia can sense his use of the Tome's power, as Sabela contacts Northern Base for help. Slash and Buster join Sabela as Durandal begs them to kill him. Touma, Mei, Rintaro and Kento reach Solomon. Saikou, in Wonder World, blocks the attempt to reach Luna and joins them, Solomon does something that causes him to vanish, and claims Kurayami and Saikou. Xross Saver Brave Dragon, Blades Tategami Hyoujuu Senki and Espada Golden Alangina face him. Tassel reaches Luna, introducing himself and promising to take her to Touna after she understands what she is. A Triple Rider Kick defeats Solomon, who attempts to use his spell to control Touma unsuccessfully, but uses it properly on Blades and Espada. Tassel explains to Luna that she is the embodiment of Wonder World, and her chosen one, Touma, will receive Wonder World's power and live their with her forever, she doesn't want to separate him from his friends though. Kento mocks Izaak for just manipulating people, and Runtaro notes his ambitions have caused him to lose all respect anyone ever held for him. He tries to drag them into darkness, but Yuri reawaken and brakes the attack and the spell, right before Durandal is made to kill Reika. Saber uses Lion Senki and Lamp do Alangina to form Special Edition. Combining their powers, they defeat Solomon, destroying Omni Force. At Southern Base, Ryoga collapses, to both siblings intense relief. Storious laughs. The injured Izaak crawls to a tunnel, where Omni Force reforms, but as he claims eternity, Storious appears, informing him his story is at an end, he reduces him to dust and claims Omni Force for himself, debuting a new outfit.
Zenkaiger: Boccowaus praises Gege, Barashitara grousing that he's treated better despite failing as well, Stacey is distracted by Yatsude reminding him of his mother, Boccowaus has Ijirude lend Gege another gear. Items are magnetised to everyone, thanks to Jishaku World, who disrupts the change by magnetising the Geartlingers, they do separate on changing, but attach to other things, and Jishaku World leaves them trapped until Zox arrives late. They get back to Colourful, there Stacey is having a snack, he gets them to pretend he's an acquaintance, Satoshi, not their enemy, but tension flares as soon as she leaves the room, but nothing happens before they realise the magnetic fields on the Kikainoids are getting stronger and making them flee the shop, Zox is waiting outside, as Magine is trapped Kaito and Secchan realises they need to stop Jishaku World fast. "Satoshi" helps Yatsude tidy up stuff that started moving, leaving but planning to come back, he runs into Kaito trying to get his help. Vroon is caught, and Gaon and Zyuran start pulling CrocoDaiOh, which only avoids crashing thanks to reverse thrusters. Zox argues to Stacey he should help Kaito since he's Yatsude's grandson. After Jishaku World reports to Gege, Stacey tells him the Zenkaigers might have found a way around his powers luring him to where Kaito and Zox are, they start fighting him as Flint keeps fighting to stop CrocoDaiOh hitting Zyuran and Gaon, who arrives at the battle running straight for Jishaku World, forcing him to reduce magnetism in the area so CrocoDaiOh doesn't hit him, and allowing everyone to move better. Zenkaiser uses Fiveman to access FiveRed's physics knowledge that lets him know heat will weaken Jishaku World. Shinken Form uses his fire abilities as Zyuran and Gaon join the fight, ZenkaiZyuran accessing his own fire and lending it to ZenkaiGaon, the 3 weakening him for Zenkaiser. Stacey leaves since he did as asked, Dai Jishaku World takes the field, separating Twokai-Oh, both ZenkaiOhs attempt to form, but are made the same poles. They use this to force Zyuran at Dai Jishaku World, so he pulls them in, only for them all to get stuck to him, but together they attack. Ijirude and Barashitara tell Gege he's not better than them, but he notes his involvement put Boccowaus in a better mood, so they'll now have more chances to try, and tells Stacey he knows what he did, but won't say for now. Yatsude asks Kaito about Satoshi, she could tell something was up when they met, Kaito admits they've fought, but makes clear he wants to be friends.
