don’t rebog/comment with spoilers
I’ve been watching naruto (though i started a while ago, then quit then started again), and here are some thoughts
And of course, spoiler warning.
Edit:  I had to google name spellings, so I accidentally referred to Itachi as Obito.
1.  I saw one guy naruto running in the entire first season, and even that might’ve been because his arms had been stabbed.
2.  Why does Naruto live alone?  Isn’t he like… 12/13?
3.  Naruto transforming into Sasuke in order to get a date with Sakura… no, sweetie… the dubcon vibes were so strong.  I guess thats anime for ya.
4.  Iruka acting paternally to Naruto gotta love it
5.  Rock Lee’s backstory made me cry. (me a couple days later:  wait till he has to choose between getting the operation with a 50/50 shot at survival or giving up on his dreams.  I cried again.)
6.  Actually, what is it with them and trauma dumping during a battle?  I get that it’s to show why the battle has meaning, and it works really effectively, but why does the other opponent just stand there?  Too awkward?  Would it be rude to attack the guy telling you his tragic backstory?
7.  For that matter, whenever an opponent falls down you should probably hit them again.  I know this might be bad sportsmanship if you end up hitting a downed opponent, but the amount of times I’ve seen somebody just slowly pull themselves back up and continue fighting is too many.  When you see someone doing that, hit them before they get back up and end the fight.
8.  The very first episode of season 3 starts with Naruto sacrificing his dignity/ethical integrity for training from a guy named the toad sage.  Who is just.  Urgh. bleh.  I like the character, he’s funny, but he just does these things i hate.  They seem fine in a cartoon but if they happened in real life, it would be… bad.
9.  Then we get a more in-depth characterization from Naruto.  I only saw him as a total brat and slack-off when I started watching, but he actually tries really hard?  It’s that so many things are difficult for him.
8.  For some reason watching Orochimaru’s expression in his fight against the Hokage in s3 made me feel bad for him, which is weird because he wasn’t supposed to be portrayed sympathetically.
9.  I keep rooting for the villains to win without realizing it.  I can’t help it, they’re so cool.
10.  The rocks with the hokages’ faces on them is just the ninja version of Mount Rushmore, isn’t it.
11.  New theory the fourth hokage is Naruto’s father, go!
12.  I’ve just started questioning whether or not Naruto is an orphan.  Do you think we just never see his parents?  I mean, that happens in animes sometimes, right?  They’re just not relevant?
13.  Gaara’s backstory made me cry too.  It’s so heartbreaking.  I just want to scoop tiny Gaara up and hold him tight.  Which would probs end with me dead though.  I felt bad for him before I saw his backstory as well.
14.  Does Naruto seriously eat nothing but ramen?!  I saw him eat watermelon once, but other than that I don’t think i’ve ever seen him eat anything else. (nvm latest episode had him eating a bunch of other things)
15.  We were getting Sasuke’s tragic backstory and all I could think about was how attractive Itachi Uchiha was.  This is how villain sympathizers start, isn’t it? Oh man.  Sasuke’s backstory was very tragic however.  How does he even function?  Do ninjas just not do trauma like the rest of us?
16.  There’s so much property damage in this show.
17.  The land of tea.  Enough said.
18.  (So.  Much.  Naruto.  Running.)
19.  Do NOT steal from ninjas.
20.  In “Run, Idate, Run! Nagi Island Awaits!”  Naruto jumps out of the boat and into the water and swims.  Which strikes me as odd, because we saw him learn how to walk on water nearly two seasons ago.  Can he swim faster than he walks?  Did he forget?  Did the writers forget?  Is he just conserving chakra?  Nvm he used it later.
21.  The second hokage's lightning blade.  They broke it.  I mean, a guy was using it to try to kill them, but still.  That was… incredibly important.  And they BROKE it. Hnnnnnnng.  I totally thought sasuke would break it with his chidori (and he kinda did) because apparently kakashi used the chidori to cut lighting in half.
22.  WAIT THE GUYS IN THIS EPISODE WERE THE MOB
P.s. it took me like 9 days to watch 58 eps.
