I can't believe the Dakar is over already. I started out being mostly interested in the bikes, so they have a special place in my heart. And I am a KTM girlie, so this year's Honda domination made me real sad. Although the results of all the other categories that I follow make up for that.

I might be the biggest Martin Macik fan and I feel like out of all the winners, he (and his team of course) deserves it the most. It's his 12th Dakar and I'm so happy everything's finally worked out for him. With 2 hours ahead of the 2nd.

Also I was really rooting for Carlos Sainz and Audi in general. Audi had a three year programm with a hybrid car and this was their last Dakar (for now) and I really wanted them to get a win. Preferably with Carlos. Audi is a great example for team work as well. I'm so happy for them. And the fact that Carlos Jr. flew in to see his dad win makes me so happy.

But I've got to admit that a little part of me was rooting for Sebastien Loeb as well. Dude's won so many championships and stages, but never the Dakar itself. He's been on the podium so many times and he was so close to Carlos for the better part of the race. But honestly after those mechanical problems, I'm just glad he's still on the podium.

And probably the biggest of them all. Christina Gutierrez ladies and gentlemen. The second woman to ever win the Dakar, after Jutta Kleinschmidt, the queen of motorsports, but in a different category. I hope Christina gets to drive in the Ultimate category soon, so she can kick some ass there alongside Laia Sanz, my queen.

And speaking of women in the Dakar, can we talk about Anja Van Loon and her team? A girls team in the trucks? How cool is that? And they're 13th overall😭

Not to forget the mission 1000. I've been a fan of the hydrogen truck since it was first presented at Dakar and I love that more and more people test their alternatively powered vehicles there.

Last but not least probably my favorite part about this year's Dakar (alongside Martin, Carlos and Christina winning). The best friendship in the bivouac: Daniel Sanders and Matthias Walkner. Matthias couldn't compete this year because of a very bad injury (get well soon, my guy) and at first Daniel just posted things about how he'll miss his camper buddy, but when he got there, he stuffed one of Matthias' racing suits and acted like he was talking to him. And he posted a video doing that every single fucking day😭😭😭😭

Really these two are so cute.

Rosberg X Racing continúa su dominio en la Extreme E con victoria en el Island X-Prix II

Esta vez no hubo polémica. Por tercera vez en la temporada, Rosberg X Racing cruzó la meta en primera posición, pero a diferencia de la última carrera en Cerdeña esta vez sí fue la segunda victoria del año para la escudería de Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky y Johan Kristoffersson, que se escapa adelante en el campeonato. La victoria fue en pista, luego de que Ahlin-Kottulinsky completara un gran adelantamiento sobre Jutta Kleinschmidt en la vuelta final del Island X-Prix II. Luego, Kleinschmidt y el ABT Cupra, segundos en pista con Nasser Al-Attiyah, serían descalificados del evento luego de que Jutta no se abrochara completamente los cinturones de seguridad luego del cambio de pilotos. Así, el podio quedó conformado por Rosberg X Racing, X44 en segunda posición y Andretti United tercero.

La acción del domingo comenzó con la Semi Final 1, donde Rosberg X Racing se llevó una cómoda victoria. Luchando por el segundo puesto, Laia Sanz y Sara Price tuvieron contacto, lo que dañó la suspensión trasera del prototipo de Price y Chip Ganassi Racing, clasificando a Laia, Carlos Sainz y Acciona Sainz a la Final junto con Rosberg.

Luego se vino la Semi Final 2, donde la victoria fue cómoda para X44 con sólido esfuerzo de Cristina Gutiérrez y Sebastien Loeb pese a problemas de potencia seguido de ABT Cupra con Nasser Al-Attiyah y Jutta Kleinschmidt, que resistieron los ataques de Emma Gilmour y Tanner Foust de McLaren. Así, X44 y ABT Cupra pasaban a la Final.

Para definir el último puesto para la Final, se corrió la Crazy Race, en la cual Catie Munnings de Andretti United tuvo una brillante salida para quedar primera seguida de Lance Woolridge de Veloce. Después de intentar el sobrepaso en varias oportunidades, Woolridge igualó a Munnings en la recta camino al cambio de pilotos, pero los autos hicieron contacto y el auto de Veloce terminó haciendo un trompo quedando detrás del de JBXE con Hedda Hosas. Así el duelo quedaba entre Timmy Hansen de Andretti United y su hermano Kevin Hansen por el JBXE pero Kevin cometió un error e hizo un trompo, permitiendo que Andretti United ganara el último cupo a la Final.

En la Final, ABT Cupra aprovechó los votos del Grid Play para ponerse en la mejor posición de salida y ganar la largada con Nasser Al-Attiyah. El qatarí tuvo una inspirada vuelta, resistiendo los embates de Johan Kristoffersson del equipo de Rosberg y Sebastien Loeb del X44. Todo quedaría en nada, ya que en el cambio de pilotos Jutta Kleinschmidt no pudo ponerse bien los cinturones de seguridad y pese a salir en el liderato, se sabía que sería descalificada. Aun así, Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky arriesgó y la adelantó en una zona de paso por agua, ganando en pista para el Rosberg X Racing. Jutta cruzaba la meta segunda pero fuera de carrera, con lo que el X44 pasaba al segundo puesto con Cristina Gutiérrez y Sebastien Loeb y tercero quedaba el Andretti United con Catie Munnings y Timmy Hansen. El Acciona Sainz terminó cuarto pese a abandonar en la primera vuelta.

Con los resultados, Rosberg X Racing tiene un liderato de 37 puntos con 60 en juego, luego podrían asegurar fácilmente el título en la próxima ronda en Chile...

Reigning world champion team Red Bull used the "free" weekend between the British and the Hungarian Grands Prix to conquer the streets of Madrid to showcase two of their previous title-winning F1 machines. Sergio Perez was behind the wheel of the RB7 and RB8, driving around several of Madrid's famous landmarks. Running two of Sebastian Vettel's championship winning cars, the showrun ended with the Mexican pulling out donuts in front of the famous Cibeles Fountain, as over 85,000 fans attended the event. Madrid is the fifth city in which Perez drove previous Red Bull cars in a showun. In 2021, he burnt rubber in the streets of Mexico City while last year saw the Mexican drive in his hometown of Guadalajara. He’s also taken to the tarmac of Milton Keynes, home to Red Bull and Dallas, Texas. Commenting on his day, Perez said: “It was amazing to see the crowd here today and how passionate the people of Madrid are about Oracle Red Bull Racing and Formula One. People are super happy to see us, we are the only team who can make events like this possible, only Red Bull can shut down the busiest streets of Spain’s capital city on a Saturday night! Not many people know but Madrid is a second home to me, the vibe here is very unique and special, although I am not at home, I really feel like I am here. Carlos Sainz y Lucas Cruz ganan el Dakar 2024 y ya son tetracampeones. Victoria a lo grande en Arabia Saudí ENRIQUE NARANJO Yanbul Carlos Sainz y Lucas Cruz son los ganadores del Rally Dakar 2024 en la categoría de coches. El madrileño y el catalán pasaron sin problemas el trámite de la última etapa y recibirán esta noche (a partir de las 19:00 horas en España) su cuarto trofeo de campeones del rally más duro del mundo. La pareja española completó sin incidencias la etapa final, un bucle alrededor de Yanbu con 175 kilómetros de especial, y cerraron así el capítulo de Audi en el Dakar con un triunfo histórico. Porque, además de la cuarta corona de Carlos Sainz (que le iguala con Ari Vatanen y le sitúa en el podio de los pilotos con más victorias, tras Peterhansel y Al-Attiyah) supone también el primer triunfo de un coche con propulsión híbrida (gasolina y eléctrico) en la historia de la prueba. Sainz disponía de una hora y 26 minutos sobre De Mevius, por lo que sólo una fatalidad (que no se dio) podía apartarlo del triunfo. Campeón con 61 años Sainz y Cruz han logrado juntos todos sus éxitos en el Dakar, desde el primer triunfo (con Volkswagen en 2010, aún en África) hasta el que han certificado hoy con Audi. Pasando por el de 2018 con Peugeot y el de 2020 con Mini. De hecho, Sainz se convierte en el segundo piloto de coches, después de Peterhansel, que ha logrado conquistarlo con cuatro marcas diferentes. Además, a sus 61 años camino de 62 bate su propio registro como el piloto de coches más veterano en conseguir la victoria (el récord absoluto lo tiene Josef Machacek, ganador de la categoría de prototipos ligeros en 2021... con 63 años). Sainz-Cruz: un Dakar sin fallo Para ganar el Dakar en los últimos años es necesario hacerlo prácticamente perfecto... y así lo han ejecutado los dos españoles, que ni siquiera han necesitado ganar una etapa para conquistar la carrera más dura del mundo. Eso sí... Sainz no ha aumentado su cuenta de victorias de etapa en el Dakar, pero no le ha hecho falta. Es algo extraño en el Dakar ya que solo tres ganadores antes que el madrileño hicieron lo mismo: los hermanos Marreau en 1982, Jutta Kleinschmidt (2001) y Peterhansel en 2007. Copper X-Prix: Klara Andersson debutará en la Extreme E como reemplazante de Jutta Kleinschmidt en el ABT Cupra

La piloto sueca Klara Andersson tendrá la oportunidad de debutar en la Extreme E como piloto reemplazante en el ABT Cupra debido a que Jutta Kleinschmidt no estará presente en la parrilla este día sábado. La categoría anunció el cambio de pilotos hoy por la mañana luego de que se considerara que era mejor seguir observando a Jutta luego de su fuerte impacto en la práctica libre 2 de ayer por la tarde.

Klara Andersson viene de ser la primera mujer en lograr un podio en el Mundial de RallyCross FIA en Portugal hace apenas una semana luego llega en un gran momento en su carrera deportiva. La piloto de 21 años tiene experiencia principalmente en categorías de RallyCross nórdicas y el Mundial de RallyCross FIA desde esta temporada. 

“Competir por ABT CUPRA XE este fin de semana fue una sorpresa inesperada para mí el viernes por la noche. Si bien le deseo a Jutta todo lo mejor y una pronta recuperación, estoy emocionado de competir en Extreme E ahora” comentó Klara Andersson. “Nasser y el equipo me dieron una muy cálida bienvenida y un curso rápido del auto, las regulaciones y todos los procedimientos. Por supuesto, pasar directamente a la clasificación es algo difícil, pero disfruto este desafío y haré todo lo posible para que sea bueno para todos nosotros”.

Klara compartirá el ABT Cupra con Nasser Al-Attiyah. Recordemos que Klara originalmente iba a ocupar la butaca del Xite Energy Racing pero el COVID cambió los planes en Arabia Saudita.

La primera clasificación comienza a las 9 AM.
