Hunted
Pairing: Liam Dunbar x reader
Warnings: Swearing
Chapter: 6.03
You feel like you're experiencing a real-life nightmare as you watch the front door handle start to turn. Your eyes glow yellow as your claws extend, ready to attack the intruder. Finally, the door slowly opens.
“Uncle Chris?”
“Hey kid.”
You let out a sigh of relief. “You could have called or texted.”
He just laughs and brings you in for a hug, asking, “What’s been going on?”
“Have you ever heard of ghost rides?” you cut yourself off when you hear a vibrating noise coming from one of the drawers in the living room. “Sorry,” you rush over to the drawer and pull out the old-fashioned mobile and answer it with a smile, “hi dad.”
Your uncle Chris watches happily as you talk to Derek; he was glad you finally had a healthy relationship with a parent. The Argent family was extremely toxic, which is why he was happy you had someone so fiercely protective to always look out for you.
You filled Derek in on the situation about the wild hunt coming to Beacon Hills, and he tells you he’ll be back in town within a couple of days, and you can’t help the smile that grows on your face.
“Good news for them?” Your uncle asks when Derek hangs up.
“Yeah, my dad’s coming back to town.”
Your uncle Chris sits down at the table and looks up at you with a strange expression on his face. He tilts his head back and asks, “Is there anything else you want to discuss? You can tell me anything.”
Your mouth suddenly goes dry. “Uh, no, nothing. Well aside from the whole ghost rider thing.” You sit down across from him and ask, “What do you know about them?”
Looking slightly disappointed, your uncle Chris begins to tell you everything he knows about them and the wolf hunt.
“Oh shit, this is getting way out of hand.”
Although the school day had gone by quickly, you knew this was going to be a long night. Malia, Scott, and Lydia were breaking into a care home to talk to the sheriff's dad, and Liam had accidentally thrown the party of the year in Scott’s house.
Liam scratches roughly at the back of his head, something he did while stressed. “How mad do you think he’ll be?”
“He’s going to kill you,” Hayden answers bluntly. You shoot her a look, causing her to shrug. “What? It's the truth.”
You ignore her statement, looking over at the girl you’re supposed to be protecting, Gwen. Her sister was taken by the ghost riders, and she was the only one who remembered her. “Is she still asking about her?”
Hayden nods. “I’m going to go check on her.”
The brunette quickly disappears into the sea of bodies crammed into Scott’s house, which now looks more like a nightclub with only strobe lights on and music blasting from the DJ booth.
Corey, watches confused. “I don’t understand; Lu basically lives by herself; why couldn’t we throw the party there?”
You laugh at his question. Mason raises his brow in disbelief. “Because her father is Derek Hale, he’d literally kill Liam if he threw a party in his house.”
Sensing Liam tensing beside you, you turn and cup his face, pressing your lips against his. He looks at you in surprise and then kisses you back. You melt into touch as his fingers grip your hips and his soft lips mesh with yours. You pull away from him when someone nudges you in the back with their elbow; you turn and glare at Nathan. a jackass lacrosse player who was meant to be throwing a house party that night but canceled it when most people decided to go to the McCall’s instead. Nathan’s real issue was when the coach announced both of them were up for team captain.
You could sense Liam becoming stressed out again, so you forced him to look at you and say, “Hey, it will be alright. We can clean up before Melissa comes home, and Nathan will just need to get over it as well.”
“Yeah, you're right—” he tilts his head up to look at the ceiling, “that thunder is getting really loud.”
“It sounded as if something hit the roof.”
Your attention is drawn away when Gwen runs down the stairs screaming, with Hayden following closely behind her and looking confused. “Help! Help! I saw one!”
“Saw what?” You ask, following after her.
Gwen stops running and points to a corner of the room and asks, “Do you see him?”
“Gwen, nobody is there,” you look back over your shoulder at Liam and Mason, hoping one of them would know what to do.
Corey had camouflaged himself to be able to see what was in the house. “Liam, it’s a ghost rider!”
“Where?”
“Heading into the kitchen.”
Liam reaches out and grabs onto something that turns out to be a ghost rider's arm, which makes two of them viable. Shit. Everyone begins to panic, and the house is filled with screams. “Everybody out!”
With the crowd shoving by you to get out, you end up in the kitchen along with Mason, Hayden, and Gwen. When a ghost rider tries to come into the kitchen, Mason grabs onto the jar of mountain ash and pours it onto the barrier between the living room and kitchen, stopping the rider from getting through. You take a step back when the rider starts lashing his whip against the invisible wall, saying, “Guys, what do we do? He’s going to get through!”
Liam grabs a lamp and slams it onto the back of the Ghost Rider's head, causing it to break into several pieces, but the Ghost Rider doesn’t flinch. You let out a loud gasp when Liam slammed into the wall. Corey tried to help him but was overpowered as well. You grab hold of Mason's wrist and say, “I need to help him.”
“How? You can’t get through.”
You look around, trying to think of anything that might help; your eyes land on the kitchen door. “I can go out the back door and come in the front.” You rush out the door but quickly freeze on the spot when you come face to face with another ghost rider. You stumble back inside and slam the door shut, locking it even though you doubted it would keep the rider out. “There’s another one coming through the back!”
The barrier between the living room and kitchen breaks, and the rider wraps his whip around Gwen's leg, causing her to fall to the floor. You grab Gwen’s hand as she screams out in fear. You, Hayden, and Mason struggle to hold Gwen back and end up in a tug of war with the ghost rider for her.
Parrish forms through the front door, aiming his gun at the ghost rider, “Get down, now!”
You all duck out of the way as Parrish shoots the Ghost Rider in the back a few times, but the bullets bounce and don’t physically injure the rider, but they do cause it to let Gwen go.
While Parrish and the Ghost Rider stare at each other, you shuffle over to Liam, who is still recovering from being thrown against the wall. A strong gust of wind blows through the room, sending hundreds of dead leaves swirling in a circle. The riders vanish with the wind.
“Is everyone okay?”
“No,” Gwen sobs. “Nothing about this is okay.”
You unfasten the seat belt and look towards a freaked-out-looking Mason; you feel for him. You had overheard him tell Hayden that he was frustrated that he was unable to protect Corey the same way a werewolf could. You insisted on going with him while he dropped Gwen and your other friends home. “Thanks for dropping me back off here; are you going to be okay?”
“I’ll be fine; I’m just worried about Corey,” he sighs. “So, do you think Liam is dead?”
You stifle a laugh. Scott had turned up just as the cleaning in his house started. Even though your alpha was pissed, you were far more worried about how Melissa would react if she returned home to a mess. “I can feel Liam’s heart beating from out here; he’s still with us.”
“When is Derek getting here?”
“I’m not sure; I might actually call him again.” You open the passenger door to get out. “Who knows, he might have some words of wisdom on how to stop Scott from being so mad at us.”
Mason waves before driving off home. Once he’s left the street, you try to call Derek again, and eventually he answers. “Hello?”
“Hey-”
“Who’s this?”
You were confused by the unsure tone in his voice. “Dad, what’s going on?”
“Dad? I think you’ve got the wrong number.”
You stare at your phone in disbelief as the line goes dead. What just happened? You try to call him back, but a voice on the other end tells you the number no longer exists. Dread starts to sink deep into you. You almost jump when your phone starts to ring again.
“Dad?”
“Lu, I don’t have long, so I need you to listen to me carefully. Kate has managed to track me down in an attempt to find you.”
“Find me?”
He lets out a deep sigh. “Me and your uncle Chris convinced her you’d gone back to a private school, but someone has told her you never went back.
“What does she want with me?”
Sensing a presence behind you, you turn back to face Liam, who looks more worried than when the ghost riders crashed the party.
“I don’t know,” Derek admits. “But I’ll do my best to lure her away, but until I get into town, can you stay with a friend? I don’t want you to be on your own.”
“Yeah, she can stay with me.”
You squeeze his hand, silently thanking him. If the dread doctors didn’t scare you, Kate possibly coming to Beacon Hills definitely did.

Liam wants to tell Stiles about the grin he and Theo shared in the police car: one for both, just like their chances of surviving the Hunt. Genuine, boyish, sparkling with amusement, because the whole situation was horrid and hilarious and they giggled like little kids for five minutes straight while driving to the hospital. He wants to tell Stiles about fighting next to Theo, about the connection of it lurking in the shadows of Liam’s mind—very present and heavy even now, when it’s all gone and done.
He wants to say, He is so human it hurts him. He wants to say, He is scared, you haven’t seen his face in the morgue, but I did, and he was scared, and I said that he deserved whatever happened to him, but I’m not sure what it was, and it is eating me alive, because I’ve never seen Theo so fragile and vulnerable, and did he really deserve it or am I being unnecessary cruel? He wants to say, Theo didn’t just save my life like I told you. He was terrified of going back to Hell, believed that he would if he died, yet dragged me into an elevator and helped me escape by sacrificing himself, and I still haven’t thanked him. I don’t know if I ever will. I feel a pull I have never felt in my entire life, and I’m positive that I want him, and it’s wrong and twisted and I am a horrible human being, but Theo is the knife that turns inside me and I have to, but don’t want to stop bleeding.
Liam thinks about Hayden, and how he still believes that she is it for him, and feels like he might burst if he opens his mouth. He is guilty of many things, but he won’t be guilty of this. Theo is his responsibility, nothing else. Liam will make sure of it, and nobody will ever know that for a weak, flash-like second, Liam wanted to put his lips on that cruel mouth just to make sure Theo didn’t taste like death.

Hunted
Pairing: Liam Dunbar x reader
Warnings: Violence, swearing
Chapter: 6.02
𝙵𝚛𝚘𝚖 𝙼𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚊:
𝙷𝚎𝚢, 𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚏𝚎𝚎𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚋𝚎𝚝𝚝𝚎𝚛?
Not knowing how to reply to your cousin without placing your phone back down, you’d think of a good lie later. You weren’t particularly close to Malia, but she had sensed something was wrong earlier in the day and wouldn’t stop asking how you were. Her asking wasn’t a problem, but the fact that you couldn’t remember becoming friends with her was.
There was a massive hole in your memory when it came to her, and it was stressing you out.
Sighing, you look down at your study notes and decide to give up. A voice inside your head was nagging at you, telling you you’d forgotten something important, but you couldn’t put your finger on it.
As you pack up your belongings, you catch a glimpse of your reflection in a glass cabinet and freeze up. As memories of the night you were turned upside down flash before your eyes, you calm down. Feeling as if the air is being sucked from your lungs, you make your way quickly down the hall and out the school door.
“Hi Lulana,” a shy voice says.
“Hey Corey, where’s Mason?”
“He forgot his phone and went back inside. Are you okay?” He asks. “You're really flushed in the face.”
“I’m fine,” you fake a smile. “I'm just really tired, and it’s making me feel on edge. Do you want me to wait with you?”
“Yeah, sure,” he smiles. Even though Liam didn’t trust Corey, you didn’t mind him; you understood how easy it was for him to be manipulated by Theo, plus he really seemed to care for Mason.
“Do you feel that?” he asks quietly.
“Feel what?”
Corey walks towards the glass doors and looks into the school before stepping inside, wanting to see what he was talking about; you followed. Soon as you stepped inside, you felt overcome with dread; something bad was about to happen. When heavy breathing and footsteps echoed down the hallway, Corey grabbed hold of your wrist and pulled you to stand against the wall beside him. Everything turned green as he turned you invisible.
You clasped your hand over your mouth to muffle any sounds you might make as a man who perfectly fit the description of a ghost rider walked down the hall. No fucking way. Your heart rattled in your chest as the ghost rider seemingly didn’t take notice of you or Corey. He sends a text to Mason, telling him not to move while you text Liam, who’s practicing lacrosse on the field outside.
You knew why the riders scared you more than anything you’d ever seen.
Another ghost rider appears at the door leading out into the courtyard, and both riders exit it. You turn to Corey and whisper, “What do we do?”
“We follow them.”
Frozen in fear, you watch as the ghost riders strangle a boy with their whips inside the library. Your trance is only broken when Mason steps into the library. His mouth was agape as he watched a boy from your school choke as he floated in the air.
You let go of Corey’s hand as he reaches for Mason and tosses a book at one of the riders, hoping it would loosen the boy's grip. But it does nothing. You extended your claws, planning on charging the rider despite being petrified, but you didn’t get very far as Corey grabbed you again, making you invisible. You look up just as the boy vanishes into smoke.
The two riders jump from the floor above, and one of them looks directly at you, causing you to scream, “Liam!”
“Lu!” Liam cups your face in his hands as you regain your composure after sobbing. He looks over at his friend and asks, “What happened?”
You manage to blurt out, “They were here.”
“The ghost riders,” Mason confirms.
“I thought they left when the storm left.”
You grip your boyfriend's arm tightly, trying to find comfort. Something about this felt wrong; something was missing, and the feeling was causing a fear that you’d never felt before. “They couldn’t have, because two of them were right up there.”
Worried Scott asks, “What were they doing?”
Mason looks ahead blankly. “Uh, nothing, I don’t think.”
“They must have done something, otherwise Lu would be so upset,” Liam pointed out.
All four of them turned to you, waiting for an answer that you couldn’t give them. Using the end of your jumper, you dry your cheeks and quickly say, “I don’t remember what they did. We only saw them when we turned invisible.”
Liam glares at Corey. “You brought them into this?”
You place your hand on his chest, hoping to calm him down. “He was trying to protect us.”
“They didn’t seem to care about me and Lulana; they walked right by us in the school,” Corey says nervously. “I don’t think they noticed us here.”
“Then what?”
Mason smacks his lips together and says, “They just jumped down and left.”
“That’s it?” Liam says I sound unconvinced.Lulana wouldn’t have screamed like that for nothing. She sounded terrified.”
Subtly, Scott places his hand on your shoulder, taking away some of your fear while asking, “They didn’t take anyone? There was nobody else here.”
“No, it was just us.”
You stare at the empty kitchen chair across from you, trying to think who the last person who sat in it was. You and your dad, Derek, hated cooking and usually ate out instead, while you and Liam ate most meals in bed or while sitting on the couch watching TV.
But someone sat there; someone gave you the normal feeling of a family meal at one point.
Kira? Malia? Lydia? Scott? Mason? You ran a list of all their names through your head, but none of them seemed to fit.
Kira left town a while ago. Mason usually came with Liam, and with the other girls in your pack being older, you weren’t close enough that you spent much one-on-one time with them. You had vivid memories of Scott coming over for dinner, but it seemed weird that it would just be the two of you.
You look from the chair to the fridge and at the note you had stuck to it with a magnet. 𝒜𝓇𝑔𝑒𝓃𝓉 𝐻𝒶𝓁𝑒. How did someone know about that? You woke up the morning before with those words written on your hand, but you couldn’t remember who wrote them. So you wrote it down so you wouldn’t forget.
Unable to sleep and frustrated by the same feelings you had earlier, you decided to make a list of things that didn’t make sense to you. Careful not to make any noise and wake Liam, who was sound asleep in your bed, you open a drawer and pull out a pen and paper. Making your way back to the kitchen table, you glance at the clock on the wall and grimace seeing it was only one o’clock in the morning.
Puffing your cheeks out, you start to write down a timeline of all the things that have happened since you moved to Beacon Hills.
“Oh my god, what is all this?” Liam's harsh voice wakes you up; you’d fallen asleep leaning against the table. “Did you stay out here all night?”
“It’s seven in the morning,” he lets out a deep sigh, glancing at the table covered in lays of paper. “Lu, you can’t keep fighting sleep; you're going to make yourself ill.”
“I know, I know.”
He wraps his arms around your shoulders, kissing the back of your sweaty head. “Is this about the ghost riders?”
“I don’t know. I just feel like I’ve lost something, but I don’t know what it is. It's like it’s clawing inside my brain to get to the surface, but no matter how hard I try, I’m drawing blanks.”
“Do you want to skip today? I can stay with you.”
“No, you’ve got lacrosse tryouts,” you say, looking up at him. “And you're going to make me team captain.”
He gives you a doubtful look and says, “Honestly, I don’t want to be captain. I just want things to stay the same as they are now.”
“Oh Liam,” you stand up and kiss his cheek. “Whatever happens today, I’m proud of you.”
“Are you going to stay off? I’m not gonna lie, you look like you could do with some sleep. You've got crazy eyes.”
You laugh at his comment before nodding. “I’ll stay off today. Will you cover for me?”
“Always.”
You scurry into school like a woman possessed, looking for your alpha. Luckily, you only needed to turn up two hallways before you found him. “Scott!”
He looks concerned as you stride towards him. “What’s wrong? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Hearing the word “ghost,” the hairs on your arm stand up, spreading goosebumps across your body. “I’ve figured it out; I’ve figured out what I forgot.”
He looks at you like you're insane, then you remember you haven’t actually spoken to him since the night in the library. Spotting an empty classroom, you walk towards it and say, “Come on, I'll show you.”
As soon as Scott enters the room, you enter with what looks like a small file of documents, but it’s actually the result of your all-nighter. “Okay, so we have the traffic light system for this,” you hold up a piece of paper for him to look at. “Green is for things I remember clearly; yellow is for things I know about but didn’t witness; and red is for the gaps in my memory.”
He has a quick shuffle through some pages; “most of it is red.”
“Yes, I know.”
“Like, really, I think you only have two things highlighted in green.”
“I’m aware, but hear me out. I know the majority of things that happened in the present once I moved to town, but I don’t know a lot of what happened before I got here.”
Scott looks lost in thought trying to decode what you just said, “That’s because you didn’t live in town then. How much sleep have you had? Liam told me you never went to bed.”
You ignore his questions. “I went through all the letters Allison sent me, and they don’t add up. Lydia was her best friend, and you were her boyfriend, but the three of you wouldn’t just hang out alone. That would be so weird, plus Lydia wouldn’t settle for being a third wheel.”
“Okay…” Scott leans back onto one of the tables; the mention of your cousin has gotten his attention.
“The Kanima, the alpha pack, the human sacrifices, the Nogitsune, Peter being the alpha that bit and turned you—you couldn’t have gone through all of it alone. Allison said your pack didn’t fully come together until after the whole Lydia’s boyfriend being Kanima thing, but before that you must have had someone by your side.”
“Lu…”
“When I didn’t know who my father was, someone helped me figure it out.” You point to another part highlighted in red. “Theo’s plan doesn’t make sense; he wanted to turn us against you, but something is missing. I know this sounds crazy, but I feel like a massive part of me is missing.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“I think someone from our pack was taken.”
Scott scratches at his chin and says, “Lu, I think you need to go home and get some rest. I'm worried that the stress of Derek being gone and the ghost riders is getting to you.”
He doesn’t believe you.
Hearing a knock at the door, you call out, “It’s open.”
You pause the film you're watching and turn, expecting to see Liam come into your dad's home, but instead it’s Scott. He looks slightly sheepish and says, “I think you're right. I think I had a best friend.”
“Yeah?”
You move over on the couch to give Scott space to sit; he looks taken aback. Running his fingers through his hair, he shakes his head. “I’m sorry I didn’t listen earlier; I just didn’t want to believe someone from my pack could go missing and I wouldn’t notice.”
“That’s what the ghost riders do; they make us forget.”
Scott opens his mouth to say something but is cut off by Liam loudly entering the room and saying, “You guys will never believe what we found.”
He jumps over the back of the couch and lands beside you; he pulls a library card out of his pocket. “Jake Sullivan, he was in our Spanish class.”
You let out a loud gasp when you remember him hanging in the library. “That’s who the dread doctors took; they were strangling him, and then he vanished into smoke. How did you find it?”
“Corey helped me.”
You squeezed his hand, and you were proud of him for trying to make peace with Corey despite distrusting him. The three of you spent the next few hours trying to figure out the best way to figure out who the ghost riders' next victim was.

A Bout of Insanity (Theo/Liam)
“Why the hell did you do that?”
Theo scoffed. “I'm wondering the same thing. Guess I must've hit my head one too many times, all the concussions finally caught up with me.”
“Stop being a dick, this is not funny.”
“Says the kid without blood in his mouth.” Theo spat on the ground. “You didn't like it, fine, but did you have to punch me? It's a three-hour drive back to Beacon Hills, and my shirt is ruined.”
“Well, what did you expect was gonna happen?”
Theo had no idea. He hadn't planned that far ahead before leaning in and pressing his mouth over Liam's while he was still mid-laugh. Lips on teeth. So romantic.
Or, Theo kisses Liam and has to explain why.

Love is a Twisted Dance of Shadows
"Trying to hide from me?” Theo sits down, pulling Liam’s chair out and gently pulling him back into the seat, noticing that he’s trying to stand up to hold his ground, but Theo prevents him from ignoring him any longer.
His hand moves to Liam’s back, sliding down to the edge of his seat, tactfully holding his hand close to Liam.
“You’re hard to hide from.” He admits, holding his breath, captivated by Theo’s possessive nature.
“You tried hiding earlier but that’s okay. I like finding you. It’s more fun when I catch you.” Theo whispers with a lust-fueled smile, and Liam’s not sure what to say or do, but he’s caught up in the surge of excitement tingling down his spine.
