January Reading Wrap Up

I read at least a couple pages every day in January!

Stand Out Books from January My Happy Marriage by Akumi Agitogi, Rito Kohsaka I read the manga version of this (it's what my library has) and it just hits all the things I love in a fantasy romance. This is soft and sweet and about people growing and learning to feel safe with each other.

The Blighted Stars by Megan E. O'Keefe Continuing my "apparently I like sci-fi?" run, this is a fascinating world, but the characters really shine through, exploring what it's like to try to change the system from both within and without.

What I'm Reading Now I'm finishing up Lonely Castle in the Mirror by Mizuki Tusjimura for a reading challenge. It's a bit more middle-grade than I expected and I can't tell if that's the book or the translation. I'm also most of the way done with the sequel to The Blighted Stars, The Fractured Dark. I'm at that point where things are mostly happy, but I can see the narrative arc heading toward the low point at the end of book 2, and book 3 isn't out yet, so I'm struggling to convince myself to finish it.

What I'm Looking Forward to in February I'm about to finish up the manga series, The Demon Prince of Momochi House, so I'm excited to choose a new manga series to work through. I've got a graphic novel on hold called The House Witch that looks interesting. Otherwise I'm mostly working through some series, Chronicles of Elantra, the Flavia Albia mysteries, and the SPI Files. There's a new T. Kingfisher book out this month, a sequel to What Moves the Dead, and I'm always excited about those!

Reading Challenges I'm running a little behind on the Read Harder Challenge, but I'm hoping to catch up this month. Lonely Castle in the Mirror will count for 8. A book in translation from a country you've never visited, and I'm hoping The House Witch will count for 1. A cozy fantasy book. That still leaves me one behind, but I haven't decided what else to pick up this month.
