Past Best Forgotten

“Hi Seiya.”

He froze when he heard that voice. He swallowed heavily before slowly turning to face the woman who had ripped out his heart and torn it to shreds. As he was turning he prayed that he was wrong, that it was another woman with a voice just like hers. Because he wasn’t sure he could handle seeing her. Especially not seeing her acting as if she hadn’t utterly destroyed him.

Of course it was her. Looking just as good as she always had. Sanada felt like he had been punched in the gut. He schooled his expression hoping it conveyed the appropriate level of disdain and none of the longing that he felt every time he thought of her.

“Kana,” He said shortly. Sanada flinched back when she made a move to hug him, his head quickly shaking no. Her lip jutted out in that familiar pout that she always used to get her way and he found himself capitulating and pulling her into his arms. He hated how good it felt to wrap her in his arms. How perfectly she fit against him and how damn good she smelled. That perfume that haunted him. He couldn’t even look at a woman wearing it.

Realizing he was holding onto her way too long Sanada quickly stepped back, looking around desperately for one of his brothers to appear and rescue him. It would figure now they would all be missing in action.

“How are you Seiya?” Kana asked with a smile as she watched his reaction to her. He still wanted her. He was hiding it well but she knew him better than that. Despite finding her with another man in their bed he still wanted her. Even knowing she had carried on an affair for months, used his money to fund her lover he still wanted her. It gave her a sick satisfaction that she had that kind of hold over him. He looked good. Of course he always did. It was chance that she had run into him at the airport of all places. Really it was perfect timing. Her latest relationship had just crashed and burned so she was looking for someone new. Handsome and filthy rich Seiya Sanada was the perfect rebound. She could latch onto him for a few months until she found someone new.

“Fine.” He said shortly, his hands digging into his pockets as he reminded himself that she was a gold digging whore. The reason he had nothing to give to any other woman.

“Are you in a hurry?” Kana asked stepping up to him and running her finger along his chest, giving him that smile that always melted him. “We should go grab drink. Catch up a bit.”

“I don’t think there’s anything to catch up on.” Sanada said shortly trying to ignore how good her touch felt.

“You’re not still mad about that little thing are you?” She asked pouting out her lip.

“Little thing?” Sanada asked with a disbelieving snort. “You mean fucking that prick in my fucking bed? You mean spending my money on your lover? That little thing?”

“I made a mistake baby,” Kana said softly. “I lost the best thing that ever happened to me. We were so good together. You remember all those nights in the hot tub?” Her hands trailed down his body, resting at his belt. “How we would make love until the sun came up?” Sanada’s eyes drifting closed, images of just that running through his mind. He had the hardest time using a hot tub anymore without getting flashbacks of those nights. Her riding him as the water sloshed around them. Falling asleep completely exhausted on the lounge chairs, too tired to even make it inside.

“Did you fuck him in my Jacuzzi too?” Sanada asked trying to get himself back on solid ground of despising her very existence.

“Seiyaaa,” Kana whined. “Don’t be mean.”

“I’m sorry.” He found himself saying, wondering why he was apologizing to her. He hadn’t done anything wrong.

“Maybe I’ll let you make it up to me.” Kana said smiling flirtatiously. “We were so good together weren’t we? We fit together perfectly. I still remember how good you feel inside me. I’ve missed you. Do you miss me?”

Sanada swallowed back the immediate confirmation that sprung to his lips. He couldn’t let himself fall into this trap again. She was the same manipulative woman she had always been. He had been too blind to see it when they had been together, but he knew it was true. The last thing he needed was to let himself get dragged back in. Especially when he was still hung up on her. It wouldn’t take much for him to be head over heels for her again.

He groaned when she stood on her tiptoes and kissed his neck, her tongue licking over the spot she knew drove him insane, grinning against his neck as his hands locked on her hips and pulled her close. She felt the effect she was having on him pressing into her stomach as he dragged her mouth to his.

The clearing of a throat tore Sanada’s attention from her, pulling back to see Evil and Hiromu standing behind Kana with amused grins.

“I see you found a friend,” Hiromu said licking his lips as he looked over the woman in his brother’s arms and flashing her a grin that had Kana feeling a bit weak in the knees. She started to think of the possibilities if these were friends of Seiya’s. “You gonna share?”

Kana’s eyes widened a bit at that question looking up at Sanada who seemed to find it a perfectly reasonable request making her wonder just what her ex-boyfriend had been up to in her absence.

“Not her.” Sanada said shaking his head and pulling her tighter to him. Evil’s eyes narrowed as he looked between them. He hadn’t missed the way she looked at Hiromu, nor the lovesick expression in his friend’s eyes.

“Who are you?” Evil asked bluntly.

“Evil, Hiromu this is Kana.” Sanada said. The immediate reaction told Kana these two men knew exactly who she was. The friendly grin on Hiromu’s face falling into a glare. Kana yelped when Evil grabbed her arm and yanked her out of Sanada’s.

“Get the fuck away from him.” Evil snapped pushing her back and stepping between her and Sanada as Hiromu protectively pulled Sanada to his side.

“Evil,” Sanada started.

“Shut up Sanada,” Evil snapped. “I’m just doing what you don’t seem capable of.”

Evil grabbed Kana’s arm again and dragged her down the terminal as Hiromu kept a hold on Sanada, reminding him of exactly how bad Kana had destroyed him. She had been around before Sanada joined LIJ, but they had all seen the aftermath of what she had done to him. The reason he was a complete and total asshole to women and seemed incapable of love towards any woman. They weren’t about to let him get sucked back into her trap.

Just because he was blind to it didn’t mean they couldn’t see the manipulative light in her eyes. It wasn’t gonna happen. Not on their watch.

Eyyy it’s time for another translation post, post-finale! I’m gonna wait on the Muscle Galaxy thing since it’s not gonna be coming out for a while and I can combine it with the new Rider’s gadget. For now, let’s take a look at Rogue’s new form in the Hyper Battle Video special. It’s an interesting one.

The photos, transformation phrase all come from Bandai’s Rider site, which is good since I expected this to be hard to translate otherwise.

"The late-blooming justice, Prime Rogue! Dorya-Dorya-Dorya-Dorya-Doryaaa! (大義晩成！プライムローグ！ドリャドリャドリャドリャドリャーッ！ / Taikibansei, Puraimu Rōgu! Dorya-Dorya-Dorya-Dorya-Doryā!)

So this is a crazy pun, and thankfully Bandai provides context. Lemme just paraphrase what they said.

They referenced a line that Gentoku one said, "Become a sacrifice for the cause", which involves the kanji 大義 (Taigi / Cause, or justice). Then they also considered he was (as they put it) a man who crawls back from hell, the prime minister's son who aims to one day exceed his father. This involved the term 大器晩成 (Taikibansei) which I guess refers to the idea of great talents maturing late. "Since it takes time to complete large vessels, it is too late to truly become a great person." Damn, that's deep, and fitting.

So they combined those kanji for justice with the latter two kanji of that term, coining the kanji combination that translates to "Late-blooming justice". Oh, and the "Dorya!" shouts are just a general attack sound, like OOO's SEIYAAA. That sorta thing.
