Re: Enter's Nails

I don't know if they ever talked about it in terms of the story itself specifically but Jinnai Sho, Renter's Actor, was growing out his real nails into those claws for the role. Like his hair, you can see them growing out over the weeks. And you can read whatever story meaning you want into that.

They change abruptly mid season because his agency made him cut them. Those were his real nails so he was living with them all the time. This was passed into me by friends who were contemporary fans at the time of production and not just picking up the pieces a decade later trying to figure it out. I have been shown photos of him from unrelated shoots at the time and he does have the nails, unpainted, but very noticeable by the end of you look.

Apparently someone said no honey you have to stop and from there on he has short nails again or kind of messy fake nails and they're very noticably different. This happens to coincide right about with the big mid-season shake up but it's a real life practical reason rather than a character or story choice.

So, I was very accurate in saying I was over thinking this, huh?
