triple threat
actor!eren x f!reader
you get cast in the role of your dreams
**part of my method acting fic, masterlist here
content: hange + levi being in love, hange pronouns are written as they/she, you and eren embarassing yourself, some good old cheesy childhood dreams
an: welcome to the actor-verse :DDD
-
The first time you see that speech, it changes your life. You’re six and barely understand why the situation is such a big deal. That Hange Zoe is the first person, the first queer person, ever to receive the triple threat commendation from The Savants.
The Savants run the industry. From the biggest movies to theatre plays, they hand out shiny gold awards each year to the best of the best. But the triple threat, it’s unlike any of the other awards. It’s not given out at a set time or pushed out yearly like the others.
It’s at random times - some years, there are three triple threats, and others, there are none. It’s the highest award anyone can hope and dream of winning from the industry.
A triple threat is someone recognized for their work in the big three - singing, dancing, and acting. And each of those things can be taken loosely and mean different things to different actors.
For example, Hange Zoe’s co-star and partner, Levi Ackerman, received a triple threat commendation a few years ago. Acting in a Bond movie - his most famous stunt being a skilled walk on a tightrope, which the Savants considered dancing. And with one cameo in the Phantom of the Opera on an odd night when the actor was sick, he sang for three hours and was he was sold.
He became a triple threat three hours after.
And now, Hange Zoe, one of your favorite actors, did all three in their famous film, La La Land, with the same co-star. A beautifully crafted movie - about the highs and lows of the industry, of chasing a dream, of letting go of love to pursue it.
And here they are - tears streaming down their face as they stand to take the award. When they press a kiss on Levi’s cheek and take the stage, you remember the words solidifying, forming, and building in your chest.
To anyone watching at home, in their living room in their rundown pajamas, this is a sign to never ever give up on your dreams. Because that used to be me, and it can be you too. Never let anyone stop you from becoming the triple threat you are meant to be. To let that fire run wild and true and let people see the real you.
And you decide then and there - that it’s your dream to be a triple threat. To let your fire run wild and true. To show people the real you.
July 9th is the most nerve-wracking day in the history of nerve-wracking days. What was supposed to be a regular day at the coffee shop you work at suddenly became one of the most stressful experiences of your life.
WIT Studios, one of the biggest production companies, had sent out a casting call for actors aged 15-18 for a new, multi-season show. And when you accidentally knocked the flyer off the board at your aforementioned silly cafe job, it felt like a sign.
Some part of you, years ago, knocked your dream down. And it was a cumulation of things.
That you never really got called back for casting calls. You couldn’t book simple commercials, and agents said you didn’t have that spark.
And as many interviews you could watch of your favorite actors explaining how they got into the roles and connected with characters, the stupid kibble commercials you were trying to book just didn’t do that.
And you sing in the choir at your school and dance in school plays, but that’s hardly a triple threat category. You can’t even get the position to be head of the choir - to delude yourself into thinking you’re triple-threat material is insane.
So you let it go. And many people do because it’s just like every other silly childhood dream. You decided to stick with school, plan on attending college, and work a simple job. Stream the Savants every year, watch your favorite people sob over winning awards, and then embarrassingly go in the bathroom and practice a speech you won’t ever say.
Granted, that’s humiliating, but it’s better than getting kicked down each time. Because casting actors can be rude. And the entire industry is bleak - because there are only so many times that you can get shot down before throwing the towel in, which is very fast for you.
But the flyer seems right. And there’s no harm in trying after all these years. It’s for a real show, an action drama called Attack on Titan. The casting room - it’s down the street and you can go right after work.
But now that you’re here, awkwardly fidgeting in the cream chairs, you realize you’ve made the biggest mistake. Because the actors in the room - you know them.
Some of the biggest child actors that have been acting since they were kids, flipping through the same script as you. Practicing tongue twisters, taking deep breaths.
And you’re a fraud. Because you don’t know the short of hands or how any of this works. And when that red-haired woman calls your name, a dark green clipboard in her hand, you follow her into the room with a deep lump in your throat.
It’s a small holding room filled with four people. The red-haired woman and two other men sit at one long table, papers spread across the page. There’s a black camera in the center, glaring right into your line of vision from where you’re sitting.
“It’s a chemistry screening. This is Eren. He’s going to be playing the lead in the show. We’re just looking to fill the female co-star role. Just do the scene the way it feels right to you - there’s no correct way to act in this.”
You nod, switching your chair so you’re facing Eren. And then you take him in. He has short brown hair and almost bored green eyes as he takes a swig of his water bottle, his name scribbled in messy writing over the top. You can hear the recording camera beep, trying your best to ignore the fact that you’re on camera with him right now.
You reach forward, tapping on his shoulder with your pointer finger. And he looks up, green eyes timidly looking into yours. You give him the most sincere smile you can and introduce yourself.
“I’m Y/N. It’s nice to meet you.”
“Eren. Eren Jaeger.”
Eren sticks his hand out to you, his grasp firm, as you both give each other a smile. And then you remember the lines. You stick your hand out, placing it on his shoulder as you squeeze. The action seems to take him off guard, his eyes widening as you start talking.
“We should be getting back.”
You watch the realization spread across his face as he timidly nods, rubbing his hand at the back of his neck. You guess your introduction might have thrown him off, and you should have told him you would start the scene now.
Dear god, you were already messing this up.
“What are we doing here, Y/N?”
You lean back in your chair, pressing your hands to the bridge of your nose, trying to remember the rest of the line.
“You were so deep asleep that you’re only half awake now?”
You watch Eren’s face contort into confusion and feel the embarrassment coursing through your veins. Did you remember the wrong line? Did you-
“I had a really long dream. I can’t remember what it was about or-”
And when you meet his eyes, the embarrassment dies down.
Because Eren’s crying.
There’s a soft tear running down the side of his eye, his lower lip quivering as he looks at you. And you can’t help but do it - you reach forward, pressing your hand to the side of his cheek as you wipe the tear away and ask.
“Eren. Why are you crying?”
You hear a clicking noise, and Eren leans back, wiping the rest of the tear on the back of his hand. You look back at the long table, the three adults scribbling on the papers before them.
Right. You were acting. Eren wasn’t really crying. He was just pretending to cry.
And you totally understand why he was cast as the lead because that crying was so believable that it got even you to take a second.
“We’ve seen enough. Thank you, Y/N. If you are selected, you will receive an email at the address you provided earlier.”
You give them all an awkward smile as you turn to your right, where Eren’s shuffling through the pages. You tap him on the shoulder again.
“See you later, Eren.”
“Yeah. I think so, Y/N.”
And when he breaks out into a smile, so warm with dimples showing, you can’t help but fully cheese back. And when you breeze out of the hallway, you pretend the entire thing never happened because there’s no way you’ll ever book that role, with an on-demand actor, like Eren in the first place.
You’re wrong. You’re so so wrong. You’re not sure how it happened, but you book the role. And the turnaround is so fast that you’re packing up your things to move to Germany in less than a week.
Your parents - infinitely supportive of your dreams, who were adamant you shouldn't give up on it - were driving you to the airport. And your little brother, Falco, cries softly when you sign him goodbye.
And when you’re on the plane, it all sits in that you’re moving away from home. That you’re acting. That you could… really be a triple threat. And it’s silly to say when you’re only fifteen but it feels that way.
That this could happen and that it’s real.
You skim the email they sent you again, reviewing the details you have already committed to memory. You’ve read them over a hundred times, and they still haven’t set in.
Dear Y/N,  Congratulations on being selected to play the role of Y/N L/N! We’re so excited to have you on the team. Attack on Titan shooting will occur in Nördlingen, Germany, from August to February. Please arrive on set as soon as possible - so promotional images can be taken of you and your co-star and preliminary screen tests can be filmed.  You will be living on-set with other members of the cast. Townhouses and assignments will be given upon arrival. Currently, only a small percentage of the ensemble has been cast - others will arrive as they are needed.  A large part of the ensemble will be around your age range. In the interests of your personal character development (and following some very legal laws), classes will be provided off days from set so that you are a functioning member of society and all that.  Attached is the script for the pilot. Please review your lines in the upcoming days. Congratulations, once again!  Signed,  Hange Zoe
Hange. Fucking. Zoe. As if any part of this experience couldn’t get crazier, you’re literally acting on a show with your fucking idols.
Some part of you already rues the day that this is going to end. Because you already know it’s going to be everything you wanted.
When you arrive at the townhouse, no one is there. You drag your four bags up the stairs and take note of all the names on each of the doors. It seems that more people are cast in the week it took you to get here because there are some names you don’t recognize on the assignments.
Reiner and Bertholdt
Miche and Erwin
Jean and Marco
Eren and Armin
Mikasa and Y/N
Mikasa. You remember a few of her lines from the script and from your understanding - the show is centered around you, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin. Armin and Eren’s rooms are directly across from yours and Mikasa’s, which you’re sure was on purpose.
After hauling your bags up, taking a shower, and hauling out your beloved noise-canceling headphones, you drag down to the kitchen, where you attempt to find some food.
The kitchen has very little - a few loose packets of ramen on the counter, eggs, and condiments. You settle for making ramen, one of the few meals you can successfully make (because it requires two steps), and set out.
After successfully making your dinner, you drop it the second you turn around.
Because Eren’s staring at you, a glass of water in his hand.
And you figure that your dropping the bowl startles him because he drops his glass too, and you’re both awkwardly staring at each other, rambling explanations as you yank your headphones off and take note of the glass on the floor.
“Eren! I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you were here and-”
“Y/N. Are you okay? We just got back. I didn’t mean to startle you or-”
“You shouldn’t move, Eren. There’s a bunch of glass everywhere and-”
Other footsteps cut you off, and you’ve officially entered your worst nightmare. Because not only did you just humiliate yourself in front of your co-star, but now Levi and Hange are standing in front of you - laughing at you.
Well, Levi’s smoldering, but Hange’s literally cracking up so hard that they're crying tears out of their eyes. Levi walks up to Eren while Hange takes your side, dragging you both to the sides away from the glass.
Levi’s scolding Eren as he starts cleaning the glass, both of you shamefully standing against the wall.
“Good going, Eren. If she didn’t hate you before, she totally does now.” Levi states.
You look over to find Eren blushing - his cheeks beet red and the tips of his ears burning.
“Y/N. It’s nice to meet you. I’m Hange.”
“I’m Levi. We hope you got in okay. We just took Eren to the store to get more things for the house.”
“You two should go wash your hands. We’ll make more ramen and call you when we’re done, okay?”
“Okay, Hange. I’ll show you the way, Y/N.”
You follow Eren as you both awkwardly walk to the bathroom.
“God. That was so embarrassing. I’m so sorry, Eren.”
“It’s not your fault. After you didn’t respond three times, I should have noticed they were noise canceling.”
“You were talking?”
“Ah yeah. You were singing, so I asked if you had been doing it for a while.”
When you reach the bathroom, you can’t help but put your face in your hands as if that would stop your cheeks from burning the way they were.
This is literally the worst start ever. You broke an entire bowl of food in front of Eren, and then Hange and Levi had to scold you guys like you were little kids and clean it up for you.
When you and Eren return to the table, Hange and Levi make you fresh bowls of ramen and set them out for you directly across from them. You don’t miss how their hands are locked together on the table and how… romantic it seems - even if Levi’s literally insulting Hange right now.
“I know they wrote the character to be a little dirty, but that doesn’t mean you need to start doing method acting, Hange.”
You interrupt their conversation as you and Eren slide into the chair, their faces quirking toward yours.
“Um. Do you mind me asking what method acting is, Levi? I don’t really know all of this…acting stuff.”
“That’s right. I'm sorry, Y/N.” responds Levi, pushing his bowl into the center of the table.
“Method acting is our secret. It’s how we…act so well. Not to pat ourselves on the back or anything, but we’re pretty decent.”
“Better than decent, you’re both… triple threats,” you respond, shocked at the fact that they’re downplaying something like this.
Surely they can’t be serious.
“Method acting, young Y/N, is a technique we use to connect with our characters emotionally. We already think you’re a good fit for the character you’ve been cast, but you still have to put in the work to “be” that character. Bring your own life and personality into it - even if you’re not playing you.” Hange responds.
“When Hange and I did La La Land, we played two lovers. I was a jazz artist, and she was an actress. While we were filming, Hange and I went on dates each week to get to know each other, and I wrote her songs to get into the mood of filming.”
You can hear Eren’s chopsticks clinking against his bowl as he speaks next, his voice firm.
“But you… you’re dating now. How do you know the line between fake and real?” Eren asks.
“You’ll learn quickly that trying not to love Hange is like holding your breath underwater. You just can’t.”
Hange starts pinching Levi’s cheeks and cooing over him, which Levi swats off before they respond again.
“Acting isn’t…fake, Eren. Like I said, this character - it should be all parts you, your own personality, just in this situation. And we’re not telling you to fall in love like your characters are going to but-”
“Wait. Our characters are going to fall in love?”
“Indeed they are, Y/N. The way it’s written - some part of them has always been in love. Like it’s natural that they don’t know how to do anything else, but you’re best friends for a better part of the show. The romance only really comes to fruition at the end.” Levi responds, standing up as he grabs the bowls before you.
You and Eren give each other a look as Hange peers over, smiling between the two of you.
“So if you and Levi went on dates for La La Land because you were lovers, Eren and I should… hang out to be best friends?” you ask.
Hange laughs, standing up to crush both you and Eren in a hug.
“God, you’re both so cute. I think you’ll end up being good friends anyways - you have lots of scenes together and press and all that, so-”
“No, Hange. I want us to be the best.” Eren states.
You can feel your cheeks burning - at Eren referring to the two of you as “us” - at how he wants the same thing as you, and at how Hange’s smirking at the two of you.
“God. You’re like the perfect kid for this role. Keep that energy when you film the pilot.”
You and Eren amble back up to your rooms as Hange and Levi start attending meetings, preparing for filming. They tell you that you’re filming one scene tomorrow - the one you and Eren screen tested on - and then getting fitted for costumes and harnesses for stunts.
Levi and Hange are producing the show alongside Erwin - one of the other actors on the show. They all attended SHWA together back in the day, basically the best acting academy out there, and now they’re producing and helping the writing of the show altogether.
SHWA is so elite that every single Savant acting winner has attended the academy. There has yet to be a non-SHWA-affiliated actor to win.
But even beyond acting, they’re producing and screenwriting. Just when you think they can’t get cooler, they do.
Eren knocks on your door a little past eleven, shyly peeking into your doorway.
“Hi, Eren.”
“Hi, Y/N.”
“Can we talk?”
“Sure.”
You both plop down onto your bed, staring at the silver fan swinging around on the ceiling.
“I know that, uh. Hange said we would become best friends anyways, but we should really be best friends like you said - like hanging out, trusting each other, and all that.”
“Okay, Eren. Sure.”
“I really want us to be the best, and Levi’s been saying this show is special, and we can use it to… make our dreams come true.”
You turn to your side, resting your hands against your elbow as he mimics your motions.
“Do you have a dream, Eren?”
“Promise not to tell anyone?”
“Hey. We’re best friends. There’s no one to tell but you.”
He smiles, his cheeks turning pink again as he responds, his shoulders relaxing.
“I really want to get a Savant Award for acting. Best Actor in a Lead Role. It’s been my dream since I was a kid.”
You smile, reaching over to squeeze his shoulder as you respond.
“Eren. You’re totally going to see your dream come true. You’re already so in touch with your emotions, I was floored when you started crying during the screen test.”
He’s blushing even harder at the praise, so ashamed that he’s flipped back towards the ceiling, watching the fan spin around again.
“Do you have a dream, Y/N?”
“Yeah. I, um. Want to be a triple threat.”
You whisper it into the air like a bad omen.
Because telling your parents and your little brother is one thing - some part of them has to support you regardless because you’re family.
But telling someone like Eren, someone who doesn’t know anything about you, feels like… you’re bearing your soul to him or something.
“You could totally be a triple threat. You already have experience in singing and dancing.”
“Yeah, but my school choir and plays don’t really count. Triple threats are…next level and I-”
He reaches down, locking his fingers with yours, which triggers some kind of anticipation in you because you’re holding your breath. Clenching your stomach. Drinking in the words he’s saying.
“You’re next level. When your dream comes true, I’ll be right beside you. Telling you that I told you so.”
“Yeah?”
“Oh yeah, Y/N. We’re best friends. It’s you and me till the end. We’ll be laughing about this when it happens to us."
You’re both smiling up at the ceiling, the anticipation, hopes, and dreams you’ve held onto for so long burning in your chest because they’re right on your doorstep.
“Eren.”
“Hm, Y/N?”
“How did you know that I’ve sung and danced before?”
He winces, quietly whispering into the air.
“I googled you after the screen test. I had a feeling it was going to be you.”
You both turn your heads to smile at each other, this night marking the start of your shared dream.
You agree. You and Eren. Till the end.
-
You film the screen test scene the next day. And when you wipe Eren’s tear off his face again, and the director cuts, Hange and Levi are smiling sunshine at you, the former shitting bricks at the sight of the two of you.
And when Hange runs around set, praising two upcoming Savants, you and Eren can’t help but fist bump behind your backs, smiling sunshine at each other like Levi and Hange were too.
You’re both going to go down in history.

— KNOWN FOR
Keisha is a witty and ambitious idol who's personality shines brightly through her snappy and energetic choreography, while also showing a raw and passionate side of her through her singing and rapping. She is praised for a her precision, accuracy and emotion by her manager and JYP himself as well as from other Idols.
She is known for occasionally appearing in other k-groups lives either heard in the background or directly in view, rambling about something and coming to say hi to their fanbase. Charmings are shocked to see how close she is to TWICE and BTS in particular, making them wonder how long she has known both groups before she officially became an Idol, and what their relationships are like off camera
She's known for having a pet bunny called Tiffany, Tiff for short. Tiffany often makes appearances in her own lives. Tiffany is very cute and is loved by the fanbase
She is an artist. She tends to draw a lot and can see having piles of stuffed notebooks of drawings in her room. She's too shy to show her art but there was a screenshot of her accidentally leaving one of her notebooks open showing a double page section filled with well drawn sketches of recognised idols. Some from BTS some from TWICE.
She is a spanish black person. This makes her stand out from all other idols. But when she made her first appearance onto a game show, Black fans and Spanish fans of kpop had basically gone crazy seeing a black Idol speak their language for the first time and the number of Charmings doubled, if not tripled.
She is known for being so fucking painfully honest about everything it's funny. She's basically voluntarily called herself out on multiple occasions. Like when she admitted that she likes both man boobs and woman boobs (she's bi) or when she brain vomits her thoughts onto her tumblr page (yes she is in fact a tumblr girly), thinking no one would've seen her viral post that read "namjoon thinks I'm a bad influence on army cus of how vocal i am as if they didnt already want be crushed by his beefy arms before I admitted I did. They just get me (i joke btw.. kinda)" that she had deleted the second she posted it, but of course it got screenshoted and reposted onto twitter☠️
— FUN FACTS
She is older than Jungkook by 4 months
She is close friends with NAYEON, Sana, Chaeyoung, YOONGI, JIMIN, JUNGKOOK, Namjoon, J-hope, TAEHYUNG, Jin, BANGCHAN, Felix, Hyunjin and YUNA
No one knows this yet but she has a crush on 4 of the idols listed and 2 of the highlighted names are part of the four, the other 2 are not
Red Panda is her animal representative because there was a video circulating of her dressed up as a mascot for her highschool as a red panda
She is an excellent cook and loves to cook for her members and her idol friends
She is the 2nd most shipped with trainee in MKB before she even became an Idol. She is now the first most shipped idol in MKB.
She is a genuine ARMY herself lmao😭😭 way too many times has she been caught singing a bts song when on camera

hello, i've been thinking about musical theatre nerd Baxter since the Phantom of the Opera ask, and now i need headcanons about it, please, personally, i also think we would've made a great Orpheus for Hadestown
I love all the theatre nerd Baxter talk, it's so fun to think about!
-- He started dancing when he was 8, so by the time he gets into high school, everyone definitely knows it's a thing. He's also very good! Because of this, he gets approached his freshman year when the theatre kids are putting on the ~spring musical~
-- They have kids that know how to dance, but he's getting to be known for his talent, so hey, why not ask him to help out?
-- He's got some free time and a pathological need to please, so like sure, he's down.
-- Instantly obsessed. He's not unfamiliar with theatre, and he's seen musicals (old black and white movies with all the dancing, he loves), but actually being involved in the production of one? What a blast for him! The drama of it all!
-- As a former costume crew member, Baxter also gives me costume crew vibes. Just sitting in the shop sewing stuff and talking trash about everybody else. Could hem the hell out of a pair of pants and make an actor cry at the same time.
-- Him with a measuring tape around his neck at the sewing machine, just working and suffering. No, you can't try on someone else's costume for fun. No, you can't borrow something for a party. Get out of his shop. Seriously, get out.
-- Stage Manage Baxter too. He has his binder, his headset and he is TIRED OF EVERYONE. Learn your lines. Build the set. He doesn't have TIME for this.
-- I'm just realizing that you didn't specify high school, that was in a comment somewhere, so this can be for college too, or an AU! Baxter is an old soul, he's always going to be like this.
-- Could also perform! He could sing if he wanted, so he'd be your classic triple threat with his dancing talent, and we all know his dramatic ass could handle the acting.
-- Baxter pretty much IS Bobby from "Company," but he couldn't play the role until he was the right age for the character, so no school productions, it would hit too close to home.
-- "Somebody hold me too close, somebody hurt me too deep, somebody sit in my chair and ruin my sleep and make me aware of being alive," like COME ON.
-- We've talked about Phantom Baxter more than once, so that's a thing too!
-- I would do anything to see him do Emcee in "Cabaret." Tell me he wouldn't kill it, you can't do it.
-- Jamie in "Last 5 Years" -- "The Schmuel Song" is something he'd actually do for MC, so that's cute.
-- I'll lose my mind -- Baxter proposing like "The Next Ten Minutes," just think. "Will you share your life with me for the next ten minutes, for a million summers till the world explodes, till there's no one left who has ever known us apart?"
-- He will absolutely belt his heart out when he's alone in the car. And the shower. And maybe while cooking and cleaning.
-- There is never going to be one single instance at all ever in which he doesn't know his lines or his choreography.
-- If this is school Baxter though, there's always a fight because he excels at both musicals AND period pieces, but he is only one person and can't be in everything. He's one of the strongest dancers but also just a natural at that elevated speech in more classic plays OBVIOUSLY.

Seven Black Performers Who Changed The World Of Burlesque
SARA COUGHLIN FEBRUARY 21, 2017, 10:30 AM
Josephine Baker
Tumblr media
PHOTO: GENERAL PHOTOGRAPHIC AGENCY/GETTY IMAGES.
At the height of their popularity in the early and mid-20th century, burlesque halls were overwhelmingly segregated spaces. Although women of color performed as shake dancers in nightclubs, they rarely shared the stage with white dancers. It was up to them to make a name for themselves in an industry in which their identities were easily obscured, exoticized, and even forgotten.
Here, we're celebrating some of the Black women who broke into the world of mainstream burlesque, and in turn forged pathways for future generations of Black performers and challenged standards of beauty.
Some of these women, Eartha Kitt and Josephine Baker among them, enjoyed illustrious careers and maintain their fame today. Then there are others, like Lady Ernestine, who are known only for their stage names and little else. What all of these women have in common is the drive to prove their talent to a society that expected little of them. They changed what it meant to be a sex symbol, proudly owning their Blackness and their bodies in a way that the American public certainly didn't see every day.
Click through to get to know some of the most prominent Black burlesque performers.
Jean Idelle
A true trailblazer, Idelle was the first Black woman to perform alongside white women and is credited with breaking the color barrier in burlesque. She performed throughout the 1950s in the U.S. and Canada, often with her signature ostrich feather dance.
Although she retired in 1960, Idelle performed for the Burlesque Hall of Fame in 2012, at the age of 82 — and naturally stole the show.

Toni Elling

Born Rosita Sims, Elling began her burlesque career in 1960, when she was 32. Though she was considered a little old for a dancer-cum-stripper, Elling's sheer talent proved her doubters wrong. She took her act around the country and even overseas (as far as Japan).
Although Elling retired from performing in 1974, she has continued to work as a teacher and role model for younger generations of dancers. To this day, her overriding message is to keep burlesque artful — not overt.
Lady Ernestine

Lady Ernestine, also known as The Exotic Queen, was a prominent performer in the '50s and '60s, but unfortunately, little else is known about her today.
Marie Bryant

Bryant made her debut as a jazz club dancer when she was 15 in 1934. Only a year later, she had made a reputation for herself as an actor, singer, and dancer — a total triple threat. Bryant's career took off in several directions at once, as she performed around the country, recorded songs, and even broke into the film industry.
Although Bryant appeared in front of the camera several times, she made history as one of the first Black people to work on the technical side of a film. It was behind the scenes of a Gene Kelly picture that she started working as a dance instructor and choreographer.
Bryant continued to work with high-profile students, including Cyd Charisse, Ava Gardner, and Lucille Ball, and even opened her own studio before her death in 1978.
Eartha Kitt

Before Kitt was known for "Santa Baby" or for her role as Catwoman, she lived in poverty and faced discrimination for her mixed-race heritage. Kitt joined the Katherine Dunham Dance Company, the first ever African American modern dance company, when she was a teenager. She toured with the company as a featured singer and dancer until she was offered the chance to perform solo in European nightclubs.
She soon returned to the States and took Broadway by storm. Her performances stood out from the rest, thanks to her knowing sex appeal — one critic wrote that she "can make a song burst into flame."
Ada Overton
Tumblr media
PHOTO: DONALDSON COLLECTION/MICHAEL OCHS ARCHIVES/GETTY IMAGES.
Overton rose to fame in the early 1900s, making a name for herself as a gifted performer who made dances like the cakewalk and buck-and-wing her own. As a dancer, she was said to be as strong as she was graceful, flaunting her modern interpretations of indigenous African dances onstage for royalty and the white elite.
As Overton's career blossomed, she changed her first name to Aida, in honor of the Haitian spirit of fertility, and viewed her work as social activism for Black women and actresses. Overton performed until her death in 1914, at the age of 34. She's remembered as one of the first African American women to find success as a performer and she served as a role model for future generations of Black entertainers.

The triple threat blondies. Chloè, Félix, and Adrièn. (Maybe Zoè too…) They all grew up together in rich French/English society. They’re all sort of asshat elitist (Adrien has an button for this occasion and as of yet is the only one capable of turning off the assholery). They’re baddass. They take high society by storm. Everybody wants them and/or to be them. Hottest bachelors/bachelorette for a could many years. They’re the it trio. Like the three of them (maybe four Oml I’m picturing Zoe here too but triple threat sounds better than quadruple quarantine or whatever) chilling in a limo, chattering and shit taking and making bets about how the nights going to go and arguing over the latest scandals and then them pulling up in front of the gala hall or whatever. They all take shots or maybe get slightly high (literally any and every rich kid cliche bad decision) before the chauffeur opens the door and immediately the cameras start flashing like Kardashian level exposure before anybody even sets foot out of the car. Felix escorts Zoe out first, then Adrien and Chloe an they all look like picture perfect couples but in reality, Adrien and Chloe are bickering like children, and Felix and Zoe are just admiring the architecture and making snide comments like Oml did you see that lady’s dress?? What is that?? they’re all divas. The event happens, they mingle and dance with people, avoid forking the shitty people and gossip. Eventually, one by one they slip away to the predetermined hiding spot away from the event (it’s probably a bathroom) and just debrief each other in everything and shit talk while passing around a joint. Everybody decides to ditch to marinette’s place, Zoe doesn’t really know her that well but she seems really cool, Chloe wants to slip off her heels and fall asleep on anything (she also slipped a a couple designers mari’s business card and hyped her up and wants to tell her abt that), Felix does not want to go because he’s a bitch and marinette broke his nose last time but also he’s starting to respect her so he only protests for his prides sake. Adrien of course was going to head there after the gala by himself as chat noir and just crash there for the night but now he’s got company and he doesn’t want to bring them (and share marinette) but he can’t get out of it now so instead he just scowls and threatens to sue them into bankruptcy if they bring paparazzi to Marinette’s door.

Beren and Luthien Modern Crime Lord (+ side of performing arts) AU
Alright I'm releasing this into the wild.
Luthien is a triple threat (singer, actor, dancer) and amazingly famous, as well as glorious at every single thing she does. She performs in live theatre.
Melian is a singer, ex-government, and a hacker/cyber security expert, and she works with her husband (Thingol), who is an untraceable crime lord that operates out of an outwardly run-down block of apartments.
Btw magic = coding hacking things (I know nothing about that lol)
So Luthien is rehearsing for a musical, and she has the most amazing number where she both sings and dances. Beren works as part of the staff at the rehearsal venue and often sees her dance, and of course, falls in love with her.
One day after rehearsal he shyly asks her if she would teach him to dance, and tells her that she has the voice of a nightingale. She's really flattered and also falls in love with him, so she agrees. B and L go on cute little dance dates for about a year until it's meet-the-parents time. Which of course is especially important because the parents are crime lords.
Thingol meets Beren and thinks he isn't crime lord material. He asks him to steal a precious jewel, out of a set of three, from one of the most dangerous crime lords out there — Morgoth Bauglir. If Beren manages to complete the jewel heist successfully, Thingol will let him marry Luthien.
Beren leaves to get help from his father's friend Finrod (who is a business tycoon), and Finrod agrees, leaving Orodreth in charge.
Beren, Finrod and his company of ten go to the first location from which Bauglir operates, and there they are captured by Bauglir's second-in-command, Gorthaur. Gorthaur slowly tortures and kills them all until only Beren is left. (Btw the song-battle is the same because why not).
Two high-ranking members of Finrod, Celegorm and Curufin, have ulterior motives, because the brilliant jeweller/scientist/who-knows-how-many-professions-he-had man who made the jewels is their father (Feanor).
Feanor was dead and he said in his will that he would like to make sure his sons got revenge on Bauglir for the theft (and for the murder of Feanor's father, Finwe), and made sure the jewels did not get into anyone else's hands.
Meanwhile, Luthien is under house arrest and guarded at all times to make sure she doesn't run away. But she knocks one of her guards out, temporarily disables the alarm system, and escapes. She goes looking for information and gets captured by C&C and taken to one of their less known houses. Huan (still a dog) helps her escape, and they head to where Gorthaur is.
Luthien stands outside the place while Huan kills/mains/drives off all the guards. Then Luthien challenges Gorthaur, and knowing her crime background, he backs down. Luthien and Beren reunite and escape, and Huan goes back to C&C.
C&C track B and L to a deserted train station. The fight scene happens and Huan forsakes Celegorm. After that Beren and Luthien go to the most secure place that Bauglir's group owns, and get past the large wolf and his guard by disguising themselves. Then Luthien presents herself to Bauglir and tells him that she has come to show him an exclusive performance that has never been seen before. While she does this, she releases a drug into the air to make Bauglir and his lackeys fall asleep (she and Beren have picked disguises that have masks, as well as taken an antidote).
Beren, who has stolen an interesting knife from Curufin, cuts the jewel out of Bauglir's helmet (which he wears because he's a bit silly), but the sleeping agent soon starts to wear off. Beren and Luthien head out, and then the wolf at the door bites off Beren's hand and swallows the jewel. Something happens to him when he does that and he starts chasing Beren and Luthien.
Luthien rushes Beren to the Doriath-apartment-blocks where Beren explains the situation. Luthien and some doctors heal him, and then the hunt for Carcaroth begins.
Carcaroth gets captured, and the jewel is extracted, but the events are discovered by a secret government agency and its head, Mandos, captures Beren.
Luthien uses Melian's ex-government credentials to get access to Mandos, but he tells her that if she wants Beren back, she will have to fade away from the public eye and mostly cut contact with her family. The reason he gives is that despite these jewels being famous, their true nature (of apparently being sentient and moralistic?!) needs.to be hidden.
B and L sign the NDA and fade away into a normal life, where they raise a son in a small house in a pretty wood. They live to a good age.
Eventually the sons of Feanor come for the jewel and everything else happens, but this is a Beren and Luthien only AU so let's not go into that.

Theatre kid au? Yeah.
Maka Albarn - mezzo soprano. Usually plays side characters. She drinks 15 Starbucks Medicine balls before a show and Is always stretching backstage
Soul E. Evans - Bass. Usually leads or villain. No phones backstage? Okay. Uses his laptop to play games
Death The Kid- Baritone, really wide range. His father owns the theatre company but he is not always the lead. His dream role is Seymour Krelborn. We need to talk about him being Jesus in JCSS
Liz Thompson- costumer and makeup artist, never was into singing on stage, would totally play Marty in Grease tho
Patty Thompson- alto, has an insane belt. She is usually the funny quirky character or the villain. Whatever role requires her belt. Mad hatter in wonderland is her dream role
Black*Star- tenor. Just tenor. He is also the funny goofy character. I can see him being a good King Herod in JCSS. Shows up late to rehearsal with coffee in hand soul is with him
Tsubaki- soprano, she’s usually the mother character cause she’s so tall. Or ensemble since she can dance. Wants to be Donna in Mamma Mia or Peggy in Godspell
Crona- see, because crona always has opera music follow them in the show, I can totally see them having a soprano opera voice. Is usually not found on stage but has done a couple shows.
Kim Diehl- mezzo alto. Thinks she’s a triple threat but is really just a threat
Jacquelyn O’Latern - Soprano. She’s dance captain
Killik Rung(or Lung?)- Baritone. That one guy that started as stage crew but now he acts AND moves things cause L.D theatre company’s crew is 4 people.
Ox Ford & Harvar D. - stage crew & lights

Feel the Beat, Always Part I
Tumblr media
A/N: Thanks to @daydreamsandcaffeine for encouraging me to write this and for the little brainstorm session! I’m not very good with edits, but above is a little visual anyway. It’s kinda long. Enjoy!
Katniss raises her arms above her head, stretching her lean, lithe body; she links her thumbs, bends her knees, and arches her chest as she drops her head back, leading with her fingers. Slowly, she goes into a full standing backbend, then drops down and catches herself. She bends her elbows and goes into a reverse tabletop position for about ten seconds, then lowers herself down to the mat.
She’s been up since sunrise, limbering up and running through her dance routine, twice. Now she’s completing her post-dance stretches. Maybe she’ll go through the routine once more though, for good measure.
After all, her big audition is TODAY.
And big shot producer, Alma Coin, is going to be there.
Dance is Katniss Everdeen’s life. And she’s good at it, really good. Oh, she’s not a star by any means, but she’s managed to land a couple of larger roles which have gotten her name out there, and she’s kept steady gigs in the chorus line of several popular stage shows. It’s been enough to make a living without having to work two or three jobs, which is a small miracle here in New York City. Her place isn’t a penthouse, obviously, nor is it a rat’s hole‒it’s just a simple loft, and it’s just right for her. What she loves best is that there’s plenty of space to dance.
A small town girl leaving her small town life to make it as a performer in “the big city” is relatively unheard of–well, no, not unheard of. It’s all too common. What’s not common is being successful at it. But Katniss has talent, and she’s aware of it. She can sing; she can dance, and if only she could act, she’d be a triple threat; however, she sucks at acting. But that’s okay. She doesn’t really need to; she can make her body work for her when her words and facial expressions fail her.
Katniss goes into a butterfly stretch.
Her mangy old muddy-orange cat, Buttercup, whom she inherited when her grandmother passed, comes up beside her, brushing her with his tail as he passes. He stops to stretch out beside her, elongating his body and sticking his butt in the air as he digs his nails into the gray and beige geometric-patterned rug. Then he trots over and jumps up on her couch and assumes the loaf position. Lazily, he watches her with rotten squash-colored eyes. He blinks at her once, and Katniss’s lips twitch.
Buttercup, an unlikely companion (and one she didn’t like very much at first), is quite possibly the ugliest cat she’s ever seen with his mashed-in nose and half an ear missing. He was definitely unwanted at first, but he’s grown on her. He’s her only company, truly, the only person in her life, and he’s not even a person. Well, Katniss hasn’t had a date in…some number of years, but that’s okay. She doesn’t really need anyone; she only needs the stage.
As for family, there’s only her dad. She’s an only child, and her mom left when she was little. She does try to call her father at least once a week. They don’t have much to talk about, but they get each other all the same. For one, he’s good about not guilt-tripping her for never coming to visit; he’s just happy to hear her voice. It’s not that she doesn’t want to go back to New Hope, West Virginia, or maybe she doesn’t. Admittedly, it would be too hard to see…certain persons, namely one, and of course, she’d have to hear everyone drone on and on about how she abandoned the town to make her way in NYC.
She finishes her stretches, showers, braids her long hair up in a high braid, and dresses in her dance attire as she doesn’t know what the changing room situation will be like‒she hates crowding in a room with dozens of other girls, all fighting over the last mirror. Not that Katniss cares about the mirror so much; she’s not a heavy makeup wearer. She checks the weather, and of course, it’s raining, so she grabs a trench coat and slips into it on her way out. In the elevator, she buttons it partially up and cinches it at the waist.
Midtown traffic is a killer, per usual. Actually, it seems much, much worse today. What the heck is going on? It takes her nearly twenty minutes to hail a cab, and her once leisurely commute is suddenly a rush. When the cab comes to a stop, she says a silent thanks. But then, she sees a middle-aged woman with long gray hair across the street, and she’s going for the same cab as her.
Oh no, no way. That’s my cab! thinks Katniss.
Her competitive side kicking in (and also her survival instinct‒Katniss Everdeen doesn’t get pushed around by anyone), she runs for the cab as fast as she can in her character heels, and without being hit by traffic. Fortunately, it’s come to a crawl. The other woman gets to the cab just ahead of her and opens the door, and Katniss slips right in, calling out, “Thank you!”
“This is my cab!” the woman screeches.
“I’m sorry, but it’s a matter of life or death.” Katniss shuts the door and gives the driver the address, and he’s speeding off, leaving the woman standing there in the rain‒she’s lost her umbrella, so she’s getting pelted. For a moment, Katniss feels bad, but she can’t miss this audition; this is her big break. Wherever the woman has to go, it can’t be as important as where she’s going. She probably has some cushy office job, anyway, where it doesn’t matter much if you’re a few minutes late.
Briefly, Katniss thinks of someone she used to know. He was always such a do-gooder that he’d never approve of this kind of behavior. He’d never make it in this city, she thinks; NYC would chew him up and spit him out. Even so, she decides to do something nice for some random stranger later in his honor; perhaps she’ll buy coffee for the next person in line at Starbucks after she nails this audition.
-----
Katniss gets to her audition with only five minutes to spare. It’s good she decided to wear her crop top and tights to the audition rather than change there; now she only needs to dry off her shoes a bit, so she doesn’t slip.
When her name is called with a group of several others, Katniss heads confidently to the stage. She’s not nervous, not really. There was a time when she used to get nervous before auditions, but such a thing does no good. It’s better to appear confident, even if you’re not; although, she is.
Katniss performs the routine perfectly. She noticed a couple of the dancers getting off the beat, but it didn’t throw her a bit. Those two will surely be cut. She makes it through the first round of cuts, and then the second, and she’s practically flying, her smile wide, her face glowing with hope and just a bit of perspiration.
“Now, Ms. Alma Coin would like to have a look at you,” Coin’s assistant, who’s been doing the cuts, says.
Katniss stands tall, strikes a pose, and smiles just as the cab woman walks out on stage.
Oh crap.
Katniss prays this woman won’t recognize her, but of course, she does, her thin, lipstick-less mouth curling up into a snarl-grimace. Then she hopes for Ms. Coin to be professional, to choose the best dancers, regardless of petty vendettas. But no. She immediately begins dressing her down for her outlandish behavior, says she’d never allow such a disgraceful person to perform in one of her shows. It seems a bit much to Katniss. Just because she inconvenienced her and ticked her off she’s going to ban her from being in any of her shows? And not only that, but Ms. Coin also declares, in an overly dramatic fashion, that her ‘career is over.’
She can’t just decide that, announce that she’ll never work on Broadway again!
Katniss tries to explain herself, smooth things over, but that only results in her accidentally knocking Alma Coin off the stage and injuring her. Not knowing what else to do, Katniss rushes out of the audition.
-----
On her way back to her apartment, she receives several texts from her friend Cinna. Apparently, someone captured a video of her knocking Alma Coin off the stage and posted it on social media. The ridiculous thing is up to 30,000 views.
Cinna, what am I gonna do? she texts.
Cinna: Just give it some time. Lay low and try again after a month or so. It’ll die down.
A month? she texts back. I don’t have a month. I’m already behind on my rent since the money from my last show ran out, and I’m sure my sleazebag landlord isn’t gonna be happy.
Cinna: Don’t worry, darlin. Just let me know if you need some money.
I don’t take charity, Cinna, she texts.
Cinna: I know.
-----
Over the next three weeks, Katniss does everything she can to make ends meet, even cocktail waitressing, something she never thought she’d (or wanted to) go back to. Additionally, Cinna had the brilliant idea that she should audition for Portia Rose, a big Broadway producer, who’s apparently the only one not intimidated by Alma Coin. But how is she going to audition for her? Her agent dropped her after the video, and it isn’t exactly easy to take meetings with wealthy show biz people.
Her one chance comes after Cinna does a little detective work and discovers that Portia will be dining at the ritzy Capitol Bar & Grille for lunch Friday afternoon. It might be crazy, but if Katniss can put on a performance on the sidewalk as Portia is coming out of the restaurant, maybe she’ll catch her eye. Dressed in her best dance ensemble, a sparkly silver little number designed by Cinna, she waits outside for Portia. Sure enough, she’s there, and the moment she leaves the restaurant with her group, Katniss goes right into it.
Unfortunately, Portia either doesn’t notice her or doesn’t care because she walks right by. As she’s trying to get her attention, Katniss runs into a hot dog vendor and ends up covered in ketchup and mustard.
For the topper on the crap sundae that is her day, and her life, when she gets back to her apartment, her stuff is in the halls and there’s an EVICTED notice on her door in bold black letters. And the locks have been changed. Did her asshole landlord throw her out with no real notice?! Okay, so maybe he’d been threatening her for weeks, but how could he just toss her stuff into the halls and change the locks? It could’ve been stolen! At least he put Buttercup in his cat carrier rather than turn him loose. She considers going to her landlord to plead her case, but he’s already made it clear he won’t be lenient anymore, that is, unless she wants to sleep with him. She’d rather be homeless. She doesn’t want to live in a place managed by such a creep anyway.
Katniss slumps against her door between the boxes and slides down to a seated position. Her head falls back against the door with a thunk. Buttercup yowls from beside her, and she sticks her fingers through the holes of the carrier to let him sniff her.
“We’re gonna be okay, Buttercup. We’ll be o-kay.”
Just then, her phone rings, and as if he sensed her despair, it’s her dad.
She hesitates, then answers the video call. “Hey, Dad.” She attempts for bright and cheery, but she’s sure she’s grimacing, and she can feel hot tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. Katniss hasn’t cried in years, not since her mom left, and she doesn’t plan to start now.
“Hey, Catkin! How’s my best girl?”
“Just…paying my dues, Dad,” she mutters. She can’t fake it much longer, but she doesn’t exactly want to give him the deets.
“It’ll happen, sweetie,” her dad assures. “You’re so talented. You’re gonna make it.” He goes on to tell her how proud he is of her and how he’s saved the playbills she’s sent him for all of her Broadway shows. He’s only made it to one of her shows, but she knows that was difficult enough for him to manage, so she’s thankful.
“Thanks, Dad,” she says, plastering on a small smile.
“Are you…sitting in the hallway?” he asks.
Oh God. She positions the phone to ensure he only has a view of the door, not the boxes and bags littering the hall.
“Yeah, just, uh, waiting for my take-out,” she says. And he seems to buy it. Her dad knows how much she loves food.
“Oh,” he clears his throat, “what’d you get?”
“Chinese,” she answers immediately.
“Oh. Sounds good.”
There’s a pause.
“Well, uh, Dad, I think that’s my food coming up the stairs now, so I better…”
“Okay, honey. Call me later. Love you.”
“You too.” She hangs up and sighs.
She stares across the hallway at her neighbor’s door until she hears a little ding. She looks down at her phone. It’s from Dad.
Dad: You can’t fool me, sweetie. Just come home.
Dad: You can stay in your old room as long as you want. It’s all set for you. Haven’t changed a thing.
Katniss sighs. She doesn’t want her dad to think she couldn’t hack it; she doesn’t want to admit failure. But what else can she do? Presently, this city is sucking the life out of her, and she needs a recharge. She can crash at home, er her old home, maybe get a job and save up some money, and once she’s back on her feet, she can work on getting to Portia again.
-----
Against her will, her dad bought her a plane ticket and insisted on picking her up at the small New Hope airport. Probably for the best. There aren’t any cabs. Even Ubers are extremely rare. And unless she wants to hitch a ride on Old Farmer Diggs’ tractor, it’s best that she lets her father pick her up.
They sit quietly in his truck; Katniss has barely said anything since their greeting and hug at the airport. After several minutes pass, her dad starts humming a little song they used to sing together, which successfully breaks the ice, and she starts humming, then singing along. Her dad has an amazing voice, always has. She swears he can make the birds stop to listen. Truthfully, he was her inspiration to get into show business, although she's more confident and comfortable dancing than singing.
Just as they’ve passed the New Hope sign, “So, uh, heard from your mom lately?” her dad asks out of the blue, effectively putting the ice wall back up.
“Nope,” she replies. She doesn’t know why he would think she would after all these years.
Suddenly, Katniss has a terrible thought. Not that she should care about what the person who abandoned her thinks, but… “I hope she didn’t see the video.” Katniss groans. “Or anyone in town. I’d die.”
“Oh, now, don’t be too full of yourself, sweetie. People around here have other things to worry about, you know. Their own lives.”
“I know.”
“Probably just me stalking your Instabook.”
“That’s Instagram, Dad.” Katniss smirks.
“That’s what I said.” Her dad laughs a little, and Katniss’s lips quirk. But not long after, her lips curve into a frown. “I hate the internet,” she says on exhale.
“Me too,” her dad replies. “Just keep up with it for my pride and joy.”
That brings another little smile from her.
They’re driving past Town Hall when they see Coach Odair and his football team. He’s barking at them to pick up their feet and run faster, so they’re not the slowest football team out there, as well as other little passive-aggressive encouragements.
Katniss’s dad throws up his hand. “Hey, Finnick.”
“Hey, Mr. E, how ya doing?” Finnick waves back, then proceeds to ride his team.
“I see the football team still sucks,” remarks Katniss.
“Ah, they’ve had their good years and bad. Finn’s a good coach. He rides ‘em hard, but he’s actually a big softie.”
That sounds about right.
Katniss and her father make idle conversation about his job in the mines, which Katniss wishes he’d give up, and about the possibility of making the farm his sole source of income, which she encourages. But he isn’t a risk taker, he tells her. Not like her.
“Some risk taker,” she mumbles. “I take these huge risks and fail.” Katniss sighs, and Buttercup meows from the truck bed. “I really screwed up, Dad.”
“Oh now, honey. That’s what the term risk implies, that you might fail. But you haven’t failed. This is just one missed opportunity, a minor setback after multiple successes. Like you said, in a profession such as yours, you’re bound to have to pay some dues.”
“Thanks, Dad.”
“Come on, gimme a smile.” She does her best to. “Aw, you can do better than that.”
“This might be the best I have in me right now, Dad.”
“Ah, that can’t be it. Hey, I know what you need…cheese.”
Katniss quirks a brow. She does love cheese. Cheese and chocolate: two substances she could pretty much eat (or drink) her weight in.
“Or better yet, cheese buns!”
“No, Dad.” Katniss shakes her head. “Can’t we just get some cheese at the market? You know I can’t go to the bakery‒”
“Not to worry, Catkin. He won’t be there. He’s never there this time of day. I’ll even go in for you, just in case.”
----
Katniss waits outside Mellark’s Bakery while her father goes in for bread and cheese buns. She decides to get out of the truck for some fresh air. As she leans up against the truck, she cranes her neck to see if she can see who’s inside working.
“Katniss?”
Katniss spins at the sound of the high-pitched affected accent of who could be none other than Ms. Effie Trinket, her dance teacher from when she was a pre-teen through high school.
Sure enough, there she is. She’s a bit older, though she looks much the same (probably thanks to Botox, and all the makeup). Naturally, her hair is dyed a vibrant color; today, it’s bright pink. She’s dressed in her usual flamboyant style and wearing at least three or four-inch stilettos. She’d always change into dance shoes for practices, but otherwise, she’d be wearing high heels around town.
“Oh, h-hey, Ms. Trinket.” Although she’s married to the surly town drunk with a heart of gold, she still uses her maiden name. “How are you?”
“Can’t complain, dear. How are you?” She raises her voice on ‘you.’ “The big Broadway star!”
Katniss feels her shoulders slumping, but she puts on the hint of a smile. “Fine. Just fine. How’s Haymitch?”
“Oh, goodness! He’ll be the death of me, I’m sure of it!” she wails.
“You two are still…together?”
“Heavens, yes.” Then Effie launches into a number of complaints about her alcoholic husband, who is apparently sober now (for the most part) and assistant coaching the football team, interspersed with sprinklings of praises throughout. These two have an interesting relationship. They’re so different, yet somehow, they’ve made it work all these years.
“And what about you, dear? Any special man in your life?”
Katniss shakes her head. “No, not really.” She knew it was a mistake mentioning Effie’s relationship, for it was bound to lead to questions about her own, or lack thereof.
“Oh, speaking of, I just saw Peeta!” trills Effie Trinket.
Katniss feels as though a large thorn has been jabbed into her side at the mention of his name.
“Peeta?” another voice chimes in. “Oh, I saw him this morning!” Delly Cartwright has just strolled up the sidewalk hand in hand with her little girl, a light brunette girl with her hair in buns wearing a pink tutu and leotard. The last time Katniss saw her, she was a baby; she recalls that her name is Emmy. “Katniss! Is that really you?!”
What is this? A reunion?
Well, Katniss knew she was bound to run into people from her past in town. But does every one of them need to bring Peeta up?
Katniss nods and smiles faintly, and Delly claps her on the back.
“I thought it was you, but I couldn’t be sure! I mean, I thought you were in N-Y-C. I’m so glad you’re back.”
“I’m not back,” Katniss protests, though they both seem to ignore her.
“Ohhh,” Ms. Trinket claps her hands together. “It’s almost as if nothing has changed.”
Delly smiles. “Minus Katniss and Peeta being attached at the lips, that is.” She giggles.
Another thorn in her side.
Katniss rolls her eyes out of Delly’s sight. It wasn’t like Peeta and she were super into PDA. Okay, maybe they were. Peeta, anyway. Oh, he was perfectly fine with showing his affection for her anywhere and everywhere, and he was, quite frankly, hard to resist, so that made Katniss a little more lax on her no-PDA policy.
“Have you seen him yet?” asks Delly.
“Who?” Katniss plays dumb.
“Peeta!” exclaims Delly.
“Uh, no, I haven’t.”
“He’ll be glad to see you.”
No, he won’t, thinks Katniss.
“You know, back then, you two were pretty cute,” says Delly. “Some people thought you were a little sickening,” Delly giggles again, “but I always thought you two were perfect together. I really thought you were gonna get married and have a bunch of babies.”
Yeah, well, that was a long time ago, Delly. People grow up. They change.
“Oh, but then you went off to dance school while Peeta waited at home and you got that audition in Manhattan, and then came ‘the text’.” Delly uses air quotes.
Why is she giving her the play-by-play? As if Katniss doesn’t remember what happened.
“Oh yes, the text!” bleats Effie. “How scandalous!”
Katniss certainly doesn’t need to be reminded of the infamous text. She can’t help that she’s no good at saying things and chose the worst way possible to break up with her high school sweetheart. And apparently, Peeta went around telling everyone in town about it. She can’t believe he did that.
“When you two broke up, it really messed with his head, you know,” says Delly. No, she didn’t. “He was moping around town for months, barely spoke to anyone, and you know how friendly he normally is. We were all very concerned about his depression.”
Peeta was depressed? Katniss feels awful about that, but it was the way it had to be. It wouldn’t have worked out with her going to New York, and Peeta, quite obviously, wanting to stay in their hometown. Whatever existed between them was nice while it lasted, but it’s gone now.
“Oh, you remember my youngest, don’t you, Katniss?” Delly pulls Katniss from her reverie, presenting the little girl in the tutu. She’s holding a stuffed pig. “She was in Pampers last time you saw her. Emberlyn. Emmy for short.”
“Of course, I remember,” says Katniss as sweetly as possible. “Hello, Emmy. You’ve gotten big.”
“Hasn’t she?! And she’s taking dance now, just like you!”
“That’s nice.”
“Ohh, and she’s doing just marvelously!” Effie chimes in. She bends slightly at the waist as she can’t quite squat in her skirt and heels and taps Emmy on the nose. “You know, Miss Emberlyn, Miss Katniss was my star pupil.”
“That’s right!” chirps Delly. “And star soloist in the choir, too.”
Wow, that was a long time ago. Does everyone in this town have the memory of an elephant?
“And now she’s on Broadway!” adds Ms. Trinket with an air of pure pride that makes Katniss feel sick to her stomach. She hates the thought of letting down these people who believe in her.
“How’s Gale?” deflects Katniss, needing a change of subject.
But it’s short-lived as all Delly says about her husband is: “Oh, same old Gale, you know.”
Katniss nods and says, “Give him my best.”
“Will do!” bubbles Delly.
“Oh, darling,” Ms. Trinket interjects, “while you’re in town, you simply must come by and see the girls at the dance studio!”
“Uh,” Katniss pauses, “I’d love that, Ms. Trinket…except…” She pauses. Being in a dance studio is the last place Katniss wants to be after the audition debacle; she doesn’t want to be anywhere near anything related to dance, in fact. Plus, she knows her dad was just blowing steam and she actually is under the town’s scrutiny‒it’s a smaaall town‒and she can’t face the looks and little whispers once they learn what a failure she is and how she blew her big shot. And as primitive as this little town is, someone is bound to see that video and pass it along. She doesn’t want to lie to them, and yet she can’t stand the notion of telling them the truth, either. So, she lies. “Except, it’s my dad. He’s sick.”
As soon as she says it, her dad walks out of the bakery, a white bag tucked under each arm. He shoots her a curious glance.
“Oh dear,” says Ms. Trinket. “I do hope it’s nothing serious.” She looks between Katniss and her father.
Katniss looks to her father. “Oh no, don’t worry. I’m fine,” he says. “Catkin is just being overprotective, you know.”
Katniss glimpses Delly, who also has a concerned look on her face. “Always such a trooper, Mr. E! Well, I’m gonna bake you a casserole!”
Ah, small town hospitality.
“Well, um, we…better be going, Dad.”
“You’ll consider stopping by the studio?” Ms. Trinket jumps in before they can get in the truck. “Perhaps around…5:30? I know you need to take care of your father, but the girls…it’d be such a thrill for them. I’d hate to disappoint them.”
Katniss opens her mouth, but her father speaks for her. “Of course she’ll be there. I can get by for an hour or two on my own, and we wouldn’t want to disappoint the girls, now would we?” Her father gives her a pointed look, and she’s toast. Although, why would they be disappointed if Ms. Trinket hasn’t told them anything yet?
Katniss looks between her father and Ms. Trinket then says, “Sure, I’ll be there at 5:30.”
“Wonderful!” shrieks Effie. “Well, you feel better now.” She pats Mr. Everdeen’s shoulder and announces that she’s off. Delly tosses out some last well wishes, a ‘good to see you, Katniss’, and a promise for that casserole ASAP.
-----
After waving goodbye to her father, Katniss stands outside the New Hope Dance Studio. She stares up at the brightly painted sign with the dandelions on it, which was hand painted by Peeta, she recalls. She takes a couple of deep breaths before making her way inside.
The place hasn’t changed much. It’s still painted a bright sunset orange. The reception area is exactly the same with the box of dance-related pamphlets on the counter and a couple of spare leotards and tutus hanging on the wall. She wanders over to the opposite wall with the corkboard. This area has changed a little. Namely, there’s a large framed collage photo of Katniss in various stages of growth in dance attire as well as the newspaper clipping with the story about how a local girl made it big in NYC on Broadway, also framed.
Miss Trinket hums as she comes up behind Katniss. “I know I only taught you for 6 years 10 months and 22 days before you went off to real dance school in Chicago, but I’d like to think I had a hand in you becoming a Broadway sensation.”
Katniss turns, smiles faintly, and nods.
“Thank you, Ms. Trinket,” she humbles herself. “I’m grateful.”
Miss Trinket sniffles and looks like shes about to cry. She waves her hand in front of her face, then says with a hopeful expression, “Grateful enough to teach a master class, or three?”
Katniss sighs. Not that grateful, no.
“Oh, but don’t worry about that right now.” Effie tugs on Katniss’s arm. “Come on, let’s not keep the girls waiting.”
Once inside the dance studio, which also looks exactly the same, and could probably use some renovations, Katniss surveys the young dancers while Ms. Trinket brings over a folding chair for her. Delly is also there. She’s a committed dance mom, of course.
“Have a seat now, dear,” says Ms. Trinket. Then she turns to the girls. “Girls, this is Miss Katniss. She was one of my best students and is now a big Broadway star! Make her feel welcome, please!”
The girls all clap, save for one. Katniss catches sight of none other than Primrose Mellark off to the side, and she looks none too pleased to see her.
As for the rest of them, Katniss does her best to commit their faces and names to memory as best she can as Ms. Trinket introduces them. Meanwhile, Delly is signing alongside her.
There’s a deaf girl with pale skin, amber eyes, and bright red hair. Katniss has already forgotten her name, but her face and nose is elongated like a fox, so she’s calling her Foxface. So, it must be for her benefit that Delly is using sign language.
There’s Rue, a dark-skinned girl with soft brown eyes who gives off a very birdlike quality. At least she has the body of a dancer, so there could be hope for her yet.
Then there’s a girl named Camille, who places a flower crown she made atop Katniss’s head. Katniss recalls Peeta doing the same thing one day in the meadow. It feels like so long ago…
Speaking of Peeta, Katniss knew that Prim was interested in dance because she used to prance around in front of her constantly. And she didn’t seem half-bad for her age. She wonders how she’s progressed. Hopefully, she’s learned some actual steps.
Katniss doesn’t know Peeta’s youngest sister as well, but she seems energetic, and maintains close proximity to her brooding older sister.
Delly’s girls are there as well as Finnick Odair’s brood: a little girl with dark brown hair and sea green eyes named Morgan, and apparently, he leaves his son Rusty, a bronze-haired, green-eyed boy, there while he’s at football practice. Rusty just watches and colors.
Ms. Trinket gets through the introductions, then decides it would be fabulous to have a Q&A session with Katniss, so the girls can learn from a real life success story.
They ask questions like: When did you start dancing? Does the most talented dancer always get the part? Etc. And Katniss answers in brief. When one of them asks what show she’s in now, Katniss moves on to another topic.
They’re all overly excited now, as if they’ve had sugar, and just about every one of them has announced that they want to be on Broadway someday. One of them raises her hand and asks how to get on Broadway.
“Well, first of all, don’t ever make a mistake in front of anyone important,” Katniss says. Alright, so maybe she’s a bit jaded from her recent experience. “But here’s the thing. You don’t always know who the important people are, so that means you can never make a mistake in front of anyone, ever. Oh, and also, hard work and talent.”
The girls are staring blankly at her.
Katniss knows she should stop, but she keeps going. “I’d say you all have a .0001 percent chance of making it.” Delly signs it, then adds an enthusiastic little fist pump after as if to soften the blow.
Despite Delly’s false enthusiasm, their faces collectively fall. And a few of them are even cuddling each other for comfort. But it’s better she tells them the honest truth now before they go out and fall on their faces. They look like criers.
This seems like a good time to take her leave, so Katniss excuses herself (but not before Ms. Trinket slips a dance competition flyer into her bag). She feels a little bad about dashing those little girls’ hopes, but maybe she’s done them a favor. The life of a Broadway dancer is not at all glamorous.
When she steps outside, Katniss is blindsided by the sight of her father standing next to none other than Peeta Mellark.
Katniss comes to an abrupt stop and gapes.
“Look who I ran into, Catkin,” her dad says.
Peeta is grinning at her. And he looks great. “Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in,” says he.
“Peeta,” she mutters like an idiot, blinking rapidly. She’s not sure why she’s reacting this way; it’s not like she didn’t know it was a strong possibility she’d run into him while she was home.
“You remembered.” He smirks.
Katniss clears her throat. “Of course.”
“So, the rumors are true. You’re back,” Peeta says. And she can’t tell if he’s happy about that or simply stating the fact.
“Temporarily,” she clarifies. “I’m just home visiting my dad. He’s…” She looks to her father, who quickly chimes in with the fake story she made up in order to save face, which is probably already going around town anyway.
“I’m sick,” her father chimes in. “I’ve been sick.”
“Oh,” Peeta’s brow furrows. “Really? Mr. E, I’m…” Peeta doesn’t finish his sentence, but instead lays a hand on Mr. Everdeen’s shoulder.
“Yeah…” Her dad gives a clearly fake cough. “I better go rest…in my truck.”
Peeta nods solemnly, but the quirk to his lip indicates he knows it’s a lie. “Feel better, Mr. E. I’ll bake you a pie,” he promises as he waves goodbye to him.
Well, at least thanks to her lie her father is going to be well-fed. He’ll have Delly’s casserole and now Peeta’s pie, both delicious.
Once they’re alone, Katniss offers Peeta a thin smile. “So, um, what are you doing here?”
“What am I doing here?” repeats Peeta, clearly amused. “Did they wipe your memory while you were in New York? I’m picking up my sisters from dance class. Remember Primrose and Poppy?”
“Of course I remember Primrose and Poppy.”
They stand there a moment, Katniss shuffling her feet, Peeta staring at his.
“So,” Peeta speaks up, meeting her eyes again and folding his strong arms across his broad chest. Has he gotten even broader? Peeta always had muscles, but now he’s…like a brick wall. A very cozy brick wall, she’d imagine…
Katniss shakes off her delusional thoughts.
“So,” she repeats, folding her arms and arching a brow. She hopes to appear nonchalant, although she feels completely the opposite.
“So?” he repeats, the corner of his mouth twitching. He still has that damn dimple. Of course he does. She’s not sure why she’d think it would go away, or that it would stop having an effect on her.
When she says nothing more, Peeta starts up a conversation, filling in both his and her parts. “So, how are you, Peeta? What have you been up to?” he says. “I’m great, Kat. Busy. Baking, of course. Doing odd jobs around town. And my Grandma Mags has been getting a little forgetful, so I’ve been taking over more with my sisters. You know, doing the grownup thing. Oh, and by the way, your dad is still on me about fixing the barn from that time we, uh,” he raises his brow, “accidentally started that fire.”
Katniss’s cheeks warm, and Peeta adds proverbial fuel to the fire by saying, “Who knew starting a fire,” he winks, “could actually start a fire?” He gives her a sly grin. “Guess that broken lantern had something to do with it, huh?”
“Guess so,” she mutters, suddenly unable to look him in those blue-blue eyes.
Working up her nerve, Katniss decides to just come out and say what needs to be said. “Look, Peeta.”
“Mhm?” He strokes his chin and stares at her thoughtfully. Why does he have to make everything so difficult.
“Since...” She sucks in a bit of air. “Since I’m going to be back for a bit, and we’re clearly going to be running into each other a lot, I should say…I know I broke your heart.”
Peeta pokes out his lip and bobs his head up and down. Is he mocking her?
“I know I didn’t end things in the most…thoughtful way…”
“‘Sorry to do this in a text,’” Peeta quotes, “‘but I’m going to New York, so we have to break up. -Kat.’ No, see, I thought it was very thoughtfully-worded.”
Katniss smirks and shakes her head at him.
“I just wanted to make sure, uh, that there weren’t any hard feelings…”
“Oh, Katniss, Katniss, Katniss, Katniss, Katniss. That was high school. Ancient history. I mean, it’s not like we were ever gonna work out.”
For some reason, the way he says it so casually and cheerfully turns Katniss’s stomach.
“Well, I better be going,” says Peeta, reaching out to graze her arm. She feels an electric current pass between them. He then tosses her father, who’s in his truck across the street, a ‘see ya later’
Mr. Everdeen calls out in reply, “That barn’s not gonna fix itself, young man!” Peeta just laughs.
-----
Katniss is in a foul mood on the drive back to the Everdeen farm. And her dad doesn’t help matters by saying, “Well, it’s good he’s finally over you.”
Katniss grimaces.
“At least his skin’s cleared up.” Katniss shoots her dad a bewildered look, and he quickly changes the subject by pulling the dance brochure out of her bag. “Oh, what’s this?”
“Just some dumb dance competition thing.” Katniss sighs. “Ms. Trinket actually wanted me to teach, can you believe it?”
“Well, I think that’s nice. Means she thinks a lot of your skill.”
“No, it means I’m a failure, Dad. I should be doing the dancing, not teaching.”
“I told you, you’ll get your shot, honey.”
Katniss huffs. Her dad clears his throat and starts reading through the brochure.
“Hey, this doesn’t sound so bad. There’ll be all kinds of big name judges there.” Katniss gives a skeptical exhale. “No, really.” He starts naming them off, one of which he claims she is friends with, although she only danced in a benefit she hosted. “Then there’s,” her dad goes on, “Por-tee-uh Rose.”
Katniss slams on the brakes and pulls off to the side of the road. “Portia Rose?” She snatches the brochure from him, and sure enough, Portia Rose will be one of the celebrity judges at the finals in Atlantic City.
“I’m going to do it, Dad,” she announces. “I’m going to teach dance.”

heyo, heyo! it's bobbi ( @lgcbk ) rolling in with my second muse! meet park taeha! a wannabe triple threat ( dance / vocal / shenanigans variety ) gunning for the nation's little sister spot. as always, i kinda sorta figure things out as i go along so i'll be fleshing out her pages periodically, but for now feel free to check the info under the cut for a crash course in taeha-isms, and i'll be hopping around im's to pester for plots ( it's easier for me to keep up with things in the im's but i'm also a bit faster on discord, so let me know if you'd rather plot there! ). That's all for now, and be on the look out for a plot call!
╰ ❮ ❀ flowers bloom with strong roots! / basics & the story so far ; ❯
❀ Esther Park ( she prefers to go by Taeha! ) was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii where she lived comfortably with her doting parents and two older siblings, Taeyeon & Taekyung ( cries in throwback ). ❀ She began dancing at an early age ( her parents are quick to tell everyone that she could dance well before she could even walk ) and has been trained in a number of dance styles. ❀ Somewhere around her tweens she found her niche in contemporary dance and continued to train at a local company, while pursuing other creative adventures at her prep academy ( insert montage of Taeha as a cup song acapella kid ).
❀ Taeha's love of K-pop started when her older brother introduced her to all of his favorite groups. Growing up the two were always learning choreography together and annoying their family with roadtrip karaoke. ❀ It was a no-brainer that soon after her graduation she'd be off to Seoul to follow in her brother's footsteps and become LGC's #siblinggoals. ❀ But all her plans came crashing down when Taekyung decided the idol life didn't choose him and hopped on the first plane back to their hometown, leaving Taeha a bundle of emotions. ❀ After two years of adjusting to living life without her brother's immediate support, she's finally feeling like she's got a handle on things ( sometimes... ) and is determined to make her dreams come true.
❀ She's currently majoring in communications at Sookmyung Women's University to keep a promise she'd made to her parents before leaving home. She's not having the best time, and struggles to balance her studies on top of training and work - so if you see her catching a few zzz's in a random practice room don't say anything.
❀ Speaking of work, Taeha's a serial part-timer. Her current gig? Mall mascot ( of the giant pink bear variety ). Just take a coupon and please resist the urge to push her over because she will not be able to get back up for at least 15 minutes.
╰ ❮ ❀ grass is greener where you water it! / personality & quirks ; ❯
❀ Being the baby of the family Taeha's always been pretty sheltered, and can be a bit clueless at times ( she hopes it's endearing? ). Sarcasm goes right in one ear and out of the other, but a dad joke will make her day. ❀ She is also very ( very, very... very... veryvery - ) sensitive. She cries when she's happy, she cries when she's angry, she cries when she takes something out of the microwave and it's still cold in the middle. But hey, at least... Nope, there's no redeeming quality here sorry. ❀ She's always moving. Always. If it's not dancing to some random beat in her head, it's leg bobbing, table tapping, random bouncing. Think of her like the energizer bunny ( on steroids ). ❀ Her proudest moment is the first time she was able to finally hit her whistle note ( and she's done it just about every day since ). ❀ Has a massive sweet tooth and is almost always hoarding some kind of candy and definitely uses it as a bargaining chip for friendship whenever she meets someone new.
╰ ❮ ❀ one flower a garden does not make / connections? ; ❯
❀ Dorm A! I'll most likely come to bug you all individually but definitely give me all the dormmate bonding plots! If she's not crying over a drama or practicing her turns in the kitchen, she's probably going to cling to the first person that walks through door. ❀ 1st-year confidants! If your muse joined anywhere around Jan 2021, they probably witnessed all the water works whether it was due to stressing about her evaluations, cramming for an exam, or being homesick. She'll probably be closer to the friends she met as this time since it was pretty tough, so I'd love to plot out some things around then! ❀ Fangirl hours! Despite going into her 3rd year as an LGC trainee she still gets starstruck. Catch her squealing every time she has a Haru sighting - and no, she won't stop playing Butterfly until a Crystallis sunbae notices her. ❀ Annnnd before I keep rambling on, anything else we can come up with! ( I'll be posting some more well thought out plots to kick off brainstorming soon, but feel free to throw any and all ideas my way! )

Fans surprised by V&A’s AJ and his cover of ‘Life Goes On’ by BTS
On JUNE 30, V&A’s AJ released a cover of BTS’ ‘Life Goes On’ for his fans. The artist was previously showcased on the company’s YouTube channel with his dance cover, and fans were shocked to see him show a different side of himself in the latest YouTube video. Numerous comments flooded the comments section of the video with many requesting that he share more of his different talents on the channel.
[ + / - ] YESSS!! i’m so glad that people get to see another side to aj because he’s more than a main rapper!! aj is a triple threat and this proves that!! please keep releasing more covers, aj!!
[ + / - ] these comments are clearly so biased... ㅋㅋㅋ aj was a bit too ambitious to do a cover of such a popular song and if you compare it to the original, it falls short. he should have chosen a different song. ㅋㅋㅋ

Note
Its funny that Ace is played by someone who needs to attend dance class while the other three, who are playing a character that definitely does not have the title of star of the stars of the stars, are considered triple threats in showbusiness lol
Well that's just how good Kan-san is!
He totally owns the title of star of the star of the stars with Ace.
Especially considering how different his actual personality is from Ace.
He's just a big little guy!!!!
I think the " triple threat" could only be limited to mokudai and Yuna, because they are talented and belong to big entertainment companies.
Kan would also be a "threat" because even he comes from a well off company that is pro in handling toku actors.
Ryuga on the other hand comes from a comparatively much smaller company. A lot of people were even shocked he got a role in Geats because of that.
Kan is also inarguably the best actor among the 4.
The rest are primarily idols so it makes sense but they do keep improving so that's good!
But then we also have the actors for Niram, Daichi and PunkJack even Girori and chirami, they are all stage actors before and they are so so so good! Like woah good!
Stage actors are always on a different level aren't they?!
