Okay now that I’ve calmed down a little (not really), here’s what I’m thinking:

Season 1 is kinda like a prequel to the books because

- Lissa and Rose were completely awestruck by the human world

- Dimitri “has” to follow the rules, while Rose is all “fuck them all”

- Sonya can’t heal Victor anymore (🥲) but he’ll have to be healed again if he wants to make it through the trials, therefore forcing him to try and use Lissa

- Victor will probably try to kidnap Lissa, but Rose will come save the day and decide to run away to protect her from him

- without Lissa, Victor will be too weak to win the trials, therefore putting Queen Tatiana in place

And BOOM. Season 2 will start like the beginning of book 1—Tatiana as Queen, Victor as the villain, Sonya as a Strigoi, Dimitri bringing Rose and Lissa back to St. Vladimir, Rose having to catch up in classes, Dimitri trying to hold back his feelings, etc.

I really liked that he did it in the show, at least her first one. She didn't want a spectacle out of it, she just wanted to honor the memory of her friend, her having being brave to end his strigoi life because her friend never wanted that "life" for him. It was his biggest fear and she made it end as soon as she could.

The intimacy of the scene made me feel like for her that mark is a sign that her friend is now at peace.

I’m seeing a lot of “Dimitri wouldn’t go to a bar”, “Dimitri wouldn’t do this”, “Dimitri wouldn’t do that”, “Dimitri wouldn’t have fun” posts. And I just want to remind people that the Dimitri we know from the books (original series specifically) is biased from Rose’s perspective. She pretty much only sees him in either a school setting, as a strigoi, or recovering from being a strigoi across the entire series none of which particularly allow to show his more casual side.

And don’t forget in Frostbite, Tasha literally references their past together, specifically playing pool, but in general hinting that Dimitri is a lot more fun than he appears to be when he’s Dimitri the Mentor™️. Not to mention we only know him post Ivan’s death which Rose theorises made him more serious.

All this to say, I don’t think showing Dimitri actually capable of having fun is *that* out of character but more a result of not being in Rose’s head all the time.

They try SO HARD to make it look like Bridgerton is it even legal?😑 1) they stole queen's personality 2) unnecessary sex scene in the beginning with characters we don't even know yet. Actually the whole introduction scene was much worse than the actual episode. Idk why they fucked up the first impression this much ;-;

I actually enjoy looking at guardians, they're the best part of the episode🌝

The main problems: 1) songs that don't fit any scene they're used in. Where they even found those cheap 2009 "cool party" tracks? 2) poorly written dialogues as characters introduction. They try TOO HARD to make us understand who is who in that 2007 fanfiction style. That girl is a kind princess so she compliments everyone, that girl is a cool tomboy so she wears boots under the dress, that guy is a bad boy✨ so he FUCKS 😱etc

Good thing they focused on Lissa/Rose friendship! Love these two

Rose/Mason out of nowhere romance... Hm listen I'm not some mad Romitri shipper that can't accept other options (I mean I AM but hush!), but where it came from? They gave us such nice "school friends" dynamic and then ruined it in 5 seconds.

Same for Lissa/Christian. I'm ready for all the ships, just give me some time to start asking for it myself. They don't tease us with interesting dialogues or interactions, they just say "these two are in love👍". Great but where? It would be better if we got Rose/Mason kiss in maybe episode 4. But this is just way too fast for me, not awful, just fast
