ok. Ok. So I really like the Wednesday show, despite having quite a few criticisms for it
specifically really only two big ones that are
a. I think the anti-colonialism feels sanitized, especially compared to Addams Family Values. It wasn’t bad and there were a few lines that got my native dad laughing hysterically so clearly something is working, but I think mixing in the othereds with the message was a bad idea. Please don’t make fantasy creatures into an allegory for native people, especially when Wednesday is already indigenous like it wasn’t necessary! These two themes can be separate! Also I think the werewolf conversation therapy line was weird. Bad line, didn’t really ruin the episode or scene imo but did make me cringe.
b. I think some of the characterization and writing is very off, especially with Gomez and Morticia. Not as off as people are making it seem, for the most part it’s fine, but there Areee some scenes where I’m like. they would not fuckimg say that. (Ex. Morticia being upset over killing the stalker?? NOT MEANING TO KILL HIM???? Ur joking like she would’ve gutted that fucker ages ago and never been caught…) Just some stuff where I’m like well no but actually you see they would love to be convinced of murder. Wednesday for the most part is pretty accurate and is a treat to watch though :)
HOWVERR. aha. Um. The amount of people complaining about specifically Gomez is gross. I have seen multiple people unironically say “oh bring back the old Gomez this one looks like a construction worker” ….. oh yeah.? Yeah what about him. Specifically. Is it that he’s fat and stout (you know, like he was always supposed to be?) or is it maybe that he’s a darker skinned brown man. Is it both? Either way it’s a shitty bigoted thing to say.
So many of the complaints about the show I’ve seen are baseless, or indicate that you haven’t watched the show and just read other people posting about it. it’s definitely got it’s flaws, I mean I just detailed them above, but damn it sorta just seems like you guys are flocking to hate anything that’s popular??

every time i think about laerryn i feel like going feral or going insane. she is just so full of pride and reckless ambition and she is so tunnel-visioned and she is so so full of love. she is intelligent, and unwise, she is dedicated and impatient, she can form the perfect plan but she is so impulsive. she is so flawed and i love her so much for every aspect of her we've seen.

the scene with christopher at the fire station is everything to me 😭😭 him coming along on the call, bobby hanging out with him and explaining what’s happening at the crash scene, everyone playing with him and joking with him 😭😭 it’s so sweet 😭😭😭😭

i don't know man... there are moments tlou show does well (like joel and ellie, and minor changes to the story) but.. the things it does badly are so glaring to me that it simply becomes such a bleak show and ruins the suspension of disbelief for me... i don't know if i could even call this a good adaptation. it's so mediocre

At least Freddy was absolutely unhinged in that ep4 scene with Pekka. Just out of context and analyzing his performance alone
Let him be completely feral pls
absolutely, you're so right!!!! freddy was killing it this season in general. i love to see feral, deranged bastard kaz (dirtyhands), so whenever freddy or the show leans into that part of the character i am very much on board. i like the scenes a lot individually and out of context. it's just a little disappointing that they didn't hit the way they do in ck because the proper build-up wasn't there. in general i am rather frustrated that they rushed through the revenge-on-pekka arc so quickly. it had no time to breathe. ofc they can go into a second round later on in the spin-off or whatever and have pekka come back, fuck shit up, and kaz finish him off for good yadda yadda yadda... but having this conflict that's so important to kaz's character here, in this already so tightly packed seasons that's supposed to be about alina—as a mere SIDE PLOT, mind you—just felt wrong. this anger and spite and craving for vengeance MADE kaz brekker, and to have his revenge on pekka treated as this b plot storyline they just kind of threw in there is so....disrespectful.

the sheer fact that if mike were to take wills last name, it would be michael byers, which is literally one letter from being the same name as one of the most popular horror characters from the 80s, and in a horror show based in the 80s with a whole ton of different 80s references in there!
i mean, c’mon, this is all the byler proof i need
also the halloween movie titles (alone) from 1988 onwards, sort of y’know tell a “story”
