I came across a painting by Gaetano Bellei called 'A Gust of Wind'. I fell in love with this painting as it captured what I wanted to do in this project 'Movement'. In this painting, there is a woman in the wind wearing a long flowy lilac dress. I was really interested in how her dress flows in this painting and the angle she is standing in. The dress flowing really makes it look like that it is windy and hitting her from the left of the painting. It also shows an umbrella on the right and it looks like the wind was strong enough to blow it out of her hand. Bellei really captured the 'movement of wind' in this painting.

Capturing something of the Belle Époque, Bellei painted a number of large canvases which feature elegant women, either set in glamorous interiors, such as In the theatre and Off to the Masquerade, or battered by the elements, such as Gust of wind…
