@kerizaret your wish is my command >:3
So basically this au is an attempt to be somewhat close to the Torpe play as I can (unlike my other Dazzling au where it just uses the designs from the cards). WxS are an unnamed band that performs in a small vaguely British city, Rui as their leader. The Virtual Singers are shape-shifting beings that can appear in different forms to help out the different groups, such as secretly being the animals that helped Torpe have someone to listen to him play. The characters are all somewhat older than their canon counterparts (~22-23), purely so they can do things such as have jobs and live alone.
Tumblr media
Tsukasa Torpe-Tenma is the "protagonist" of this story, the most recent addition to Rui's band after proving himself as a capable pianist. He's somewhat shy and uncertain, yet spirited, and he can be somewhat grumpy at times. Before joining the band, he played piano at the town's tavern often, and he still does from time to time. He has a few peculiar magical abilities, such as light manipulation and the ability to talk to animals, though he hasn't quite realized that these things are abnormal. He lives at the edge of town with his two younger siblings: Saki, a conductor on a mysterious magical railroad, and Toya, a singer and florist. Most people simply call him "Torpe" outside of his siblings and people who have known him since he was a child.
Tumblr media
Rui "Danchou" Kamishiro is the leader of the band, who plays the flute and is the main one that gets them venues to perform at and writes the songs they play. He had initially given up performing after his music was seen as too "weird" but meeting Emu revitalized his dream to be a part of a band. He's kind and compassionate, the crossroads between a dreamer and a realist. He's somewhat teasing at times, but it's all in good fun to make others smile. He enjoys writing in his spare time as well. Most people call him Danchou (director/bandleader) outside of a few people who knew him before he took on that role.
Tumblr media
Emu Otori is the co-founder of the band alongside Danchou, who plays various percussion instruments for them. She'd always wanted to make people happy with music, as her family owns a large corporation that manufactures instruments (think something like Yamaha but old). She came across Danchou performing when he thought no one was around and found herself drawn to him and his music, deciding that she wanted to start a band with him. She's cheerful and optimistic, always willing to try new things to make others happy. Despite her corporate background, she's creative and passionate, always willing to stand up for her dreams. She lives in a large house outside of town with her family, but occasionally stays with one of the others to stay closer to them.
Tumblr media
Nene Kusanagi is an accordion player for the band, recruited by Danchou when Emu encouraged him to start a band with her. She used to perform often, but freezing up while with the first band she was in led her to give up performing. Danchou and Emu managed to encourage her to try again, thus she joined the band, marking the last edition until Torpe. She's quiet and somewhat sharp-tongued, but she greatly cares about others deep down, and is incredibly passionate about music. She also dabbles in writing her own music sometimes, but much less so than Danchou. She is Danchou's childhood friend, and one of the only people who calls him Rui.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The two Virtual Singers that the band, mainly Torpe, interact with are Hatsune Miku and "Fuuga Kaito", the bartenders of the tavern that also occasionally play music (Miku plays the harmonica, Kaito the trumpet). They are incredibly supportive of the band and their goals, and often end up helping them in subtle ways. Outside of the forms they take on when with the band, they also occasionally shapeshift into animals that help Torpe out from time to time, no matter how annoying they may seem to him.
All of the other units exist in this world as well, each represented by a different card set, I might make posts about them as well if people want them.
Leo/need: Live with Memories
MORE MORE JUMP!: Cast a Spell on You! + Re-tie Friendship
Vivid BAD SQUAD: The Vivid Old Tale (before joining them Toya used his colofes design)
Nightcord at 25:00: Insatiable Pale Color + Colofes

rui facts that are common knowledge atp but i just feel like repeating
hates vegetables because of their texture, and dislikes anything that has similar texture to certain vegetables. example: he hates watermelon because apparently to him the texture is just like a cucumber's? he's not very fond of many fruits either, albeit he dislikes them less than vegetables
only eats at places he's a regular at and becomes distressed when the menu changes. he picks off all vegetables from his food and sometimes emu helps him and eats anything he doesn't like
preferred rivers and lakes over pools as a kid. he would search for shiny rocks and the like in these rivers and lakes and show nene his discoveries
he owned many encyclopedias as a kid. one of them being one about poisonous plants. it had a bright red cover that scared nene LMAO but he read it over and over so now he can recognize which plants are poisonous or not
favourite animal is the platypus because he finds the fact that they are egg-laying mammals interesting
owns three monitors. has a tablet (owned this tablet since he was a kid) and a phone
horrible at packing! he's always thinking about worst case scenarios and possible hypotheticals that could occur during his travels, causing him to overpack and not use half of the things he brings. he mentions that this was the case when he went to america with wxs, and he struggled with the same problem when he was trying to pack for his kyoto trip in pandemonium
his favourite show he performed with wxs was the little mermaid. the show that made him feel the most nervous was a pianist named torpe, and the show that left the strongest impression on him was the one tsukasa performed with the others to convince him to join wxs again
dislikes cleaning because he finds it pointless when his room just becomes cluttered again sooner or later
worst sleep schedule known to man. has been scolded by wxs for coming to rehearsal with horrible eye bags
he people watches a lot. very observant of his environment and uses anything that catches his attention as inspiration for shows and other stories. this can be seen in island panic, where he makes up an entire possible conversation between three monkeys he was observing and in the area convo where he views students fighting to buy bread at the tuck shop as a metaphor for human nature and survival
his role model and inspiration is a director named tom gray! he watched interviews of him and read his books over and over
enjoyer of sci-fi
eats his taiyaki by first splitting it in half to avoid burning his mouth with the hot bean paste. interestingly enough, it is said in japan that the first bite you take in taiyaki determines your personality. rui breaks his taiyaki first before eating, making him a "person of action."
he deepened his interest for shows as a kid by imagining how he would adapt his favourite books into stage productions
there's a specific stool in his room that has remained since his childhood. also an orange box of toys(?) It seems
on the other hand, several aspects of his childhood room have changed: his lampshades are in the shapes of flowers now, his couch is patched up in blue, and he has multiple streamers and balloons. the balloons have little faces on them btw. he also installed a clock. the step ladder near his bookshelf is gone too from what i can see
ok that's all i can think of from the top of my head, hopefully none of these are incorrect,, i'll be very sad if something is wrong. if you know any fun rui facts that aren't listed above PLEASE enlighten me

The play performed by WonderlandsxShowtime in the On the stage of dazzling light event, Torpe the Pianist, is a reference to the short story Gauche the Cellist, written by Kenji Miyazawa and published in 1934. Both stories explore a musician and his connection to music, featuring animals as the supporting characters.
In addition, both characters have similar names in terms of etymology. Gauche is likely taken from the French adjective meaning clumsy, and Torpe is likely taken from the Spanish adjective with the same meaning.

' Last dance among the brightest star' + Fic preview snippet under the cut.
[MENTIONS OF DRINKING + DRUGS BUT NEITHER ACTUALLY HAPPENS]
Torpe sways as the leader of the orchestra leads him in their dance together, and when the pianist felt his body tip back he found himself going limp. The tiredness that had seeped into his body making his limbs dangle like that of a rag doll. Why had he been so tired today? It wasn't like he'd gotten drugged or anything, and he surely wasn't hungover as yesterday he spent the entire day practicing with Dancho for their performance today.
He was lucky that this tiredness didn't affect his playing, if it had then that would have caused disaster for the entire orchestra. If he caused them to be humiliated on the Fénix family's stage of all places then he'd never forgive himself. he'd have to change his name and flee the city and never touch a piano again.
His attention snaps back to Dancho, who'd stopped humming the tune that they'd been swaying along to. There's a soft glimmer in the taller man's golden eyes as he smiles down at the pianist. Such a sight would usually make Torpe a bit flustered, but what the Orchestra Leader said next caught him off guard.
" Happy Birthday, Tsukasa-kun." He'd said, there was a longing in Dancho's eyes as he said those words. But the more Torpe stared at those golden windows to the soul the more he noticed the hints of grief in Dancho's expression, it had even been in his tone.
The pianist could only ponder, who was the 'Tsukasa' that Dancho spoke of? The name felt familiar, and was it just a coincidence that this character's birthday seemed to line up with Torpe's own? He'd forgotten it was even his birthday today, but it wasn't like he'd told anyone.
" ...Dancho, who is... Tsukasa?" The meek pianist asked, curiosity leaking into his tone like water gushing into a small hole on a boat. The orchestra leader's expression faltered, becoming sad for a moment before the purple haired man wiped it away with a saddened smile.
" Ah, my apologies Torpe-kun. Just an old friend of mine." Dancho hummed, setting Torpe's tired body on the stable ground once more as they continued their slow dance together. " You look a lot like him, so I was confused for a moment."
The longer Torpe stared into Dancho's eyes, the more he knew that the taller was hiding something from him. But What? Who was Tsukasa? And what had happened to him?

H-Hello, my name is Tsukasa Torpe-Tenma, though most just call me Torpe, the only ones who use my first name really are my wonderful siblings and some old friends.
I'm a pianist for the band in my town, and I also love stargazing and reading. I live with my two younger siblings, and outside of playing with the band, I also help at the local tavern from time to time.
I truly hope that you all will enjoy your time here!
// more info + tags under the cut!
Hello, this is mod Citrus (@citruscitrushope), and this is my first attempt at an rp blog. If I do something wrong please let me know!
Some info about our Tsukasa here:
☆ A bit older than canon, probably early/mid-20s? Don't be creepy with that information though. He's also mixed, English-Japanese because hehe the etymology of the name Torpe
☆ Somewhat magical but doesn't fully realize it, can talk to animals and do some other simple things.
☆ A bit more shy and formal compared to canon, but he can still be passionate and bombastic at times.
☆ Each of the groups in this au are represented by a specific card set of theirs, such as WxS obviously being Dazzling Light
Tags for main posts will be "☆ torpe", and ones made by/contributed to by side characters will be a heart followed by how Torpe refers to them ("♡ danchou", "♡ kusanagi", "♡ saki", etc). Two dashes (//) will precede ooc tags or posts, and they will also be tagged "◇ mod".

I was thinking about nicknames because Rui is always saying things like 'our star' or 'dear troupe leader' and I was wondering what he would call Tsukasa in AUs where he wouldn't necessarily be connected to those titles. Rui is also kind of just calling Tsukasa what he is or what he calls himself.
These are also based on my current wips. Sooooo ask about them at your own peril (i.e info dumping) or add your own. I'm just throwing things out here of what I have currently
Dreamer/Pierrot (yes, they are now the same version): Dream, Jester
Torpe/Lily: Pianist, Lilium (Rui calling him the scientific name for lily just seemed really cute)
King: Lord, Heart, the usual Your Majesty
Knight: Lord, Blade, Tether
Beach: Rui thinks he's funny with Starfish
Yokai: This is still canon Tsukasa so star and troupe leader, but also Guide
Fantasy: Chef, Broker (I'm still putting the general idea of this one together)
Potatoes: Specter, Joker
Steampunk, Hina, Wendy, Kirin, Timekeeper: I don't actually have anything for these guys yet, but straight up Benevolence for Kirin sounds awesome

Rainy Day Duet - Ruikasa Week 2023
Day 4: Bad Weather + Music
(Torpe and Dancho names are used)
Tumblr media
Torpe has an interesting relationship with the rain.
On one hand, he likes the sound of the calm pitter-patter. Whenever he was left alone during a rainy day, he would grab his notebook to doddle some aimless melody as he sit on his room's window seat, the rain becoming his friend when the stars are not around.
But on the other hand, he hates storms with their eye-straining lightning and loud booming thunders. For someone like Torpe, who could faint just from ordering a beer, they are a scary thing. Whenever he was left alone during a storm, he would sit beside his piano while covering himself with the softest blanket he had.
Huh. Was he always lonely during rainy days?
As if on cue, another thunder boomed, causing Torpe to slam his fingers onto the piano keys. He hates this.
"Torpe-kun?"
Torpe let out a squeak, turning toward the voice. Dancho approached him with caution, afraid that he would startle the poor pianist. "Are you okay?"
"Y-Yeah, Danchou-san." Ignoring the way his heart beating too fast. "It was the thunder."
Dancho hummed in understanding. "It seemed that the rain won't stop for a while. Lucky that we're here, aren't we?"
Torpe didn't really remember how Dancho got here. He last saw the director during their practice that afternoon. After that, Torpe walked back to his favorite pub for more practice. It was then it started to rain and Torpe has been anxious ever since. Perhaps Dancho sneaked in when he was too focused on his music. It wouldn't be the first time. The director always found a way to tease the pianist, saying that he looks cute.
"But, in all seriousness, Torpe-kun. Are you okay?" Dancho rested a hand on Torpe's shoulder and the pianist flinched. "You're rather tense."
"Sorry..." Torpe pulled his coat tighter. "I..." He bit his lips. Would Danchou think that he's being too childish for being afraid of the rain? A clap of thunder rumbled again and Torpe shivered.
It seemed that that was enough for Dancho to piece together. "You don't do well with the rain, do you?"
Torpe, face red from embarrassment, nodded. "It's so stupid."
"I don't think it's stupid," Dancho gave him a reassuring smile that made Torpe's heart skip a beat, "it's normal to be afraid of something."
The director motioned the pianist to scoot over and Torpe took the cue, giving space on the piano bench for Dancho to sit on his left. "What do you do when it's raining?" he asked.
"W-Well..." Torpe looked down at his hand on his lap. "I'm usually too...jumpy to do anything really. I-I write some jingles. Have a notebook for it. But..."
This time, it was a flash of lightning, followed by thunder that was too loud as if it had struck something. Torpe, in an instinct, grabbed onto Dancho's arms, eyes widened as he stared at the pouring storm out the window.
He heard Dancho trying to calm him down. His other hand went up and down Torpe's arm. "It's okay. I'm here."
What a coward Torpe is. "I can't do anything..."
"Then it's fine," Dancho whispered, "There's no need to do anything. You're scared. It's normal. It's okay."
"You shouldn't have followed me here," Torpe said. "Now you're stuck here."
"But I'm with you now, so I don't mind."
Torpe just let out a hum, not knowing how to feel about that.
Dancho's hand aimlessly playing some of the keys of the piano. It sounded nice. Dancho's very talented. Not only that he's a confident conductor, he can play a lot of instruments, including the piano. The director never seems to stop to surprise Torpe with his skills.
So, Torpe listened to his playing. Dancho glanced at Torpe just slightly before changing direction. He started playing a song that Torpe recognize. It was a rather fast and grand song. He only played the melody with his left hand since his right arm was held by Torpe, but it still ended up being good. It was calming and soothed his trembling. Torpe could feel himself relaxing, humming through the melody.
"Do you want to join in, Torpe?" Dancho asked when he passed the first refrain.
Torpe blinked in surprise. "You want me to play?"
Dancho smiled. "How can I not play with the best pianist I've known? Unless you don't want to."
Tope could feel himself blushing. "I-Well...If Dancho didn't mind."
Torpe let go of Dancho and put his hands on the piano. He glanced toward the window, waiting for another thunder or lightning to stop him. But it never came. Dancho held his hand in reassurance. It felt nice. Taking a deep breath, Torpe glanced at Dancho, giving him a nod. Dancho nodded back, his smile never left his face.
Torpe started first, playing the first intro and setting the tempo. Perhaps it was the bond between a conductor and his orchestra, but Dancho was immediately able to fit Torpe's pace. Never once in the song Torpe flattered. For everything rise and fall of the melody, every back and forth, and the many time they bumped over each other shoulders in order to play their piece. Torpe could feel himself smiling once again as his fingers danced across the keys. He almost felt disappointed when the song ended.
When he hit the last note, Torpe let out a breath. His heart was still racing but in a good way. "That was amazing," he chuckled.
Dancho grabbed his hand once again. "You're amazing, Torpe-kun."
Torpe looked up toward his director again, his blush returning when he saw his soft smile. Once again, his heart skipped a beat.
Perhaps, a duet with his beloved director is what he needs to fill his lonely rainy days.
The duet I use as a reference is this A Tale of Six Trillion Years and a Night piano duet.

Special Guest: Grimoire Rouge ( @fumikomiyasaki )
Mentioned: Soren Speed ( @/fumikomiyasaki )

=|Your Room|=
The story of Torpe the Pianist wasn't the worst thing you've read, nor is it the best. It was a simple children's story, nothing very offensive. It was really easy for you to change all the necessary things for your assignment. You were done in just a few hours and decided to call it for the night (in the contrast to Soren who probably was going to pull an all-nighter).
Turning in your bed, you saw the blue notebook on your nightstand. A sigh escaped your nose. You really need to give back the book to Akari Asato tomorrow. The thing was you don't even know what they looked like. At least Wakana confirmed that they were from Melodiva, so if you were very desperate you could just drop it off after dinner, just to make sure they are at the dorm around that time. Hopefully, Akari Asato wasn't too worried about their missing book and whatever was written in it. You haven't opened it, of course, just basic manners.
"Stop thinking already." Shifting your gaze toward Rouge who was on your study desk. "You're disturbing my beauty sleep."
"You can't read my thought," you muttered.
"Yeah, but your face is scrunching too much it's annoying." He rolled his eyes. "You look like a simping teenage girl."
Your face immediately turned red. "Why would you say that?!"
"Well, I'm not the one who is still thinking about pretty idols." Rouge's tone was so smug that you wondered if throwing a pillow at them would shut them up. "Is this your fantasy coming true? Or was that Wakana girl your dream girl type?"
"Who said I was thinking about Wakana?" you spat, honestly still embarrassed.
"Well, clearly it's not someone from Evolnation because you never reacted like this. What love at first sight?"
You did end up throwing your pillow at Rouge, but the damn book floated away.
Wakana is just a regular idol, just like Peko and the rest. Sure, she was warm and entrancing and a little bit pushy and gives you the tingles, but she's still a student, just like you and everyone else-
"Don't get too horny over there."
You turned your back against the cackling book with your face still madly blushing. "Goodnight, Rouge!"
.
.
=|Classroom|=
Morning came, classes came and went, and finally, the bell rang. School was over and everyone is packing to return to their dorm. You, meanwhile, were still cleaning your writing supplies and books filled with notes. You didn't even realize someone approached your seat until they tapped your table.
"Hey."
Looking up, you saw someone with quite a feminine figure. Flowing black hair with traces of blue, bright orange eyes, and a friendly smile. You tried to rack your brain for a name, but it seemed that you can't come up with something.
"That diary," they pointed at the blue notebook, "are you going to return that to the owner?"
"You know who this belongs to?" you asked back.
"Yeah," they said again, "Asato-chan has been in quiet distress all night. That book is really precious to her."
You held back a winch. "I didn't mean to make her worried. I found it and..."
"Whoa, chill, dude," the student waved their hands in an attempt to calm your crawling guilt, "nobody here is blaming you. But if you do want to return it, you can go to the clubhouse's roof."
"Clubhouse...you mean the club building?"
"Yeah, that's what I said," they said with a shrug. "When school is over, Asato-chan often goes to the clubhouse's roof for her idol practice routine. It's like a secret place for her."
"If it's a secret then how do you know?"
"I'm an esper."
What?
They giggled. "Just kidding. I'm just very observant." They then turned around. "Well, my job here is done."
"Wait." You stood up from your chair. "Can I catch your name?"
They looked back, smiling teasingly. "I never throw it at you." She chuckled. "But it's Etsumi."
You nodded, smiling. "Thank you, Etsumi."
They shrugged again and walked away. You let out a sigh of relief. At least now you know where you are heading. You can only hope that Akari Asato is currently on said roof for you to find.

I actually have two Dazzling Light-inspired aus, one I've written actual fics about before, but the other I've been brainstorming more about, specifically assigning card sets and stories to each of the prsk groups.
It's based on the actual Torpe play WxS puts on, so they're a band, Rui (or "Danchou" as everyone but Nene and Mizuki call him) being their leader. Tsukasa (Torpe is his middle name, only Saki and Toya call him Tsukasa) is a somewhat magical pianist that can, among other things, talk to animals, who helps at a tavern in his spare time and has an affinity for the stars. Emu and Nene are also part of the band, though they're relatively close to their canon selves. Miku and Kaito are the tavern's bartenders that may or may not be shape-shifting animals...
Leo/need is based on their Live with Memories cards, and are the conductors for a mysterious overnight rail line. Not only does it transport those who have died to the afterlife, but it is also a bit of a safe haven where those who are lost in the world, searching for meaning, searching for themselves, can end up found. Tsukasa and Saki's parents were the original conductors, Saki taking it up later on, with her childhood friends joining her as adults.
Vivid BAD SQUAD are their Vivid Old Tale designs, and are a group of folk singers that run a flower shop to pay the bills. Of course, An's father used to be a musician as well, and the shop used to be Nagi's, with her taking it up after she suddenly left town. She was later joined by Akito, the son of a painter trying to escape his past, and Toya (also based on his colofes design), a pianist with a similar past that the Tenmas actually found on the train as children, the siblings eventually taking him in. Kohane came along a bit after, the newest to folk music.
I'm not fully sure of everything for MMJ and N25, but MMJ are probably student mages based on Cast a Spell on You and Re-tie Friendship, and N25 maybe Mirage of Light? Haven't figured them out yet-
