After exchanging pleasantries with an old colleague, James found his eyes drawn to her. Lily stood at the other end of the hall, looking stunning in her navy-blue backless dress, her hair done half up. The smooth expanse of her pale skin shone in contrast against the dark, silky fabric under the golden lights from the crystal chandelier. She took a small sip from her champagne flute and, even from the distance, James observed the way her tongue glided slightly over her lower lip, licking away the stray drops.

James quickly downed his wine, placed the empty glass on a tray and made his way straight towards her.

"You look gorgeous," he said, treading an arm around her waist. Lily smiled, raising her head and James placed a quick kiss on her lips. Better to keep it short when in public.

"Thank you," Lily said. She slowly moved her hand down from his shoulder to his chest, stopping near his pinned boutonnière and tugged gently on his lapels before withdrawing her hand. "You look great as well."

James smiled. "Not as beautiful as you." When Lily made a sound of annoyance, he raised his eyebrows. "What?"

"You say all the right things!" She threw her arm exasperatedly before sipping her champagne. "It's so frustrating."

"I'm sorry," James grinned, shifting his weight onto one leg, "I didn't realise I was being frustrating."

"You are." Lily nodded seriously. "First, you enter the hall and every pair of eyes are on you - no respect for the fact that you are out of bounds - and you look this good-" her eyes did a cursory glance from his head to perfectly polished shoes, "-that I can't even blame them for looking. And then you go take off your coat and mix a bloody cocktail for the bosses. Folded sleeves and all..."

"I didn't realise I was being watched," he said, winking at her.

"Oh, It's ridiculous. I said 'hello' to all the old lecturers and then sat with some friends for a while," she sipped her champagne again, "but I had to go away because I was getting so turned on."

James laughed, looking around to see if anyone was near. "You are talkative when you are drunk."

"I'm not drunk! Just slightly tipsy, is all."

"Hmm..." James pulled her in closer and tested the waters by inching his fingers closer to her open back. Lily sighed when he drew tiny circles on her skin with the pads of his fingers but pushed him away soon.

"I was already all hot and bothered when I came to the party," Lily said.

"You were?"

Lily hummed. "I couldn't stop thinking about you when I was dressing up. And about all the things you would do to me."

James swallowed thickly. "Lily..."

"I know! It's very frustrating," Lily repeated, not looking at him. "I almost called you up because I really wanted you, but I refrained."

"You can't say things like that in a work party," James gave a breathy chuckle.

Lily pouted sadly. "I know," she said, straightening his tie. "I can't wait for you to be inside me."

And with that she walked away, leaving James to be standing frozen in place, hot under his collar, her final words reverberating inside his head.

i really love elle, and i will defend her until the day i die.

she deserved better. she should have never been left home alone in the first place, and then after she was shot, her trauma was brutally overlooked. yeah i know spencer did try to understand and help her, and i love him for that, but he still couldn't really understand it. also her killing lee was 1000% valid because she knew that he was just going to continue on to harm more women. and she couldn't let him do that. so she ended up sacrificing her whole career that she had worked so hard to get, to save women that she didn't even know, from becoming a victim. and i think that, what she did for them, isn't talked about enough because she technically "shot a guy in cold blood."

anyways, i'm kinda rambling lmao. but yeah to sum that up for you, i'm an elle apologist forever and always. <3

This is Y/Ns literal anthem idec. Sure to me when I just listen to the song I typically feel like it’s more about a breakup since it says “I just threw out the love of my dreams” and “want for him to stay” as in hes leaving bc they aren’t tgth anymore but flip it and reverse it and you get a whole new meaning, if you focus on different words. The first line imma focus on is “never before have I felt this way” well we know that for a fact Why Enn(Y/N I’ll do anything but call Y/N Y/N these days‼️)is literally emotionally constipated like she’s unable to work out why they feels the way they do because they’ve never felt that way before about anyone, esp someone they’re meant to hate. And let’s go back a little to the start of the song when it says “I’m so tall can’t get over me I’m so low can’t get under me” and “I must be made of steel” they also really represent Why Enn and again, they’ve been emotionally inept thus far, they’re a stubborn person and they stand their ground, people can’t move them yk? And then the “for I just threw out the love of my dreams” if we take this in a new light, look at it differently, Why Enn knows deep down they like megumi but they refuse to admit this fact and that’s leading to complications in their current relationship which could COULD ultimately wedge a gap between them. Also the “even though my love is a world a way” is kinda megumi coded bc Why Enn be so delusion I think they be living on planet zog Gaddamn🙏😭

Again, the meaning of this song is absolutely not this, but idk music is music and I’d be damned if it wasn’t up for interpretation. Anyway this song is the EPITOME of megumi for many reasons, first the most obvious part of the song “if you need to be mean be mean to me” this is megumi coded bc he literally didn’t care WHAT Why Enn did to him so long as they acknowledged him, he also just wanted to help them the best he could. Another part of this song is “being with you makes the flame burn good” again, so megumi, bc as I already mentioned he would do anything at one point so long as they acknowledge him. Another line, tbh all of them show the same thing bc that’s kinda what the song is about “you can lean on my arm as you break my heart” again, being told by the “love of your life” (quotes bc at this point it wasn’t set in stone) to not play a joke on them is pretty painful but he still took it and literally bounced back yk like a king🙏🙏

Okay anyway i think this should be more of a message to me bc instead of putting this much analysis into a song why don’t i do this for my literature revision‼️‼️🤣🤣🤣🙁 sorry for the long ask I needed to get this out into the world (or onto smth just out of my head)

Something Else update/thoughts below the cut

I reread an anon ask multiple times over night, and it just doesn’t sit right with me.

Without going into detail or giving it too much attention, if you write in paragraphs with “no offense but” and then say something like “your characters don’t seem very thought out” or “it’s like you’ve changed your mind half way through” after I’ve written….extensively in answers my characters and thought processes for them…then at the end of the day, it’s rude.

I’ve outlined these chapters and given these characters wrap sheets of their emotions and feelings. I’ve done what I personally need to write them how I think this story goes because it’s my story

This specific question had me thinking “But maybe I’m just not a talented writer and so I’m not able to convey those things properly.”

And that thought alone tells me that this story and others I had planned will be put on pause.

Thank you to those that have read it so far. But I can’t be writing this and thinking I suck 100% of the time.

And i really like how you made Sirius and Lily being friends at Hogwarts a thing, right, and so I was thinking along the lines of what might have been different because James didn't go to Hogwarts (Obviously the Lily - Sirius friendship) but it got me thinking about Remus and his Lycanthropy!!

I know James became an animagus (that reveal scene hahaha❤️) but do you have any headcanons for the others? Or is Remus even a werewolf in your universe? Or have you already mentioned and I somehow missed it and am being an idiot now oh no...

First of all, thank you for the lovely ask and for thinking about my story ❤️ it's wonderful to know it's made an impact on you!

Second, yes, Remus is a werewolf in this story and it's mentioned in the fic! I have a lot of thoughts on the whole thing though and not all of them are in the fic, so I'll explain here!

Cut for spoilers!

So, the idea is that during Hogwarts, without the war or James's influence to rally the boys into a ride-or-die group, all the Gryffindors are friends almost in equal measure. The boys and Lily, of course, know that Remus is a werewolf - I haven't decided whether it becomes public knowledge while he's at school or later, but definitely once Wolfsbane goes live, werewolves have no reason to hide anymore.

Which brings me to James.

My headcanon is that James meets Remus and Peter, Sirius's friends, after they all finish Hogwarts and have more freedom to go out and hang out and everything. He likes them from the get-go and is soon informed of Remus's condition, which intrigues him and makes him want to help. Belby (canonically the inventor of Wolfsbane) is a professor in the Academy and has probably been working on Wolfsbane or other similar projects for a while, so James decides that after he finishes his degree, he will get his Archmagicianship (equivalent to a PhD in-universe) under him, working on Wolfsbane. And because he's always had a particular love and talent for Transfiguration, he figures - the Animagus potion transforms people to animals, right? What if some of its ingredients could do the reverse - transform a wolf to a man?

So his experiments focus on studying the Animagus potion, both the qualities of its ingredients and the process of its brewing. And this is what he tells Lily in the reveal scene - since he had made it, and had to document the whole process (which is what's required when someone wants to become an Animagus) why not take it too? And when he needed more batches made, he could have made them himself, but he thought it would be fun if his friends were Animagi too, so he had them volunteer as subjects (since the potion is always made for a specific person, the leaves that have to be chewed and whatnot).

So eventually, James and Sirius and Peter are (registered!) Animagi, and the key to Wolfsbane DOES turn out to be found somewhere in the Animagus potion process, so Wolfsbane is patented and credited to Belby and Potter. James gets his Archmagicianship and minor celebrity status and continues working in the Academy as a postgraduate researcher for the next couple of years, until he realizes that he doesn't feel motivated enough anymore, he did what he had set out to do and by now he's grown tired of research. It's a lonely job and he's been lonely for too long.

So, when he gets the chance to apply for a position at the Ministry - where so many people work! - he leaps to it. And the rest is history. 😊

Though she asks this, she is quick to rip the paper, curious as to what was inside. A loud gasp escapes her as she notices, almost dropping the box. Cutting her excitement to prevent the accident from happening just in time, Emma holds the box tight, pulling it against her chest, elation clearly written across her face.

"No! Way! Where did you find this? I've been looking all over for this specific camera! Abi you are an angel! My very own guardian angel,... with a wallet! I could kiss you right now!"
