I forgot I never finished the day of vengeance final crisis continuation so I just did tonight. here r some highlights

this made me rly happy for some reason, even if I don’t know them all…isn’t it just soooo coool and refreshing for a huge specific hero cast to show up like this in a special occasion.. well that’s hero comics ig jddjjd. there r a lot of ppl here I wanna read abt too.. anyway how silly that only the marvels + traci13 have memorable logos to show off. makes them look mysterious…

“marvel clan” “miss zatanna” they r moeeee. I really love seeing zatanna at work in her natural leadership position bc this portion of the story where they were just rebuilding the rock of eternity felt smoothly run by her. just cool girl things

ok welcome 52 event I get it .. but anyway this kinda makes me..how many times is he gonna hear You Have To Go To SpaceTime Jail for the Sake of the Universe (Real This Time). cue black adam in his 52 reign of horror.. omg I do see the line straight to trials of Shazam but ugh..sorry u can’t make me like how tht was written guys.. idk I’m a hater ignore me

Man do I have many favourite lines, but most of them don't work as single sentences D: So I'll put them under the read more!

💕What is your favourite fic you've written?:

Hmm... Most of my fics are self indulgent... Probably Underground, which I posted on Ao3, but the original version where they're not all JoJo characters! Or Heroes of Sword and Shield, which is my Pokemon x BT crossover. Or Heart's Beat, in which Joseph and Kars fight a stand that uses music to fight. Or the one where my OCs confessed to each other. Ugh, I have so many but I don't post any cause they're entirely self indulgent XD

🥳Why did you start writing fanfic?:

Easy! To put my favourite characters in the same story! I came up with a crazy crossover AU at the age of 10 or 11 and never let go of it. Originated with Sonic, Megaman, Megaman X, NiGHTS and Pit, but now it's mainly Sonic, Joseph, Allen and Mu. It was the first fic I ever wrote actually! Not sure if I should ever post it because it was... a trip. But! It had a lot of lore that I still use to this day! It's somehow still one of my main AUs, and the name has stayed as the Dimensional Defenders for all these years!

📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?:

First of all, I recommend you, @nibwhipdragon, for good Joseph content because MAN do you write abt stuff I only think abt. For Caejose, I recommend Riette! For Final Fantasy VII AUs, I recommend AimeeLouWrites! Also Battle Tendency But It's in College and is Almost Nothing Like Battle Tendency... is really good! I also recommend anything that's on my Ao3 bookmarks!

💛 What is the most impactful lesson you've learned about writing?:

Good question... A lesson from writing? Maybe to be patient and to let the story unfold. Sometimes you'll get a spark of inspiration, and when that happens you take it on full storm!

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?:

Dude I would LOVE fanart for one of my AUs. Alas! No one sees them D: That or fanart for my OCs...

Gracefully, Kars soared through the opening like a bird through an open window. Floating as elegantly as a swan, he spoke. "What the fuck JoJo."

"I need to go to the bathroom."

"Wait ghosts can't-"

"Adios."

The hedgehog looked down, only to see...

Allen's disembodied head. "Hello."

"Oh, hey Allen!" Sonic grinned.

"You named the heartless Shrimp?!" She almost scolded, ready to call upon her magic.

"Yeah, 'cause he's just a small guy!" The heartless in his arms cooed quietly. "Can I keep him? Please please please?"

"No! Now put it down before you get hurt!"

"Do we all need to get clothes?"

Everyone in the room stared at Sonic. A chorus of "Yep" and "Of course" resounded around the room.

"By the power of the Joestars," His sword emerged in his hand and he lowered into a fighting position. "I ANNOUNCE YOU DIED! Wait a minute..."

There was a pause. Then a snicker. Then Joseph, Kars and Caesar laughed.

"NO!" Caesar shouted through laughs as his voice peaked in the Discord call. "YOU DID NOT JUST DO THAT!"

Turning back towards the duo, I noticed Joseph shaking. Caesar cradled him like a scared cat, seemingly unsure what to do with him.

This was followed by Allen walking into his classroom that had all the chairs in test positions. Lovely.

"I'm going to get glitter all over the English block," Allen said, playfully deadpan as he attempted to flick glitter off his hands. He continued in the same tone, "I shouldn't have said that next to an open classroom."

Sonic let out a loud laugh. "Joseph should never be allowed glitter. It's just that he has loads of money."

"Zamazenta likes coke." Caesar stated as if it was a normal, day-to-day fact.

Cloud facepalmed. "And that's how the gang were defeated. They rode into a chasm and died."

Zack whined as Cloud reset from the last save point.

His mind was a frenzy, a blur as he panicked and tried to save himself. He couldn't process what was going on. Without thinking, he used his hand to break the plate.

And then he popped back at home.

Cloud, who was building the house, witnessed him appear next to him. "What did you do?"

Chrom scratched his head. "Uh... Pumpkin...?"

Cloud facepalmed.

The Lucifenian looked at him in shock; even if he was part wyvern, the winds would rip his boyfr- friend to shreds!

It was a bright and sunny day. Birds were singing, flowers were- Okay, enough of the happy crap.

So the fae could talk. Check.

"You took me away from my spring, shoved me in a room, and you mean no harm? Bullshit."

And it sweared. Or, rather, he sweared. Check.

"For a time I thought I would be alone all my life. Until I met Sonic."

"Aww~!" Joseph cooed.

"But now, thanks to my immortality, I live in fear of outliving him."

"Aww..." Joseph's smile dropped.

The swanna crowed. Sonic was quick to translate. "She says you're an idiot who challenged a legendary and needed saving!"

"Do I, Angel-Cakes?"

"Call me that again and I will personally send you to hell."

"Sure thing, Angel-Cakes!"

Heartbroken: Many things leave people heartbroken, including when: - Your friend backstabs you - That girl you likes turns you away - You get married to two ancient beings and your heart will explode in a month Joseph sighed. Just the usual.

In the end they forgot that Sonic stole Caesar's flag and he succeeded in his attempts.

I'd seen the book itself floating around on posts here (the one that comes to mind is abt the San Fran gay men's choir), and I've been meaning to read it and I finally bought it and just finished it a week or so ago and it is IMMACULATE. The book?

All The Young Men by Ruth Coker Burks.

I'm putting a read more here just bc I have so much to say and I also wanna share some of my favourite excerpts with yall because it's just. UGH

this book is perfect. It is magical and heartbreaking and brilliant and MOST IMPORTANTLY it is a testament to the resiliency of the gay community during the height of the AIDS epidemic. Its an incredibly tragic subject but this book is NOT at all (I can't remember the word for this) a book that commodities or glorifies the death and suffering of gay men in the '80s. This book is about the opposite, it is about hope and community and love. There is death, and suffering, and immense sorrow, but that's not what Burks focuses on.

And this book is about Burks. It's her memoir, after all. It's about her time working with AIDS patients who got turned away by their families and their doctors and their workplaces. It's her attempt to protect a community of people who she recognised deserved better. It's not about her being a hero, not about her helping them "despite" anything, and, although her religion ties in very closely to her life and work, its not about bringing God to these men either. Its about being good, and doing good, as much as she possibly can.

The way Burks talks about her work is so delicate and precise that it's very evident that a lot of care went into making sure she didn't step on the toes of the men who she worked with.

OK EXCERPT TIME. I think most of then can be understood without the full context.

This is easily my favourite one. It's not a happy one, but if anyone here knows me well enough from my oversharing in the tags, you can probably imagine why I resonate with this so much (hint: i have a bad relationship with my father and i am transgender).

This is from a chapter about a man she met named Chip, who passed away not much later. I have another excerpt from this chapter (below) that I adore just as much.

I LOVE this passage. Not only is it just. Beautifully written but I feel like this passage really exemplifies the message of the book. It is resiliance!!!! This is Chip talking to them!!!! This is a legacy!!!!!!!!!!!! Chip didn't want his funeral to be sad, he wanted his funeral (and in effect his LIFE) to mean sosomething. To once-and-for-all reject the hatred he has had to endure as a gay man. And Burks doesn't make it about her. This is about Chip, this is his moment, and the only indication that its about Burks is that this story is told through her eyes.

For any clarification, this is a letter Burks received condemning her for having helped AIDS patients, and for still coming to her church (which flagrantly rejects her and her men) after she started gaining attention.

But this passage. This one. Oh, THIS ONE. Another moment where I feel like Burks just gets it. She nails it. It is sad, and that sadness and misery clings to her. But it's a memory and a testament to life and love and joy!!!!!!!! It's something beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is another piece I love. I can't particularly articulate why but I love it. It's kind and idyllic and I can't stop thinking about it. The last paragraph especially.

This is about her trying to get housing assistance for some of her guys. I love the attitude and appreciation. I didn't photograph it but the next page talks about how much of a laugh they got out of the looks they got, and I think it's so sweet how they made for themselves that joy, and how much Ruth appreciates that flamboyance and self expression unique (at the time) to gay men

and those are like all the ones i think i REALLY wanna share. i love this book so much go read it <3

im watching star vs bc i realized i never finished s3 and i still actually like eclipsa but god some parts really make me remember why i stopped watching...like some aspects of the show are really genuinely well written and yet others are So Bad like there’s literal no thought at all and i just gotta.

like!! like ok just gotta get this out but good things are the plot itself? like from what i vaguely remember s1 was Okay plotwise, but it really picks up once the monsters vs mewnians thing is more heavily addressed. like the first ep that spoke about it was the one holiday episode where star is celebrating the mewnian “victory” over monster armies, but marco the human outsider points out that from the looks of the history of it it was less a battle and more a slaughter...like yes! think abt how history gets rewritten and heavily biased, examine yr preconceptions! like how i forget when but it being shown monster’s attacking mewnian towns for food, corn or whatever, bc they’re fucking poor and shit and their populations have been shoved to inhospitable fringes. the part w star’s mom being forced to room w buff frog and him having a board game of like stairs and ladders or whatev but it’s their two groups and star’s mom is like “wow our version the monsters are the evil ones and eat babies or whatever”, like wow metaphors easily digestible and understandable by children!! dont get me wrong there are def issues with like...having a metaphor for marginalized groups of people being Literal Monsters and the hero’s still being the White Savior (veryyy literally in star’s case as a blue eye blonde hair white girl princess lmao, tho less so w marco since again the human bystander thing. humans + mewnians looking the same while the monsters are Othered and even a lot of the still magic dimension but not considered under the arbitrary title of monsters other characters like demons (tom) or the magical high counsel being largely humanoid doesn’t help either) ugh anyway. and star’s development on a personal level is so great! learning to harness her wild side and trust herself while still slowly gaining certain levels of discipline when it’s called for but staying true to her Self. i just watched the eclipsa’s trial episode and that was so good!! star not being Actual Royalty and stuff like yes!! continue to break down those hegemonic values!! fuck yeah! ECLIPSA is so good? i still don’t Get her but if she turns out to be an actual “bad guy” in the archetypal sense the other main baddies have been i’m gonna go feral. like so far she’s Such a good subversion of the historical baddie, the parallels between her and star. her abandoning her throne and everything just so she could be w a monster (sexy), her being still not socially platable bc of her tendencies towards fringe "dark” interests and questionable morality. eclipsa said goth rights! like i don’t mind her necessarily turning into some kind of antagonist at best in terms of her doing questionable things for the sake of forcing a paradigm shift of the status quo (again in parallel with her as a foil to star) ughh this post is long i’m gonna talk abt the bad stuff in a different one instead lmao....but just ugh! lots of good potenital plot stuff that gets hard to wade through bc of the inconsistent / outright kinda bad characterization - character relationships (Largely the bad terrible hetty love tangled Nonsense they ended up pushing) etc....stuff just makes it hard to handle!

aight. the last jedi thoughts fresh outta the movie theater. spoilers ahead

good things !

it was fun. im glad i went. i even teared up at some parts. fun, entertaining, all that good stuff.

I really liked finn and i was telling myself if rose died the movie would automatically be shit and id hate it bc theres no point in introducing her only to kill her off suddenly

rei? poe? good characters. i loved how poe was more concerned abt the lil bot than he was finn and ro s e tho. also liked the purple haired lady! hair goals! scarf goals! hero goals the whole part with her lightspeeding through the enemy ship gave me chills. all silence. that ws the best cinematographic moment in an action movie ive seen in years no fucking joke? i got ch i l ls my dudes

also, luke. lukes whole fcking “everything you just said was wrong” what a fucking huge mood me too luke...best character best . no wait yoda waas t hbest. fuckin, comin in here lightning bolting that trEe s s t dfgdkfjgnfkjgn i la ugh ed and then i cr ie d

the horse-furry things they rode? i loved that part the part w them destroying the casino place made me smile it was good. the birb creatures with chewie also made me rly happy. babies.

kylo ren? hate him. i felt nothing but annoyance toward him and his entire character and every time rei felt sympathy for him i had to look away.i physically cringed away. nothing felt there. that said, he had good scenes outside of scenes besides with rei! eg his scene with luke! that was GOOD shit.

the weird lockpick codebreaker guy also felt flat. like he was just filling a role? and then nothin came of it

i didnt like how they made rei so sympathetic to kylo? not even just bc i dont like him, but idk it just felt out of nwohere, there was little buildup imo. felt forced and OOC. but i didnt see her in the other movies so idk what shes like outside of this one? heard she was better written in the other ones hm

finn im glad they didnt kill him off i was scared they were going to and i was gonna be fucking pissed off but thankfully no

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the whole part w the mirror images and rei wassss weird i never understood what that was even about? uhhhh it was cool effects i guess.

also kylos actor is shitty s oi rEALLY couldnt enjoy him even if i liked his character just didnt feel good

i dont draw fanart of live action things but if i did? rose would be drawn. love her a lot. also carrie fishers scenes made me sad bc i miss her.

so yeah thats my thoughts on the last jedi. 7/10 as a whole, 9/10 entertainment wise, 5/10 plot if im generous i guess

also 9/10 yoda depiction the only reason hes not 10/10 is bc he wasnt talking backward enough. he did but not ENOUGH obviously he took some literature classes in the ghost world or some shit
