*looks around* is it safe??? Sakurai keiwa for the asks *skedaddles away*
Of course it's safe! Or if it isn't, I'll fire up the block button, do not worry
First impression
Oh baby boy. Baby. Main rider-energies but stuck as secondary. I'm sure nothing bad will happen to him
Impression now
Oh well he really is fucked up actually. Love to see it. Pop off babyboy I got you
Favorite moment
I am very fond of his return to the game in episode 12, personally. Also "Ace is still Ace" even if uhhhh things went uhhhh sideways afterwards I love that tiny moment.
Also him opening a can of whoopass on Michinaga was super sexy ngl
Idea for a story
I lowkey want to write my current idea of Michinaga and Keiwa defeating Beroba and Kekera together, but it doesn't fix things, doesn't change things, Keiwa is still Unhinged, things are still bitter. Might still fuck it out a bit. Still ot4 framework because I'm Me. I'm not sure I'll write it, I might! Who knows
Unpopular opinion
This character progression is actually something that makes sense of him. A lot of people are mad at Geats because it's not going how you wanted him to go. He is both an uwu softboi and a complete mess, and like. He always had been.
Also the Daiji comparisons... eh. Keiwa's reasoning makes more sense than Daiji's, lol. But Daiji was literally missing half of his mind.
(I have issues with how Keiwa's arc was written through the show. I found it a bit uneven, even though I do love the idea, I have some issues with the execution. But Keiwa's arc was better executed than Daiji's, in my opinion.)
Favorite relationship
The rest of the ot4. OKAY SO MAYBE HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM ARE ALL FRACTURED BUT I LOVE THEM OKAY
Favorite headcanon
Him being Yuuto's nephew still counts in my heart okay

9 People You’d Like to Know More

Tumblr keeps eating every draft of this post that I write, argh!
Last Song I Listened To
When I started writing this, I was being lazy and letting the YouTube algorithm pick songs for me and I was listening to this song, Unfucktheworld by Angel Olsen. I've been exchanging song recommendations with a friend for a while now and I guess she has gotten to know me pretty well because this is way up my alley.
youtube
But then another song came on--We Ride by Brave Girls (a.k.a. BB Girls)--and that became the new last song I listened to. It's another song that a friend recommended to me. This time it was a friend I've been emailing with back and forth about East Asian pop music. He's a big fan of City Pop, a genre that came out of Japan in the 80s, and he sent me a list of some recent kpop songs that are influenced by/reminiscent of City Pop, including this one. I took to it right away, and it was a big hit with my daughter.

Currently Watching
I Told Sunset About You - I’m just one episode in to this one and I can already tell it’s going to hit me where it hurts. I took a break due to family visits and related stuff but I’m fixing to dive back in.
Moonlight Chicken - I got stalled out on this one just as it was getting good, thanks to some life stuff. I need to pick it back up!
Star Trek: Discovery - I’m a big Star Trek fan and recently rewatched everything from TNG through Voyager, but I hadn’t kept up with any of the newest series in years. I’m so glad I decided to start Discovery because it is shaping up to be one of my favorite Star Trek series. There are a lot of reasons for this. Really great LGBT+ representation is a factor. This is also is the first Star Trek series that has inspired more actor crushes in me than DS9. Michelle Yeoh in a corset! Tig Notaro as a cranky engineer! I’m dying over here.
Tumblr media
Minato's Laundromat season 2 - I was looking forward to this as soon as it was announced, but with the usual anxiety that comes with a second season of a BL. I wasn’t 100% sure about the direction of the season at first, but now it’s settling in with some really interesting themes.
Reservation Dogs - I wasn’t entirely sure about this show when I first started watching during the first season. But not only did it grow on me, it has also been getting better and better. The latest episode, which focused in part on an abusive government-sponsored boarding school (of the sort designed to rob Indigenous kids of their culture), was one of the best of the series so far.
Edited to add: I forgot about Kamen Rider Geats! My family has been catching up on it and we're almost caught up just in time for the finale. I'm liking it a lot more than I thought I would when I watched the first few episodes, but not as much as my partner (who said he thinks it's one of his favorite Kamen Rider series he's seen). I'm really impressed with the cast, though. I'd especially like to see the actors who play Keiwa and Buffa in more things in the future.
Currently Reading
I’ve been listening to the audiobook version of The Method: How the Twentieth Century Learned to Act by Isaac Butler for a while now, but I’m having an annoying situation where it keeps getting returned to the library even though I’ve renewed it. I could just start another book, but I don’t want to! This one is really interesting.
The vast majority of people spend a significant amount of their time watching (non-documentary) movies and TV series, which involves watching actors engage in this specific art form. And we have opinions about what constitutes good or bad acting. Yet most of us know so little about how acting is done, what kinds of theories underpin acting practice, how actors prepare for roles and scenes. I wanted to not only find out more about that, but also dig a little deeper into the differences between approaches and how they’ve branched off and clashed and so forth.
So far I’ve gotten a lot of good background and plenty to think about, even though I’m just getting to the point where the Method/System/whateveryoucallit is starting to take on in the US. I’m guessing it’s going to get even more relevant from there.
Current Obsession
I’m always obsessing about lots of things so I’m probably never going to be able to identify just one. Some currents ones are:
waiting for Utsukushii Kare: Eternal to be available with English subtitles somewhere, somehow
foraging blackberries, making jelly out of them, and baking biscuits to go with the jelly
waiting for it to be fall already because I hate sweating and I love wearing layers
finding my Animal Crossing character some decent glasses
thinking about possible BL/Jane Austen parallels for tumblr posts
finishing a post about psychological aspects of Utsukushii Kare that I’ve been writing off and on for months and that has gotten so long it will probably have to be split up into 3-4 posts
Serge Lutens Jeux de Peau perfume (my beloved)
I didn't tag anyone. It makes me anxious and I think pretty much everyone I know on here has been tagged! Except @porridgefeast, who's welcome to do it if she feels like it but (of course) no pressure.

Daichi witnesses Keiwa and a... floating hand... having an argument.
Daichi would laugh to himself thinking that Keiwa's lost his marbles... then realizes that because he can hear the hand talking, that means that he's also lost his marbles. He wonders if cabin fever from being stuck in the DGP lounge got to him
Then said floating hand sees him and demands ice pops from him while Keiwa is apologizing profusely for its behavior and he decides he's probably better off not knowing what is actually going on

more headcanons? for the geats characters (i always type case because I'm used to typing cast when I actually meant characters)
I do have more. If some are repeated from the last then well oops.
Ace
Ace is actually emotionally distant From everyone. He cares about them but doesn't open up.
Even when you know him, you don't actually know his feelings unless you pay very close attention to his little ticks
He is more affected by things than he let's on.
Even if he knows a lot, he is still caught off-guard but is just a pro at hiding it.
He would have been a great actor if he got the chance
Ace loves spicy food but doesn't have a big tolerance for it.
Ace has a huge thing for cute things so he loves little animals. There are times when he is just sitting and he will attract all little animals to him. (Yes, you guessed it right. Ace is a Disney Princess)
Keiwa
Keiwa does in fact love sushi but he doesn't like putting a strain on his sisters wallet so avoids it.
He was a very average student in school. Did better than average in sports but not good enough to be an athlete.
Kids love him instantly and so do dogs and cats.
He probably broke a bone once in his life.
He would be the type of guy to not have any hobbies and chills by staring off into the sky.
Keiwa is surprisingly talented in dancing but has no interest in it. (Neon still grumbles about it)
He has been dressed up in dresses and skirts before by Sara and enjoyed it. (She looked very happy so Keiwa was happy too)
Neon
She wanted to be an idol because they are very loved by the fans, which is why she started streaming.
Neon always got whatever she wanted as long as she asked it off her dad (🤢) but knew he didn't love her anyway.
Neon has probably convinced her bodyguards to do a dance with her at least once.
She wanted to try colouring her hair.
Her favourite type of music is actually rock but pop songs are better for dancing, so her playlist is a mess between rock, heavy metal and cutesy pop songs.
She also is very good at drawing. And has a pinboard for aesthetics and stuff.
She is the type to make rough notes first and then fancy notes later.
Despite that, she was barely above average in studying.
Michinaga
Michinaga was below average cause he didn't like to study, he could probably try it and be average but nope.
His job at the construction site would be to paint the walls. At first it was that he did murals and stuff but with recent episodes.... He sucks at drawing, so maybe he can paint instead.
Him and Tohru lived together and he was most likely an orphan too or kicked out by his family.
He was delinquent, in the sense he skipped school and had coloured hair.
He can't talk to girls. Not in a loser way, he just doesn't know what to say.
He is good with dogs but cats always end up scratching him. Kids either love him or cry at the sight of him, no middle ground.
How is that? If you want more, maybe you can give a specific topic and I can share my ideas on those.

opinions on the Geats cast now and what are your hopes for the endgame.
I just think they are neat
I love trickster characters who occasionally even fool themselves with their own trickeries. Lies upon lies upon lies. Ace was lying to his fellow constentants, the DGP, his real family too probably, and to himself. He'd try to keep the others at arms' length and act flippant, but still fundamentally a good person. And he really is losing it - both with having let them get too close to him, and just everything unraveling around him. I love him so much. And he's still ready to do anything because all these lives of his, he went through so many things just to find her mother - and he'd do anything to get her back. Anything to free her.
Keiwa is... I understand a kids' show needs comic relief, but I'm just tired of it always being Keiwa, and always after he just seemed to hit some kind of treshold in his character development. But god, I love him. He's just a Good Boy. I love a Good Boy. I want him to break down and snap and and go on a rampage before calming down. He earned it. Pop off babyboy.
Neon is just such a good one, and probably my favourite female rider I had seen so far. The escapism, the depression, the identity issues inherent from finding out you were created for one reason, one reason you don't seem to fulfill anymore. Wanting to disappear. I love her so much and I wish I could hug her.
Michinaga. SIGH. My love for Michinaga is pretty well-documented at this point. I love vengeance-driven assholes. He will set himself on fire to make the world burn, and I love him so much for it. He's destructive and angry, and probably also lies to himself that he doesn't care about anyone else, there are no Kamen Riders, and even there are some vaguely Better(tm) ones, he is too far gone at this point. And still, he wasn't murdering them when he did his culling. I love him.
I love Tsumuri so much and I am so happy she is getting more focus and development now. I love her and I need her to be on my screen More.
Win is my babygirl and I love him dearly. He's just so fucking fun. I missed him so badly.
I miss Sae, and I wish she would have stuck around longer. She was neat.
I am one of the four people who enjoy Daichi's nonsense, lmao. He's so pathetic and horrible! He thinks he is in Death Note! He is so horrible! I love him dearly. It was also funny when he went through Lamentation with basically only chewing on popcorn to watch the drama and did nothing else. I wish he would have done more horrible things - well there is still time.
Sara is sweet. I don't have anything else to say about her. I hope she gets a Buckle, even if not on the show, then in a vcine or something.
Girori was a fun initial villain. Chirami was funny as fuck. Suel is amazing if he really is gonna be the final boss and I hope he NEVER stops being anything else but a floating outfit.
I love the disaster sponsor gang. I love Ziin and his mess. He's a total mess, but I love how he became steadfast, and didn't even turn his back on Ace even though Ace wants to destroy his beloved DGP. I love his character development. He is a disaster blue fox and I love him.
I love Kyuun. I love how he's a socially awkward mess, who always puts his foot into his mouth most the time, and struggling to be genuine. I miss him. Dumb lion boy.
I don't know why people are shocked about Kekera, lol. He looks like a yakuza, dresses like a yakuza, talks like a yakuza, why are people shocked when he started to act like a yakuza too? Of course he will do messy shit to put his blorbo into sitations! And I love him.
Once again I am one of the five people who actually love Beroba, and the vicious violent hatred against her in the tags is highkey making me uncomfortable. My horrible daughter who did everything wrong, and I hope she never gets redeemed. She's just such a delightful and fun villain. I love her so much. One day I will write a character study about her, I swear to god.
Niram sexy. I thought he might have more to do but I really love him, I love the air he gives off, I loved the few times he transformed and his fighting style. That's it. Bit bummed it seems like he won't be the final boss, but Suel will do fine. Niram can just stand there and look sexy.
Samas seems like a girlboss, but I don't know enough about her to really care.
Endgame...
The DGP has to burn. Mitsume will probably die, and the most Ace will get out of her was either a final powerup, or a hug, or both, and not much else. I wouldn't be surprised if she'd die before the end of the show either, with Suel forcing Tsumuri into her role.
(Can you imagine? Suel laughing about "want me too free your mother? sure!" and Mitsume's statue is falling apart, while Tsumuri is screaming and taking her place? It'd be so cruel and I could totally imagine it.)
I want all of them to have one more powerup. I want Keiwa to snap, go on a bit of a rampage, before circling back. I want Neon, Ace and Michinaga all realize they are... not alone anymore. They can lean on each other now.
I want them to henshin side by side, the four of them, for the final battle - just like the Doctor Riders went to face off Chronus at the end of Ex-Aid. Just like the four riders walked up to Evolt before the final fights of Build. I want them to be an united front for the first time, all of them reaching the conclusion that the DGP has to go. (Keiwa and Neon has a bit more development to go through before that, of course. But in the end.)
I wish we would see the four of them remember.
I want the four of them to remember, and being together in the end (well. you know. obviously not Together Together on my screen, but like, in each others' orbit).
I don't find it unlikely that they'd maybe. Forget. Because the story would end with a hard reset, erasing the DGP. I'm not sure if Ace would or not - I wouldn't be surprised if the show would be mean and let Ace be the only one who remembers. WHICH WOULD BE EVEN WORSE THAN BUILD. AT LEAST SENTO HAD BANJOU. AAAARGH.
I know vcines and other movies would fix it, but I AM STILL TERRIFIED OF IT. I would need to write so much about it.
Anyway I want them to fight together, the DGP to fuck back off into the future (Beroba maybe dragged back, to maybe, you know, be a vcine or special villain later on), and then possibly either being in each others' orbit in the end, or at least looking for each other.
I think it'd be funny if all of them would forget (Ace actually being granted the mercy of forgetting would be nice), and yet STILL would end up around each other. Drawn together. But that's definitely just wistful thinking from me.

Keiwa  was with his sister in the Desire Lounge when Decade suddenly popped in and dropped a bag full of something.
Tsukasa: I’m sure you’ll love this, Tycoon.
Keiwa: Somehow I doubt that.
Tsukasa: quickly made his getaway when Ace and the others walked in.
Ace: Tycoon, what have we here?
Sara: The Pink menace just dropped his off.
Ace: Well, well, I supposed I should scout you, Sara-san *turns the book he’s holding and shows it to the siblings.*
Sara and Keiwa: Eeeeeh?!
Keiwa and Sara: ONORE DIKEIDO!
Sara: You know what…
Sara: Hello, Natsumi-san?
Sara: Oh, let the others do it to him to, and end it with Kiriko-san’s Boots of Doom.
Michinaga: Isn’t that a bit excessive?
Keiwa: *growls* I’d argue its not enough
Neon: Keiwa’s right!
Neon: This is not nearly enough.
Then it's a good thing that the girls also have Lovekov on their side... It's their choice whether to have him be on the business end of the zoomies of doom or her Kame Genome (aka: the bazooka form)
Either way, RIP Pink Menace we hardly knew thee

im sorry to burst your bubble... Michinaga's climbing up the ranks of my hated characters... well he's not up there with Amatsu Gai, the only fictional character I absolutely loathe that I made a series of fics where he's beaten up by some characters, who aren't necessarily my favorite, but are good to insult his pride.
Why do you think Michinaga's going to be redeemed like George?
*sigh*
Look. First of all I have no idea why you, random person in my inbox hating Michinaga would "burst my bubble". People disliking a character I love isn't gonna change my mind. I have not met Amatsu Gai yet, so no comment on that.
Also we can't really compare George to Michinaga. George was morally ambigious in the beginning, swung to the good side, then had a breakdown at the end of the show. Michinaga always balanced on the edge then spiralled even further down.
Basically I think Michinaga is a traumatized guy with very bad coping mechanisms, who had to relive the trauma of seeing Tohru die every single time he was invited back to the game. Can you imagine between DGP rounds where he wondered where his best friend was, only for Tsumuri to show up again and make him remember?
I also think there had been enough setup to hint at him having inner conflict about it. Him obviously being worried for Keiwa in the Encounter arc, and even a bit in the Scheme arc, him begging Ace to "make me believe in you" as he died, him obviously not being happy with what Beroba had done to Neon in the past episodes. Man's a mess, he had done dirt, he had done messed up shit, yes, but like. So what? I don't give a shit.
I think there is enough setup for Michinaga being redeemed. I think there is always a chance at redemption. And I love him, and I think he suffered enough that he deserves a happy end.
Also even when he is being murderous, he is sexy while doing it, so pop off, babygirl. Go a bit wild, go ahead. But then come back later, I love you.

I know you don't like speculations, but I was wondering if you feel the tiniest hint of an Eiji vibe from Keiwa. The whole world peace desire and saying "if everyone is happy, then I'm happy." That sounds very much like something Eiji would say. Now it's got me kinda curious to see if I'm right about them modeling Keiwa's character off of Eiji, even just a little bit.
Also, that scene in the opening with the rain reminded me of the part in Zero-One's opening with Izu and Aruto and I love that callback. Has a lot of foreshadowing in it. I'm excited to see where that goes.
How about you? Anything you like or dislike from the two episodes that have aired?
Hmm, not really? I think Eiji's vibe is "I'll help however I can, as long as I can reach them" while Keiwa's is "I'll help everyone no matter what it costs me". Eiji is a bit more realistic about it, while Keiwa still has some wide-eyed idealism left in him. It almost feels like Eiji, but from before the whole ordeal in Africa.
I find it rather funny that of the four Reiwa series so far, only Saber doesn't have a toku rain scene in the OP. Instead we have bubbles and the swordsmen prancing around in a pop-up picture book XD
I'm pretty sure at this point is less foreshadowing and more a stylistic choice by whoever directs the OP sequences. Especially since we actually don't see much of toku rain in series anymore
