They both had a significant other get sick and instead of watching them die #they sort of popped them in the freezer for later. Said SOs then became Androids to some degree (moreso in Three's case) #they've both had the evil alien goop in them etc etc #and now they can add being kidnapped by each other's Alts to the list #WELL kidnapped AND SAVED #there is some saving going on #but to what end I don't know #I'm actually hoping Three stays with Portia for a while into next season - calling home to reassure Two and Five he's okay. #And winding up in long distance conversations with the Android because she's going through some stuff (probably). #If he had to leave the Raza at least he'll be with familiar faces? #IDK... I feel like the show took my worst fear (or second worst. Death is worse) and made it fun to distract me from the consequences. #Because Portia and Marcus know things he would probably like to know. And it'll be interesting to see what the Three-Portia dynamic is like.

So many answers

Back when Five flashed back to Rebecca’s memories right after she escaped Dwarf Star labs on Earth, that lowest point in her life that she used then to defeat Portia Lin, I remember wondering how she got from there to owning Raza. Today we learnt about that.

It turns out she didn’t escape all on her own. And that tech guy wasn’t the only one who saw her as a person. Doctor Irena Shaw helped her. She was the one who perfected android technology and once it was done she went for the next challenge - artificial humans. She helped develop technology that made Two. She helped build her. But then she realised Rebecca was a person. So she helped he become one.

And when she was fired for that she helped Rebecca escape. First by sabotaging DST security system and then by taking Rebecca off Earth. I wondered how she was able to leave, hunted, alone with no money or identity. Now we know she had help from the start.

And seeing Rebecca as a person made Shaw rethink how she treated her other creations - the androids. A thinking beings that are forever bound to servitude, unable to refuse (remember Arrian’s tragic fate?). So she created the upgrade. The way for androids to become sentient. She and Rebecca were provided them refuge and become lovers until Irena got sick. So sick not even Rebecca’s nanites could help her. So sick she became trapped in stasis until help could be found.

For Two this was as shocking as Sarah was to Three. It turned out Two also has a girlfriend in a box (maybe that’s how he got that idea) and now both Sarah and Irena (plus some other androids) are planning artificial life revolution.

It broke Rebecca’s heart. But even after everyone left she stayed. But there was nothing to do and Chase convinced her to leave by taking something to remind her of Irena with her. The android she made in her image to house her consciousness but never could make herself actually download into. Android she believed should have her own life. Android who was made to be human-like from the scratch. Our Android.

She was named Suki.

So Rebecca took her and left. She changed her name to Portia Lin and lended on Raza. And then she became the owner of Raza when the previous owner and his friend tried to scrap Suki and kick her out too. They didn’t live long enough to even properly try. Marcus Boone had a good idea of not interfering with the fight. He had meal to finish.

But there one more thing I still wonder about. Rebecca that lived with Shaw seemed calm and happy. She only left with Suki because there was nothing more she could do. But Portia Lin is murderer, slaver and pirate. She only really cares about the Android (she finally appreciates Das when she helps fix Suki) and a little about Raza crew (still would let them die to get ahead - see the Alternates). Why is she so cruel?

Was she like that with Irena? Or is it because she feels no empathy towards humans? In Irena’s compound Shaw was only human - all others were androids so she was caring but now in the outside world she is among enemies? But then the preview implied that she wanted to kill all others like her (GA would be option if they weren’t in Rook’s pocket and GA would destroy all artificial organisms) so maybe she turned off her empathy somehow? Or was she always like that? Doctor Shaw doesn’t seem to mind murder and violence against humans. She is obviously on GA’s most wanted list too.

Maybe we can ask Alt!Portia Lin? Also now we know why her Android is so loyal to her too.

Also - I haven’t though about it before but did alt!Boone leave his version of Sarah in the pod in another universe? Or would he drag her around with him? Did the other Portia go to that Dwarf Star facility? If she doesn’t have a full scale invasion than is this mission bound to fail?

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE FUTURE (Part 1)

In episode 304 (All the Time in the World), THE ANDROID jumps up to a point far ahead in the future, where an aged FIVE delievers to her a cryptic message on what will come to pass. But before that encounter, THE ANDROID experiences three flashes of upcoming events.

Of those FUTURE FLASHES, we know a few facts :

One of the future flashes will play out in a slightly different version

All these scenes will be revisited in slightly tweaked versions

These changes suggest that the butterfly effect is in play

In Episode 306 a variation of a future flash THE ANDROID saw will take place

1st JUMP in the future / ALT-TWO & ALT-THREE

Considering the synopsis of that episode, it is safe to say that this is the future flash that takes place in episode 306 (One Last Card To Play).

The woman we see on the security footage isn’t TWO but PORTIA LIN and it isn’t THREE, but MARCUS BOONE, who shoots THE ANDROID. Both are visiting from an alternate universe.

2nd JUMP in the future / GRIEF

THE ANDROID asks « What's happening to me? », to which TWO answers « You're crying. It's an expression of sadness. In this case, grief. »

There is only so many people THE ANDROID would cry over and only one TWO would not also be shedding tears for. That would be VICTOR. This will probably play out in episode 310, or sometime after that.

3rd JUMP in the future / ELECTUS CORP

Following her arrest by the Galactic Authority, THE ANDROID is held captive and dismantled by a scientist working for Electus Corp.

This scene is the one with the most dialogue. From it we can assume that we will get a more formal introduction to the Android Liberation Front before these events occur.

thoughts on dark matter 306

the way they played with the whole “evil clones” gimmick was great and worked very very well, but i think the ep had some pacing issues. 

- I am…baffled by their use of adrian and solara. who came on the ship just to….leave?? with barely any repercussions on the team or the plot tbh? and we spend a lot of screentime - at least three scenes - on the ~conflict of adrian deciding if they should leave or not? It seems so pointless. I’m sure we’ll see them again, but why take them on the ship in the first place? 

(look i just wanted solara to stay and also kiss two and i am Frustrated.)

- but yes, pacing issues. i’ve felt that way about a lot of season 2 and some of season 1, but that episode’s structure was kinda not working for me. everything was too loosely connected. Sometimes it feels like a collection of random scenes. they’re good scenes! but i’d like if it was a little more coherent, plot-wise and thematically?? Maybe i’m being too critical.

- as i said, the “good raza crew” vs “bad raza crew” was amazing, and the actors did a fantastic job. They kept surprising me with plot twists, in a way that makes you go “oh of COURSE that makes perfect sense and i should have seen it coming” :D

-i love the loyalty the android feels for two/portia lin. in any universe! 

-i also really enjoyed the fact that every single time she’s faced with a badass woman, two - or portia lin in that case- is like…aroused and charmed. bi space captain of my heart

-alt!android saying she had to gag three and the android replying  “understandable” made me giggle out loud.

- Good lord ryo is losing it. so i guess we’re gonna witness his descent into full-on madness/tyranny? i kinda want the crew to save him from himself. Also! He mentioned nyx, which made me happy

- two bringing five to six was…perfect, i love these three and their dynamic :”) can’t wait for six to be alive and back on the ship, but i’m also…so sad for him. his efforts were in vain, everyone he wanted to protect and guide died. Give him a rest, show.

Deal with it.

I want them to feel accepted if only on the Raza. #And while I'm sure I won't get exactly this - and have Three's interactions with Portia be a way to ease them back from the #we were monsters rationale - I'd like to think the plan is for it to mean something.
