Ive been listening to Secret Worlds a lot recently and I havent seen anybody talking about my favourite part, so I'm going to.

When they sing "you asked me to climb, I never learned", Madeleine and Joey sing the last three words differently. Her voice raises, a desperate plea to be understood, whereas his goes down, resigned and unwilling to challenge what is indisputable. He has already given up, whilst she is still fighting. It really emphasises how far they've drifted, that they can't even find any common ground when they share the same grief, the same regret.

I’ve been listening to amazing devil for years now and even though I heard the songs hundreds of times, I still find something new in them.

In That unwanted animal I just noticed that after the line: “well, can’t you hear the scratching” there is a tiny scratching noise.

Or in Fair, which seems like it is sang fully by Joey, there is Madeleine whispering the line: “Where have you been” before “she’ll whisper” faintly with Joey. What a ridiculous attention to details!

Like who made these people that they decided to make songs this layered! 🥰

I just realised that the Old Man Sleep and The Good Man Grace is talking about abusive parents and coming to accept that your parents will always be the core of you but they dont have to rule you. The old witch sleep is the mother trying to soothe the conflict between father (the good man grace) and child without ever actually solving the problem. This is a four act song about coming to terms with the fact that you will always be reminded of your parents by your own actions but you dont have to be like them. You can be better. This also harkens to inkpot gods and how he will be the man my father never was. This makes sense right?
