Are you ready for the new year? Where are you going to spend the last moments of 2018? 〰️ Our house is a blissful mess today with my mom and kids baking our Vasilopitas (a new year cake with a coin hidden inside that whoever finds it in their piece has luck for the new year). Close relatives come and go, last minute shopping errands, a warm and cozy chaos and nothing ready for tonight’s celebration. 💁🏻‍♀️ 〰️ But this is exactly how it is should be. Exactly how I like it. One Sunday months ago, I was channel surfing on the radio 📻 looking for something to listen to as I work on a new design. And I stumbled on “Comb That River” playing. I literally froze in my track. It was like time stood still and I was alone in a canoe floating down the foggy Mississippi River on the cusp of dawn. It was magic. 🎐 . I went on to spend the next half an hour listening to Josh & Steve share their stories with such humility, tenderness and thoughtfulness. 🙏🏻 . I rarely buy a record these days preferring digital music. The last time I bought a record was 6 years ago. Then I heard @theahernbrothers and had to buy their album in mp3 and the sweetest of commodities, vinyl. . Slow morning. It starts with a first ring of alarm. I slowly wake my body fup rom warm sheets and go straight to the desk to light up my candles. Warm flickering light fills up the room and it make the place feel light and a bit magical, even if it’s still pitch dark outside the window. I have been an early riser ever since, but with a hectic rhythm of big city life it was hard to keep it up. When winter comes it’s becoming almost impossible to wake up with the first alarm. My usual count was 4 snoozed alarms every 10-15 minutes before I actually woke up. This always resulted in a bad mood and feeling of exhaustion in the morning which can’t possibly be a good beginning for a day. In my new blogpost I write about 5 tips to wake up earlier and most important make it easily! I have been doing it consistently for a long time and if you have any questions, please let me know! Today, as soon as the first star lights up, we gonna celebrate Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve in Poland is beautiful and moving. We spend this evening with our family to share special bread, song carolls and eat special dinner. Everyone has to try each of 12 dishes - and all of them on that special night tasty amazing (even herring with onions). . But what is most touching for me, is the empty seat at the table - for the 'lost traveler', but also to remember about those who could not get there to join our family or those who are not with us anymore ✨ .
