This Week in BL - The unexpected rise of cooking crush & seme bjs
Organized, in each category, with ones I'm enjoying most at the top.
Jan 2024 Wk 3
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Thai
The Sign (Sat YT) ep 9 of 12 - I love this show so damn much. This may be my KinnPorsche. It’s just so endlessly entertaining in a perfectly unhinged way. I love that they looped Tharn’s dad back into the murder investigations.
You know kinksters have invented necklaces that can’t come off… right? Just saying.
Meanwhile, would it still be BL if our seme didn’t wake up from drowning and instantly go chase snake?
No. No it would not.
Remember the one hard and fast rule of BL? When a seme gives a BJ it’s penance. Phaya is apologizing to Tharn for leaving him behind.
Heh. Hard and fast. I kill me.
Pit Babe (Fri iQIYI) ep 10 of 14 - How is this absurd creature managing to rise in the ranks? Pavel turned in some stellar grief and ALANJEFF have my whole heart. I make Ikea puns in the... Trash watch happening here.
Cooking Crush (Sun YT) ep 7 of 12 - The make-out montage was absolutely charming and very much American rom com style - interesting (and rare) to see in a BL (not to mention from OffGun. How far we have come since Puppy Honey?)
Meanwhile, another wonderful grandma in a BL!
Next week we do an actual harken back to Puppy Honey, so obviously I’m now enjoying this whole show way more than before. I think it helped that I watched it earlier in the week, when it wasn’t competing with any other BLs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last Twilight (Fri YT) ep 11 of 12 - Not gonna lie, I knew from you all that this was gonna be a rough ep. But I very clearly remember the penultimate Bad Buddy ep so I now have slightly more trust than others in GMMTV on this matter.
That said, this was a crap episode.
You can’t set Mork’s truth and character motivation reveal up like that and then have his lover choose to dismiss him in a way that diminishes not just both character's growth AND all of Mork's actions towards Day, but also our faith in every other character. It was a shitty narrative thing to do to us, and it was a shitty thing to do to Mork. And that doesn’t even take into account the forgiveness allotted by the story to Day’s unrepentant excuse for a mother.  The doom should have been handled differently. The mom shoudl have leaned in even more evil and actively lied to split them apart.
I don't know if they can redeem this misstep in the final episode. But I'm interested to see them try. That said, this plot seem to be true to the book.
Tumblr media
For Him (Thurs iQIYI) ep 8 of 12 - A major trigger has landed. But also it’s clear who’s fault that incident was... and it’s not Him’s. So Blue's so-called-friend really is unhinged. This episode was a little bit more engaging than last week, but it’s only because stuff actually happened. I’m still not sure I enjoyed it.
Twins the series (Fri GaGa) ep 12fin - Despite the fact that I’ve been annoyed by the show the last couple of episodes, I’m still sad for it to end. It was a good reveal and First had the right response. Also a very sports way to end it. Sprite is a v clingy bf.
In brief?
A messy very Thai pulp sports romance that actually managed to involve sports in an identical twins trading-places plot. Basically Not Me meets HIStory 2 Crossing the Line (although vastly inferior to either) with an endearing main character and a good lead pair (poor things), both soapy and earnest without too much camp. It tried so hard but the plot, side couples, and extraneous characters let us down. Passable if not great. 7/10
Time the series (Thai Gaga) ep 2 of 10 - Eh. Whatever.
My Universe (Sun iQIYI) ep 22 of 24 - skipped this installment
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Although I Love You and You AKA Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka (Japan Gaga) ep 2 of 10 - Funny how quickly he retracted that confession and everyone called him out for doing it too soon (including me from a narrative beats perspective). It was a cute screw up - I see what your meta-arse is doing there, Japan. Also our Tokyo-boy’s serious reserved earnestness is extra adorable in the surrounded by Osaka enthusiasm context. His accidental flirting is that much more heart wrenching for our poor baby seme.  And they ended this ep with honorific negotiations!! Be still my heart. I’m really adoring this show.
Your hyung romance super fan is back in the game!
Meanwhile the Osaka accent is beyond adorable.
Sahara-sensei to Toki-kun (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 6 of 8 - Japan what are you doing? I do love the not-sorta-ex from the past.
VIP Only (Taiwan Fri Gaga) ep 10fin - I loved all the young people in the hawker center supporting the campaign against the terrible mother. They make a good domestically sappy couple. But that is Taiwan's specialty.
In brief?
A sweet if aimless story about a writer and a chef finding love via noodles, fake dating, and family challenges. If it had a tighter script and a shorter run, more like a KBL this might’ve been quite special. But it didn’t and it lost me too many times. 6/10
I don’t like to be disappointed by Taiwan.
Tumblr media
It's done: I Need to Catch up
What Did You Eat Yesterday Season 2 AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta? Season 2 (Japan Gaga) 10 eps - will binge when I have any spare time. 2024 is crazy busy for me so far.
The Servant and the Young Master - from Vietnam so I assume it's on YouTube. I never even noticed. Anyone?
Began Beginning (Myanmar YouTube) - Is TRUST Entertainment bringing us the first ever Burmeses BL? I don't know if it's really the first, but @heretherebedork vouched for it, so I will give it a watch through.
Tumblr media
It's Airing But...
[INTERNATIONAL] Cherry Magic (Sat YouTube) ep 3 of 12 - yeah Japan put the smack down on our boys. Sadness. You can use a VPN if you like. Read all about it here.
Beside You (Thai YouTube) - a 3 sp short that's supposed to have started but I can't find it.
Ossans Love Season 2 (Japan Gaga) - 5 years later, will anything have changed? This is Japan so… probubly not. I won't be watching this. I disliked Season one and actively hated the follow ups. No thank you.
Playboyy (Thurs Gaga) 14 eps - Dear Playboyy, it's not you, it’s me… I hate you. You’re about as deep (and as palatable) as a shot glass of cum. While I'm sure you’re someone’s kink, you're my weakest link. Goodbye. I DNFed this at ep 5. Frankly I'm impressed with myself for getting that far.
The Whisperer (Sun ????) 10 eps - Ends next week. Thai horror BL that ALSO involves cheating (what joy is mine). I don't think even the perfect single dimple can motivate me to watch. Word is... it's terrible.
7 Days Before Valentine (Weds WeTV) 10 eps - Giving me Luminous Solution vibes. I'm waiting to binge if safe.
Dead Friend Forever (Thai Sat iQIYI) - horror, meh, tell me if it's worth my time?

Top 5 BL KISSES of 2023!
You’re so cool! Love you! 😘
💋
Love this question, but I tend to be really really in love with the like smaller kisses in shows some times cause of the #tenderness and #domesticity, but since there are so many good kisses and you think I'm cool, I'll give you 5 big and 5 small kisses 😘
5 Big Kisses
The Ultimate Winner- Yai and Jom, I Feel You Linger in the Air, Ep 7
Tumblr media
What a phenomenal way to break the tension. Bright and Nonkul cycled through so many emotions in this entire scene fleeing the party, and I remember how well done this kiss was not only for the kiss itself but because everyone I knew was tense as hell seeing these boys kissing out in the open where anyone might see them.
Ray and Sand, Only Friends, Ep 2
Tumblr media
Again, love or hate Only Friends does not matter to me, but I was absolutely obsessed with this kiss for quite awhile because I love the visual metaphor of things heating up between Sand and Ray by having smoke pour out of their mouths around the kiss. Like they were literally smoking hot, and I thought that was cool as fuck.
Yamato and Kakeru, I Can't Reach You, Ep 8
Tumblr media
So many chances to lock lips, so many interruptions, and finally, fucking FINALLY that curtain came around both of them and the possible interruptions didn't matter any more. If you are going to save any kissing until the very last episode, this is how it should be done.
Lom and Nuea, Wedding Plan, Ep 6
Tumblr media
I'm just going to leave this here. I really loved their sex scene in this episode. The Me Mind Y boys have some killer sex scene game.
King and Uea, Bed Friend, Ep. 9
Tumblr media
gif by @gunsatthaphan
There are a near infinite number of KingUea kisses that I love with my entire being, but I think what takes the cake for me with this kiss in the bathroom in Episode 9 is the teasing, begging, and nuzzling. Like it just feels so familiar, domestic, and still full of desire and I appreciate that these boys getting together did not decrease their sex drive over time like a lot of BLs tend to do.
5 Small Kisses
King and Uea, Bed Friend, Ep. 4, 6, & 9
Tumblr media
gif by @gunsatthaphan
I love boys that simp for their boyfriends, and though King and Uea are not officially boyfriends yet, these little moments, the little kisses and stuff really make King's interest in Uea feel real, and it's cute as fuck. I also love that Uea mirrors this kiss near the end of the show.
I also love the forehead kiss that Uea gives King during the pet play scene in Episode 6. I don't know why but it just feels almost sacred in a way, similarly to the Ep 4 kiss, the smaller quick kisses feel like something beyond just a casual hook up or friends with benefits situation. Now, we should know King has been interested in Uea for year, but he really starts leaning in to that around the time that I'm pretty sure Uea's feelings for King really start to solidify, and coming out of that pet play scene, these two are ready to be boyfriends. So I just love that little moment
And Ep 9 I love the forehead kiss that King plants on Uea after his stepfather is arrested. I just love Uea resting his head on King's shoulder, and King running his thumb across Uea's knee to comfort him, it feels domestic.
Han Baram and Im Han Tae, Sing My Crush, Ep.
Tumblr media
gif by @wanderlust-in-my-soul
IM HAN TAE DOES NOT EVEN REALIZE THAT HE HAS ROMANTIC FEELINGS FOR HAN BARAM HERE. IM HAN TAE IS FULLY JUST ACCIDENTALLY TORTURING THIS POOR, SAD GAY BOY! But I love this kiss so much, it's so sweet, it's so much fun, and you know what Han Baram deserves little kisses like this.
Phaya and Tharn, The Sign, Ep. 3
Tumblr media
gif by @crispywizardtale
These two are so obsessed with each other it's disgusting. It's also the first real kiss they've had in 5 episodes and I found it very fun and sweet. Phaya said "oh you seem to be struggling to actually tell me you like me, let's kiss about it" and honestly, love that for him.
Tinn and Charn, Laws of Attraction, Ep 7
Tumblr media
gif by @spicyvampire
Okay so this is technically not a kiss, but it is one of my favorite TinnCharn moments so I am counting it. Thank you for older gays, and also thank you for having fun and being playful with each other after sex. I love when people do stupid shit like this, and Tinn is just the biggest loser and he deserves to bite Charn as a little treat.
Shin Ki Tae and Lee Wan, Our Dating Sim, Ep 6
Tumblr media
gif by @hanjiwoos
THE GIGGLES
THE GIGGLES HE GIGGLED
This scene was so sweet and I really really need to rewatch this show.

I've seen many comments on what Tharn should've done. That he should've fought Chalothon. That the drama did him dirty and took away his agenda. Etc. and so on. And I must say that all of this feels like a very Western approach to the whole thing - and I say that as a Westerner myself.
Because Tharn in the show is the embodiment of Buddha's teachings on compassion and non-violence and their correct application in life. Because Buddha taught that hatred and other negative feelings lead to suffering. Violence creates more violence which leads to more suffering. The only way out of suffering is through compassion and non-violence. And that's exactly how Tharn managed to break their karmic cycle.
And that it happened off-screen? Yeah. Would I have loved seeing it happen? Yeah. But HOW do you show the application of compassion over the course of a whole year in an engaging fashion? It's certainly interesting to contemplate. The conversations they must've led day by day must've been truly interesting. But - for a regular TV viewer? I don't think so. Your regular Joe would get bored to tears. What works in a book, doesn't work on-screen. So it was a smart choice to leave all of that out and follow PHAYA's side of the story, his grief, the impact of Tharn's return was greater that way.
Also, speaking of the book. The drama actually chose a smarter and much more realistic approach to changing Chalothon's mind. In the book, it took exactly ONE (1!) conversation and Chalothon went all, "You're right, my bad." I kid you not. In the drama, it took Tharn a whole YEAR to change Chalothon's mind and to save him from himself, from turning into a monster which was a real possibility for him, like the abbot warned him. But through compassion and a non-violent approach to the whole thing, Tharn managed to break the cycle and end all of their suffering. Which is exactly what Buddha taught.
Would I have loved a flashy ka-boom ending? Yes. I love me my big explosions! But that would've simply caused more bad karma for their future. And that would not have worked within the cultural settings of the story.

I know I keep talking about Tharn and how wonderful he is, but I also have to say something about Phaya. Who is, on reflection, a perfect example of a "manly man"✨, the main character of an action movies, who works for me for once. He's also one of the few action/adventure/crime MLs that I find really hot and attractive, something other productions almost never achieve. Why? Because - I say this only from my perspective - what the producers THINK will be attractive to me is completely different from what I actually FIND attractive.
Phaya is a classic male hero, but he takes classic patterns of masculinity and reworks them in his own way.
Phaya looks very masculine, but in a way that I like. He's muscular, but not too much. His muscles were developed through martial arts training, sparring, something that is related to his hobby and work, not worked out just for being muscular. We see him determined and focused when he goes through training, but he also has fun sparring with his friends, instructors, WITH THARN (that's a completely different story 🔥). We see that he likes healthy competition, that he has ambitions, but he is focused on improving himself, not on proving to others that he is better than them. Phaya has a healthy approach to his body, to competition and to sports.
I like that Phaya takes care of himself, that he tries to look good (especially for his crush), BUT AT THE SAME TIME he has no qualms about finding the most embarrassing matching shirts and persuading said crush to put them on and casually stroll around the tourist area town, looking like a funny, old married couple. Phaya has a healthy attitude towards his appearance and how people perceive him (he doesn't give a fuck). The most important thing is that Tharn is by his side. In a matching shirt.
I like how active and task-oriented Phaya is, that he recognizes his own or any other problems and just does something about them. Suspicious murder? Phaya starts ivestigating. Strange dreams? Phaya has been researching it all his life, now he's going to the place where he can find answers. Tharn is not answering his calls? Phaya doesn't get offended, he doesn't create scenarios in his head, he just goes to Tharn, confronts him and comes up with a creative way to relax the stressed Tharn. Phaya acts, does research, has no qualms about asking for help and accepting help. Phaya is a pack animal, not this lone wolf bullshit.
I absolutely love how open Phaya is with his feelings, with himself. Friends? Grandmother? The Abbot? THARN? Phaya doesn't hide anything. When Tharn asks if he's feeling ok at the festival, Phaya tells him about his troubling feelings, he doesn't hide behind a straight face and "I'm fine." Phaya is not afraid or ashamed of his feelings or talking about them. Or admitting weakness, feeling bad or even fear.
what deserves a special mention is how open Phaya is about his interest in Tharn - towards Tharn and the rest of the world. Phaya is like "Tharn, I'm so interested in you and I want you to know it". And if anyone else sees this, it's not his and Tharn's problem, it's the world's problem, because Phaya is too busy with Tharn, who is all delicious right there, to worry about the rest of the world. Phaya is a grown man who knows what he wants and currently wants Tharn and to be a good cop and solve the mystery of his dreams and he will not waste his energy and time on proving his worth or anything else to the world.
Phaya has his own life BEYOND the romanse. He has a job, ambitions, a family, a home, his art, interests, and his own personal problems to face. Tharn is a part of his life, a new part, because Phaya existed as a person before Tharn.
I also like how Phaya treats his sexuality, namely he is completely ordinary and normal about it 😀 No issues, no trauma, no internal conflicts, no "finding himself", no crisis. I like the fact that he is pushy with Tharn, and although I'm normally not a big fan of kisses "without warning", it doesn't bother me in this case because Phaya is completely aware that Tharn likes him "that way". Tharn is flirting heavily with Phaya and they already had their almost kiss, so Phaya didn't cross the line with him. Besides, Tharn is also a grown man who can read Phaya's intentions, and he kissed him first - twice 😂 Phaya's sexuality is not a problem in this story, he is very simple about it.
Phaya is the kind of action hero that simply suits me. He seems to fit the type: he's aggressive, cocky, talented, smart, inventive, handsome and athletic. But he is also - in a quite ordinary way- nice, caring, friendly, supportive and helpful. He doesn't put himself in the center, he doesn't make everything about himself. He's also very funny, doesn't take himself seriously, can be a classic dudebro, goes to parties where he plays stupid games 🍾 and he is open with his feelings. He is naturally, effortlessly cool, but sometimes he is a bit pathetic and doesn't get everything right.
For me, Phaya is Phaya from the scene in the tub of icy water, hugging and supporting Tharn (because he wants BOTH of them to pass this test), it is Phaya from the scene in the bathroom, super sensitive to Tharn's mood, it is Phaya visiting tourist attractions with his crush and tucking him in to sleep. This is Phaya knowing when he can allow himself more with Tharn and knowing when to stop. This is Phaya who doesn't lie to Tharn, who seduces him, gives him time, gives him space, but at the same time leaves no doubt about how he feels about him and makes sure that Tharn is aware of it. It's Phaya intoxicated by Tharn's closeness and also coming up with cute nicknames for him.
Phaya is a classic model of masculinity without all the toxic, violent, stupid alpha bullshit, but with self-awareness, true personal freedom, the ability to function in a relationship, a family, a team, society, readiness for self-development and emotional maturity. He is a natural leader who can apologize to his teammates. Phaya redefined the male action hero type and I love him for it 💖

thinking so many thoughts about The Sign today and i realized something somewhat interesting.
there are actually very few instances where Tharn initiates any kind of physical contact with Phaya, and even less so that aren't some form of teasing or retaliation.
the only times we see Tharn initiate sober physical contact with Phaya are:
ep 2 - to get his attention as they sneak into the office ep 2 - a teasing shove ep 2 - cap tug revenge ep 2 - bro fist bump ep 3 - naga fireballs, shoulder touch and thigh touch ep 3 - teasing shove ep 3 - totally not a date ep 4 - saving Phaya from the killer ep 4 - after fight first aid x 2 ep 4 - before Phaya initiates a fight
if we take out the teasing, typical rowdy dude behavior touches (and ones shown in a quick montage with no context) we're left with just a few meaningful ones:
ep 3 - naga fireballs, shoulder touch and thigh touch ep 4 - saving Phaya from the killer ep 4 - after fight first aid x 2 ep 4 - before Phaya initiates a fight
what do all of these touches have in common? Tharn initiates each and every one of these touches out of concern for Phaya. (you can also argue the shoulder touch as they sneak into the office is out of concern for Phaya's safety while he sneaks around, but that one is a little iffy and hard to tell imo)
when Tharn touches Phaya during the fireball scene he first touches his shoulder to point out one of the fireballs but later he touches him again on the thigh and asks if he's feeling better.
of course, we then see Tharn touch Phaya to make sure he's alright as the killer runs away.
next, we have two touches in quick succession - one while Tharn is helping apply first aid to Phaya and then again when Phaya talks about dying.
the last, and saddest, is when he touches Phaya's wrist after seeing him at the punching bag. again, he touches Phaya out of concern, wondering what could be wrong to put him in this kind of rage.
fuck Tharn just cares so fucking much and is so unbelievably careful with Phaya. they make me want to chew fucking glass, affectionately.

I love Yai so much.
Tumblr media
He's so protective & loyal. I really want to know who he was in the past life, because they implied all the friends are connected! Has he always been Tharn's loyal friend?
Also Phaya hitting Tharn was such a dick move. But it does seem like his anger might be beyond normal - I forget who theorized that Chalothon might have had some sort of supernatural effect on him? But it seems very plausible. It's an effective way to keep them apart.
Damn, I just love the way they stage shots in this show.
Tumblr media
Ha, I knew it! They never show someone that much in the background unless it's for setup.
Tumblr media
Also I love that when Tharn said his name, Phaya popped his head around to look at him all "wtf?".
Ok, I know he's a killer, but also - hot damn.
Tumblr media
Gotta say, as much as I don't love cops as protagonists these days, I like that the show is calling out that cops can easily be criminals, and the justice system is fucked.
Tumblr media
Whoa...possession?
Tumblr media
Ok, so now I'm wondering if he was killing because something out there fed his anger to the extreme...kinda like what happened to Phaya, but over a longer time.
Omg! The look of horror! This is sooooo Chalothon y'all!!!
Tumblr media
The feeeeeels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am weak.
Ugh. This guy is annoying me.
Tumblr media
Keep questioning the system boys!
So the cop/hero stuff is blech, but I do find the parallel they're setting up here interesting.
Tumblr media
Tharn, baby? Did you forget about all the people saying you've done wrong in your past life?
Lol, not Phaya prepping to make a move!
Tumblr media
Either a whole lot of lights appeared out of nowhere or this is another fantasy sequence.
Tumblr media
GODDAMMIT.
Look, I do appreciate we're getting some nice spicy moments to tide us over until they hook up in real life, but also - we need some real life smooches!!!
Ha, Tharn is a realist. I always think the same thing with wound-blowing scenes!
Tumblr media
Gonna have to bring your fantasies to life some other way Phaya!
Oh damn!
Tumblr media
Love what Heng is doing with his jaw, it's so suggestive of a snake about to unhinge.
Check the bingo card, obligatory sponge bath!
Tumblr media
Lol, Phaya's "is this really happening or is this another horny daydream?" face.
Tumblr media
Sibling relationships are so relatable, no matter what culture you're from.
Tumblr media
OH DAMN!!
Tumblr media
I still have no idea what's happening here, but I love it all the same.

My memory is terrible so I wanted to do a breakdown of my stuff every once in a while. Might be monthly, might be whenever I feel like it.
BL - Currently Watching
7 Days Before Valentine [11/12] - Unlike some other shows, this one is actually getting better towards the end. I appreciate that Sunshine did some self reflection and became a better human being and I really enjoy the visuals here. Also, 7 days before valentine we will watch the finale, so that's neat.
Cherry Magic Th [7/12]– I like what the thai version is doing with the source material, I think they are being really smart and I'm so happy I got to watch the shopping date and the helicopter ride that were missing from the japanese live action.
Cherry Magic Anime [4/12]– I'm enjoying all the parallels way too much. Part of me wishes that it had stayed closer to the manga but since I get that also from Thailand, I can't complain.
Cooking Crush [9/12]– My expectations weren’t as low as maybe other people because I'm a OffGun fan but I am enjoying this show way more than I thought. It’s so refreshing to see good communication and well rounded characters that are given the space to work stuff out and be honest with each other. I feel for Samsee, cause, been there.
Dead Friend Forever [6/12]– this show continues to surprise me every week. I’m a big horror and slasher fan so for the premise alone I was gonna watch it. But I’m liking the way they chose to structure this story, moving from the slasher bit to the past at that moment was really smart. The visuals are so strong in this and I’m enjoying the communal murdering impulses towards the original friend group.
Ossan's Love Returns [3/12] - It’s chaos but the kind that only Japan can get away with for me. That season opener alone would’ve made me stop watching if it wasn’t for that. But the thing about these characters for me is that they get to be this ridiculous because it’s all grounded in such heart and kindness towards each other. It's a balancing act that only Japan can deliver at this level.
Playboyy [10/14] – I applaud the effort to make something new and out of the bl box, I think the show is trying to talk about interesting things and there are moments where the visuals are very strong. However, the acting is the weakest part of the whole thing and so I cannot connect to the characters, which leaves the whole experience kinda empty for me.
Although I Love You, and You? [3/10]- Japan my beloved. What’s there to say? Sakae is my new favourite boy and I’m really enjoying these two bridging the gap in their personalities.
The Sign [10/12]– Phaya and Tharn are delightful. Yai is the bestest boy ever. But there’s too many loose threads considering we only have 2 episodes left. There’s still to much going on and the investigation part of it just seems too disconnected for me to care. I really hope they're not counting on a special or a second season to wrap this up.
BL - Finished
Last Twilight – No need to repeat myself. here and here
Love for Love's Sake - What a wonderful surprise this was. Yeo Woon is one of the most adorable characters of all time and I seriously cannot handle it. From the beginning there was always a cloud over the whole story and I think in the end it all came together really well, to give us a happy ending that feels earned. Also really appreciated the way the story dealt with the triangle. Most of the time I hate them with a passion so I was really happy that Sang Won didn't just disappear and stayed in the group and kept teasing Yeo Woon. And now I'm just suppose to move on?
Night Dream – I liked the beginning a lot, but, as it’s becoming increasingly frequent, it dipped as it approached the end and although I liked how it finished I wasn’t a fan of the path to get there. Time skip once again not used well.
Sahara Sensei to Toki-kun - I have not seen the finale yet but I didn't want to wait so I might update this post when I watch it. However, Toki is my favourite boy, and I just want him to be happy.
VIP Only – Cute but ultimately forgettable.

So this month I started my journey into older jbl stuff in order to have a bigger understanding of the landscape and what came before. With the help of the amazing @twig-tea I've started this journey with 2 films: Ai no Kotodama (2008) - Such a wonderful way to start this adventure. Really enjoyed this film. Without spoiling it, I understand that the beginning of the film might turn some people off of it but I think it's actually really smart and purposeful. I would definitely recommend it.
No Touching At All (2014) - Also really enjoyed this one. The direction is really interesting I thought. I feel it's all very intentional and it reflects very well the characters state of mind.
And because Cherry Magic opened the anime gates I also watched:
Tumblr media
Given (2019) - This is SO GOOD. This show rewired my brain. Just now I was listening to THE SONG and I got emotional again. Every once in a while I enter this mindset where I feel like nothing that I watch can surprise me anymore. Then I watched this show. My thoughts after watching can be found here.
Not BL - Watched this month

Well, that's it I guess. Now I have to go and make some Love for Love's Sake gifs because I just can't move on and need to live there a little longer. Speaking of gifs, I'm always happy to take gif requests so let me know.

The Sign Commentary Review Ep 4
Tumblr media
We start off with a bang, staring at a woman's scared face. Ah, she's being interrogated by Phaya. Okay, so the whole investigation is a bit triggering for me, so I'm watching, but my only commentary is if he sexually assaulted someone and then is being victimized himself. Well, I'm okay with that.
Yai and Sand! Yai is such a drama king and I adore him for it.
Oh, someone is still playing hard to get. And apparently that is not limited to just Tharn, but also Thong. The way Phaya grabs Tharn and drags him is cute.
Tumblr media
This just looks yummy! Haha! The way Phaya is getting annoyed about Tharn talking about the case is hilarious considering how one tracked mind he used to be. Now he is just trying to go on a date with his baby and Tharn is drawing a line. Business only.
Who is this woman that Tharn has bumped into. She's wearing Naga jewelry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Your life is short. You were supposed to be dead since when you were young. But your parents gave you to the Abbot... To extend your life and try to change your destiny. That’s why you’re still alive today. But young man, I warn you. You must look out for those whom you’ve wronged in the past life. They are very near. They are coming to take your life."
I love how Tharn's face says, tell me shit I don't already know, lady. She then turns to warn Phaya who had been doing an amazing job of looking like he wasn't there. He's like, I just want to eat. Why won't anyone let me eat!
Woman disappeared. Just poof. But then we see her and she is clearly Naga.
Phaya are you really concerned about Tharn or are you trying to get in his room? Him thinking over what the woman said and it's matching the Abbott. And to be honest, it matches with what he wants, soooo...
Oh, Tharn has a vision of Phaya getting stabbed right when we hear the doorbell, which we all know is Phaya. His excuse is his bike isn't working. You're a cop dude and that's the best you could come up with. I hope you at least let granny know.
I love the way Phaya pushes the envelope and always causes Tharn to back up. These two are hilarious. I really enjoy the clearly macho humor thrown in. I enjoy shows where one love interest isn't macho, but this girl likes variety and is enjoying the different nuances to this show.
Tumblr media
Poor confused Tharn. What wait, is this real? It has a dream like quality. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn, good dream Tharn. Go back to sleep! Go back to sleep and finish it!
Haha! The dream got you so rattle Tharn it has you covering up Phaya with a pillow!!! Damn, his picture cracked. Which means someone is secretly watching him. That's not creepy at all.
Yes, Tharn, let's go back over that dream. *Nods head in pleased mode.* Haha, the way Tharn jumped back when Phaya took off that towel. What I find hilarious is that Phaya wore the towel when he clearly had that on underneath. Tease much Phaya.
Tumblr media
I think this smile says it all. He did not stick his finger in the yoke! That's it, throw him out! Yeah, stick it in your mouth like you're a sexy bitch, but Tharn and I are on the same page. Phaya's face clearly saying that this did not go according to his plan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🤣🤣🤣 Poor Phaya was trying to hard to bring sexy back and gets this instead. 🤣🤣🤣 He probably woke to those pillows covering his crotch and came to the sensible conclusion that with a little push he could have Tharn. He's just not as smooth as our baby is, klutzy.
Phaya, just take the enjoyment out of it that you can. Tharn cleaning up the ketchup for you. Tharn's solution to this whole mess. "Just go to work naked!" I can absolutely get behind this. Like literally... hahaha. These two coconuts are hilarious.
This dumbass, oh look, the bike is fixed. Magic! 🤣🤣🤣 Yai, God, I love Yai. He's just asking some innocent questions that Tharn is trying to cover up. Which Phaya is not having. He has been walking perfectly fine, but when he hears Yai, he starts yanking at the pants and acting dramatic. Then, when Yai ask HIM an innocent question, he tells him the pants are Tharn's.
Which leads to this beautiful interaction.
Tumblr media
OMG... Apparently the pants were really too small. Hahaha!
Wait, doesn't that girl look familiar. Isn't that the Naga lady?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe not, maybe just similar looking. Either way, Phaya catches the significance of the conversation and goes to ask them abut the influencer. They've got a clue now!
Woot! I love all the strong females. Mayris is a hoot. Here comes Phaya sparing no feelings. I suspect Singh. With absolutely nothing to go by as yet.
He sees the future, though, not the past. Hmm. Tharn only had a seconds warning, now they are stuck and Phaya is running after the fire starter.
Tharn picks up Phaya getting stabbed. Gets them unstuck somehow with a chair. And is now going after Phaya.
Phaya, you are once again saved by Tharn. Why is Tharn playing doctor to Phaya instead of medical staff? I mean, he got hit in the head. I know he is hard-headed, but I'm just saying. Phaya being short-tempered and so confused about Tharn acting like he cares when he usually doesn't. Then Mayris reading the room and having fun with it. 🤣🤣🤣
Sneaky Phaya listening to the convo.
Tumblr media
Tharn's face says it all.
Who is Dao... I'm sure this won't cause misunderstandings at all. Oh, I called it. Tharn is jelly! So jelly! Yai don't look happy either. You fucked up, Phaya. Hahaha! Of course, Yai is also going to take the opportunity to poke the sore spot.
Revenge has shown up in the face of Dr. Chalothon. OMG, that was so classic and yet still Beautiful. Chalothon asks Tharn if he is hungry and if he wants to eat before going home. Tharn looks right at Phaya as he says yes. Phaya has his priorities in order though and chases after them. But not smart enough to clear up the misunderstanding. Oh goody, when we incorrectly diagnose Schizophrenia without any data. Schizophrenia exists on a scale, the more extreme cases that refuse medication can be a danger whether to themselves or others depend on environmental factors. Also, Schizophrenia isn't as common as people think. On a global scale, it's 1 out of 300 people. 1 out 3 Schizophrenics can successfully get treated and recover enough to live independently. Ahh, there we go, he is using it to point fingers at Phaya.
Nobody told the good doctor this. You fell for that Phaya???
Aww, Tharn was so happy to see Phaya, but Phaya is not happy.
Tumblr media
So much excitement about finding genitals. Oh, they might have found him. I'm not holding my breath yet.
Phaya looking at Cap while everyone else is looking at Tharn...
Ahhh, please let the scene in the preview not be a dream! Woot! Can't wait!

The Sign Episode 7 Thoughts
Showing abs is apparently necessary for good art (taking notes)
Okay but are they talking about having him paint him, make love, or kill him and make him a part of the art (they keep showing the art tools like torture tools)
That love scene was really beautiful, love the way it makes the art very visceral. The way it's framed reminds me a bit of Hannibal and the way bodies there are framed as art.
Ah so we are intentionally blurring the lines here between love making, art, and potential murder--cause the scene of him washing off the paint is pulled straight from a crime thriller. I like the contrast between the red paint and the blue lighting.
Interesting bathroom, the shot is really pretty, but logistically how do you shower without getting everything wet. The mirror is really interesting though. Practically it's a good way to make sure he gets all the paint off. But it also highlights how alone he is here, with only his own reflection to keep him company.
Yai why are you trying to stop Tharn from saving someone?
These guys are so bad at working, meanwhile Yai is telling Tharn not to get distracted from the job they're already all not doing
Oh I like the way the actor plays Mr. Montree. A lot of actors would overplay the sinister aspect to make sure the audience really gets it, but instead of any tension in his voice or body language, he comes across quite genuine and warm in his responses. We can still pick up the tension if we observe the captain and read between the lines of what he's saying. Nice!
Tharn, darling, maybe don't tip the guy off! I'm glad Yai told him that was stupid
Ah hello again Nat's abs!
Interesting that most of the guests are in black, white, or beige, but Mr. Montree is in blue and Phaya's grandma is in red. Of course those are the colors used in the painting and earlier with Art. It makes sense that Mr. Montree would stand out, but I'm curious why Phaya's grandma in particular. Will she become more important? Is she related to Mr. Montree in some way?
I'd love to know more about the artists and art they used for this episode. There's some really gorgeous pieces
Oh no a broken statue I'm getting Shadow flashbacks
Wait why would they detain Art? It was clearly an accident
Dr. Chachacha stepping up to say Art is his patient, what is this Hannibal? Dr. Chalecter over here! It's got to be an influence right? Cause I was getting similar vibes in the opening scenes too
I wonder if hysteria as a term has the same connotations as it does in Western psychiatry. Like is it still a term that's used medically? Or is it clearly outdated? If it's the later, why doesn't that raise any eyebrows? Either way it fits with his sinister role in the story and the way he riles Phaya up to cause problems and make it seem like Phaya is dangerous or hysterical. Say Art is hysterical and off his meds and you can discredit him. How much of that is Dr. Chalecter using some sort of power on people is hard to say.
Huh, even after that back and forth, I'm not quite sure what the show's perspective is here on mental illness. They aren't necessarily pushing back on the idea that it can make you dangerous, even if there's some nuance added. Though Dr. Chalecter did get in a funny burn telling Phaya: you're not mentally ill, your personality just sucks.
Okay I get that Phaya is acting like an idiot because he's scared, but my patience is a little thin. It's just not a dynamic I enjoy. I'm kind of hoping it really is Dr. Chalecter's doing.
Oooof Dr. Chalecter is over here distinguishing "normal" people vs mentally ill people. Rich and ableist! Despite the copganda the show is at least giving us evil psychiatrists.
No don't bring the charismatic psychiatrist into your police investigation! It's like the captain hasn't even seen Hannibal!
Did Kao's body get put into the art and that's why they can't find him?
Okay I guess I'm glad it wasn't portrayed as him killing out of madness or mental illness, that's a relief.
Tharn's visions are getting super convenient and helpful now. I like the touch of focusing on the clock in the flashback
Imagine being the poor cab driver. You pick up a guy with a bleeding neck and instead of going to the hospital he asks you to drop him somewhere sketchy
Why would you sit in the car to get evidence? Wouldn't that disrupt things?
These two have no chill, why are they bickering in front of everyone's salad. Also not sure why we needed a montage of the meeting.
Kitty Kitty Kitty Kitty!!!
Oh Phaya's little meow to deflect, adorable!
Huh the grandma's comments about not understanding people's motivations and everyone losing their minds are troubling. Feels in line with what the episode seems to be bringing up around mental illness. Even with Tharn's response, I'm not really sure what the show is trying to say about the topic. Kind of similar to last week's take on justice.
Kitty makes the perfect transition shot!
Interesting how the final scenes between Phaya and Tharn here mirror Art and Kao but with very different endings. Both begin in spaces where Art and Phaya make and display their art. Tharn and Kao are invited into these intimate spaces. But the couple's follow opposite trajectories--one betraying that intimacy (Kao) and the other (Thar) deciding to take a leap of faith and trust in it.
Art and Kao make love in a scene that may have just been a fantasy, but, real or not, the scene has a dream-like aesthetic that is edging into nightmare. We then learn they fought and separated.
In contrast, Phaya and Tharn talk, resonate with each other emotionally and come together. They then make love. Like, Art and Kao's love scene, there's a fantastic quality, but this one stays out of nightmare territory.
The mirrors are particularly notable. We end with mirror's capturing Phaya and Tharn together, intimate. While we began with Art in his bathroom, the mirrors highlighting how alone he is.
A final thought: It has been 4 weeks since Sand has graced our screens, now we must wait at least a week more and that is a true crime!

The Sign Ep 7 Stray Thoughts
Last week, Tharn continued to stew over Phaya. Phaya looked more into the mystical stuff and had another vision. Tharn refuses to believe Phaya, and struck Phaya when Phaya and Cholathorn got into it. We also learned that Cholathorn is willing to kill Tharn to keep them apart.
I hope that when Nat's character stabs someone this episode it is so sexy.
The artist is named Art, and he's seeing a man who's about to get married. This is about to be messy!
There are any number of holes paint could get into. Please don't ever fuck on top of a wet painting.
They just keep bringing our taller girls. The lesbians will get no breaks.
This man must be rich showing up on just a blue shirt like this.
I hope the fine arts side of BL reacts to the performance.
Oof, they are making a huge scene at the gallery!
He cut her!!
Tharn, no one is letting you anywhere near Montree.
What the hell did Cholathorn do to Art??
This whole case has really dragged this episode. It's not like we are in a procedural where everyone has specialties that they bring so their investigative moments will feel different.
Oh good. We have UV lights to investigate the fluids on the painting and aren't just relying on Tharn's visions.
Welp. I guess that's it for Art and Kao.
I don't think Force echoes will work as evidence.
I know Dr. I'll Kill Him Before I Let You Touch him isn't saying to give up on love.
Is the surprise a cactus?
I do like Phaya's grandmother, even if she is stunting on them as they come through the door.
Man, this poolside confession would feel better if Tharn hadn't felt absent from this plotline for multiple episodes.
This sex scene was very stylish, but this doesn't feel like a triumph or a payoff of any sort. I like it visually, but I don't feel emotionally moved by it.
Well, this was kind of a dull episode, and there's going to be more of this case next week. I want to be excited about what sort of Naga and Garuda stuff comes next, but I don't think we know where anyone stands enough to anticipate much in that way. At the most I just hope Phaya and Tharn start acting like a team so Tharn can make interesting choices again and Yai can do more than just tell him to chill or talk to Phaya.

Hoo, boy. I was having all the fun and stress with the fights today. I don't normally get this involved in fight commentary because TV show fighting has very little basis in reality because the aim of the game is to look cool but with The Sign, (and KP), they've made it so they have functional fight styles in amongst the cool.
Take Phaya striking out at Tharn. Do you know how I know it was an accident? First of all, man is all hot air when it comes to Tharn. Something to note I didn't mention last week, watch how Yai flinches when Phaya tries to go past him to get at Tharn. He's still that blustering bagpipe and hitting the wall reinforces that. He wants Tharn to be scared without having to hurt him. Lol, boy, don't you get that he's into that? But when he accidentally hits Tharn, 2 things: it was bound to happen (range + Tharn is little, so he was in perfect line), and we actually have a move for that. It's called a back fist. If Phaya had been intentional his hand would have been knuckle side to Tharn and preferably in a fist with his thumb (tucked but) up but even if he was intended to slap him his hand would still be flat, thumb up. It's not here. It's back side of his hand to Tharn. A small surface area, impact but minimal. All of this and his face drops like his beloved gerbil died.
Speaking of specific moves. This, I love this.
Tumblr media
It's known as a Superman punch. It relies on you being the faster and more assertive opponent. You generally only have one shot at this for it to be good and effective, preferably with a run in for power, so Phaya saw it and took it. We love a confident king. However, I can confirm you look like a lunatic when you're learning it, though. To drive the punch, you have to pull your knee up and drive the other leg back as you jump and punch your arm. If you have terrible hand eye coordination, this is not for you.
Ah, the case of everyone forgets they have legs. Oh my lord. This is actually why I can't watch fighting in movies because people be doing dumb stuff they shouldn't be doing and now look, you have someone beating on your face. How does that feel, Phaya? Pretty bad, I'll bet.
The one thing I can't stress enough is that fighting is about tactics. When Phaya has hold of Narong's arm and he knees him in the front and gets slammed down for it, I would have buckled him with a heel driven like a hook kick into the back of his knee and slammed my elbow into his face. When you get into a fight, unless you trained with that person you have to, within seconds, get a read on them. That's why flashy shit doesn't work. You're trying to pirouette (also don't do this, your teacher will be V. Not Happy face) and someone is gonna grab your legs and break you. You're welcome.
What I find super interesting though is the difference between Phaya before his amulet was pulled off and after. He goes in like a bull in a china shop, ignoring his guard, ignoring his range, getting slammed and choked out. His necklace, his grounding item, gets thrown away and it focuses him. He's no longer haphazard. He keeps Narong away from him with succinct kicks. He makes clear choices about each move he makes, even after the evil green light show.
I really like this fight because it shows you how good Phaya is. He goes into it, making a lot of errors, probably due to being one of the best of who he trains with. Probably in the second to highest if not highest weight class. Weight by the very nature of it gives power. Narong has got 20-25 lbs more muscle than Phaya. It means a damn lot. It's the difference between someone dazing you with a punch and knocking you over with the force of it. So he was already going uphill, and you see him get progressively more in sync into his tactics. So much so this guy invokes the sins of doctor's past. Really hats off to Billy because he's really selling it.
Honorable mention: Phaya's flying kick (to shut Wit down). Also, another thing that makes you look terrible as you learn it. Particularly if it takes you a while to get up the bag.
Dishonorable mention: Tharn, delays in shooting cost lives and I know you were taught that in bootcamp. Buck up, Buckaroo.

I love the 7th episode of the Sign the series. The investigation was really captivating and interesting. The mix between what people think happened and Tharn's vision made us confused and sometimes lost, but the denouement was surprising.
We had two Chalothon's appearances and in both of them he was extremely annoying. Phaya and him can't have a nice talk. It's always laced with inclinations and treats. They can't stand each other. I think Chalothon is a fascinating antagonist and I really want to see what he is going to do next.
Of course, this episode would be nothing without the end where Phaya and Tharn admitted their feelings for each other and act upon it. I'm overjoyed. I know they will face more hardships but I hope they will overcome them together. It was also nice to see Tharn choosing Phaya over the Dr. I didn't like what happened between them in the previous episode. It's so much better when they are not at odds.
Yai was again the MVP in this episode. He deserves the best buddy award. I found it very amusing how he defused the situation between Chalothon and Phaya.
I can't wait for next week and the next episode. The trailer gave us a glimpse of what's going to happen and I have so many questions. I wish next Saturday would come tomorrow.

Moving onto chapter 12 where we leave the safety of what's aired...and things get VERY interesting. Also this chapter is about twice as long as previous ones were, so this is part one of two.
We are thousands of years in the past in a sense forest. It's full of flowers and trees and monkeys and birds. Phaya can hear a stream and he looks down to see schools of fish in the crystal clear water. Vanvisa calls to him and takes him to a gorgeous waterfall. Phaya says he didn't know a place like this existed in Thailand. Vanvisa tells him it doesn't anymore. It's been lost to time. Phaya says that's sad.
She tells him to dive into the water and he's surprised he doesn't get wet. She explains he's just his soul and not his physical body and he won't get wet. She tells him to follow and not get distracted.
She takes him to a gate to the Naga clan. Explains that they have many gates and any water source allows them to travel through it. He asks where they are going and Vanvisa explains she taking him to her home. They enter the Underwater World and he describes it as a village and castle but underwater with fish.
Phaya gets startled when a Naga swims towards him and Vanvisa says that Garuda aren't usually afraid of Naga. She asks why he's so frightened that the color leaves his face. She takes him where they can walk instead of swimming with the Naga. He's relieved as they make his heart quiver with fear. He runs to catch up with Vanvisa and asks her what she meant by calling him Garuda. Apparently he's a prince. He's shocked and says she must be joking.
She is NOT joking at all. She asks again why he's frightened of Nagas. He explains when he was younger that a golden figure with red eyes tried to drown him and asks if she is familiar.
Vanvisa asks if he met the creature just once. Phaya explains the dreams and how he was forced to watch a fight between Garuda and Naga. He was forced to die over and over for interfering. Vanvisa says they will go to the beginning to see why they fought. Phaya asks who the Naga that keeps visiting him is. Vanvisa says he's the one she mentioned before and that she is surprised that he's been bothering Phaya in his dreams.
Phaya wants to know why he keeps messing with his dreams. She explains Phaya took his precious thing. Phaya doesn't know what the precious thing is or why he's being tormented about it when he doesn't know what it is much less have it.
They stop at a small wooden house and...there's a beautiful woman there that looks exactly like Tharn. They watch as the woman runs off and leaves. Vanvisa asks if Phaya really thought that Tharn saving him from drowning was a coincidence. Phaya thinks of course not because Tharn can see signs. Vanvisa shakes her head and thinks it'll be useless to give Phaya more clues. He'll have to see for himself.
She says she will take Phaya to let him know "him". She takes him to a castle decorated in gold lotus flowers. She explains this is the home of aristocrats and the prince's castle.
They are interrupted by the sound of firm footsteps. They both whirl around to see a large man wearing gold accessories with red jewels. He sat on a bench also embellished in gold and red jewels. The man is a carbon copy of Dr. Chalotorn. Vanvisa's eyes darken and says he's Master Chalotorn, King Kasemsin Naga's son. Phaya mentions he looks like someone he knows who is Tharn's personal doctor. Vanvisa clinches her jaw and asks if Phaya really thinks he's a doctor.
Phaya is shocked. Vanvisa says he traveled to the mortal world through his own will. He was paroled a hundred years ago and is determined to bring his sister's (????) soul back according to the commitment she made to him. Which she didn't make he just attached the words himself and refuses to let go of it. Phaya realizes that Chalotorn is the one from his dreams which Vanvisa confirms. He goes to find the memory angry that he believes Chalotorn's lies that Tharn told him about it.
The lady that looks like Tharn shows up and sits next to Chalotorn. He asks if she's happy and she says she's sad and he knows why. He tells her she's young and has time to find a better man than him. She says he doesn't love her and he confirms he doesn't love her like that but cherishes her companionship. She's not thrilled to have been promoted from maid of honor to companion. He tells her she should be honored as not anyone can be his companion. She asks what being his companion means and basically she can never leave his side and must obey him.
The scene fades to a different one of the lady reading to Chalotorn. Vanvisa explains this is her sister Vassarat. Phaya says she looks like Tharn and Vanvisa asks what he thinks and he thinks yes this is Tharn. She confirms it and explains Vassarat was Chalotorn's companion. She felt unrequited love for him. Vanvisa says she was a minion who followed without question with naivety and fidelity. That she did everything with goodwill even though she was taken advantage of by Chalotorn.
Phaya asks why Chalotorn did return her feelings and it's because he already had a fiancee. One that he had Vassarat spy on and follow to find out her likes and dislikes. Vanvisa says she spied out of loyalty and almost couldn't survive Phaya's claws.
Phaya can't ask for more info as they are suddenly back in the forest and Vassarat is running in terror from something. Trees are about to be blown over when a giant bird with the body of a human appears. It swoops down and captures Vassarat in its claws and flies off with her. She's dropped mercilessly on the rocks by the waterfall from earlier. She calls him a wicked Garuda and he transforms into a man in red who looks exactly like Phaya.
The Garuda tells the Naga to mind her nasty mouth and she tries to get to the water to escape. He grabs her and pulls her towards him when they are interrupted. It's a woman that looks exactly like his ex that just visited him at the station.
Ok things get a bit confusing here? The woman is Chalotorn's fiancee but she's meeting with the person who is now his brother in the past. That's why Vassarat is spying on them. Vassarat is threatening to expose them to Chalotorn. Phaya doesn't understand why he doesn't recognize his brother so Vanvisa explains they have different mothers. The ex's new boyfriend is also there and Vanvisa explains Chalotorn isn't the only one who escaped to the mortal world. But she doesn't know their karma so she doesn't know their fates like she does her sister and Phaya. Phaya caused all of this because he is in love with the ex? Even now? Basically Vassarat caught them cheating, went to report it to Chalotorn, was stopped by the Garuda, but the fiancee begged for her to be saved. Vassarat went to tell Chalotorn everything but was forbidden from entering because he was uh otherwise occupied WITH VANVISA! Vassarat wasn't mad? She's nicer than me that's for sure.
Oh good Lord...so Vassarat told her sister everything and Vanvisa convinced her not to say anything because she thought it would be to her advantage if her rival had her own lover. Vassarat goes back to the fiancee who is crying thinking she's been outed to Chalotorn. Vassarat assures her that she didn't tell but the fiancee can tell she's torn by keeping the secret. The fiancee refuses to let Vassarat go back to Chalotorn so takes her to her rendezvous with the brother. Vassarat and Phaya's former self become friends after several visits by bonding over their unrequited love.
Oh lordy. I'm going to need to make some kind of chart to keep track because now the brother has a fiancee who's in love with Phaya. There's like 7 or 8 people involved and none of them are in love with who they are supposed to be. And I need a break so I'll be back in a bit.

The Sign surprised me with many things, but most probably with how much I like Tharn (he's actually my fav character now), although I started watching the series for Billy 😎
Billy is one of my favorite actors of BL series, because he perfectly portrays falling in love, being in love and - what I especially note - also being horny for the object of his feelings 😊 Billy in SCOY was PERFECT at it. He's like that in The Sign too. All these sneaky glances and open stares, touches, being focused on the other person - the episode is packed with such little things that add up to growing interest and fascination and a love relationship. I love it, I love it when characters act believable with their feelings, and this IS believable. I thought that Billy would definitely be able to handle it, that he would probably be the main character in this relationship and the burden of carrying this relationship would rest on him. And, oh boy, was I wrong 😍 Because Billy got the perfect partner. Babe as Tharn is *chef's kiss*, what a babe indeed! Let me start by saying that Babe, as Billy is very attractive. He has such a non-obvious beauty, that is, at the same time he is very masculine, but he also has a very delicate, almost feminine beauty, an aura… I don't know what to call it. It's so hot! I love how he plays his character, making Tharn a tough guy with a principles, but at the same time there is such innocence and kindness about him, even a little child-like naivety. I'm not surprised at all that he is liked and evokes protective feelings in everyone (including me). His being in love for the first time in his life is absolutely wonderful, and so real, it has a very "high school, first crush" vibe with being easily flustered, offended, blushing and being turned on by anything, even a voice. That's so sweet! 🧁 I'm not surprised that Phaya is so focused on him and keeps pulling his pigtails, who wouldn't be! Tharn is just so lovely, he can stand up for himself, he's tough but also charmingly innocent and straightforward, teasing him is pure fun and he's so cute when he's flustered. Phaya had no chance from the beginning 🤷‍♀️. Especially from the moment Tharn's voice broke when he said his name after pulling him out of the water 🥺🥺
Anyway: Billy and Babe are my new beloved couple, Saturdays this year are somehow exceptionally rich in well-matched pairs of actors and characters, I mean, there was Laws of Attraction, then Love in Translation, probably more and now them 🥰
(I'm also curious about Tharn's reaction to Phaya's voice in the bathroom scene. Because this reaction, yes, it could just be Tharn being horny, but Phaya speaks with a changed voice and Tharn immediately becomes lost in it and submissive and I wonder if there is some supernatural aspect here 🤔 )
