drunk
characters: xiao, yanfei, zhongli, lumine
a/n: i wonder how long it'll take me to type this out as i correct the typos… it's already been about three or five of them in this short sentence. also, i'm writing all of these as i finish riding my drunk state.
anyways.
xiao is a quiet drunk. he's the type to try and pretend he's still sober, even though he very much isn't. you take his hand into yours and it's as warm as it is calloused. which is interesting.
he's usually so cool. almost cold. and now-
now, he's warm, and his drunk blush just intensifies as you peck the back of his hand and smile.
xiao tries not to look at you. he fails.
you are so, so beautiful, and it's almost magnetizing how you smile and giggle and look at him like he's everything, even though he doesn't deserve it.
(he takes pictures when you can't seem to focus- of you, smiling- of you, kissing some part of him- of you. beautiful, lovely, you.)
////
yanfei is… rambunctious. yanfei is as lovely as she always is, too, even as half her face turns red and the other half stays a shade of blush pink. she motions around as she explains (or- tries to-) some difficult concept to chongyun and xingqiu.
yelan gives her a glass of water and she pouts after downing it, noticing it's just water.
"yeeeelaaaaan, i want something sweet! like juice! or punch!"
yelan shakes her head. "it's all alcoholic, so water it is."
yanfei sulks a bit more, until she notices you watching and waves you over with a big smile. her usually lazy eyes look wide alive-
they shine like jade, only amplified by her red face.
her lips shine, especially as she licks them and you can't help but wonder what she tastes like- in more ways than one.
(you make your way over, smiling and happy. what more could you possibly want? she's all you ever need.)
////
zhongli sips his fine, aged wine. he sips gracefully.
you stare from a table, leaning your head on your arms, almost squinting at him as he converses with other fancy pants folks.
you're dizzy and clear headed at the same time. it doesn't matter much, because you keep getting distracted by the archon a few tables away, and he just finds new ways to make you dizzy all over again.
(sharp teeth nipping at your jaw, scales climbing up his neck under your hands and heavy breathing.)
your neck's still purple bruises- might explain the high collared outfit from today.
he meets your eyes for a brief moment or two and smirks, a look almost too cocky for the company- and then he smiles politely at someone else.
when your eyes meet again, you raise your glass in a gesture of toast and down it.
(all he can think about is pinning you to a wall, devouring you whole under that lovely high collared outfit and bare thighs.
when he does, he can't quite help the sharp teeth, the way the rocks beneath you mold to your shape or the scales engulfing his skin.
after all-
you're the only one who can make him go truly feral.)
/////////
the traveler doesn't drink.
when venti decides to treat everyone to drinks, you take it upon yourself to drink enough for the three of you, as she and paimon drink some juice.
it takes little time for you to get tipsy, a little more for you to start getting closer, and not much more for you to be laying on her thighs, a dizzy smile on your face as you take in her smell.
she smells nice- like the wind, like wind asters, like…
space. the universe. everything.
lumine sighs at you as your gaze turns unfocused in her lap, but says nothing.
after all, this feels like home. the only thing missing is a tipsy brother, and she'd have seen this a thousand times before. a tavern, a brother, and some fine company.
still- it's better now, because you're here too. she smiles, just slightly, but you catch it and grin up at her.
(you doubt she'll be here forever. you doubt she'll stay. but right now? it's good enough. it has to be.
and later, when you kiss her sweetly, it's more than enough.
you'll treasure the drunken memory for as long as you live.)

Do you want me to read to you?
Shit, I can't read, can you read this?
I never had that card, I was lying about that.
I'm reading a story on the fire.
Why did I hear myself?
Yeah, I ate all the food, that's why we're starving.
You literally almost got us killed.
We're actually nuts!
We just didn't appreciate it.
This has to be it.

That was really aggressive.
As I was saying, please cry on my face.
We don't do that here.
You've been rolling with it ever since.
I'll finish him, I guess.
What are y'all talking about, and how do I get involved?
What is this fucking riddle you're throwing at us?

Guys, I found a door!
Don't say that!
We cheated, guys.

Ah, kiss me!
I’m gonna let it play out.
Don’t bleed all over me.
Yes, go clean.
TERRORISER
It’s always been…
Keep doing that.
I got clubbed to death.
This is not funny by the way.
Let's make this ghost our bitch.
This is where you found me.
I hate your whistling!
When in doubt, get the glow sticks out.
All we heard was screaming in the distance.
One makes me money, the other spends it.
KRYOZ
I think mine's solid, but who's going to know?
Honestly, I like the company.
I don't know if we're actually running out of time, but it feels like it.
You make it sound so easy.
I'm gonna stand right here.
I need this most…you went the wrong way.
Let's be honest, it isn't fun if it's only this thing.
I'm pure positive today.
You guys really fucked that up.
Is that what you meant?
WILDCAT
I don’t think you got me out of there.
I did more as a piece of shit than you can as a real human.
Planting explosions until you guys get here, please hurry.
We’ll save you, just press the button.
You’re lucky to even be alive, what are you talking about?
Hold me and put me in the pod.
You’re so fucking dumb.
I can barely hear myself think, fuck you!
He bled everywhere!
You broke my leg, ow!
BASICALLYIDOWRK
Just die, kid.
We’re just floating.
You didn’t make it.
Why would you bring that mask in your house?
Bro, why is the cat staring at the wall?
I have an irrational fear of bunny rabbits.
I just want you to know, I hate you all.
You better still be there, I swear to God.
What does that mean?
There’s so many things to craft, where’s the little book?
MOO
I didn’t get anything either.
Can we kill these guys?
Just throwing things against the wall.
I feel like I'm in a box of lego's right now.
Okay, we gotta go deeper.
You guys just have to open your big mouths, didn't you?
I didn't know we were starting.
We lived.
This is going to be a long session.
Does this mean you like me, cause you want me in the video?
VANOSSGAMING
Aw, damn, back to this shit.
You went flying.
This is just to get the fucking teleporter open.
Look at him, he’s meditating.
Yes, get him, get him!
That’s the joke?
Who the fuck is this?
We’ll save you!
I just want to see, I don’t have any fucking torches.
What did you find, what did you find, what did you find?

Fic Playlist Part 1 Part 2
Tumblr media
“So how was your time with Fez?” Elliot perks up, simple strings being plucked on his guitar as we lay opposite ways on the bed, our feet hanging off. I giggle softly, my cheeks heating up.
“It was okay. At the end he gave me a hug and called us family. You know how that shit gets to me.” I smile softly, playing with the edge of my shirt nervously. “He asked me why you and I aren’t dating and I had the guts to tell him it’s because I’m hung up on someone else.” His hand holds out in a silent highfive which I gladly take, a grin on my lips as I close my eyes. Rolling over onto my stomach, I look up at him as his fingers delicately play with the strings on the guitar. “I’m not using you, right?” I ask, my chin coming down to rest on his shoulder as he turns to look at me, his eyes soft. “The way I was talking about our friendship today with Fez and Faye- I felt bad.” I whisper, his hand leaving his guitar to gently come rest on my cheek.
“I do drugs. You do me.” He whispers with a small smile and I laugh quietly, my gaze falling from his. “We’re what each other needs for now. That’s okay.” He adds, his words making me feel a bit better. “One day, Fez will realize what he’s missing and he’ll be on his goddamn knees for you. Until then, I’ll keep you company.” Smiling softly, I rest my forehead against his, closing my eyes.
“What if you’re not here to keep me company?” I ask vaguely, the question weighing heavily on me as his face drops, his lips jutting out in a pout. “I worry…” I trail off, my voice small as he leans forward, gently pressing a kiss to my forehead.
“If I’m still alive when Fez realizes how amazing you are, I’ll check myself into rehab.” He snorts but I can sense the genuinity behind his eyes. I shake my head at him with a quiet laugh. We both know that the chance of either of those things happening are slim to none. “And I’ll stay clean.” He whispers, my eyes widening at his bet. “I’m a betting man and because I actually know how amazing and kind, beautiful, smart and sexy you are, I’m gonna win.” He grins widely but my eyes fill with tears at his promise. “Hey, I’m like five days sober.” He smiles, his eyes scrunching up as I nod, leaning forward to peck his lips gently and slowly. Pulling away, an evil smirk has replaced his kind smile. He quickly rolls on top of me, his legs straddling my waist as I giggle up at him. “If I can’t do drugs, you’re gonna have to be one for me. For the time being.” He whispers, his hands on my waist as I grin, immediately getting where he’s going. I sit up, pulling my shirt off as he does the same, leaning down to connect his lips with mine. My hands cup his cheeks as his go to my waist, tugging me closer to him. I giggle quietly as his lips find their way down my neck, nibbling their way as I sigh. “Seems like you needed this way more than me.” He whispers against my collarbone, his fingers gently pulling the straps of my bra down to be able to press kisses to the exposed skin.
“You always talk so damn much.” I giggle, wrapping my arms around his neck as he pulls me onto his lap. Like clockwork. He chuckles as his lips find mine, his hands reaching behind me to unlatch my bra as I moan breathlessly onto his lips, my head falling backwards. The feeling of his fingertips against my back makes me forget anything and everything and his hands in my hair make my head spin. “Shit.” I whisper, looking back down at him, his pupils blown as I chuckle quietly, cupping his cheeks. He gently leans up, pressing a kiss to my jaw, then my cheek, then the other cheek before pecking my lips a few times.
“The fact that he doesn’t know how beautiful and fucking divine you are is beside me. Like why do I get to know this information?” He whispers, his head tilting as he looks up at me. I giggle with a shrug, hugging myself close to him as his hands settle on my waist. “Just in case anyone hasn't told you this before, you are ethereal.” My fingers wind through his hair, tugging his head back, my lips attaching to his neck as he moans quietly. His fingers dig into my hips, gently grinding his hips upwards as I squeal with a giggle.
“Would you hate me if I said that this was as far as I wanted to go tonight?” I ask in a hushed tone, his head shaking as he grins. “Doesn’t mean you have to stop any of this by any means.” I giggle, holding him tightly before he can slip away from me.
“Ever heard the phrase, ‘I'll take what I can get’?” He chuckles, puckering his lips for a kiss as I lean forward, gently taking one. “I should leave some hickies. Make Fezzy boy go crazy.” He whispers, his eyes wide as I giggle, throwing my head back to give him the span of my neck. “Yes.” He sighs out a quiet moan, his lips immediately attaching to my skin, marking me up.
The next morning, a tired Elliot and I make our way to Fez’s store, on a mission. Not only is my neck littered with kisses that I tried to cover up, but I needed to know if anything’s happened in the twelve hours that I haven’t seen him.
I missed him, okay? Shoot me.
Our hands are linked together as I adjust myself under Elliot’s arm, a smile on my face. Entering the store, I see Fez sitting in his folding chair, Ash on the counter and Faye sitting on the floor in the middle. Typical. When Faye sees us, her eyes light up and she’s immediately on her feet.
“Hi!” She exclaims, rushing up to me as she knocks me back in a hug, Elliot’s eyes wide as he looks between us. “I told you I’d see you soon, silly!” She giggles, pulling away from me, turning to Fez with a stern expression. “See, now you don’t have to miss her- he’s been grumpy.” Looking at Fez, his face softens when he sees me.
“Hiya Fez. You miss me?” I tease, a blush covering his freckled cheeks as I lean against Elliot. “We just came to see if anything went down while I was, uh, preoccupied.” I snicker, my eyes flickering to Elliot as he rolls his eyes playfully.
“Cal ended up coming by this morning. Lexi was here though. He was chill, claimed he was just a concerned father. He had a piece in his pocket, I could tell.” Fez explains, his legs stretching out in front of him as he sends me a smile. “‘m all good. I swear.” He reassures and I nod slowly, my heart rate coming down as he gazes at me. “How was your night?” Fez asks, the mood in the room changing as his gaze flickers from my neck, to the boy standing next to me. I watch as his teeth grind, his squared shoulders tense.
“Not very eventful.” Elliot replies simply, leaning towards me to press a kiss to my temple as I snort. That couldn’t be further from the truth and he knows it.
“Look’s eventful.” Fez mutters, his eyes leaving my marked up neck to focus on the blunt between his fingers. Hmm.
“Yeah, Fez is right. Like fucking Picaso on your neck.” Faye points out, my cheeks red as I reach up to cover my neck with my hand. I’m surprised she even knows who Picaso is. Elliot smirks next to me, his eyes on the ground as he shuffles his feet nervously. “I wish my boyfriend wasn’t in prison.” Faye whines loudly, turning her bitter gaze to Fez who shrugs sorrily. I’ll ask about that later. Probably a drug thing. “You guys are so cute.” Her mood switches once again, a soft smile on her big lips. Fez avoids my gaze once more, his eyes on the blunt that rests between his fingers.
“Is it alright if we hang for a bit, Fez?” I ask, his head bobbing in a silent nod, a grin spreading across my lips as I pull Elliot over to the coolers, sliding down them as I sit down on the floor next to Fez. Looking up at him, his gaze shifts to me, his face softening.
“How’s your nose?” Fez asks quietly, Faye and Elliot now ‘deep’ in conversation next to us. I’m not sure how deep of a conversation two drug addicts can take part in, especially when one of them still has bruises on the inside of her arm.
Reaching up, I gently touch the skin of my nose, a small hiss coming from my lips. “Looks better, not broken though.” He points out, lighting the blunt before placing it between his lips.
“Not broken, still hurts.” I snort, my head resting against the cold cooler behind me. His face is gentle as his head tilts to rest on the wall behind him, his eyes flickering from my eyes to my neck. Watching as an unreadable emotion passes over his face, he takes a long drag, breathing in smoke. “I can’t help that he does this shit.” I chuckle quietly, referring to my marked neck as Fez lets out a bashful laugh.
“I was worried ‘bout you when I dropped you off. Things seemed tense ‘tween the two of you.” He nods his head in Elliots direction and I remember our embrace last night outside his house. Waving him off, I explain.
“He’s got it rough. He’s also been sober for a few days now, so. You know how that is. He just wanted me around.” I smile up at the buzz cut man, his lips forming a smile as he nods knowingly. “You don’t have to worry about me, Fezco. I’m alright.” I reassure him, his head nodding like he already knows that. A few moments go by, my feet swaying in front of me as I listen to Elliot speak beside me.
“We gotta do something soon. Go to McDonalds or some shit.” Fez offers suddenly, putting out the joint on the ground next to me, his eyes hooded as he looks out at the street.
“Yeah? Just us?” I ask, my heart pounding and he nods with a smile. “Awe! You did miss me.” I giggle, reaching over to gently shove his knee as he rolls his eyes sheepishly.
“Shut it. You used to be my shadow, followin’ me around and shit.” He explains, his fingers toying with the end of his shirt nervously. Guilt fills me as I realize I really haven’t been spending much time with him. “I was worried I freaked you out with the Nate shit…” He trails off for a moment, his eyes flickering over to mine as he shrugs smally. “Course’ I missed you, kid.” He mutters and I can sense his apprehension. Reaching over, I gently take his hand in mine, squeezing it.
“I get why you did it. Nate gets why you did it. I’m not worried. Nor am I mad that you broke my nose.” I chuckle quietly, his fingers moving to gently intertwine with mine as his thumb rubs over mine. Warmth fills my chest at the action, our smiles mirroring each other. Feeling Elliots knee bump with mine, I turn to look at him, his smile evil. Feeling Fez let go of my hand, it drops to my side as I frown internally. A familiar buzz sounds in my pocket, my eyes rolling as I fish for my phone. Seeing my sister's name across the screen, my stomach drops. Answering the phone, I clear my throat. “What’s up, Sens?” I ask, the eyes on the room now on me as I listen.
“Dad’s mad, I’m walking to my friend's house around the corner. I just wanted to let you know.” She explains sullenly, her voice tired. I frown, my stomach twisting as I can only imagine the state that my dad’s in. “He was throwing stuff, yelling about killing himself or us.” My jaw grits as I turn to Elliot, his ears picking up on the conversation as I sit up straighter.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll take care of it. Let me know if you need anything from the house and I can bring it to you.” I answer simply, hearing her hum of acknowledgement across the line. “I’m sorry, babes. I should’ve been there.” I whisper, my head falling to rest on Elliot’s shoulder. “I was just staying with a friend. I needed to get out.” I huff, my eyes falling shut as guilt consumes me. I’ve been so absent from her lately, always taking care of something else.
“No, I get it. I’m glad you have stuff to do instead of sitting around here with a fire under your ass.” I chuckle quietly as she snickers, her own jab making her proud.
“Smart ass. Go have fun. I’m at the store so if you need me, let me know.” I hear her say a quick okay and I hang up the phone after a simple goodbye. Tossing my phone to my lap, I groan loudly as my hands come up to cover my face. The room is silent around me, almost as if they’re waiting for me to explain. “It was my sister. Just some drama going on.” I respond vaguely into my hands as Elliot kisses my cheek gently. Picking up my phone, Elliot watches me as I go into Nate’s contact, typing out a message.
Me My dad got angry again. Threatened to kill himself or Sienna and I. Tired of this shit.
Elliot hums quietly, his lips pulled down in a frown. He watches as the three bubbles come up on the bottom of the screen, Nate typing back a reply. Fez and Faye are too busy, caught up in a conversation with a customer as Fez takes them back into the back room. Drug deal. Cool.
Nate :D I’ve got something for you. A hug, but something else too. I’ll be at the shop soon. I need some rolling papers.
Nodding, showing the phone to Elliot, his brows furrow together in confusion. I shrug, watching as Fez talks in a hushed tone with the tall man, Faye’s eyes not leaving them as they pass things between them. Waiting patiently, my head on Elliot’s shoulder as Fez returns to his chair next to me, I look up at him. The man walks away, Faye’s huffs being heard from across the room.
“Just business. Nothin’ you need to worry about.” Fez assures me, his hand gently coming down to pat my head as I chuckle. Hearing a familiar sound approaching, I watch as Nate’s grey truck parks out in front of the store. Fez looks to me and then back to the tall boy, my body slipping out from Elliot’s grasp as I stand. My feet carry me out of the store, Fez’s deadly gaze on me as I approach Nate. As Nate steps out of the car, he lets out a sigh of relief when he sees me. I immediately hop into his arms, his arms winding around my back as he scoops me off the ground.
“Are you okay?” He asks gently and I give him a half assed nod. “Let me go get what I need. You can be my bodyguard. Make sure I don’t get jumped again.” He snickers, setting me down on the ground as I roll my eyes, following him back into the store. His eyes briefly meet Fez’s, my stomach swirling in nerves as Fez stands. Giving my friend a warning look, Fez let's Nate into the store, stepping aside. “Hey, you’re Y/n’s friend Elliot right?” Nate directs his attention back to the handsome man, their hands meeting in the middle in a slight handshake. I grin at the interaction but when my gaze shifts to Fez, I frown.
“He just needs rolling papers.” I hiss, watching as he rolls his eyes before stepping up to the counter. I observe carefully as Nate waits patiently, his eyes trained on the wallet in his hands as Fez watches him carefully.
“$5.75, playboy.” Fez offers, placing the rolling papers down on the counter as Nate hands him the money. The room is quiet for a moment, but I’m sure if you listened hard enough, you could hear my heart pounding. The men share a look, both of their faces stern as I wait for an explosion of who’s dick is bigger. “Your eye ain’t looking as bad as her nose.” Fez nods to me, my eyes widening at his not so hostile comment. Nate laughs sheepishly as Fez sends me a small obedient smile as he tries his best not to implode.
See? Was that so hard?
“No matter how many times you tell her not to get involved, she does.” Nate looks to me, my eyes rolling as they gang up on me. Nate approaches me after shoving the paper in his pocket, his head tilted as his eyes look to my neck. His fingers landing on my chin to lift my head up, his eyes trail down my skin. His eyebrows pulled together in confusion as he turns to look at Fez, and then to me. Nope, nope. Stop, Nate. Giving him a quick shake of my head, dismissing his suspicions of Fez making the marks on my neck, I look to Elliot. “Oh, you did this?” He asks the boy who stands next to me, a smug smile on his lips as he nods. “Damn, man. Taking one for the team since she won’t let anyone else do that.” Nate reaches over to clap a hand on Elliots shoulder, my eyes rolling.
“I’m picky, what can I say?” I snap back with a smirk, watching as Nate snorts.
“Trust me, I know.” Nate chuckles before his face hardens, nodding towards his truck. I nod, turning to Elliot and Fez. “I’m gonna steal her for a minute. She’ll be back.” He tells the men in front of me, their eyes stoic as they look at him. So goddamn territorial. Sending them a smile, I reach around Nate’s arm, pulling him away from them. “Goddamn they’re so protective of you.” He snorts as we walk away, my eyes rolling as he reads my mind. “God forbid I take their girl away from them.” He huffs, looking down to me with a smile. “You sure you’re okay? I was worried when I saw your message.” He worries, opening the back door of his truck as he pulls out a case. My eyes flicker back and forth from him to the case, waiting for him to give me an explanation.
“I’m okay, Nate. Just not sure what to do. He’s threatening shit to my little sis, not to me.” I fold my arms over my chest as he sighs, opening the case to reveal a small black gun. Fucking, what? “What?” I ask, reaching forward to pull the top back over the gun, concealing it as I look around. “Nate?” I ask, his eyes looking down at me as he clicks the lock shut, before handing it to me.
“I want you to have it. I need you to be able to defend yourself.” He whispers, my body and the case being hidden by the door as he looks down at me, his eyes full of worry. “Take it, please.” He reaches up, gently taking my chin between his fingers as I nod, letting out a sigh. “Go on.” He motions towards the store, the case handing down by my side as I back away from the truck, watching as he closes the door. Leaning down, he presses a kiss to my hairline before hopping in the truck, driving away with a wave. My head spins as I look down at the case, the contents inside making bile rise in my throat. It scares me to think that he thinks that I might have to use this.
When I arrive back into the shop, all eyes are on me and the case at my feet as I sit next to Elliot on the floor. Giving Fez a leave it alone look, he nods at me before turning to Faye.
“Aye, we got some stuff to take care of soon. Someone’s comin’ by and it’s probably smart if you guys aren’t here.” Fez nods to Elliot and I, my face falling at his words. He picks up on this, his gaze softening. “Not cuz I don’t want you here. But these guys are dangerous. Don’t want you gettin’ hurt.” He whispers, crouching down on the ground in front of me. “I’ll text you, alright?” He offers, his hand resting on my knee as I nod, looking at Elliot who smiles.
“Wanna go ice skating?” He offers, my eyes widening and smiling brightly at him. “Come on, lemme take you on a date, mamas.” He chuckles, standing up as he helps me up. Fez looks at him, shocked, at the sound of the nickname. The nickname he typically calls me. Feeling Elliot slip his fingers in between mine, my eyes look into Fez’s and I can tell he wants to say something. His jaw hangs for a moment before he clears his throat, shaking his head to himself as we back up.
“Bye.” I whisper to him as he snaps out of it, bobbing his head in a nod as he backs away from us. Sending a wave to Elliot, Faye grins at us as we walk away. As we walk further away from the shop, Elliot clears his throat. “That was really awkward for some reason at the end there.” I let out a small chuckle, Elliot's head nodding in agreement as we hop on his bike. “I think it’s cuz you called me ‘mamas’ and he always calls me that. Either that or ‘kid’.” I chuckle, wrapping my arms around his waist as I hold onto the case.
“Hey, I didn’t want to ask in front of Fez, but what did Nate give you?” He asks as he pushes forward, steering us down the street. I’ll tell him later.
I ended up explaining the whole gun situation to Elliot later on when we got back to his house. He was a bit shocked but appreciative of Nate’s idea nonetheless. I decided to not tell Fez, realizing that he probably would’ve forced me to stay under his watch until my dad fell off a cliff and died. He doesn’t know about my dad and it took a lot for me to even explain the extent of abuse that Sienna and I suffer at the hands of my dad to Elliot. Fez would’ve never react so calmly.
Elliot eventually took me home, my heart pounding as I snuck upstairs realizing that wherever Sienna was, she was still there. Thankfully, that was good for me. Because that means I could go out too.
Sending a quick text to Sienna, telling her that I was going out and probably not coming home tonight, my nerves calmed down. I texted Nate not too long after, changing my clothes as he and I originally made chill plans for the night. I know there’s a party at McKay’s tonight, probably for a football game or something. Even though Nate said he didn’t want to go, we’d probably end up there anyways. I wasn’t sure why Nate didn’t want to go in the first place, but I can safely assume Maddie.
Hopping in his car, I smile at Nate as I put my seatbelt on, him immediately racing down the road the minute the lock clicks. I let out a breath as I stare down at the name on my screen, worried to look at the message concealed behind it. I look over to Nate, his eyes already on me as they flicker down to my phone.
“You avoiding Fez now?” He asks simply, referring to the unseen message on my phone. Rolling my eyes, I swipe on the screen to look at the words.
Fez <;3 You’re going out with Nate instead of hanging out with me in the corner at this party?
My heart twinges painfully at his question, wondering if he’s being serious or not. I huff, deciding not to reply as I turn to Nate, my eyes tired as the sky dims above me.
“I’m literally couch hopping to avoid being in my house.” I explain, ignoring his question with a tired sigh, watching as a smile spreads across Nate’s lips. “Sienna is staying with a friend so it’s not like I have much reason to stay there.” I reach over to the radio, turning up the music as I bop gently.
“You’ve been staying with Elliot a lot?” He asks carefully, his jaw gritting as I roll my eyes. “Don’t roll your eyes, just answer the question.” He scoffs with a smirk, my knees tugging up to my chest as I sigh.
“Yeah, I’ve been staying with Elliot a lot. I don’t know why all of you men are so interested in the other men in my life. Like Fez is pissed I’m friends with you and Elliot, Elliot is protective of me around you and Fez, you are just indifferent but seem to dislike both of them.” I chuckle, running a hand through my hair. He looks over at me with a deadpan look, his lips in a tight, annoyed smile. “What?! He’s a good kid and fun to hang out with. He also gives good hickey’s as you’ve seen.” I smirk, my head resting against the headrest as he chuckles quietly. “I’m a good influence on him.” I add, watching as his face softens.
“Well, I miss hanging out with you. So delegate your time better, okay?” He winks at me, my cheeks heating up as his words as I watch as we drive past his house. “We’re gonna go get drunk. I got beers in the back.” He nods his head towards the backseat, my head tilting to see multiple forms and brands of beer. Grinning, I clap my hands as I bop to the music.
“All the men in my life are telling me they miss me. What should I do?” I chuckle, my head spinning at the thought of so many people wanting to spend time with me. I never used to be the person that people would miss. Honestly, if I would’ve fallen off the face of the earth years ago, no one would’ve noticed.
“You’re cool, Y/n. You don’t start shit, you’re easy to talk to and get along with.” He replies simply, pulling into the nature reserve as I smile. “You don’t judge and you make it easy for people to spill their guts to you. Not to mention you can chug liquor like a divorced dad.” He snorts, my chest rumbling in laughter as I throw my head back. “And I was not lying earlier, Elliots lucky. Just like any man would be to have you. You’re hot as shit.” I snort at his compliment, my cheeks heating up as I brush him off. “I’m allowed to say it. I’m technically single.” He huffs, parking the car at the look out. It looks out over the suburbs, the city of LA in the background. I grin at the bright lights, the dark sky contrasting against them. He knows how much I like it here. “Come on, loser. Let's get drunk.”
Time passed, dozens of beers down the drain between the two of us. A silent hour passes by, the chirps of the crickets and the roar of the city in front of us like a lullaby to my tired brain. Nate watches me out of the corner of his eyes, his eyes waiting for me to open up. He can tell that there’s a weight on my shoulders and a cotton ball in my throat. He reaches forward, turning down the soft music as he turns his body to look at me, taking another swig of his drink. I fight the urge to tell him what I’m thinking about; the familiar, older man who has my heart and has had it for a while now. His eyes run through my mind as I picture him sitting alone at the party, looking around as he does his job, the only conversations being between him and needy teens looking for pills.
“You’re like a ticking time bomb over there, babe. Tell me what’s wrong.” Nate whispers sweetly, his hand reaching to take the beer from my hands as my eyes glisten with tears. I shake my head softly, my eyes flickering up to look at him. “I haven’t told one person anything you’ve told me. I’m a vault when it comes to you. Take advantage of that.” He offers with a soft smile and I know he’s right. With how much of an asshole he is to everyone else, using them as pawns, he’s never done it to me or even involved me. Sniffling loudly, I hug my knees tighter to my chest as I send him a nod.
“What’s it feel like to be in love?” I ask quietly, my voice slurring as his eyebrows raise. “You had Maddy and Cassie. Jules.” I whisper, his eyes softening at the mention of the blonde. “How do you know it’s real and what do you do if you don’t think they feel that way back?” I ask, watching as he runs a hand through his hair, looking out at the city as he thinks of what to say, the words stuck in his throat.
“Uh, I honestly don’t know…” He trails off, his jaw tight. “Maddy was toxic and we knew it. We just couldn’t stop. We had this dark trauma bond and it took getting out of it to realize how fucked it was. Cassie was a mistake beyond belief.” He chuckles, rolling his eyes. “I, uh-” He cuts himself off before mentioning the last girl I brought up. “Jules was different for me. I don’t know why but I don’t know if it was love.” He answers simply, taking a sip of his beer as he nods in my direction. “Who’re you in love with, Y/n?” He asks genuinely, my heart pounding as I bite my lip. “Elliot?” He asks with a laugh and I shake my head quickly. “Then who?” The question looms over me as I huff, my head spinning from the alcohol. Do I take the leap and trust that he won’t use this against me?
“If I tell you, you have to know I can’t have this getting out to anyone.” I ask, sitting up straighter as he mirrors me with a stern nod. “I’ve been in love with Fez for like a year now.” I whisper, my eyes leaving his gaze as I close my eyes, tucking my face into my knees. “It’s been really hard and I haven’t been able to talk about it to anyone but Elliot because he gets it.” I explain, my eyes tearing up. “He doesn’t want me and I’m a kid to him. It’s so stupid of me and I hate myself every day because of it.” I add quickly as the truck falls silent, waiting for his answer patiently.
“That makes a lot of sense actually.” He responds simply, my head whipping up to look at him, shocked. “Don’t act so surprised. I get why. I see why, I mean…” He trails off as he looks for the right words to say, clicking his tongue. “He’s super fucking protective over you and he hates when literally anyone touches you. It would be difficult to not fall in love with someone who’s so deep in your personal life.” His words validate something in my brain, tears now streaming down my face as he reaches over, taking my hand in his.
“When he was hitting you, I didn’t know what to do. I just stood there like an idiot and then I finally got him off of you. I didn’t talk to him for days. Not until the day you got out of the hospital and then he told me later on that he was afraid that he scared me away. And I was scared. But then you said something about deserving it and you didn’t blame him but-” I cut myself off with a gasp, my eyes burning as I cry. “I just feel so useless because every time I look at him I get this pain in my chest and my brain goes crazy and I can’t take it.” I whimper, covering my face with my hands as he hums in acknowledgement.
“I think you just perfectly described what love feels like.” He chuckles quietly, his thumb brushing over mine as he squeezes my hand. “Text him back and tell him we’ll be at the party soon. I assume he’s there.” He nods, letting go of my hand to start the car. My eyebrows raise as I look up at him, confused. “Come on. Let’s go have fun and you can spend time with him.” He offers, with a grin. A few moments go by, my eyes still wide at his offer. “Text him!” He orders as I giggle, reaching up to wipe my tears. Picking up my phone with shaky hands, I find his contact.
Me You’re gonna get that time to hang out with me now. We’re on our way to the party but heads up, I am so drunk so you’re gonna need to babysit me.
Grinning to myself as we pull away from the nature reserve, my knee bouncing up and down as Nate rolls down the windows. I cheer loudly, reaching over to turn the music up louder. Nate steals glances at me with a wide smile and I can tell he’s happy that I’m taking a second to let go. Feeling my phone buzz in my lap, I immediately open it, my smile growing at his message.
Fez <;3 I’m in the back on the couch. Sad and alone. Get your ass here. I’ll be waiting.
The drive is short, the winding roads making me sleepy as I sing along quietly. When we pull up to the party, I can tell it’s gonna be a not fun walk to the house. I look down at my outfit, my sweatpants and low cut tank top may not be the best attire for a party. Who cares. Nate comes around the side of the car, opening my door and holding a hand out for me to grasp. Taking it happily, I hop out of the truck as I dance playfully. The music from the house makes my head spin, the thought of seeing Fez making my heart happy.
Pushing our way towards the back of the house, the rowdy teenagers and pretty girls immediately catch Nate’s attention as he sends me off alone. I stumble over my own feet, giggles leaving my lips as I finally make my way out into the back. Even more people stand around the pool, drinks in their hands as vape steam and marijuaa smoke swarms me. Spotting Fez in the back, his legs spread as he looks over the crowd, I grin. He looks so good. He wears a simple t-shirt and sweatpants, similar to my look, with a joint between his lips. Typical. When he spots me, his eyes light up, a grin dancing on his lips as I wave. My stride quickens as I let out a relieved sigh as he sits up straighter, preparing for my presence. Immediately plopping myself directly next to him, his arm going around my shoulder, I let out a groan.
“I am so drunk!” I giggle, my eyes closing as I enjoy the proximity of him right next to me. “I missed you so much like I was telling Nate how cool you are.” My neck cranes to look up to him, a small, teasing smile on his lips as he nods.
“Yeah? Why were you talkin’ ‘bout me?” He asks and I scoff, my eyes rolling as my filter goes out the window. Thank you for the alcohol, Nate.
“I’m always talking about you. Ask Elliot, it’s a mood ruiner.” I snort, watching as his head throws back in laughter, my eyes watching him as he laughs “You’re so handsome Fez. I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about this.” I offer, his eyes widening as he adjusts in his seat to look at me better. “I don’t get why all these girls are going after Nate and jocks. It’s so lame.” Fez snorts, nodding knowingly.
“Thanks, mamas. You’re not too bad lookin’ yourself.” He flirts with a wink, my heart stopping at his words. I blush vividly, my hands coming up to cover my cheeks. “Stop blushing, kid.” He points out, proud of himself. My eyes widen as I move to hide behind my hands, smelling the smoke from his joint as I take a refreshing deep breath. “You are hammered aren’t you?” He asks sincerely and I nod, my sweaty hands coming down to my pants where I wipe them. “Why’d you go get drunk with playboy when you could’ve been here with me, huh?” He asks and I shove him gently.
“He’s my friend and all of you are complaining that I don’t spend enough time with you! I’m delegating between the men in my life!” I sit up, folding my legs underneath me as I turn to him. I take the blunt from his lips, taking a long hit as his eyes watch me carefully. “All of you are so interested in me yet only one of you is giving me something in return.” I wink, watching as he rolls his eyes, gently reaching over to smack my thigh. “I’m really fun! And Elliot knows better than anyone.” I add, pulling out my phone as I try to find the boy's contact. “Speaking of that, I need some place to sleep. Maybe he’ll come pick me up.” Fez’s demeanor drops a bit, his eyes softening at my comment.
“How often are you stayin’ over with other people?” He asks gently, his thumb drawing circles into my thigh. As I type out a message, I think about my reply to Fez carefully.
“Uh, just don’t like being home so I stay with Elliot a lot or I go to Jules’.” I answer simply, pressing send on my phone as I smile. “Elliot can’t keep up with me though, I’ve got him on his toes with all my smooth talkin’.” My words slur together as I look down at my phone, reading over my message as Fez laughs, looking down at my phone too.
Me You should like come to this party and make out with me. And then make me food and let me sleep in your bed. I can’t promise sex cuz I’m hammered but heavy petting and making out will ensure.
Fez laughs at my words, his eyes looking at me gently as I smile softly. A moment goes by, the phone falling out of my hand as I gently snuggle into his side, our eyes not leaving each other. I take the moment to look at his freckles, his eyelashes, the way his lips part as he takes the blunt between his lips. His lips. He looks at me in a similar way, his eyes flicking back and forth between mine as his smile grows. The moment makes my heart swell, my ears ringing as I notice the proximity between us. The sound of my phone buzzing beneath me startles the both of us out of our moment. I huff quietly, Fez leaning back away from me to put some distance between us. Looking down at my phone, watching as Fez looks over my shoulder, I read the message.
Doudou For you, my love? Anything. I personally like when you’re drunk because you’re super fucking funny and you kiss me way more. So yeah, I’m assuming it’s the party at McKays and I’m already out so I’ll be there in a few minutes, bug. Stay where you are!
I giggle, Fez letting out a quiet laugh at Elliot’s response.
“He’s good to you. It’s hard to believe you’re in love with someone else while having that.” My laughter quiets, my head shaking at his obvious obliviousness. “Who is it?” He asks gently, his eyes curious as my face falls.
“I, uh, can’t tell you that.” I whisper in return, his eyebrows pulling together in confusion. “I know I tell you everything and I know this must seem weird that I’m all of a sudden not telling you something but…” I trail off, watching as his lip pulls in between his teeth, hiding his disappointment. “It’s for the best if you’re in the dark about this one for a bit. I’ll tell you eventually. Maybe.” He nods slowly, his eyes leaving mine to look out at the party. “I’m not used to big feelings like the feelings I feel for this guy. Still coming to terms, I guess.” I explain, his head bobbing in a nod.
“You still a kid, man. You’ve got time for that shit.” He adds, my heart sinking at the use of the word kid. “That’s why I get the shit that you’re doing with Elliot. Take your mind off of heavy stuff for a bit.” I nod, looking away from him as my frown deepens. “That’s kind of what hanging out with you does for me.” He admits, my frown evaporating as my jaw slacks. His eyes glaze over as he looks at me but I can tell he’s genuine. “You my best friend, my family. I miss you when you’re not here.” I smile softly at his confession, nodding my head. “I know you’ve got other friends, so do I, I just have favorites. You.” He points out and I chuckle with a nod, my cheeks blushing vividly I’m sure. Looking around the room, I watch as Elliot approaches us with his arms out. “Go on, mamas.” Fez smiles softly at me, and my head spins as I feel bad for leaving him in the middle of his heartfelt words. He gives me a reassuring nod and I smile, giving him a finger to hold that thought. I immediately hop off the couch, my wobbly legs carrying me over to him as I giggle. He immediately picks me up into his arms, my face tucking into his neck as I grin.
“Hiya baby girl.” He whispers, his lips gently pressing against my shoulder. “You hanging with Fez?” He asks, pulling away from me as he sends a wave over to the man who watches us like a hawk. “Let’s go.” He grabs my hand, gently tugging me back over to the couch as Fez smiles up at the man. “Hey man, how are you?” He asks, sitting down on the couch and pulling me onto his lap.
“I’m good.” Fez smiles, his eyes trailing down to look at Elliots hand on my thigh. My eyes widen as his smile drops at the scandalous placement of Elliot’s fingers. His eyes flicker from my eyes to the digits that dance on my thigh. Our eyes meet briefly, his cheeks heating up as I catch his angry gaze. Turning my attention to Elliot with a clear of my throat, he smiles up at me gently. The gentleness of his fingers against my leg makes me smile, my mind trying it's hardest to put away the thoughts of Fez and my whole ‘being in love with him’ thing.
“How you doin’, sexy lady?” Elliot asks, his lips turning up into a smirk as I giggle. Fez shifts uncomfortably out of the corner of my eyes, Elliot picking up on my small frown. “We can get out of here any time, mon chéri.” He whispers, his eyes suddenly softening as I look at Fez and then back to Elliot.
“No, I missed Fez. I wanted to hang out for a bit and then we can leave.” I offer in return, his head bobbing in a nod as Fez grins at his lap. My cheeks heat up as I wrap an arm around Elliot’s neck, my next words being chosen carefully knowing Fez can hear every word. “Can you say more shit in French?” I ask as Elliot blushes, throwing his head back as he laughs.
“I can’t believe with how much drugs he takes that he can speak English let alone another language.” Fez mocks, a smirk on his face as Elliot rolls his eyes playfully. Fez almost looks as if he’s challenging Elliot, especially with the words that leave his lips next. “Come on, pretty boy. Let’s hear some French.” I giggle loudly, reaching over to smack Fez’s thigh as he feigns pain. Elliot squeezes my thigh playfully as he sends me a wink. Oh god, this will be good. Fez waits patiently, his ankle coming up to rest on his other leg as he turns to us.
“Uh…” Elliot trails off for a moment, his eyes scaling my body as I look to Fez, knowing where this is going. Fez raises his eyebrows expectantly, his lips swiping out over his lips as my eyes dart to the movement. He sees me, not that I was trying to hide it, but I blush, quickly looking away. “Il n'y a pas de mots pour décrire à quel point tu es belle.” He responds, his cheeks in a light blush as Fez chuckles, taking a hit from his joint.
“I was expecting random bullshit. Shit, man.” He shrugs, knowing he was wrong and Elliot grins smugly. My hands reach up to gently run my fingers through his hair, my nose bumping against his.
“What did you say?” I ask quietly, Fez’s gaze still on us.
“There are no words to describe how beautiful you are.” He whispers, gently reaching up to trail his fingers down my face, my cheeks heating up as a shiver runs down my spine. I grin like a mad woman, looking away from both of the men as I slide off of Elliot’s lap.
“Alright Fez, I think it’s time for me to go so if you want a hug, now is the time.” I offer, holding out my arms as he chuckles, his dimples popping as he stands slowly. He steps up to me, wrapping his arms around my waist as I wind mine around his neck. “Thank you for not making me tell you about the guy.” I whisper, my hands rubbing over his shoulders as he nods.
“You’ll come to me about it when you need to. I know you.” He chuckles quietly, leaning back as he smiles softly. His eyes flicker back and forth between mine as he steps back, nodding gently at Elliot in a silent goodbye. “Be safe, alright?” Fez asks gently, my head bobbing in a nod as I blush, sending him a soft wave as he looks away with a grin. Turning to Elliot, I reach over to take his hand in mine as we ditch the rest of the party.
