Arranged Marriage Malec fantasy AU with dragons. Because DRAGONS!
Fantasy AU, strangers to friends to lovers, arranged marriage (but the twist is, the marriage isn't arranged by the parents, but by the couple themselves) When Magnus was a child, a group of (wild/untamed, evil, controlled?) dragons attacked his kingdom and caused immense loss to all of its inhabitants. Magnus himself had to witness his mother's brutal death at the teeth of a three headed dragon, traumatizing him greatly and leaving him with a perpetual and insurmountable seeming fear of dragons. While the dragons were eventually fought back, and the kingdom slowly rebuilt itself, Magnus' father, the king, went the opposite side of the scale to his son, not fearing but hating all dragons and wishing them dead. Years later, it seems that King Asmodeus has made enough alliances with other lands to launch an attack on all dragons; including those belonging to the mountain kingdoms, that have been tamed by the people there and live in harmony with the humans. Now Magnus is no less afraid of dragons in his twenties, than he was as a child, but he doesn't wish to eradicate an entire species for the crimes of a few individuals. So he travels to the mountain kingdoms, in hopes of convincing the reigning king/queen/prince/princess to agree to a marriage with him. Because this way, King Asmodeus can't go around killing all the dragons, if his son and heir is married to a dragon rider.

Ninjago: Part 1
The long highway that stretched on for what seemed like forever was starting to come to an end, near the base of a stone mountain. A lone car drove along the street, the engine humming as it pumped cooled air at the passengers- a father, and a daughter.
Case sat in the passenger’s seat, elbow on the door and staring out the window. She held a sketchbook in her lap. Her forearm had been on the cover long enough sweat was making it stick to the book.
“Daddy, where are we going?” She asked, averting her gaze from the bland sight of the sandy desert back to the stoic figure of her father.
“You’ll see,” he answered vaguely, clearly not in the mood for questions.
He hadn’t been in the mood for questions for a week leading up to this expedition. He’d been acting odd, and Case wanted to know why.
“Daddy,” she started one night at dinner. It was a special recipe of chow mein noodles she’d made- her father’s favorite.
“Yes, Case?” He lowered his chopsticks to look at her.
“How come you’ve been acting so weird lately?”
“Whatever do you mean?”
“I mean… you’ve been acting really weird lately- all distant and secretive. And I want to know why.”
“Do you really want to know?”
“... yes,” Case said decisively, after a moment of hesitation.
“Then pack your stuff.”
“What?!”
“You want to know. I’ll show you. Pack your stuff.”
And so, the two spent all the next day on a car trip, with all of Case’s belongings stacked in the back seat.
The car hummed to a stop at the base of the mountain. Case glanced out at the window up at the spiraling steps carved into the side of the mountain. She turned to say something to her father but he was already out of the car.
She quickly got out and walked over to where he was standing at the base of the steps. “I can’t take my bags all the way up there. I don’t have the stamina!”
“Have patience, Case.” He clasped his hands behind him, watching the pale blue sky.
Case grunted and turned, walking towards the car, hating it when he got vague and cryptic like that. Suddenly a shadow passed over the area and Case looked up in alarm as a brown, broad headed dragon landed on the ground with a loud thud. Two people sat atop the dragon, and slid off shortly after it had landed.
“Ah, Alec. It sure has been a long time.” The elder male came forward, stroking his beard.
“Yes, it has, Wu.”
Case stood close to the car, frowning. Wu? Why did that name sound so familiar?
“Case, this is Sensei Wu, an old friend of mine.” Alec set a hand on Case’s shoulder, and gestured to the elder teacher.
Case’s eyes widened. “You mean the one who fought the Snake War with you and mother?”
Alec smiled solemnly at the mention of her mother. “Yes.”
“Snake War? Sensei, what haven’t you been telling us?” The black clothed ninja pushed his mask back, his black hair falling in his face. (all the black. All of it)
“All in due time, Cole.” Sensei Wu stroked his beard, looking at Alec. “I assume you have brought Case to start training?”
“Yes. She has learned all that I can teach her. I feel it is time to pass her on to you.”
“What?” Case looked at Alec. “Daddy, you’re not just gonna leave me!”
“Calm down, Case. We still have a bit to discuss until anything is made official. Do you mind if we catch a ride?”
“Of course not.” Sensei turned back to the dragon and sat on the back. Cole took up the driver’s seat, and Alec helped Case onto the dragon before climbing onto the dragon’s back. Case gripped the dragon’s spines before it launched itself into the air. Her hair whipped back behind her but other than that, she didn’t react.
“It’s odd for it to be so quiet with new riders!” Cole called back.
“I’m not new to this!” Case called back. Alec and Wu smiled.
The dragon landed and the four got off. Wu lead them into the courtyard, where four other ninja were training. The shouting stopped quickly once the doors had been opened.
Alec scanned the group but his eyes stopped at the sight of one ninja in particular- a girl dressed in purple, standing to the furthest right of the group.
Wu looked at Alec. “She has grown since you have last seen her, has she not?”
“Much,” Alec murmured.
Case was in silent awe. The courtyard was equipped with all sorts of training materials she never had access to at home, and it made her giddy thinking she might be able to use it all.
“Let us go into the dining room. There is much we need to discuss.”
Case went with Alec and Wu into the dining room. Wu poured the visitors cups of tea, and Alec thanked him for the both of them.
“Have you told Case about any of this?”
“No. Have you told Emma?”
“I haven’t had the time.”
“Maybe she should be in here as well.”
“Haven’t told me what?” Emma looked in. Wu turned towards the doorway.
“How many of you are listening?”
A moment of hesitation passed before all five of the ninja appeared in the doorway.
“Emma, please come here,” Alec said softly.
Emma narrowed her eyes at the stranger but walked over and took a seat. Wu turned his gaze to the other four. “Leave us,” he said sternly and Cole quickly shut the door.
The adults looked at the two ninja in training.
“Who are you?” Emma asked accusingly. Case sipped her tea silently.
“I am Alec.”
“This is… your father, Emma.”
Emma blinked before growling. “Impossible. You said that my parents were dead.”
“I was not lying,” Wu said quickly. “I simply bent the truth.”
“Your mother is dead.” Alec set his cup down. “Wu, and I and Eliza fought in the Snake War together twenty years ago. Days before the snakes were locked underground, Eliza gave birth to twins.”
“You, Emma… and Case,”  Wu explained.
The two, who had been looking at the adults with wide eyes, suddenly looked at each other.
“I have a twin?!” Emma roared, enraged.
“I have a twin!” Case squealed in excitement.
Emma slammed her hands on the table, causing one of the tea cups to tip over and spill tea on the wood. She stood up abruptly. “How did I go my whole life not knowing this?!”
“We were afraid it would hinder your training,” Alec explained quickly.
“We wanted to keep you separated for as long as possible, to keep emotional attachment from getting in the way,” Wu said with a hint of sorrow in his voice.
“Daddy, can I stay? Please?” Case begged, grabbing her father’s arm suddenly. “If Emma’s here, then I wanna be here too.”
Alec looked at his daughter before smiling warmly. “Of course, Casey. If that’s what you want.”
“It is, it is!”
Emma growled and knocked the fallen tea cup to the ground in annoyance before storming out of the room. Case blinked at the shattered dish before hurrying to follow her sister.

And thus, begins the Ninjago series!! I will also be posting this story to Wattpad, which I will link later once I get that up and running.
Case belongs to me, and Emma belongs to a friend. I will go more in depth on their backstories at a later date.
