Texting habits per judging function

No one asked, but here are some observations I've made in my personal life.

*Note that this probably differs by age, gender, and culture (for instance, I have been told by several Americans that I use an insane amount of emojis, whereas it's not considered weird at all here in Germany).

FJ:

Generally very good at texting, will respond to absolutely every point you make. If you send them a long voice message, they can be found taking notes while listening so that they will not forget to answer any point you made.

Have a very hard time leaving someone on read and if they do, either something happened and they forgot, or they simply don't like you very much. If they open the message, they answer. If they don't have time to answer you right now, they simply will not open the message yet.

If the text conversation is done (i.e. you wrote something like "bye, see you tomorrow!" that does not require another response), they will still at the very least send you an emoji back for no reason other than letting you know that "Yes! I read your message! I'm not ignoring you! I love you!" (Literally every FJ I have ever known does this. Every single one, including myself.)

They will adapt to your style of texting. If you are the kind of person that likes to send a bunch of heart emojis to friends and the FJ friend is not, they will still pepper in a heart here and there. If you generally don't use emojis, they will use them only occasionally. If you reply in wallpaper long messages, so will they. If you break up your messages into several texts one after the other, so will they.

FPs:

Also generally quite good at texting and can actually appear a lot warmer in writing than in person (there have been several instances where I received really lovely messages from FPs who I used to think hated my guts whenever we met in person).

Prepare for emojis. Seriously.

You can have infinitely long text conversations with them. If you are willing to commit, the conversation between the two of you will never end. With NFPs, the conversations usually end up spiralling into nonsense scenarios, while SFPs keep telling you about their day and keep answering you about your day every day.

TPs:

(my texting experience with TPs is unfortunately very limited, so feel free to fill in my blanks)

Fe is very noticeable in the extroverts, i.e. they tend to go the FJ route described above, but in a more nonchalant and more relaxed way. Like with FJs, the focus of the conversation is on you and their dynamic with you.

The introverts (i.e. my dad, i.e. my only point of reference) are bad at texting and prefer to call, so almost all text conversations go something like this: TP: "Hi, I tried to call you, but you didn't pick up. I hope everything is alright with you?" You: "Yes, sorry. Everything's good here, how about you, everything okay?" --- end of conversation ---

TJs:

Generally bad at texting. Also don't really like it and see no point in it, so they usually prefer calling or talking in person.

Will appear colder in writing than in person, especially the STJs. Their answers will be straight to the point. No beating around the bush and no needless extension of a conversation in form of jokes/questions/anecdotes for a bonding experience. If they want to tell you something, they will tell you in person.

Have absolutely zero problem leaving people on read and usually don't mean anything by it.

STJs rarely use emojis, NTJs do but not excessively

If their answer requires them to type anything more than two sentences, they will send you a voice message instead. (Literally every single TJ I know does this, except my INTJ brother who is a complete maniac and calls instead.)

"We're coming!" An all too familiar voice rose above the crowd.

Takashti groaned. "I better not see that mome behind me," He mumbled, too apprehensive to actually look. But he knew. He knew by Saira's teasing grin she shot at him before waving. He knew by the feeling of someone staring at him that it was the mome.

"Takashti!" Jayme called above the din, closer. So much more closer.

Takashti sighed as he turned, his suitcase gliding on the floor. "Jayme," He said.

MBTI has helped me so much deal with the people around me. I'd love to know her type because she keeps coming back into my life no matter how many times I walk away from her and my inferior Si can't say no and my Fi sees that she struggles with herself and others and wants to help her reach her potential and my Fi sees that I'm one of the only people she can be genuine around and feels it's wrong to leave. 

I'm sure that me being a feeler made my description of her too harsh, just like intuitives who wrote profiles of sensors made them dull. Lol. I'm glad you've taken that into consideration. 

If you don't mind, I'll tell you more about her and maybe you could figure out her most likely type. I'll help you out by saying that she is not an ISTJ. Definitely not an Ne inferior. She more impulsive and more open to new things than an ISTJ would be...

ISTP 6 with a 3 fix, then. I don't see strong intuition in her. She seems capable of adapting and being good at it when she's in the moment, but it's the thinking about doing things that trips her up (as a 6, she's afraid to fail, and that ties into her 3 fix which needs to impress other people). Being able to adapt no matter what the situation is STRONG Se, not Ne. INPs aren't good at adapting to a new environment; their Si is too strong to break away and go with the sensory flow. They wind up trying to use whatever is familiar to them. "She said she has an idea of what she wants to achieve, but she usually focuses on the process, not concrete goals" <- that's Se/Ni.

And she's a social dominant. Poor thing. It's all about connections and being approved of and her social reputation and feeling insecure if she doesn't get attention, so she would rather delete that Instagram post than leave it up without any likes on it.

#GetSorted Round-up

The #GetSorted Challenge is over, and I’m still kind of absorbing everything.  Here’s some of what’s been going on from my perspective:

i) I had 19 participants, 14 women and 5 men.  Only 3 were NJs, only 3 were TJs, and only 4 were introverts.  I said before that I thought introverts would be unlikely to enter, and I guess I can stand by that.  If my typings were right, no INFP, INFJ, ISTJ, ISFP.  If wrong… missing an ENFJ, and got an INFJ?  Other than that, there was nothing particularly noticeable, demographically, by mbti.

ii) Sometimes I get the feeling some of you still don’t have a great idea of how my ‘process’ works, such as it is.  Hopefully this gives you a better idea.  Bold is when I settled on a type.  Red is for mistakes.  Purple italics is for partial typing.  (Typings subject to change upon future waffling, but probably only the less than 100% ones in this case).

I had 14 people typed in the first 5 seconds (73%), although one was wrong, and I had the remaining 5 narrowed down to either two or four types.  By end of video I had 15 typed (84%), with four narrowed down to 2-3 types.   After waffling post video and/or talking to my typing team of sisters I had 18 typed  (94%), with one wrong.  After time to reflect (and more consulting), I cleared up the two I’d gotten wrong, so now I’m pretty sure about 17 of the typings (89%). The two left are one of two types.

iii) What made me unsure about types?  Not having good examples for comparison, primarily.  There was only one first impression I had (complete or partial) that felt wrong by the end.  Having a team with other experiences and examples mostly helped fill in the gaps.  Also defending my typings makes me defensive and less objective, which I’m aware of, so I’m willing to give the two in question the benefit of the doubt.

iv) Were the questions effective?  I generally type people with media training who give canned answers, so content is helpful, but secondary for me if things are going well.  I had very few expectations for the content going in - I was mostly trying to give people something to talk about that was not specifically about mbti.  Watching the questions be chosen and interpreted was the interesting part, more so than the actual content of the answers.

Intro questions: for context, what are you up to?

    1. Teacher - a lot of people answered, which was good.

    2. Subject - This one was good for context, but I would combine it with #10 and 16.

    10. Job Passion - mostly ENs said yes!

    16. Other paths - combine with #2

    7. Language - This did what it was supposed to - establish a baseline for non-English speakers, which was great, because there were 7!  Also interesting to hear about all the polyglots.

Personal:

   5. Conflicts - If you were willing to answer this, how personal were you willing to get?  Mostly EFs and then ETJs shared personal strife in remotely any detail.

   8. Younger self - not specifically useful (tended to confirm whatever I was thinking already, but not divulge anything new), but a lot of people answered

Fun:

   4.Supernatural - this was the most answered question (everyone but the ITPs), and I can say that so far there’s not much of a pattern to people’s beliefs.

   6.Character - this turned out to be super useful! People identify with characters who share either 2 or 4 functions and/or 2+ (mostly 3+) letters.

Negative: had the idea that the questions I was asking were mostly positive and I should flip the ‘What’s your favourite-’ thing on it’s head.

   (5. Conflicts)

   11. Holidays - This turned out to be not very useful and kind of a downer.  People who want to be negative are capable of doing so without prompting!

Random:

   3. Sports injury - useless!  Tumblr mbti people are apparently not into sports (go figure!), and all it did was make @enfjpuppettheatre want to hunt down a coach and give them a talking-to.  If I actually wanted to look at this, I’d have to pair up with a physio.

   14. Broke or $$ - nothing conclusive.

   19. Unanswered ?s - not the most interesting, but sort of useful for context, again.

Aimed: trying to see if I could get some specific reactions.

   9. Collect/gather people (E/I, ENTJ, ESFs) - I forgot that ENTJs collect people!  I have a lot of ESFs in person I know who collect people and wouldn’t consider that that’s what they’re doing, which seems to pan out.  (Although not every ESF does).

   12. Heartbreak (ESFP) - I was thinking of my friend who reminds me of CuppaJasmineTea when I put this in, and she was the one most excited to answer, so that was cool!

   13. Cars & tech (T-types) - A lot of these were personal or feelings oriented, so this one was just about the shiny objects.  4/8 T types answered it. Two ESTs and an ESFP picked out a car.  The ESTP’s choice was for story reasons!

   15. Collect Things (Si?) - interesting what people considered collections!  I don’t think this worked as expected, but it was interesting.

   17. Direction & time (Si vs Se) - Si tends to navigate by steps/landmarks/street signs.  Se tends to orient themselves to a landmark/other that I don’t entirely understand.  This is a fascinating question to me that I wish I could ask more about in follow up.  I once spent about an hour quizzing @enfjpuppettheatre on which direction she thought things were.

   18. Steeple (Se vs Si) - Se tended to have more 3d, or cinematic experiences, happening over time.  Si tended to have more 2d, postcard image experiences. STPs were the anomaly, having story/symbolism/metaphor associations.

Exit questions

   1. Prep - more context.  Most of you put a lot more work into these than I was expecting!

   2. Mbti type - the only people who said they were the type I thought they were gave me a couple of types to work from.  My opinion of the mbti test continues to be low...

   3. Description - tended to work as confirmation rather than anything revelatory.

v) Are there any patterns by type as far as content goes?  There were not enough people entering to really make much of this.  Some things were interesting, particularly the STPs leaning into story associations.

vi) Are there any patterns that were not content-oriented?  The time limit gave some interesting results.  Three quarters of the shortest videos were by TPs, but the remaining TP had the longest video.  Also the number of questions answered fell into a pattern:

vii) Would I revise the challenge in any way? 

-As far as content of questions, I would remove the sports injury, joyless holidays, broke or $$ questions, and combine subject/job into one question. Changing the order of questions might lead to different results since most people answered in order and a lot people didn’t have time for some of the ones at the end (I just posted them in the order I came up with them).  I would maybe add some that aimed at functions other than Si-Se.  I would also rewrite the direction question, the people gathering and the steeple questions for clarity.

-Ask about which hand and foot are dominant... I have a theory in progress.

-As far as format of responses, I think I was well-intentioned in replying to everyone as their videos came out, but I would be better off replying in a chart like the one at the top of this post.  Partly it’s easier to keep objectivity and partly because it takes me a while to write out responses, and if there had been greater volume of videos, I might have been in trouble.  The volume was pretty low, though, overall, so I think I’d make it a 2 or 3 week challenge... 2 weeks for video, one for responses?

-I would also ask to keep videos up for however long the challenge is open.  As you can see, the waffling is an ongoing thing, and it helps to refer to the source material!

viii) Anything happen I wasn’t expecting?  Some of the most interesting aspects turned out to be watching people deal with all the instructions (only 9 people out of 19 managed to follow them to the letter) and the time limit.  Everyone was incredibly earnest about the project which was very sweet!  I had a really great time watching them all.  I think the general age and experience of the people typed was a little more varied than I expected, but it seemed to work ok, anyway.

Yes, for 66%, it was instant recognition, so 9:55 too long!  For the remaining 33%, it was ok.

Personally, I’m super intrigued by the concept of MBTI too. Even though I know a lot of factors of the test could be misconceived or put in a perspective of your “ideal” sense of self, I still like how it can be somewhat accurate if one answers categories honestly!

Rambling aside, I already knew a lot about the MBTI types and looked to some of the more popular HQ characters as reference. I analyzed each of the characters’ personality from the anime and parts of the manga to decide which of the 16 types fit them. Then, it was a long process to write them all down and assign a few characters I see fit to match. I even had to get second opinions from my friend who also watches the series. It seems fairly simple, but it’s not really ;w;

— (Just a small disclaimer: I couldn’t analyze all the characters. I know there could be better matches, but I gave up after two hours and used the more relevant characters in the series)

INTJ - Hinata brings out the qualities and emotions INTJs have but don’t usually express. His nature allows the other to develop even just by being around them. They make a good pair because of INTJ’s trust and Hinata’s loyalty. Though his energy may seem draining, I think this pair will work well together in the long run.

ISTJ - Tanaka’s goals align with the ISTJ mindset with romantic relationships. I think ISTJ’s have a fairly traditional mindset. They’re super devoted lovers and that’s exactly what Tanaka needs. I think he can be just a little bit insecure sometimes and that all works out with a reliable ISTJ partner.

INTP - Actually meeting an INTP is difficult, but Oikawa’s interesting personality makes it easy to bring them out of their shell. Because INTP needs aren’t that complex, they don’t mind Oikawa’s busy schedule. One thing that may make this relationship difficult is that they need to recognize Oikawa’s need for intimacy.

ENFJ - ENFJs are always so eager to please their partners, but they tend to skip out on their own needs. The trustworthy and loyal Sugawara would make sure that his partner also gets their fair share in affection. I just think Suga would be super cute in a relationship with an ENFJ hehe

INFJ - Kuroo is the type of person who loves to analyze people, and unfortunately for him INFJs tend to be closed off. He’s attracted to how committed INFJs are to achieve goals. Together, they’d have a good support system.

ESTJ - Communication is key in every relationship and to ESTJs, it’s the most important part of how they choose their partners. Yamaguchi is observant, so along with the ESTJ direct personality, it just goes fluidly together.

ESTP - ESTPs are the type of people who can get easily bored and aren’t afraid to drop a potential lost lasting relationship. Yaku’s temper honestly can clash with an ESTP ideal at first but his integrity attracts them.

INFP - Terushima is the type of person who needs someone to help him settle down. INFP are indifferent toward him at first, but will still find ways to understand him. This pair definitely is that basic shoujo manga pair: popular guy x shy protagonist

ENFP - I kind of debate on this myself because Akaashi himself is either INTJ or ISTJ which makes a big difference on whether or not he is compatible with ENFP. I just think they have a good balance, but I could be wrong. I’m very 50/50 now I think more about it. Maybe Tsukishima would be a better fit? He was a close second when I was writing the original post.

ESFJ - ESFJs are very needy people and constantly want attention from their s/o. Asahi is also quite the traditional thinker, and would give his everything to developing a relationship with an ESFJ. It’ll be an adorable and affectionate pair.

ISFJ - Bokuto is sociable and likes to take risks, whereas the ISFJ type is the total opposite. However, they do share the S (sensing) & F (seeling) qualities that bring them together. ISFJs are caring and protective partners, always observing situations. They can act as a guide to help settle Bokuto’s recklessness.

ISFP - Ushijima can be blunt, but he surely does everything with good intentions. An ISFP may often find themselves lost in the moment, but Ushijima is the perfect rock to latch themselves on to. Their expressive tendency is pleasantly well-received.

ENTP - ENTPs just really loves to speak their mind. They question everything because they’re constantly just analyzing. Tsukishima may find this aspect annoying at first, but he’d understand that everything ENTP says is for self-development. Tsukishima values honesty and enjoys how direct they are.

ENTJ - We’ve seen how Ennoshita “ran away” when things got complicated, but we’ve also seem how he’s grown as an individual. ENTJs are confident and goal-driven, which Ennoshita admires. Above all, his patience with them will prevail in the relationship, and ENTJ will appreciate it a lot.

ESFP - At first, I don’t think an ESFP would even look twice at Kageyama as a potential lover. They’d keep him close as a friend and them come to realize how compatible they are. ESFPs care a lot about their partner- Kageyama may be a total blockhead, but he’d do anything to please his lover.

ISTP - ISTPs can be emotionally unavailable at times which can be a problem to most of their relationships. Though he may be confused, talking it out really helps. Sawamura grants the space they need and don’t tend to dwell on the reason why. That’s because he probably already knows why with his observant disposition.

likes and dislikes, i really enjoy music, reading and generally creative activities, as well as rainy or stormy weather. (i find it very relaxing) i genuinely love learning new things but only in areas i find interesting, otherwise i get bored rather quickly. pet peeves, grammar mistakes and mispronunciations get under my skin more than the average person, i think. i really hate when someone will ask something of me while being vague though, clear instructions are necessary for me to complete a task.

in terms of personality i’m fairly introverted and very awkward and blunt, especially around people i don’t know well. if typology matters at all, i’m an istj 4w3. i’ve been told i can come off as cold but it’s never on purpose, i’m protective and caring towards my loved ones. you might have noticed, but i tend to use a lot of words in speech and writing, probably a fair amount more than necessary. (sorry about that) i usually am perceived as polite because of this but it’s just how i was raised to speak and despite it i’m generally laid back.

in a relationship i lean towards more non-verbal affection, being a bit physically clingy but still enjoy giving and receiving words of affirmation. i value loyalty and transparency the most.

As a fairly introvert who is very awkward and frank especially around people you are not close with probably the reason who Diluc took notice of you. You don’t sugarcoat words to protect other’s feelings, yet when you are facing your loved ones, you are protective and caring. This made him wonder if he can also get this treatment one day.

Having seen the bad side of humanity, he would prefer sincere and straightforward people. If you are one of those bad guys, be prepared to be punished. He dislikes it if someone talks fancily and is vague, why brush around the bush when you can just get to the point? When he confessed to you, he could simply just blurt out "Please date me". Diluc enjoys listening to some soothing classical music and you can hear him humming along softly at times. What is a good way to relax while working other than enjoy some music? When both of you were about to leave for an outing suddenly the weather turned bad and you can only cancel it, suddenly, there's free time and Diluc would choose to stay with you (rather than going back to work). [SJ] Am I an ISFJ or ISTJ?

When I first took the test, I got ENTJ but I never got to analyze it, I just took as fun. Then I started taking it seriously, and found out that even though I may share some ENTJ's characteristics, I'm still far away of being one. I read all the descriptions in the 16personalities web page which in my opinion the test is to bias, but found myself to connect with the ISFJ by reading its descriptions and mostly its strenghts and weakenesses. Then I started to investigate more, and learn of the cognitive functions and started seeing them, at first I did not understand them very well since their explanations were to vague. I still have problem defining a concrete example of these. I also saw youtube video from a guy called Type Tips which shows some photographs of the different mbti types based on socionics taken by a Russian Psychologist called Filatova. My smile related the most to ISFp (SOCIONICS)/ISFJ(MBTI), but problem is my smirk isn´t that large, is a bit shorter. To make it simple: I usually don't like to take a forced direct picture, cause you either have to smile or be serious, so I rather smile to feel comfortable with myself. I prefer indirect photos that catch a real and not make-up event. My natural smile is closed, (I dont like to show my teeth) a small smirk and usually one side bit larger than the other. I could define it as happy and comfortable smile. Also tranquil eyes looking directly to the camera. Thing is when I was little I was so distracted that I did not even look at the camera but then started to learn to look at it when being taken a picture. My second relation to the Socionics smiles was the ISTJ but their smirk is littler than mine. Things about me that may help you determine my type? I like to write. I am not a professional writer as in I need to write better to consider myself an author. My stories are always inspired on something or sometimes it comes out of my mind. My stories are mostly non-fiction and I never apply feelings to it, it is more practical and sometimes I add a joke to it during the narration or dialogue between characters. I mostly narrate than make speech between the characters, as if telling an anecdote. Close relatives have said my stories are good, and to even prove it, I was ask in school to write a fanfiction and the best two students would win. Of course, the vote was from the teacher itself and maybe I was against rookies. I really want it the prize, and I got it. The teacher told me he likes the way I narrate. Writing comes easy to me, ideas. Once I start writing, ideas start coming in, sometimes I might get stuck. I have great grammar, and often correct my friend's spelling mistakes. I have great short-term memory for numbers (total payment, percentage in a test, etc.) but after two or three days I will forget it since it wasn't important. I can remember non important details in an event, mostly speech (someone said something but it wasn't that important) of course, I do not remember the exact words bu t know what it was about. I am passive agressive, and my moral alignment is neutral good. A friend once said that a thing she likes about me is that I am nice to everyone (as long as you don't hurt me physically is ok or deeply, it's ok). I like martial arts and like fighting but not in means of violence, so yeah, I hate bullies and always find peace before fight in a conflict. Fighting is just to practice and improve upon my martial arts skills which are really low. People such as bullies, law and rule brekers, rebels, immature people who don't care about their school grades, I usually think of them as stupid. If I was to have a friend who suddenly tries to do something I am against with adn then gets in trouble, I won´t defend him since it will be breaking a value important to me. I have my own set of values and follow the rules and like to take a few or absolutely no risks; if I do the opposite, I feel uncomfortable. With close relationships, especially friends and family(father, brothers sister, not including uncles, grandpas, etc.): I tend to listen but I am also eager to talk as in to share my opinion. I talk a lot since I extent myself too much or repeat words (I do not get to the point) (do not assume I may be an extrovert since I talk too much, I also listen since this helps me learn from people). With my close friends, I like to be funny and prank a little, without hurting phisically, not to molest my friends is just a way to entertain myself and show some happiness to them. I mean, I listen and formulate my thoughts and then speak when is my turn but since I don´t get to the point, my speech is too long. Also when speaking new ideas come in so I speak even more. Honestly I like to talk longer rather than be assertive and to the point. I must avoid repeating words or sentences as I just did above. I express my opinion and though on a certain topic easily among closed friends, in public I rather say something short and non important or say nothing. I value my closed friends and family. I feel hurted emotionally when being insulted, but I don't cry unless I feel guilty for myself or if I get hurt physically (realy hurt). I can sometimes being stubborn on trying to be right and defending a point of view. Once, I am proved with great logical argument and concrete evidence that I am wrong, I accept it and say sorry. I usually say sorry for everything when doing something wrong (of course when I know I was wrong). Another thing about me is that wnen in a conflict and argument, I interrupt when someone makes a bad assertion of me since I think it is unncessary since not being real and hate hearing things that are not real, but it is also my fault, and I must let the person finish. I am a patient and impatient person (depends on the situation and how many times it has happened and with whom). Other things about me: I like reading comics, and friends (I called some of them friends since I had a relationship with them before, but I do not talk them as usually as with my closed friends which are more important although family comes first, as long as they treat me good which as far as today, nothing uncomfotable has happended) in school regognize and say my name when I see them (maybe its because I was nice to them, and they appreciate it that). When a person is being hurted emotionally and mostly physically, I tend to feel uncomfortable and go to help that person and give him specific concrete advice as if to say "You must defend yourself, or you'll get hit harder". I help a person when he/she really needs it for example: The person drops something and it is out of reach, I pick it up and give to him. Someone forgot something, I keep it with me and give it until I see him/her. But for example, a person trying to fix a car but she is struggling, I won't be the type of person that asks "Do you need help? Can I help you?, I simply don´t help and ignore because I believe you need to learn to solve things by yourself and become independent. When friends ask me for advice which is rare, I give them advice based on past experience and what I think is the right thing to do, but honestly I prefer that people get me away from their personal conflicts (there is a reason why psycologists exist, and I am not one of them). I like chess, xiangqui, shogi, and basicaly strategy games that require a lot of use in the intellect. I hate strategy games that require economy and army maangement, I prefer implementing ideas meaning tactics and strategy. A perfect game of strategy would be one that requires the use of many weapons and the manipulation of the battlefield. When thinking, I hate being sitted down all the time so I get up and start moving around (in my house of course, outside I would be seeing weird), this mode of thinking energizes me and helps me think faster and ideas come easily. When I am interacting with my friends I dont think a lot, but when I am alone I tend to think a lot. I make up imaginary conversations set in the future about a certain topic with closed friends (not all) or family (not all) but usually dont happen. Sometimes I make this but in a past setting that already happened in real life but a few things were missed to say during that moment and day. I am not good nor so bad at future forecast, it simply isn't in my nature, but when I do make a future forecast, it is based on past experiences or things I have seen before. Some friends say I am weird and unpredictable. Maybe I am just not good socialzing. I have great grades, honestly school is easy if you really want to learn and care about your future. I use facebook rarely, mostly whatsapp which has an importan use. I have facebook since two , three, four, five years ago and have not posted a single thing. The only thing in my profile, is my profile picture (my first one and I have not change it) and very very few persons celebrating my birthday and me replying "thanks". I do not use Instagram, Snapchat or any other useless and boring social media. Twitter is not boring and useless but I do not like it, so I do not have it. One last thing to say is that ISFJ are easygoing, and I tend to be easygoing. When I am interested in a topic (very interested), I investigate a lot and stay addicted for a long time (could be months or even a year). I proscrastinate too much and usually do my homework late, since organizing a schedule for me is complicated since I have a hard time following it.
