Hey! I really enjoy your writing! I’m a new writer on here and I was wondering if you have any tips on how to get your fics out there?

Hi anon! Thank you so much! Before I begin, please feel free to send me a link to your stuff if you're comfortable! I wanna read it! Also, I'm by no means an expert on this kind of thing, and my blog is still kinda small, so please take what I say with a grain of salt, hahaha.

EDIT: I asked some of my fellow writer friends for their advice too, so all our advice will be under the cut!

I would definitely recommend posting on more than one website if you can. I have an account on tumblr, on archive of our own/AO3 and on wattpad, and I post my fics on them all. I find AO3 is really great for tagging your fics, which makes it a lot easier for readers to find them. Of course, if you want to stay on tumblr, that's totally okay, but a lot of my fic engagement comes from AO3 too.

Reblogging is your friend! Especially timezone reblogging. After all, tumblr’s a big place used by people from all over the world. Don't be ashamed of reblogging your stuff a few times so people see it!

If you can, join some writing challenges! Everyone’s work usually gets added to a big masterlist and people can find your stuff from there!

Make writing friends! We all have a big support network, and we’re all here for each other!

Also, obviously writing for a big fandom like Stranger Things or Marvel will help get your work out to more people, but the best advice I can give is write what you want. In one of my other fandoms there were 4 fics for one character and I’d written half of them. And people still read them! If people want it they’ll find it. The same goes for the type of fic you write. Obviously smut/dark do really well, but my fluffy fics still get notes!

As a writer, you’re gonna have to be able to come off anon. It’s the only way to build relationships

This may be obvious, but respect other people’s writing. Just because you might not want to read or write a certain type of fic doesn’t mean others feel the same way. Trust us, acting like you’re better than others for not writing certain stuff is only gonna make you seem like an asshole to potential readers

Keep an updated masterlist pinned or linked on your blog so it’s easy for new followers to find your writing

Everyone’s writing style is different, so please don’t compare yourself to others.

Also, please don’t only message people just for them to boost your fics and nothing else, cause it’s a shitty thing to do.

Often, you can’t read everything your friends write, and vice versa, either due to time issues or the fics not being the sort of thing you like to read. But sharing them is still a big help for everyone.

I wasn’t able to attend the second week because UNFORTUNATELY i got corona after the first week of classes 🥹 so I had to self isolate 🥹 I broke down bc of that lmao

BDJSKWNSJ i missed a lot in the second week so I had to double time 🥹 and this third week we have four exams, two exams each day 🥹🥹🥹🥹 but i’m still fighting 🫡 PRAYING FOR A SUCCESSFUL SEMESTER. Bucky (or Mickey?) is such a sunshine and a sweet companion for the summer. I bet he'd make my summer like a adventurous romcom.

But then there's Ari, who's simply a God.

I mean, with Ari I could just watch him naked, or half naked on the beach and it would be the peak of my summer 🥵 Not to mention my size kink turning rabid at the thought of spending all summer with him.

How am I supposed to choose just one?! 😭

Aaaargh! I'm picking Ari. Even if it's just a one time summer fling and he breaks my heart, I can't resist him (and I'm down for him breaking my 😺). It's a bad choice maybe, I know.
