Fluff prompt: The first time little Dolores said Bruno's name
I love them, your honour 💕
Tumblr media
Dolores was a year old. She'd already lisped, "Mamí" and "Papí," and now it seemed that everyone was eager to hear what she'd say next. Would she say the name of an object, or another family member?
"Can you say Abuela?" Alma cooed, poking Dolores's nose. "Hm? Abuela?"
Dolores only squeaked and giggled. Pepa was preparing some lunch for her when Bruno walked into the kitchen. He looked exhausted and there was still a faint emerald shimmer to his eyes.
"You okay, Bruno?" Pepa asked.
"Eh..." He blew a raspberry, ignoring Alma's sighed request to Please act his age.
At the sight of him, Dolores perked up in her high-chair. It was a typical sight; she held out her tiny fists, wriggling eagerly, her eyes bright and her smile wide. She squeaked again and again.
Bruno glanced at Pepa for permission. When Pepa nodded, he lifted Dolores up, cradling her close.
"Hola, mí luz," he said softly. "Have you been good?"
"B'uno!" Dolores cried in delight.
They all froze. Pepa nearly dropped the spoon. Alma stared in surprise, but her expression softened as Dolores once more said, "B'uno!" and tugged on Bruno's hair.
For a moment, Pepa thought her brother was about to start crying. His eyes watered, but his grin was as bright as the rainbow above Pepa's head.
"Yeah," he said as Dolores giggled and rested her little chin on his shoulder. "That's me."
"B'uno," Dolores said again. "Mamí! B'uno!"
"Sí, baby!" Pepa laughed. Her rainbow grew in size and brightness. "That's your Tio Bruno!"

If you’re still feeling the Isa feels, maybe her and Bruno bonding over being the former golden children ?
I always have Isa feels 😁
Tumblr media
"It suits you," Tio Bruno said and Isa looked up from her garden in surprise.
"What does?" she asked.
Bruno gestured to the wild, rambling garden; the strange flowers, the creeping vines and ivy, the cacti and various trees, even the shrubs she'd trimmed herself, turning them into the shape of animals and people.
"This," he said with a smile. "Being yourself."
Isabela grinned at him. With a wave of her hand, a patch of bright orange lilies grew, and Bruno's smile widened.
At long last, Isabela was unapologetically herself. But, sometimes, the guilt was there; the nagging sense that she was doing something wrong, that Abuela would be so unhappy, so angry, so disappointed...
"Tio Bruno?"
"Hm?"
"When did you stop worrying about what Abuela thought so much?" Isa asked. "People used to...To treat you like me, sort of. That's what Mamá said; when you were little, people were amazed with your Gift, they expected you to be perfect. Only..."
"Only I wasn't," Bruno said with a small, sad smile. He shrugged and brushed his hair out of his eyes. She saw a rat poke its nose out of his pocket and smiled to herself.
"I'll never really stop worrying about what she thinks," Bruno admitted. "She's my mother, of course I want her to be proud of me. But if she's proud of a lie, what's the good in that? If it's not really me then..." He looked at her, more relaxed now. "Then I don't want that. Not anymore."
"I don't either," Isabela said. She looked at her wonderfully chaotic, colourful garden with pride. "I just want to be myself from now on."
"Give them hell, kid," Bruno said, clapping her on the back. "Show them all exactly what you can do."
She would. Isabela promised herself that, every day for the rest of her life, she would show the world what she could do.

Prompt: Toddler Dolores is Bruno’s favourite and Isabela gets jealous
Ooh 👀👀
Tumblr media
The funny thing was, Isabela normally clung to Alma, clutching her abuela's skirt or toddling after her. She was always delighted to be in her abuela's arms as Alma proudly showed her off.
That wasn't to say that little Isa disliked her Tio. Far from it. It was obvious she loved him, just like she loved all of her family. But Alma was her favourite, after her parents. Just like how Bruno was Dolores's favourite, after Félix and Pepa.
So it was a surprise to Julieta to see her toddler pout at the sight of Dolores running on slightly shaky legs to Bruno, clinging to his ruana and giggling quietly.
And Isa, always headstrong, abandoned her place at Julieta's side to stomp (as best as a two-year-old could) across the courtyard to Dolores and Bruno.
Bruno was sitting on the ground with Dolores, gently bopping her on the head with one of her favourite teddy bears. Dolores giggled every time, trying to grab the toy.
As Julieta watched in bemusement, Isabela practically threw herself at her Tio, wrapping her chubby little arms around his neck with a huff. She was still pouting, eyes narrowed. If Julieta didn't know any better, she'd say Isa was outright scowling.
"Hey pequeña rosa," Bruno said fondly. "What's up?"
Isabela only huffed, sitting down and leaning against Bruno, one tiny fist still holding his ruana. Her little nose was in the air; she didn't bother to give any sort of answer. She looked, for all the world, like a princess holding court.
"Uh, Juli?" Bruno glanced over to her, looking lost.
Julieta, trying not to giggle, began to clean Isabela's toys away. "Looks like it's a Tio day," she said. "Shout if you need rescuing from the big bad toddlers, hermanito."

Dolores receiving a hug from Bruno?
Tumblr media
Dolores had always enjoyed hugs from her family. She'd listen to their heartbeats and block out the rest of the sounds around her.
Her parents' hugs were the best. She loved when Antonio ran to her for a hug. She loved how Camilo would give one-armed hugs in public, trying to look cool, but would cling to her at home.
However, it had been ten years since she had a Tio Bruno hug. She had a lot of catching up to do.
It became a part of her new routine: at breakfast, every morning, she'd hug each member of her family. And if she hugged Tio Bruno longer than she hugged everyone else, that was her own business.
Tio Bruno's hugs hadn't changed: they were surprisingly strong; they were warm and safe; she could smell incense and tea.
Well, there was one change: she was taller than him now.
"Good morning," she said quietly, still hugging him.
Bruno's smile was slightly bemused. No doubt, he'd noticed how long she was holding on. "G'morning, mi luz," he said. Despite his apparent confusion he didn't pull away; he stayed put until Dolores was ready to let go.

If you’re still taking prompts, a part 3ish to the baby Dolores and baby Mirabel favouriting Bruno:
10 year old Dolores and 4 year old Mirabel fighting over Bruno’s attention
I'm just imagining each of them tugging on an arm each as if Bruno's a doll 😂
Tumblr media
Félix took one look and burst out laughing. Agustín wasn't much help either: his grin was outright evil.
"All good, bro?" Félix asked cheerfully.
Bruno, stuck in between a bickering Mirabel and Dolores, sighed. Dolores was a quiet kid, but stubborn. Mirabel was usually very cheerful, but she could be an unstoppable force of nature when she wanted.
"We're busy!" Dolores said yet again, frowning at Mirabel. "Aren't you meant to be with Isa today?"
"I don't wanna play with Isa," Mirabel insisted. "I wanna play with Tio Bruno!"
"And we are busy, Mira!"
"Ay, Lola, she can join in," Bruno sighed.
"Nope," Dolores said.
"Hey now," Félix said. "Learn to share."
"I'm not a toy, Félix!"
"Could have fooled me, the way they're bickering."
"Bruno gets the kids fighting for his attention," Agustín said. "And I get Camilo putting a whoopie cushion on my seat."
"No, pretty sure that was Félix," Bruno said.
"Bro!" Félix protested, while Agustín rounded on him.
Meanwhile, the girls was still arguing. In fact, they seemed to have forgotten Bruno was there; or at least they didn't notice when he stood and joined their fathers, trying to stop Félix and Agustín from throttling each other.

Prompt, if you like it: The first time adults Madrigal noticed that baby Dolores was very fond of her Tío Bruno (Sorry if my english is wrong)
And Anonymous asked: Fluff prompt: in your opinion, when the adults Madrigal noticed that little Dolores was very happy when she saw Bruno? If you do this prompt, i thank you in advance
Tumblr media
Dolores was only a few months old when it really sunk in for the family that she was attached to Bruno.
It was simple enough: he tried to hand her to Agustín and Dolores, the quietest baby any of them had ever met, full-force wailed.
Pepa came running, a cloud over her head, alerted by Dolores's continued screams. "What's going on!?" she demanded.
"I don't know!" Agustín said frantically, uselessly patting Dolores on the back. "She just started screaming!"
"Ay, give her here!" Bruno yelped, holding his arms out. Agustín needed no further prompting.
Bruno meant to pass Dolores to Pepa (who was frantically shooing away her cloud) but it was the strangest thing: as soon as he was holding her, she fell silent again. She let out a tiny sigh, one fist clutching his ruana. She flopped against him, sucking on her free fist and staring up at him.
"...Huh," Bruno said blanky.
"I'm trying really hard not to take that personally," Agustín said, rubbing the back of his neck. Dolores only cooed, drool coating her fist.
Pepa snorted, stroking her braid as she breathed out in relief. She patted Dolores on the head and grinned at Bruno.
"Looks like you're stuck with her, Bruno," she said, giggling.
Bruno looked down at Dolores's wide brown eyes and smiled, cradling her closer.
"I don't mind," he said. He didn't mind at all.

Kind of a part 2 to the baby Dolores being fond of Bruno: baby Mirabel also being fond of Bruno and the adults joking he is the baby whisperer.
Best Tio Bruno 👏👏👏
Tumblr media
Bruno was good with the kids and the whole family would acknowledge it. Even Alma, who rarely gave outright praise, said that Bruno was good with his nieces and nephew.
They also knew he was Dolores's favourite. After her parents, he was the closest with her; she'd forever follow him around, clinging to his ruana.
And now it seemed that baby Mirabel, only a few months old, was following in her cousin's footsteps. She'd been oddly clingy all day, wailing whenever Julieta or Agustín put her down. In the end, however, they had duties to attend to and Julieta passed a screaming Mirabel to Bruno.
For a moment, Bruno froze. No one in La Casa Madrigal was a stranger to screaming babies (God knew they could burst your eardrums) but Mirabel was always such a cheerful little thing that he floundered.
She didn't need feeding or changing. Julieta said it was way too early to be teething. Mirabel just seemed to be having an off day.
Well, Bruno could relate.
"I know, I know," he said quietly, trying not to rock her too desperately. "Everything's a bit much right now, huh?"
Mirabel outright screeched.
"Same, bébé, same," Bruno sighed. Quietly, he began to hum his papá's song, Dos Oruguitas. It usually did the trick.
As expected, it once more worked its magic. As Bruno slowly paced the courtyard, gently rubbing Mirabel's back and humming, her screaming and sobs slowly stopped. She fell into an exhausted sleep, only stirring when Bruno finally sat in the living room. She scrunched up her little nose but once she realised she was still being held, she fell back asleep.
Yep, just an off day. Just a clingy day.
Fair enough, Bruno supposed.
He ended up falling asleep himself, only waking to the sound of Pepa's giggles. She stood in the doorway, sunshine radiating from her and Camilo in her arms.
"Are you sure babysitting isn't your real Gift?" she asked, careful to keep her voice down.
"Nope," Bruno said. "That's acting."
"You wish, Bruno." Her gaze softened. "You're good with them. All of them."
Bruno, never the best at taking compliments, shyly smiled. "Gracias," he said, as Mirabel continued to doze against his chest, her tiny hands clutching his ruana like a lifeline.

Prompt, if you like it: Dolores's Gift ceremony (with Dolores and Bruno content, because i love them and their relationship so much💕)
They’re another dynamic duo, change my mind
This is more of the aftermath of her ceremony than the ceremony itself, but it’s Bruno being a proud member of the Dolores Madrigal Protection Squad
Tumblr media
The poor kid had finally stopped crying.
Dolores was still shivering and clinging to Pepa. Bruno hovered, feeling useless, but Félix was helping to make the crowd outside shut up (or hopefully leave) and Dolores outright wailed when Bruno offered to go help.
So here he was, watching his poor niece as the tears stopped.
Super hearing. Every sound in the valley suddenly pouring into Dolores’s little ears. She touched her doorknob, there was the usual golden flash…and then she’d fallen to her knees, hands over her ears, screaming like she was being tortured. Bruno just about had a heart attack there and then.
Pepa and Félix had immediately pushed past Alma to their daughter, Isabela had been sobbing, “Lola’s hurt!” and the watching crowd had just gotten louder and louder in their demands to know what was wrong.
And then some idiot set off the fireworks.
To Bruno’s surprise, Félix emerged from Dolores’s new room only a few minutes later, grim faced. He’d grabbed Bruno and said, “Help her,” before rushing into the crowd.
Only now, as the sobbing stopped, did Bruno notice how unnaturally silent the room was. It was a huge room, of course, all the magical bedrooms were (except Mamá’s, which was a replica of her old home) and it was filled with plush furniture, a thick fluffy carpet and Bruno could see music boxes, wind chimes and small musical instruments and knickknacks; things that would make soft, soothing noises.
Bruno sighed as he looked around. He wasn’t often angry at Casita, but he sure was now. Or should he be angry at the candle? Maybe both.
He was snapped back to reality when Alma opened the door a crack. The shouting had all stopped, but Bruno could hear the thrum of many voices and Dolores whined, curling up small.
Alma looked stricken at the sound, quickly stepping inside and closing the door behind her. “Mija, we need your help,” she whispered. “To reassure everyone that Lola is well.”
Bruno tensed, wishing he could scream that Dolores clearly wasn’t well. But what good would screaming do? It would just hurt his niece even more.
Pepa didn’t look happy. Her cloud darkened and she took deep breaths in and out; Bruno could see how hard she was straining to make sure there was no thunder.
Despite her reluctance, she handed Dolores to Bruno. His arms wrapped around Dolores on instinct and her little hands dug into his arms, her face hidden against his shoulder.
“I’ll be right back,” Pepa whispered, tears in her eyes. She stroked Dolores’s hair and left with Alma, trembling with the effort of keeping somewhat calm.
After a moment, Dolores quietly said, “It hurts.”
Just like that, Bruno was on the brink of crying. How was this fair? Why was Dolores given a Gift that hurt her? She didn’t deserve to be sitting here in pain, she should be enjoying her birthday!
But he couldn’t say any of that. Instead, Bruno held onto her, humming Dos Oruguitas as quietly as he could. Dolores tapped her fingers against his shoulders, in time with the beat.
Bruno couldn’t take the pain away, he couldn’t make the Miracle give her a new Gift. He couldn’t even make the villagers shut their mouths for once.
But he could do this. He’d stay with her as long as she needed, for as long as she wanted.

Hi there! I saw that you were talking Isabela prompts since it’s her birthday. Since there isn’t a ton of content that touches on her and Bruno’s relationship, I’d enjoy a fic about her first birthday after Bruno came back.
Sure thing! 🌸
Tumblr media
Birthdays were always a big deal in the Madrigal family. Sometimes too big. They often ended up being parties for the village, rather than the birthday girl or birthday boy. They became bigger celebrations than the introverted ones would like, and not even what the more extroverted ones wanted anyway.
After all, the parties always circled back to the magic somehow. It wasn't about the individual, but the Miracle and their community.
This year was different. This year, everyone finally got to celebrate their birthdays the right way.
It was Isabela's birthday and Bruno had been pondering what to get her for weeks. Isabela firmly rejected anything "perfect," these days and told everyone she didn't want anything pastel or pink. She wanted bright stuff, new stuff.
Julieta would probably kill him for it, but Bruno went and got Isabela a lot of hair dye. It would last longer than her pollen streaks and he got her more colours: purple, red, green, orange and different shades of blue. And, of course, the normal hair colours like blonde and brown.
Isabela immediately whooped (something he hadn't heard her do in years) and tightly hugged him.
"Oh, this is going to be so much fun!" she said with an almost vicious glee. Daisies appeared in her hair as she grinned.
"I'm glad you like it, Isa," Bruno said. Julieta was giving him a look that promised retribution. She was happy for Isabela to express herself, but even Bruno knew she was going to get the dye all over Julieta's nice clean towels.
"Can I do your hair, Tio?" Isa asked.
Bruno ruffled her hair, smiling fondly. "Absolutely not," he said sweetly. "But knock yourself out, kid."

Prompt: Bruno taking a nap in the hammock and Antonio want to take nap with him. It would so cute having Antonio spending more time with his Tio Bruno.
Bruno and his merry band of niblings
Tumblr media
Antonio was a cuddly kid and the whole family knew it. He'd also taken a shine to Bruno. According to Antonio, the rats gave his uncle a glowing review, even referring to Bruno as their parent.
Pepa teased him relentlessly for it, but Bruno had been delighted.
All this to say, it wasn't a surprise to find Antonio curled up on the hammock in Casita's courtyard with Bruno. What was surprising was that Bruno was fast asleep, the latest book he'd been reading still open on his chest.
As Pepa watched, Antonio took Bruno's arm and draped it over himself, curling up against his Tio's side and closing his eyes with a happy hum.
"Mijo?" Pepa stepped closer. "Maybe you should let your Tio sleep." God knew her brother didn't get enough sleep. If he was resting now then she didn't want to risk disturbing him.
"I won't wake him," Antonio promised, cracking an eye open. "I wanna nap too." He looked so earnest, his big eyes pleading with Pepa to not make him move.
It was an unfair move, honestly. How was Pepa supposed to say no to that adorable face?
Besides, Antonio was right; he hadn't woken Bruno. So, what was the harm?
"Hmm..." She wavered uncertainly.
Antonio's eyes widened, his pout deepened. Bruno made a soft, sleepy sound, subconsciously curling up in his usual little ball, which only tucked Antonio more against his side.
"Okay," Pepa said, caving in. Judging by Antonio's beaming smile, he'd known she would.
She couldn't quite hold back her own smile as she went to make herself some lunch. When she came back, Antonio and Bruno were fast asleep in the hammock.
Not too long ago, Pepa had feared that Antonio would never meet Bruno. She'd certainly never begrudge them spending time together, even if it was just a nap.
Now if only she could find the camera. Maybe she could take a photo quick enough, before the sound or flash could wake them.

If you're still taking requests, how about Pepa being sliiightly jealous that Bruno can make baby Dolores stop crying instantly
Always open to requests! 💕
Tumblr media
Look, Pepa had a newborn. She could hardly be blamed for being grumpy.
Add on that said newborn only seemed happy to fall asleep in her uncle's arms, not her mother or father's and...Well...Maybe she was a little jealous. Just a little.
A tiny bit.
It all came bursting out one day shortly after lunch. Dolores had been fussing all day. Félix handed the baby to Bruno as he went to take a bath and Dolores just...Calmed down. Just like that. She snuggled against Bruno, her wide eyes trained on Pepa.
Despite her best efforts, a cloud appeared.
"She likes you better than me," Pepa mumbled. She felt ridiculously teary and braced herself for the inevitable Pepa, you have a cloud, or some teasing.
But Bruno never called her out for having a cloud. And this time he didn't tease her.
"What?" His eyebrows rose, his smile was gentle, if a little amused. "Don't be ridiculous. You're her mamá. Of course you're her favourite." He held Dolores out to her. Her daughter stared at her with those beautiful big eyes, her little mouth pursed.
Her tiny hands reached out for Pepa and she gave a gummy smile.
Sniffling, beaming, Pepa took Dolores and held her close.
Within moments, Dolores was asleep in her arms.
"See?" Bruno asked quietly. "Told you so."
Pepa grinned at him, a rainbow appearing above her head.
"Yeah, yeah, Mr. Know-It-All," she said softly. "Gracias, Brunito."

Have you done any prompts where Dolores and Isabela are playing with Bruno when they’re little? (Like 4-5 years old?) I always had this Headcannon where the girls would love to come into his room and build Sandcastles and he would always get buckets of water to help them make the sand proper.
I haven't yet! That sounds adorable 💕
Tumblr media
Sandcastles never failed to distract Isabela and Dolores.
Once more, Bruno was on babysitting duty. He didn't mind; far from it. He was happy to. Besides, Julieta needed to focus on Luisa for a while, the poor kid was teething and, needless to say, Luisa wasn't having a good time.
Isabela only got upset at the sight of her sister in tears which upset Dolores in turn. The easiest way to take their mind of it was to let them have free reign of the sand in Bruno's room. It didn't matter if they made a mess: Casita would usher the sand back into place and it kept them out of the mud. God knew if they came inside covered in grass and mud stains, Mamá would have his head.
So. Sandcastles.
He filled a bucket with water, poured it over a big pile of sand and told the girls, "Go nuts."
Their first sandcastle crumbled. The second looked like...Well, like a shapeless lump. Third time was the charm: this one stayed upright and Isabela and Dolores were happy to stick little flags on top, while Bruno used his finger to gentle draw doors and windows along the sides.
Isabela took charge, telling Bruno and Dolores where to decorate. She even brought some daisies from the garden to decorate the sandcastle.
Dolores seemed content to let Isabela give the orders. So long as they weren't arguing, Bruno didn't mind. It was their game after all.
"We're queens of the sandcastle!" Isabela declared. Dolores nodded happily.
"Oh? What am I?" Bruno asked with a grin. "The servant?"
Isabela shook her head, her hair whipping at her face. "No, no!" she insisted. She pointed at Bruno and said, "Prince of the sandcastle!"
"Well then, thank you, Queen Isa," Bruno said, giving her a theatrical bow. Isabela giggled while Dolores tried to copy the bow. It was a little wobbly, but she managed it, beaming all the while.

Hi I hope you feel better soon, in the meantime I'll do my best, maybe some Bruno and Dolores bonding, being the two oddballs of the group in Senorita Perfectas, can fluff or hurt/comfort, up 2 u.
Thank you! Finally getting some rest 💕
Tumblr media
"That was mean, Lola."
"I don't know what you mean, Tito," Dolores said primly, nose in the air.
Bruno's eyebrows rose so far they disappeared behind his hair. Okay, maybe Dolores was being a little obvious; she only called him Tito when she knew she'd done something wrong and felt bad about it.
It was a habit she'd had since she was tiny, and one she'd yet to break.
"Five babies?" Bruno asked, arms folded. "Really, kid?"
"She's lucky I didn't say ten," Dolores muttered, avoiding his eyes, too much like Pepa's for comfort. They seemed to pierce her skull to see every thought inside her brain.
In other words, Bruno knew she was full of it.
"Ay, Dolores..." Even if he was annoyed with her, Bruno still held his arms out.
Dolores didn't hesitate to fling herself into her uncle's hug.
Okay, maybe it was petty of her. Maybe it was mean. Isabela couldn't help that Mariano loved her...
But Dolores loved him so much, and she was sick of Abuela talking on and on about the "perfect match," and her "perfect Isabela." Let alone her stupid "new generation of magical blessings." As if Dolores needed to hear all that, first thing in the morning!
Add on that she'd heard Isabela fretting and pacing in her room, throwing herself onto her bed and lifting it high up into the air as she muttered and mumbled to herself, so oddly like their uncle...
"I can't do this. No, of course I can. I want to marry him, I do. Of course I do. It's fine. I'm fine. I'll be fine."
Isabela was panicking and it wasn't just pre-proposal jitters.
Isabela didn't want to marry Mariano at all. She didn't love him.
Yet when Dolores quietly asked, again and again, if there was anything Isabela wanted to talk about, Isa just gave her that perfect smile and tucked a rose into Dolores's hair.
"What is there to talk about?" Isabela would respond every time, gliding away and leaving rose petals in her wake.
Dolores loved Isa, she knew her cousin was freaking out big time, but Mariano loved her; he sincerely loved her. He had no idea that Isabela didn't feel the same way.
How was that fair? Why should Dolores feel bad just because Isabela was lying to everyone, including lying to herself?
And to top it all off, Abuela still denied the cracks existed. Typical! Everything had to be perfect after all.
The perfect familia Madrigal.
If being perfect meant lying every minute of the day, then Dolores would rather be imperfect with her favourite uncle.
Bruno sighed and pulled away, patting her shoulder.
"Sand waterfall time?" he asked.
"Yes please," Dolores said, quickly hurrying to her Tio's tower, where the sound of falling sand would drain out everything awful.

Fluff prompt, if you like it: Bruno combs Dolores with what will become her favorite hairstyle
Aaawww 💕
Takes place in the “With The Dawn You Rise (With The Day You Blaze)” ‘verse
Trigger warning: brief mention/allusion to Bruno’s suicide attempt
Tumblr media
The funny thing is, the hairstyle was an accident.
Dolores was only two. It was a few weeks after…It. Bruno wasn’t allowed to be by himself and he’d barely spoken a word after yelling at Alma to leave Julieta and Pepa alone.
Pepa had never heard Bruno yell so loudly.
But she digressed: the hairstyle was an accident.
Dolores and Isabela were the only people who got Bruno to smile at all; weak, sad smile though it was, at least it was a smile. The two giggly toddlers managed to keep him focused for more than a few minutes at a time.
With that in mind, Pepa dragged Bruno to her room to help her with the girls. She’d promised to watch Isabela while Julieta and Agustín were out. She was fixing a ribbon in Isabela’s hair when Dolores pressed a red ribbon into Bruno’s hand with a squeak.
They were just messing about. Bruno sat Dolores in front of the mirror, gently teasing her by twisting her hair in wild directions while she quietly giggled.
When he gently pulled her hair up into a bun, into a shape that resembled a pineapple, Dolores clapped her hands.
“Yes!” she squeaked. “Yes please!”
Dolores was not usually an excitable child, so Pepa’s interest was caught. And what do you know, the hairstyle did look cute.
Very cute, actually. It suited her.
So Pepa took over, styling it properly and tying the bun in place with the bright red ribbon. Dolores was delighted, rushing over to show Isabela.
“It suits her,” Pepa said, squeezing Bruno’s shoulder. “I’ll have to style it like that again sometime.” She smiled at Bruno, hoping he’d smile too. “Maybe you should be a hairdresser, eh?”
Bruno’s smile was tiny. A shadow of a smile, nothing like the smile that Pepa had grown up with.
But he was smiling. That was what mattered. He was smiling and there was some light in his eyes.
Isabela loudly proclaimed she wanted the same style and Pepa got to work. All the while, Dolores sat on Bruno’s lap, proudly showing off her hair again and again, the loudest Pepa had ever heard her daughter get.
Funny, what a difference a change in style can make.

If you're still doing prompt: After rebuilding Casita, Bruno brings home a hairless rat to Casita much to the family's surprised and somewhat disgust expect Antonio who found it cute.
The hairless rat doesn't like the family and would always hissing at them especially at Camilo, expect he only likes Bruno and Antonio.
Weird animal shenanigans 👏👏
Tumblr media
Antonio named the hairless rat Diego. According to Antonio, most animals who came to him already had names, but in some cases they didn't. Usually when they were babies, or had no families of their own.
Such was the case with Diego. Bruno found the ugly thing in one of the fields, badly dehydrated and injured. Julieta may have wrinkled her nose at the sight of it, but her compassion won out and she healed the little guy.
While the magic worked its wonders, Antonio held Diego on his lap, gently telling him he was safe now.
Once Diego was healed and able to move around on his own, the family quickly learned that Diego was one grumpy little guy. He hated them. He royally hated all of them.
Well, no. That wasn't true. He positively adored Antonio and Bruno, religiously following them everywhere and sitting on their shoulders or on their heads.
"He's really sweet," Antonio insisted. "He's just shy."
"Poor little guy's been through a lot," Bruno said, gently stroking Diego's back. "He'll warm up to everyone."
He did not.
For whatever reason, Diego especially seemed to hate Camilo. And sure, Diego was ugly as sin with a nasty attitude, but Camilo couldn't help but be offended. He hadn't done anything to the stupid rat! No pranks, no jokes; he hadn't even called Diego ugly within earshot.
Yet as soon as he walked into the kitchen, Diego hissed.
"Aye!" Camilo flinched away, claiming a seat by Mirabel instead. "That thing has it in for me!"
"No he doesn't!" Antonio said, cuddling Diego. "He's just not a morning person."
"He hates me!" Camilo insisted, pointing accusingly at Diego. "What did I ever do to you, huh!?"
Diego chittered. Antonio nodded along with a quiet, "Uh huh. Uh huh. Okay, I'll tell him."
"Well?" Camilo demanded.
Antonio, still stroking Diego, looked at Camilo with a little pout. "I don't really get what he means, but he said 'Your vibes are rancid.'"
Tio Bruno burst out laughing, choking on his coffee. Mirabel ended up spitting her juice as she laughed.
"Excuse me!?" Camilo stood, eyes narrowed on that utter gremlin of a rat. "You wanna talk about bad vibes? Look in the mirror, pal!"
"V-vibes," Mirabel sputtered, laughing so hard she was bent over. "Vibes!"
"I mean, maybe he just saw your impression of Pezmeurto," Bruno said with a taunting grin. "That was vile enough to put me off my breakfast."

Sneak peek for “How Bright You Burn (How Brave You’ve Been)”
Next chapter will be out tonight! 💕
Tumblr media
Mirabel crept closer. “You’re okay, Isa,” she said. “Right?”
Even crazier, Isa smiled at her.
“I am,” she said. She nodded and said, seemingly to herself; “Yeah. I…I am.”
This time, when she waved her hand and made Mirabel a flower crown, it wasn’t just roses. This time it was bright yellow alstroemerias, blue hydrangeas and orange anthurium.
Isabela tapped her own head and another orange anthurium grew, replacing the rosebuds she’d removed.
It clashed with her pale pink dress. Strands of her hair were falling in her face and over her shoulders, looking windswept and tangled.
Mirabel liked it.
She told Isabela so, and her sister looked stumped. After a moment of staring at Mirabel like she wasn’t sure what to do, Isabela just grinned and asked, “Want a cactus?”
Mirabel decided that yes, she would like a cactus.
Isa even made sure Mirabel’s cactus had a blue flower. Camilo was gonna be so annoyed he missed all of this!
