No longer locked upon the land but free on the rolling waves
You and Buggy come face to face with himself from the past, and while you’re fully accepting that this is your husband as a child, Buggy doesn’t want to accept it.
Rating: PG-13ish, but just due to some swearing.
Warning: Upset kid, upset husband. Reader is way too nice, doesn’t necessarily take husband’s feelings into account as well.
A/N: A combined request. I did a few versions of this story before feeling like it hit the marks I was wanting to hit. Also, I’m just trying to vibe off what I’ve seen of Kid Buggy. I’m no expert. I’d protect that kid with my life. He’s so adorable. I also like the trope of “Meeting your self from another time” and “gets turned back into kid-self”. This is the former, and I know shit about time travel but I just kind of made something up.
This is the last chapter with the epilogue at the end. This has been a lot of fun to write and I've enjoyed it so much, thank you all for reading it and replying! I've loved responding to you all. So thank you thank you thank you. I liked how this chapter wrapped things up. Moments go a little quick but that was the intention. Nothing was to really be drawn out.
Title comes from “Sailing Song” by S.J. Tucker.

Chapter Six
Your husband decided to stay back on the ship while you and the kid went into the town. His excuse was he needed to get the crew ready or something, but you didn’t push him for a real reason. Part of you wanted him with you when you went into town because you didn’t know what to expect. Would some kind of portal open up and tear the kid away from you, kicking and screaming, or would it happen in an instant, like when he first appeared? You were going to cry either way, you just wish you had some kind of idea of what to expect.
But you also didn't want Buggy coming because again, what if some portal opened up and tore your husband away from you as well as the kid? You didn't want him disappearing on you at all so you just gave him a kiss on the cheek before heading off the ship with the kid.
“I think that the table was over here.” Kid Buggy said as he held your hand, leading you down a street. You knew what he was looking for but you let him take charge, wondering if he knew here to look. The table wouldn’t be there anymore, it hadn’t been since you turned 14 and left to start your apprenticeship and your parents moved elsewhere. They still made jewelry and sold it, but in another town on another island.
It was hard not to tell him everything, because even though Buggy said he doesn’t remember anything about this whole ordeal, what if this was different? What if something was triggered that changed the course of the kid’s life from this moment forward? You didn’t want to take the risk. You loved your life, your husband, and the life you two had together. Nothing could change that, so you never told Kid Buggy that he stole from your parents, or that he would become a Devil Fruit user at a young age (he never questioned Buggy’s head popping off his body during their first meeting), nor did Buggy ever tell him what happened between him and Shanks.
“You think so?” You replied as you followed after, smiling down at him as he turned his head in every direction, a look of concentration on his cute face as he tried to remember where to go. He stopped a few times, looking around, wondering where to turn. You were patient, giving his hand a squeeze whenever he’d start walking again.
“I’d bring you back with me if I could, y’know.” Buggy said as he looked up at you. “Introduce you to everyone. They’d think you were great.” He then looked away, searching for the table of merchandise that no longer existed. “But I know you wouldn’t wanna come with…”
“If I could come back to my husband in the end, I would.” You assured him with a smile. “But you’ve seen how you are as an adult, you can’t survive ten minutes without me, so I have to stay back with him.” Truthfully, if you met the crew, you would have brought hell down upon them. While your husband would speak highly of being an apprentice under Gold Roger, you had other opinions, ones that you wouldn’t share because you didn’t want to upset Buggy. There was always something under the surface whenever you listened to your husband speak about it. The self-doubt, fear of failure, everything, and one time when he was drunk he cried about Shanks, often feeling lesser than his friend, but then the next morning as he sobered up he would curse the same man.
“Yea?” He grinned. “Really? I think you’d like it. You could even meet Shanks, since you said you never got to meet him.”
“Maybe something will happen and I can someday, Buggy.” You steered him out of the main walkway, letting people pass as you knelt down in front of him. “I want you to know that I have loved spending time with you, sweetie. It’s been one of the best things ever.”
He blushed at that, avoiding your gaze as he looked away. “Are you saying goodbye to me?”
“No! Not yet, just…” You hesitated. He wasn’t used to this kind of attention, the praise, compliments, affection even. You wanted to give him as much as you gave your husband because you saw the way he would brighten up when you’d tell Adult Buggy how handsome he looked in his coat while you’d straighten his cravat, or when you’d let him know how much you loved him every night before going to bed. You meant every word you spoke to Buggy as an adult, and you wanted him to know the same as a kid. “I want you to know you’re a wonderful kid, Buggy.”
He was still red in the face but he allowed you to wrap your arms around him and pull him into a hug. He mumbled something in response and you didn’t quite hear it, because he suddenly pulled away from you, his eyes lighting up in excitement.
“I can hear Shanks!” He said as he looked over your shoulder. “I think he’s calling for me!”
You turned in the same direction but didn’t see or hear anything. What was going on? He grinned at you before he suddenly took off running in the direction he was looking. You got to your feet and started after him, but he was fast. He turned down an alleyway, calling for Shanks, and when you finally caught up to him your heart dropped. It was a dead end and he was nowhere in sight.
So this is how it ended then.
~
You came back to the ship an hour later and went right to your room, ignoring the looks of the crew and even your husband. He noticed you were alone, so he told the first mate to keep an eye on things while he went after you. Buggy wasn't sure how upset you would be, because even after ten years of marriage he wasn't sure how to handle it.
He found you sitting on the bed, leaning back against the headboard with something in your hand. Buggy hung his coat and hat up before taking his boots off and climbing into bed next to you. You immediately leaned into him, curling up against his side as he put his arm around you.
“I'm going to miss seeing you as a kid.” You sniffled, looking at the once stolen pendant in your hand. “You were so sweet, Buggy.”
“I was a little shit.” He rolled his eyes, clearly having a different opinion on the whole matter. You looked up at him with watery eyes and he sighed. “Fine, yes, I was a sweet little shit.”
“I just wanted you to feel safe and loved, Buggy.” You wiped at the tears as they rolled down your cheeks. “And you're not going to remember any of it.  What was the point of any of this?”
He just shrugged, pulling you closer as he pressed a kiss to the top of your head. He wasn't really good at using words to comfort you. He was used to actions like giving you gifts or finding ways to make you laugh instead. He hated seeing you so upset, but he knew better than to tell you to suck it up and move on. The one time he said that to you ended up with you giving him the cold shoulder for a week and he couldn't deal with that again.
“I just wanted you to be okay, Buggy.” You mumbled as you tucked the pendant away in your pocket. “I hate you went through so much before we met.” You rubbed your eyes. “And…and you're not going to remember any of this.”
“Yea, well…” He hated saying sappy things, like something out of a silly romance novel. He sighed and gritted his teeth. “If I didn't become an apprentice and continue being a pirate, we wouldn't have met.” You glanced up at him and his cheeks started to turn red. “The kid will be fine, because he will meet some way too nice tailor, fall madly in love with her and be an idiot about it, and she will show him all the love he will ever need.” He huffed and pulled his arm away from you, crossing them over his chest as he looked away. He felt a little uncomfortable but he knew you needed to hear this. “And when they hug for the first time he'll remember a moment of feeling safe as a kid but he won't know why, and when they kiss for the first time it will make him realize how much he wants her in his life.” He took a deep breath and exhaled before scowling. “Okay? So… so the kid won't remember what you did for him but he'll have a sense of familiarity when he meets his future wife, because she treats him with kindness and never asks for anything in return, and he really doesn't deserve someone like her.”
When he was finished with his rant he looked down at you, only to be horrified when he saw new tears streaming down your cheeks. Oh shit. He didn't mean to make you cry.
“S-Sorry, I didn't mean to-” He was at a loss for words. “Why are you-”
“R-Really?” You whimpered. “You felt that way when we met?”
He turned even redder if possible, unsure if he should keep talking or not, but you were almost smiling now as the tears rolled down your cheeks so he sighed and nodded.
“Y-Yes.” He said, looking away from you once more. “I… I knew the moment you gave me a hug that you and I were meant to be, because I felt safe in your arms and… and you took good care of me even before we started our relationship.” He scratched his cheek, looking so very uncomfortable to be carrying on like this, but your crying was letting up and you were looking at him with such love in your eyes that he thought he was going to literally fall to pieces in front of you. “Fixing my coat, clothes, even my gloves. It… it was nice and you didn't have to do that because I wasn't the nicest person to you at times, y’know.”
“I fixed your gloves just to spend extra time talking to you.” You said, giggling as you wiped your eyes with the hem of your shirt. He looked at you in confusion. “I made it up that your gloves needed fixing. I just… wanted to spend time with you after fixing other things, and you didn't know what I was talking about so you let me.” You smiled brightly at him. “I lied because I liked you, Buggy.”
His jaw dropped, a look of betrayal on his face. “What?! You lied?!”
You laughed. “What? I liked seeing your hands without them, honey, because you always wore them. That was the first time I felt your hands without gloves on, you know.”
“I can’t believe you lied!” He wouldn’t drop that tiny detail. “After all this time you lied about my gloves needing to be fixed?”
You knew what he was doing, trying to distract you from being upset, and you appreciated it. It still hurt having the kid disappear so quickly out of your sight but it was a comfort to hear from your husband the little bits he could recall, even if it wasn’t exact moments of his time with you. You didn’t want him to be hurt, or go through the heartaches of growing up, but if it meant the two of you meeting and falling in love, then maybe you could accept that you couldn’t fix everything.
“I love you, Buggy.” You told him as you leaned over to kiss his cheek. He turned red and looked away again but he put his arm back around you, pulling you closer to him before he looked back at you.
“Yea, yea.” He kissed you on the forehead and sighed. “I love you too.”
~*~*~
“Buggy! Where’ve ya been?” One of the older crewmen asked. Buggy didn’t turn around, instead looking at his now empty hands. Where did the pendant go? He just snatched it off that table and he had it in his hands just moments ago, but now it was missing. Did he somehow drop it? “It’s been twenty minutes, kid! Don’t take off like that!”
He glared up at the man. “Not my fault you can’t keep up with me!”
The man just laughed and patted him on the head; the kid immediately swatted at his hand, trying to get him to stop. He didn’t take off running, he had just been with the crew and then it seemed like everything went still for a moment. He didn’t want to say anything so he kept quiet, trailing after the adult as they went to join up with the others.
“We weren’t too worried, y’know. Figured you’d turn up once you got hungry.”
Buggy just nodded, glaring at the ground as he walked along. It’s not like he disappeared or anything. He was just out of sight for a few minutes. Shanks and him did it all the time.
They were walking down the street that the vendor was on where he took the pendant from. Did they somehow get it back? He hesitated but risked taking a look as they walked by. The adults were talking to a customer, showing off pieces while a girl around Buggy’s age sat nearby, looking completely bored. When their eyes met she perked up a bit and gave him a big smile. Buggy made a face and looked away  but the adult he was with noticed the exchange and laughed.
“Flirtin’ with the local girls, Buggy?”
“Shut up!” He snapped. “Let’s get back to the ship!”
“Don’t you want to say bye to your girlfriend?” He teased as Buggy glared at him, his face red. He was about to say something else when something tugged on his sleeve. He spun around, ready to fight, but froze when he saw the girl standing there, holding a flower in her hand with a big smile on her face.
“The red flower looks like your nose.” She told him as she took his hand and placed the flower in it. “I like it.”
Buggy didn’t say anything as his hand closed around the flower. He was frozen where he stood, not sure how to respond to that, but the moment didn’t last because she turned and went back to her parents, taking her seat near the table once more. He didn’t know what to say or do next, but the adult grabbed him by the back of his shirt and pulled him along, laughing and joking about young love and other stupid shit Buggy didn’t care about. He stuck the flower in his pocket and looked back at her once more, his face still as red as his nose. She was watching him leave and gave him a smile and wave as he left.
Yea, okay, he decided she was kind of nice, but he wouldn’t see her again so there was no point in saying hi to her or asking her name.
It was just a one time meeting by chance.

Life Must Have It's Mysteries (Ch.10)
Honestly, I thought this chapter would be the last, but in order not to make it too long, I divided it into two parts. Chapter 11 will be the final, I promise :) And when I came up with the idea about the scepter, I didn’t know that there was a legend that would be mentioned in this part. Everything worked out well, hah!
English is not my native language, errors may occur. As always, feel free to share your thoughts :) Masterlist is here.
Description: Buggy saved Catherine. What will happen next? Will they find what they are looking for? Let's find out!
Warnings: Fun, fluff, arguing, adventure, inappropriate jokes, swearing (as always). Shitty shit again:)
Words: 4488

“Cotton candy, you knocked me down.”
Catherine clung to Buggy with her arms wrapped around his neck, lying on him, resting the top of her head under his chin.
“Cathie-pie…” He stroked her back.
“Shut up for a minute. I was just sitting in a cage preparing to die. I thought I'd never hug you again.” Catherine grunted with her eyes closed. “Also, let me come to my senses after the flood of your Buggy-love.” She tickled his neck with a finger.
“What? What are you talking about? It wasn't Buggy-love. It was a dramatic moment. I'm a gentleman. I thought you were about to die, so I thought I'd cheer you up.” Buggy answered nervously, giggling.
“Liar!” She inhaled heavily. “When you're nervous, you smell like nutmeg.”
“Are you seriously comparing me to a fucking nut just now? Why can't you tell me something else? Oh, Buggy, you saved me. You're such a sexy man. I want you right here.” He tried to guffaw to hide his worries.
“You're such a fool. See, you love me so much, even though you'll never admit that you saved me even from the evil gods.” Catherine raised her body and stayed sitting on him. “Okay. We need to fi~. Why are you smiling, clown?”
“You're on top of me." Buggy giggled idiotically and put his hands on her tailbone. "I have to admit, I like the position in which you are sitting now. Perfect!”
“You're disgusting, you know that?” Catherine slapped his hands. “Focus, please. We need to figure out where to go next.”
“I saw a narrow passage there. Behind that game thing.” Buggy nodded his head towards the corner and started stroking her back.
“Really? Okay! Let's check!” Catherine, put his hands away, ruffled Buggy’s hair and sat on the floor, crossing her legs in front of her. She pulled out a map and a notebook and started to review the route. Catherine felt Buggy take her hand, rested his head on her back first, then buried his face in her hair, and then placed his chin on her shoulder.
“What happened, my blue-haired love?” She looked at him out of the corner of her eye.
Buggy shifted his gaze to her.  “I just.. I almost lo~... Ah, never mind.”
Catherine ran a hand through his hair. “It's okay. I'm okay thanks to you.” She gently moved her fingertips along his cheek. “See? I'm here.” Catherine turned her head slightly and looked into his sad eyes. “Your makeup is smudging. When we go home, you'll need to touch it up.”
Buggy kept his eyes on her. “Cotton candy,” he cleared his throat, “What if.. If I.. never mind.”
Catherine put her hand on his forehead. “Someone got too nervous, right?” She laughed and ducked into her notebook. Buggy fell silent and watched her run her fingers over the sheets, muttering something to herself and stroking her pencil through the air. “See also. We were supposed to turn with you here - the north house. If I understand correctly.”
“Uh-huh.” He closed his eyes and hugged her with his other arm tighter.
“I don't know what's going through your head right now, clown, but stop thinking about it. I’m sure it's something embarrassing, right?” Catherine blushed. “Anyway, if there's a narrow passage at the north end of this room, we should go out through it, and we'll be in the north house. Shall we? In any case, we need to somehow get out of here.”
“Uh-huh.” Buggy exhaled heavily, opened his eyes and stood up, offering Catherine his hand.
“Thanks!” She arched her back and heard a crunch. “God, I'd kill for a hot bath and a nice glass of wine right now.”
Catherine put everything in her bag and pulled out a flashlight. Buggy pulled her towards the passage. She ran her flashlight around the room where they were, saw the game and the scattered sticks on the floor, and glanced at him. Catherine took a second to imagine what it was like for him to be here alone and squeezed his hand.
“Over there!” Buggy pointed with his hand. “When I was playing this damn game, I saw some kind of light, maybe we should go there?”
“Judging by the map and notes, yes. See! You did great!” Catherine stroked his head. She shined a flashlight into the passage. “It’s quite narrow, but we have to get through. You’re luckier, you can split into parts and safely fly to the other side.” She laughed.
“No way, cotton candy. I won’t leave you, otherwise you will remember this to me forever.” Buggy groaned and rolled his eyes.
Catherine exhaled heavily and climbed into the passage. She carefully examined the walls, looking for additional clues, periodically looking back at Buggy, checking if everything was okay.
“Oh, look, look!” She stopped abruptly, sharply swinging her hand back, and heard a honk. “What was it?” She looked down at her feet.
“Fuck, Catherine! Are you out of your mind?!” She heard Buggy grumbling behind her.
“What's happened?” Catherine turned to him.
“Fuck! You elbowed me in the nose! Who does this?”
“Oh my god! Are you okay?” She started examining his face. “I heard a honk. Where did the sound come from?” Catherine looked at the walls and floor. And she froze and slowly turned the flashlight on Buggy. “Is it you? Is it your nose made that sound?” She looked at him in amazement.
"Wow, that's funny, right? Haha, his nose honks. You can laught at me." Buggy made a face.
“What? What are you talking about? I never make fun of you in that way. Why didn't you tell me this?” She saw him blush with embarrassment. “Oh, my silly clown. I think it's cute. Don’t worry, okay?”
Catherine took a couple steps forward and felt a vibration under her feet. “What's that sound? Is that you too?”
“What? No! I don’t know. It’s like something is…” Buggy looked around.
“...shaking.” Catherine looked behind him and saw a crumbling wall. “You must be kidding me! The wall, Buggy! The fucking wall! What are we gonna do?”
“Damn! The main lesson I can give you is to run. Believe me, this advice works every time.” He started pushing her in the back, watching as the passage gradually became covered with sand. “Run! Run!”
Catherine threw her bag over her shoulder and ran forward, looking back at the crumbling wall and Buggy. They turned down the paths several times until they finally ran out into a poorly lit room.
“What was that?” Buggy, bent over with his hands on his knees, tried to catch his breath.
“I don't know.” Catherine pulled out a flashlight and shined it on the passageway. “Fuck, it's been fucked up!”
“Fuck it!” He raised his head to her.
“Are you o~?” Catherine took two steps toward it and felt the floor vibrate lightly again. “What was that?”
“I have no idea.” Buggy straightened up.
Sand began to fall from the walls.
“What the fuck is that?” Catherine yelled in panic. “Are we walking into some kind of Egyptian trap?”
“Are you asking me?” Buggy tried to shout over the noise of the sand, which began to fall off the walls and cover the floor at an increasing rate. “What are we gonna do? Is there some kind of riddle or phrase to stop all this fucking shit?”
“Am I a wizard to you? Sorry, I don't have any phrases “please, don’t kill us fucking sand” for stopping this shit. Fuck! The sand is almost ankle-deep. The room is filling up too quickly. A little more and the sand would be up to our knees.” Catherine shined her flashlight on everything, trying to find a way out. “We have to g~... Oh god, what else is it?”
A cracking sound began to erupt beneath Catherine's feet. The floor started vibrating and splitting, failing beneath the sand piece by piece. They tried to cling to the pieces of the floor that had not fallen, but their hands slipped and they both flew down. As soon as the sand has settled a little, Catherine opened her eyes, lying belly down on pieces of the floor with a dash of sand.
“Thank God, the fucking sand seems to have cushioned the fall. Fuck! My ears popped.” She coughed, squinting, brushing dust off her face and hair. “Are you alive?” She waved her head in different directions and slapped her ears a couple of times.
There was silence in response.
“Buggy?” Catherine sat up on her knees and looked around. “Buggy?!” She shook her head again and looked ahead. “Water? Where in the pyramid did the water come from?”
She looked up from where the floor had fallen and then looked down. The trail of the collapsed floor led to a body of water. Fear gripped her heart.
“Fuck!” Catherine threw off her bag and sneakers and ran forward. She looked closely into the water and saw a drowning Buggy.
“Fucking devil fruit!” She jumped into the water and started swimming with all her might towards Buggy, who was going deeper and deeper to the bottom. Catherine felt short of breath and had to dive back out. “Fuck! Focus, Catherine!” She took in more air and dove into the water again. She squinted in the water, trying to find him. The air began to run out again. She had to surface.
“Where is he?” Catherine turned her head around and put her hand under the water. “The current. The current is weak, but it goes to the... To the right.”
Catherine held her breath once more and dived and swam a little to the right. She saw Buggy and with all her might she buried herself up to his body. The air started to run out, but Catherine made two more wide paddles and managed to grab him by the collar of his sweatshirt and pull him to her. She paddled with one hand and helped herself with her legs with the last of her strength, and finally managed to pull herself out of the water. Catherine took a deep breath, lay on her back, put Buggy on her chest and swam to shore. She pulled him to shore, rolled him over onto his side, and he coughed immediately.
“You're alive! Thank God!” She jabbed at his shoulder.
“Was it cool?” Buggy asked in a hoarse voice, clearing his throat and rolling over onto his back.
“What?” Catherine looked up at him with wet eyes, not realizing whether it was tears or water dripping from her hair.
“Did I sink cool?” He tried to laugh and coughed once more.
“Idiot!!” Catherine flopped onto her back next to Buggy, bending her legs, and took his hand. “Are you okay?”
“Yes. Thank you. You saved me, my Cathie-pie. You?” Buggy glanced at her.
“I'm okay. 1:1, huh?” She smiled and squeezed his hand. “I thought this adventure would be easier. Sometimes it feels like we're in some stupid author's book. Oh, let's tear down the walls and let it all fall apart. Oh, let's let the floor fall under them. Couldn't come up with any more clichés, huh?” Catherine shouted loudly and coughed.
“Where are we?” He looked at the ceiling, then at her.
“I don't know.” Catherine sat down on her knees and looked around. “I think it's some kind of... Why are you smiling, clown?”
“Sorry, but you're just all wet and your clothes… your body...” Buggy giggled idiotically.
“Oh my god! You're disgusting!” She rolled her eyes. “Where do you get the strength to think like that? You were practically dead!”
“But I'm not dead!” Buggy sat down on his buttocks and wrung his ponytail from the water.
Catherine looked up at him, sitting there with wet clothes and water running down his face. She exhaled and narrowed her eyes. “I hate you!”
“Geeez! What did I do?!” He looked at her with a blank look.
“Oh, you know yourself.” She muttered. “Where does the water come from here? There are opinions that rivers used to run near the pyramids, but a lot of time has passed since then. We're in some unknown part, apparently.” Catherine got to her feet and looked around. “I have no idea where we are. We're definitely not where the map was pointing. W-Wait! What's in there?” She narrowed her eyes, jumped up from her seat and ran forward.
“Fuck, Catherine!” Buggy yelled, standing up abruptly and sent his hand after her that tried to grab her by the scruff of the neck.
A hand yanked her and Catherine fell to the ground. “What the fuck, Buggy! Don't do that again!”
Buggy came closer to her, reattaching his hand. “First of all, Catherine Mitchell, I've told you repeatedly not to run headlong into the middle of nowhere. Why did you do this again? Second, you forgot something.” He held out her bag and sneakers.
“Go to hell! See? There's a passageway over there!” She pointed her finger at the wall, putting on her shoes. “I'm not sure, but I think we should follow that way. There's not much of an option, either.”
“Well, let's go check it out.” He said dryly, giving her a hand and helping her up.
“Thanks!” Catherine stood on her tiptoes and took a quick look at his face, head, and shoulders.
“What?” He replied gruffly, glancing at her with a look of incomprehension.
“Nothing. Just wanted to see if you were okay. Why are you so mad?” She slowly removed her hands from his shoulders.
“I'm not mad.” Buggy took the flashlight from her bag and mumbled. “It's good that the spare one didn't break.”
“Yes, you are mad. You call me by my last name on two occasions. When we in our bed-- You know. And you're too-- You know. When you're really-- You know.” Catherine blushed. “And when you're really, really mad at me. And since the first option is out, you're angry.” Catherine crossed her arms.
“You did.. You.. Fuck it. I should have left you in that damn cage.” Buggy yelled and walked towards the narrow.
“What? Fucking clown, wait! What's wrong again?” Catherine barked, ran after him and grabbed his hand.
“Hey, don't yell at me!”
“You're the one who's yelling. Are you mad that I forgot my fucking sneakers? Lord, I would buy new ones later. I’m sorry, okay?” She lightly pushed him on the chest with her palms.
Buggy looked at Catherine’s round eyes and suddenly laughed. He put his arm around her shoulders and held her close to him for a second. “Sneakers. Forget it. Just be careful, okay?”
“I didn’t understand the reason for your anger, but okay.” Catherine mumbled into his chest. “By the way, you're so hot when you're angry.” She watched as he broke into a satisfied smile. “Oh, god. I knew you'd be attracted to this, pervert!” She narrowed her eyes. “Well, let's go?”
“Let's go, my little shit.”
They reached the passage and turned on their flashlights. Catherine shined the light down the passage and looked around the walls. “Granite blocks? Granite and limestone. I've never seen anything like that. But it looks solid, I hope nothing collapses. I wouldn't want to end up buried here.”
They walked slowly along the narrow passage, Catherine carefully examined the walls with drawings. They went out into a large room, which was poorly illuminated by rays of light. Various birds and hieroglyphs were painted on the walls, the ceiling was decorated with stars. In the center of the hall stood a huge black granite sarcophagus, near which stood two statues of two jackals with large ears.
“Fuck me! Cotton candy, tell me we found something interesting.” Buggy examined the walls and shined his flashlight on Catherine. She stood there with her eyes wide open and her jaw dropped, barely holding back a smile. “Judging by the look on your face, I'm right. So where are we?”
“I have no idea, but this is super cool!” She squealed quietly, clenched her hands into fists, and rushed towards the sarcophagus. Catherine shone on every inch of the walls.
“Cathie-pie, there’s something painted on the walls here. Again, hieroglyphs and your favorite men with fucking bird heads.” Buggy stood against the wall and squinted at the drawings.
“Where? Where?” Catherine jumped up, ran to the wall and, pushing Buggy aside, began to look at the drawings. “How strange! These drawings contain year by year records of the height of the annual flood, details of festivals held that year, and other important annual events such as wars and constructions.”
“Hey! And here are some other people drawn, and some kind of flat fish with a spear.” Buggy squatted and pointed at the drawing with a flashlight.
“Where? Where?” Catherine happily ran up to Buggy and climbed onto his back, poking her head over his shoulder. “It's not a flatfish with a spear, idiot. It's a catfish with a spear.”
“Sorry, I somehow skipped fish science class.” He chuckled.
“Quiet!” She covered his mouth with her hand and began to mumble something, periodically kicking her legs. “Can't be!” She jumped off his back and ran to the sarcophagus. “You must be joking! Quickly, come here. Shine a light on this sarcophagus!”
Buggy approached Catherine and began to shine a flashlight on the sarcophagus while she was running around.
“Oh my God! Come here!” She called him with her hand. She stood bent over the sarcophagus and moved her hand over the drawing. He walked up to her and stared at the drawing. “Look! Do you see this drawing? A man in a crown.”
“Yeah.” Buggy shrugged. "Is this some famous dead dude again?"
“My blue-haired love, this is Narmer.” Catherine looked at him, breaking into a smile.
“I have no idea who is that, but you're smiling so much that it's clearly someone cool, right?” He pointed the flashlight at the sarcophagus, and at her satisfied face.
“He is considered the first pharaoh of Egypt, but his body was never found. Oh my God! Oh my God!” She grabbed her head. “Do you see these drawings? This's his palette. It was partially found and is now kept in one of the museums. But the second half was never found. This palette depicts the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt into the “Kingdom of the Two Lands” under the divine king. This is thing was used in the ritual of mixing and applying the King's eye makeup. Like yours. And it was arranged in three easily read registers on the back and four on the front. See? Two images of Hathor, benevolently looking down on the scene, showing the status of Narmer as an equal, his central placement in this image, his size relative to other figures in this image, his mace, his crown, the servant behind him holding his sandals, Horus, the hawk god, presenting Narmer with a representation of Lower Egypt.”
Buggy looked at her, blinking. “Cotton candy, you say a lot of strange words. What does this even mean?”
“I think we're where we need to be. Wait!” She stared at the ceiling, squinting and took out the scepter. “Look! Do you see? The outline of the scepter matches the pattern on the ceiling.”
“How do you do this, woman? You know, you definitely should have gotten out of your library more often.”
“Fuck you! I just loved hanging out in the library a lot while you were having fun in the bars.” She stroked his back. “We need to look for the same features on the sarcophagus. Come on, help me! I can't cope without you!”
They began to study the sarcophagus from both sides, examining every millimeter. Buggy leaned over the lid and squinted.
“Cathie-pie, there's something here.” He looked at the ceiling and the lid of the sarcophagus. “Is this what we're looking for?”
“Where? Where?” Catherine ran up to him, looked at the ceiling carefully, and then again at the lid. “Yes! Do you see? You’re smart!! I always knew it.” She smiled, noticing how he blushed. She ran the flashlight over the lid. “Look! Here is a path of stars drawn somewhere towards the wall of the sarcophagus.”
They both ran their lanterns along the path and sat down on their knees.
“See?! There are stars in the form of the Ursa Major and small holes.” Catherine leaned the scepter against the drawings. “The thickness doesn't fit.” She held the scepter in her hands.
“Let me see.” Buggy took the scepter in his hands and began to turn it in different directions, examining it carefully. He turned it part of the scepter, heard a click and a blue tip protruded from the end of it. “What kind of crap is this?” He asked loudly, his eyes widened.
“What did you do?!” Catherine looked at him with round eyes.
“How do I know? I turned something, and it clicked, and this fucking blue thing came out.” Buggy shrugged.
Catherine whispered. “The scepter belonged to the one who could cut mountains... Oh, God! Oh, God!” She grabbed her heart and fell on her buttocks. “Can’t be!”
“Catherine! What's wrong?” Buggy grabbed her hand and looked into her eyes with worry. “Are you okay?”
She silently looked at him and blinked her eyes.
“My little pie, say something!” He shook her shoulder.
“It's not just a fucking scepter. It's a spear. The Spear of Amset.” Catherine carefully took the scepter from his hands. “Don’t take me for crazy, okay? Amset was considered one of the most forgotten gods. The Spear of Heaven was one of the items of the first pharaohs, given by the lord of the stars Amset. It was believed that the spear could only be given out by the council of priests in the temple, but no one knew where this temple was located. And Narmer made a deal with Amset to hide his untold wealth underground.”
“Apparently, something went wrong in their deal and this god Am.. whatever his name is.. killed this.. Nar.. whatever his name is.”
Catherine laughed. “No, actually, Narmer was just trampled by hippos.” She looked at the tip of the spear. “Look! Its thickness fits these holes. Remember what you did last time? Folded the constellations. Try to do the same now, only poking into these holes in the order in which the stars appear.”
Buggy took the spear from her hands. “But I warn you, it’s quite possible that I won’t be able to handle it.”
Catherine knelt down next to him and placed her hand on his back, slowly beginning to stroke him. Buggy reddened again and began poking the tip of his spear into the holes in the right order. They heard a loud bang and looked around.
“This is the lid of the sarcophagus! Open it! Open it!” Сatherine happily jumped on the spot.
Buggy began to push the lid back with force. “Damn. Heavy!” He paused for a few seconds to catch his breath. Sweat and water dripped from his bandana, face, and hands. “Ok. I’m ready.” He pushed the lid again. “A little more. A little more. There!”
He pulled back the lid of the sarcophagus and Catherine quickly looked into it. “There is no body! How is this possible? There are some fucking rags here!” She lay down on the edge, her body hanging inside the sarcophagus, while her legs dangled above. “Look! There's some kind of wooden box there! Or something like that. Get it, please!”
Buggy separated his hand, sent it for the box and brought it back. “Do you think this is what we are looking for?” He looked at her and smiled slightly.
“Oh, my blue-haired love, I’m more than sure! And if we find it, I promise you a hot night tonight!” She happily jumped around him, rubbing her hands. “Open up! Open up!”
“Alright! Make us rich, fucking pharaoh!” Buggy opened the lid and his smile immediately disappeared from his face. “It's empty here!”
“What?” Catherine stopped abruptly. “How? Why?”
“Empty.” He turned the box towards her. “See? Apparently, someone got ahead of us.”
“Can't be!” Catherine jumped into the sarcophagus and began rummaging around.
“Cathie-pie! What are you doing? Get out!”
“No! But how? Why? No! I was sure…” She threw rags in different directions.
“Maybe we’re not in the right place? Don't forget, we fell from another level.” Buggy leaned his elbows on the sarcophagus.
“If we weren't in the right place, the spear wouldn't have worked. I need to look at this fucking scepter. Wh.. Where is it?” She fell over the wall of the sarcophagus. “Are you kidding me? It’s gone! Did you take it? Did it crumble or what?”
“Fuck it!” Buggy waved his hand and helped Catherine out.
“Nothing! That's all I found. It's some stupid thing with letters.” Catherine twirled a small box in her hands.
“Forget it, little pie.” He walked to the wall and sat down on the floor.
“But it shouldn’t be like this!” She stomped her foot. “We couldn’t find anything the first time. So what? Nothing again?”
“Welcome to my world, cotton candy!” Buggy showed two thumbs up. “Just accept the fact that you're in a relationship with the biggest pathetic loser in the world and apparently my bad luck karma has rubbed off on you. Sorry.” He laughed. “Fuck! To come this way so far and for what? For the sake of some fucking empty box and rags in the sargophagus!” He leaned his head on the wall and closed his eyes.
Catherine looked at the sadly sitting Buggy, who was clearly counting on a different outcome, walked up to him and plopped down on his lap. She wrapped one arm around his neck and stroked his head with the other. “You're not a loser. Stop saying such terrible things about yourself.”
Buggy laid his head on her shoulder and wrapped his hand around her waist. Catherine immediately kissed him on the top of his head.
“Well, we had fun, didn't we? I liked our adventure more than the first. Just you and me. I wouldn't change anything about our trip.” She was twirling a small metal container with rings in her hands and started stroking his head. “Okay, let’s think about how we can get out of here. And I wonder, can this thing b~” She looked closely at the wall behind Buggy, then looked at the box. “Behind your back…” She gently patted him on the head. “Behind your back, Buggy!”
“What?” He opened his eyes and glanced at the wall.
“Pictures on the slabs behind you! These are riddles!” She pointed at the wall and then looked at the box in her hands. "Fuck! It's not a box. It's a cryptex.”

Suffering Fools
Summary: The new Doctor in Impel Down gives her patient a hand.

A/N: So this wasn't initially going to be smut, but it happened. It's not my best, but I hope y'all enjoy it. I said I would post it here, and I ain't a liar lol. So here it is. Stupid sexy clown.
Syre stuck out like a sore thumb in Impel Down. It took a few days for her to find the right words to describe how she felt, but when she did, it was like a slap to the face. Soft. Amid the torture, harsh stone walls, monsters, and even more monstrous guards, she felt soft. She supposed that was a good quality for a doctor to have, but it didn’t stop her from feeling out of place. When she’d joined the Marines, the goal had been to travel and help her comrades after battle. Not be stuck in a hellish prison. She had her theories as to how she’d gotten these orders, but the fight wasn’t worth the effort.
She eased back in her chair and blew out a breath. Paperwork all morning, and the stack mocked her with more into the afternoon. It was probably wrong for a doctor to wish for something to whisk her away from her desk. Only paperwork meant no one had been hurt enough to come see her. That was something else that rubbed her the wrong way. Tending to the guards that were hurt was one thing. Seeing the prisoners and mending their injuries for the purpose of giving them more suffering felt cruel even as a punishment.
The door to the infirmary swung open with unnecessary force, causing Syre to scramble to her feet. A single guard had kicked in the door and brought a prisoner into the infirmary slung over his shoulder. Syre watched as the guard, a hulking man of little rank, carelessly dropped the blue haired prisoner on the examination table. She moved closer cautiously, “What has happened?”
The guard began to strap the prisoner to the table. Syre had a variety of words she wished to impart about his roughness. All of them culminated in her raising hand with a singular finger outstretched to point out his mistakes, but she thought better of it. She got the feeling that trying to explain the possible repercussions of manhandling this inmate like a sack of potatoes that owed him money, was going to have the same effect as doing likewise with the lamp on her desk.
“Don’t know. Best guess? He got lippy with some of the men, and they took offense.” The guard stood back and admired his work, arms crossed with pride.
Syre pushed in close to the prisoner. Pulling out a pen light and gingerly lifting his eyelids. The pupils were responsive, that was good. “And you let this happen?”
“Why does it matter? He’s a pirate. A good pop in the mouth was good for him.” The guard replied, scratching the back of his neck.
She held back the string of insults she had been building and blew out an irritated sigh. At a cursory glance, the damage wasn’t too bad. But definitely more than a pop in the mouth. A few of the cuts needed to be cleaned, and his face was difficult to examine with the paint. Who was giving him paint? As she cataloged his injuries, he began to stir. Syre couldn’t help the smile she gave him. It had become a habit in her training as a physician. It was a little silly in this place, she thought, but her bedside manner wasn’t going to just walk out the door because she worked in a prison.
Buggy woke with a throbbing headache. There was something cold against his back and a tightness across his chest and encircling his wrists and ankles. The pain and discomfort were pushed from the forefront of his mind when he saw the woman standing over him. He’d heard from other men that Impel Down had gotten a new doctor, and now he understood the comments that she looked like she tasted sweet. Her hair was a lovely shade of pastel pink. It reminded him of cotton candy, and the chin length curls only added to that image. Their eyes met, and a smile touched her lips freely. Her eyes were brown and radiated a warmth that he wasn’t typically accustomed to.
“Good morning,” She said. Her accent was like poetry, “I am Doctor Syre Bon-”
“He doesn’t need to know your name. Just fix him up and call for us when he’s done,” the guard interrupted. Buggy eyed the man despite the strap across his forehead.
Syre pressed her lips in a tight line. Her eyes narrowed on the guard, but she stopped that building cacophony of disdain from getting past her lips. “Very well,” she said curtly.
She began to ready a tray of instruments, mostly for cleaning wounds, and set to work sterilizing them when she realized the guard hadn’t departed. Syre stopped working, and her eyes flicked up to the man standing there.
“Can I help you?” She asked.
“Yeah, I was wondering,” His voice stammered slightly which was an odd juxtaposition to the way he leaned on the table, “when you’re done for the day, did you want to join me and some of the others for drinks? It’s just a few-”
“No, thank you.” Her response was blunt, and her eyes, surprisingly cold, went back to her work.
“It’s just a few of us-”
Syre interrupted with a clipped tone, “I gave you my answer. I will call for assistance when I am finished with this prisoner. Before you leave my infirmary, could you tell me his number? I need to document this incident.”
Buggy’s cheeks inflated with the laugh about to burst out of him like a balloon. The guard raised his hand to strike him for his insolence, and Buggy swallowed the laugh. Syre cleared her throat sharply, “You will not do harm to my patient. The number, then you will leave.”
The man looked from Buggy to Syre, weighing his options and considering the temptation to hit the bound clown. He lowered his hand and said, “Prisoner E-8200.”
“Thank you.” She replied, still short and frigid.
The guard nodded and left the infirmary. When the door closed, Buggy blew a raspberry in his direction, then struggled against the strap to face her. He caught her just in time to see the momentous eye roll she’d been holding back. She rose from her chair beside the examination table to cross to the desk. Buggy took the opportunity to watch the way her coat swished with the sway of her hips. She was petite but no less beautiful, and watching her walk was a highlight of today he hadn't expected. He stopped staring as she thumbed through the files and found his. The entire time, she was muttering something under her breath. He couldn’t quite hear the words, but the tone of them was thoroughly disgruntled.
“Ah! Here we are,” She said, “Prisoner E-8200… Oh, that is such a mouthful…”
He heard her going through the pages of his file as she walked back at a slower pace.
“You could call me by my name,” He suggested with an impish grin and waggle of his eyebrows. He wanted to hear her say his name.
“And what is your name?” She asked, plunking back down into the chair. They both knew it was right there in the file, but she was choosing to treat him like a person.
“You can call me Buggy, Dollface,” he replied with a wink, “Buggy the Clown.”
“Buggy, Buggy the Clown,” she repeated, as if tasting his name on her tongue. She smiled down at him, “As long as you do not tattle on me.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Buggy purred with a smirk bordering on wicked.
Her face had softened noticeably with the departure of the brute that brought him in. She had gone quiet and was cleaning the instruments again. As she cleaned, Syre took stock of him. He was tall, but that was by far the least interesting thing about him. His hair was a gorgeous blue, and despite it being a bit of a mess, she thought it was very pretty. It just needed to be brushed and pulled up to help it from getting tangled. He had painted on a big red smile and two bones crossed on his forehead, reaching just to the corners of his eyes. These were accompanied by red marks down the center of his blue eyes. Again, who was giving him paint for these? This was still not mentioning the most apparent trait of his. At first, she had thought the guards or his fellow inmates had managed to glue a big red ball on his nose, and she was pondering how best to extract it without causing him pain. However, after a longer survey of his face, she came to realize it was his true nose. It would be comical if she didn’t find it so deeply charming. It fit him perfectly.
“Does that happen often?” Buggy asked, breaking the comfortable silence.
“Hm?” She asked, his question dragging her out of her musings about his appearance. “Which part?”
“The coming on to you?” He replied, picking which one to inquire about first.
She gave a lazy shake of her head that set the curls bouncing. The gesture wasn’t a no but more to suggest she was outwardly combing her recent memories. It was accompanied by a strangled sound that led into her saying, “Enough for it to be irritating…”
He nodded in understanding.
“The ones that just use words are not the worst. It’s the few that think smacking me on the behind will instantly fill me with desire that truly anger me. What are they thinking?” She made a gesture like she was swinging to spank someone on the ass and gasped a little, “Oh yes, please, take me I’m yours.”
She rolled her eyes again and muttered something else under her breath.
“Maybe they’re just trying to make it a win-win situation. You might say yes, you’re more likely to say no, they got to spank you either way.” He teased.
She smirked, but he didn’t get the laugh he’d been aiming for. With the tools clean, she leaned forward and took a deep breath. Beginning to clean the most egregious of the lacerations, “Poor thing…”
“You should see the other guy.”
“The other guy is not in my infirmary,” Syre said tartly, indicating to the other examination tables in the room. Buggy’s smug smile drooped like a birthday cake left in the rain. Her eyes were smiling, and it slipped to her lips with a giggle when she met his eyes. He watched as she fought the bubbling of laughter like the fizz of champagne. Attempting to quell the laughter, she took a slow, giggle laced breath to calm herself. She thought it was probably against protocol to joke with inmates, but the joy never left her beautiful eyes.
“Don’t look so glum, Mon Cher, you’ll make a full recovery.”
“Yippee.” Buggy replied unamused.
“Just try to play nice with the other boys.” She said, wiping up the blood. She chewed on her lip, and Buggy had the thought that he’d like to be that lip. “Though… I think this one is going to need stitches.”
Syre leaned over him to get a better look. Being at this proximity treated him to the smell of her perfume. It was sweet but in a cozy way, like warm vanilla but more subtle. It also occurred to him that she was nearly chest to chest with him. Her body was as soft as her glance was tender. She was debating the stitches while cleaning the cut and breathed, “Probably for the best that I do. Are you alright with that?”
“You’re the doc.” He replied, attempting to get comfortable on the table. Syre hated the cold tables. She thought they should at least have a pillow. It was just her luck that she would leave home to heal people and end up helping them to suffer more.
She slid her chair across the floor to the cupboard where the needles and thread were kept.
“There will not be many. I doubt it will scar,” Syre tried to reassure him then cocked a brow playfully, “Unless you wish for it to scar. I can do them messily and make it look rather fearsome.”
“And ruin all this handsome?” He scoffed.
“Fair enough,” She shrugged and went to begin the process.
Buggy squirmed away as best as he could with the leather strap, “Whoa there, Sweets! Aren’t you gonna do anything to numb me?”
Syre sat back, “I can not. I’m under strict orders to only use numbing agents on staff. They’re kept under lock and key, and I have yet to figure out how to jimmy open the lock. I am sorry…”
Buggy inhaled a long breath and released it with a raspberry, making Syre smile just a smidge.
“I will do my best to not make it hurt.”
His face told her without words that he didn’t believe that was possible. When she leaned back over him, he didn’t squirm, indicating a tiny bit of trust. “Good, Mon Cher, stay still.”
She could tell he was nervous. No part of her faulted him for that. It was one thing to get an injury by accident and another to watch with anticipation for it to happen. She tried to set him at ease by speaking, bringing up the first thing to pop into her head.
“I was on leave back home when I got my orders to come here,” she started, “They sent me the protocols so I could prepare myself and be informed before arriving. When I read the policy regarding pain, I ranted to my mother for a good hour.”
Buggy hissed with pain, and she stopped, an apology clear in her eyes.
“Keep talking, Dollface.” He demanded, wanting this to be over but enjoying the sound of her voice. It was like listening to a song. He didn’t understand some of the words she said but her inflection was damn near affectionate.
“She asked me what I was going to do? You see, my family was not thrilled that I studied to be a doctor and wanted to join the Marines. Obviously, seeing me so unhappy with my orders, I wanted to travel, and this is not travel. She was hoping that I would quit or refuse and stay home. I knew that was her intention, so I said that I would do what she used to do when my sisters or I got hurt.”
“Which was?” Buggy managed to say through gritted teeth.
A ghost of a smile touched her lips, “I said I would kiss and make it better,” she had to stop stitching due to her own laughter, “You should’ve seen the look on her face. It took me hours to convince her it was a joke.”
“I don’t know, Doll, I think it’s the least you could do considering you’re stabbing me in the face.”
Syre stopped, taken aback by the glint in his eyes. She felt her cheeks getting hot. Why had she told that story? She fought her now, shaking hands to finish quickly.
“All done.” She announced. More for herself than for him. “I will call for the guard-”
“Please don’t. Not yet.” Syre couldn’t help the pang in her heart hearing the plea in his voice, a finger plucking the ridiculous chord of sympathy in her.
She tried in vain to tuck a pale pink curl behind her ear, “I suppose I could…” She searched her mind for something she could do that would take time when her eyes fell on his hair, “Check you for lice?”
“I don’t have lice!” He spat back, thoroughly offended. “What kind of imbecile are you!? What next? Gonna make fun of my nose, huh?!”
Syre flicked his nose. “Of course not. But I should probably check. Do you mind if I comb your hair?”
The offense left his face immediately, finally back up to speed. It had been ages since he was able to brush his hair, and pure stubbornness had kept him from just cutting it.
“Not at all.”
“Good.”
Syre disposed of the needle and rummaged through her drawers, looking for a comb. She wouldn’t say it, but she was a tad giddy to rid his hair of the tangles. It was such pretty hair. Returning to her chair, she swiveled it to the head of the table and unbuckled the strap across his forehead. She gave him a moment to roll his neck while she formed a game plan. A quick look told her he didn’t, in fact, have lice, but she wasn’t about to tell him that she looked.
One by one, she tugged the fingers of her gloves loose and set the pair on the table beside his head. With the help of lifting his head, Syre gathered up all of his hair so that it cascaded off the edge of the table. She separated a lock and combed through it as gently as she could. If it snagged, she held just above and worked out the tangle until the comb went through with little resistance. The two of them were quiet for a long time. Syre wasn’t sure when his eyes had closed, but she didn’t mind. No matter what he had done, Impel Down was no joke. She wouldn’t begrudge him this respite.
“You mentioned you have sisters?” He asked, his tone calmer than before. Thoroughly enjoying the sensation of his hair being brushed.
“Mhm, two of them. Marie and Avery. I am the eldest.”
“All of you have pretty pink hair?”
“You think my hair is pretty?” She teased lightly.
He gave her a look that even upside down made her heart hop into her throat. Her cheeks were hot again, but this time, she was less worried. A comb wasn’t exactly the same as a needle.
“Yes,” She managed to squeak out, “we all do.”
Another silence was starting to build when Syre blurted in an embarrassed little voice, “You have pretty hair too…”
“I know I do, Baby.”
“Is it your natural color?” She asked.
“Why don’t you check for yourself?”
Syre allowed the nervous giggles but didn’t say anything more. With most of the tangles out of his hair, she placed the comb next to her gloves. She sat there for a long moment, biting her lower lip. Before reason or protocol could hinder her, she sank her fingers into his hair. Buggy let out a soft moan, and Syre let herself enjoy that sound low in her belly. Her fingertips drew swirls over his scalp, leading into her nails doing the same or giving him tight scritches. She ran her fingers down the tresses, blue strands slipping through her fingers like silk. Once they reached the end, she returned to massaging his scalp only to repeat their descent. Syre had been focused solely on his hair thus far, but the sound of the straps binding the rest of him being fought caused her to look up.
Her breath caught. She hadn’t noticed the growing tightness in his striped pants nor the writhing he had begun against his binds. Now Syre was doing a poor job of pretending not to notice. She was practically staring at it.
“Oh…” She whispered, “Should I stop?”
“Don’t.”
Syre tried not to look at it, but the breathy moan from before had led into ragged breathing, and primal instinct knew its call. Her face was on fire and grew hotter with each arch of his neck. Her fingers withdrew but were halted with a desperate whimper of, “No…”
“I really should stop…” She said, the blush clear in her voice, “You’re…”
He arched his neck enough to look her in the eyes. There was that gleam again. It sent her heart racing. Hungry, pleading, and looking to her for salvation. “Touch me…” He begged.
Syre gasped, her voice bordering on shrill, “What?”
“Please,” he added, “I can’t do it myself, or I would.”
“That’s obscene and crass and completely inappropriate,” she said, looking around the room, lingering on the door. Anything but looking at those eyes.
“C’mon Sweet girl,” Buggy purred, “Help me.”
Syre blinked, “I couldn’t.”
She tried to ignore it. Taking one of the few leftover hair ties she kept for her sister's hair emergencies and pulled his hair into a hasty ponytail. Syre was about to apologize for the color when she caught sight of his erection. It was still masked by the pants, but she was so tempted.
“Is there anything else I can do to help it go away?”
“Hand, mouth, over the pants or under, I don’t care. Please, Doc.”
She swiveled the chair around so that she was at his side. Her eyes momentarily brushed over the space between his stomach and the slight lift in his pants. A dusting of blue hair led down further, but she ripped her gaze back to his face, “That’s not what I meant. Is there-”
“Please…”
They’d taken so long already. A guard could come by to check on them at any time. If one of them showed up and he was this…aroused, Syre couldn’t see a way for him not to get the shit kicked out of him. Not wanting to do more harm than good, she bit her lip and slid her hand into his pants.
Syre wasn’t inexperienced with love affairs. Over the years, she’d had a few trysts, stolen a handful kisses, and even had a fumbling in the dark a time or two. This was much much different than any of those. There was a tension here that felt raw. She was stroking the cock of a prisoner housed in Impel Down. And he was looking at her with a hunger she wasn’t sure she could handle. His eyes, his history, his cock in her hand, all of it felt so deliciously wicked. A smirk tugged at the corner of her lips.
“Oh Sweet Girl,” He moaned, arching off the table and elongating his neck into a curve. His hips pushed up into her hand. Each thrust inched the pants off, exposing his cock completely.
Hearing his tender words made the butterflies in her stomach flutter. He was so hard. She'd never felt such a thrill. "A-am I doing it right?"
It wasn’t exactly a hard task. She just felt so damn awkward.
He gave a moan mixed with a chuckle in response. She wasn't exactly sure what to say. This was new for her, but there was a part of her that was enjoying it, "Is there anything else I can do to help?"
“Kiss me.” He pleaded.
“I couldn’t…” She replied with a nervous laugh.
“But you want to. I can hear it in your voice. You’ve come this far. So why don’t you be a good girl and give me a kiss?”
Syre swallowed hard. She was already stroking him. Wasn't that supposed to be later, and a kiss came first? All of this was wrong. Why should she stop now?
"C’mon Doc…" He panted, "I kiss good."
Syre rose from her chair, sending it wheeling back. Her legs were shaking as she moved closer to his face. The chair hit one of the cupboards, causing her to look over. Seizing the opportunity, Buggy ran his tongue along her cheek. Syre squeaked and gripped his shaft harder in surprise. He rested back on the table with a dare in his eyes. She couldn't help but look at his painted lips.
"Just one kiss, Doll."
Syre bit her lip nervously, and he looked a little sad. "Let me do that for you."
Syre caved to the temptation and leaned down to brush her lips against his. Her free hand came up to caress his face, and it didn't take long for him to beg entrance into her mouth. His tongue prodded her lips, and she moaned when it slipped inside with the slightest part. His hands struggled against the straps. He wanted so badly to touch her, too. When he finally broke the kiss, he breathed, "Harder baby, grip it harder..."
"Are you going to cum for me?" The question was posed in the sweetest voice he'd ever heard. She wanted him to. Needed it just as much as he did. Her face, flushed red and lustful mixed with the desire in her eyes to kiss him again, it was too much.
He arched his back, fighting against the straps. Syre was breathless as his cock pulsed in her hand. She didn't mind the hot seed creeping over her hand. She was enthralled. He was inches from her face, panting in ecstasy and holding her gaze. His eyes were hooded with pleasure. She'd never felt more powerful.
"Fuck…" He moaned, his body trembling. Lips brushing against hers just from proximity. As she looked down over his body, he nibbled her ear. Groaning with the aftershocks of his climax.
"F-feel better?" She asked after he seemed to be coming down. She was tempted to give him another kiss, but that would be too much.
"Yes. Oh yes. I wish I could do the same for you." He panted.
She was getting bashful under his eye. "That's not necessary…"
"To stain those thighs red…" He mused, "and if the rest of you is as sweet as your kisses…"
He was growing hard again just thinking about it. "Oh no, you don't!" Syre released him and scuttled to the sink. She didn't need paint for her face to be as red as his lips. Hell, Buggy didn't even need to see it to know it was red. She scrubbed his seed off of her hand while trying to calm herself.
"You want to, though."
"Don't be ridiculous..." She forced a laugh.
Buggy had to give her some credit. Her voice had stayed mostly even, but her cheeks were a dead giveaway. That didn't mention her avoidance of his eyes.
"I won't tell anyone, Dollface." Buggy tempted. "You already know I kiss good, just think what else I can do."
Syre took a measured breath and covered him back up, eyes lingering just a little too long on the blue hair on his lower stomach. "For your sake, Prisoner E-8200, stay out of fights."
Before Buggy could tempt her again, there was a knock at the infirmary door. The guard from before poke his head in, "Everything okay, Doc?"
"Yes, we just finished up. You may take him," She waved dismissively but avoided eye contact with either man.
The guard unstrapped him and roughly got him to his feet. "No funny business, Clown."
Buggy turned to look at Syre and blew her a kiss. "Thanks, Doc."
The guard shoved him down, "Get moving!"
Syre was left in her infirmary, reeling from what had just happened. She busied herself, getting ready for another patient. She tossed the comb, but when she retrieved her gloves, she found one was missing. She furrowed her brows and looked up at the door with a sigh.
Walking down the halls of Impel Down, Buggy held the soft white glove hidden in his hands. A devilish smile across his face.

Circus ghosts
<<<Prev(Sinister plot)
(Moonlight's solitude) Next>>>
Pairing: Buggy x female mermaid reader
Word count: 2000
Warnings: none
Sure princesses had to be guarded but you knew your every move was being watched. Who you talked to, where you went, you finally understood Buggy’s paranoia with having every word he uttered be recorded somewhere. You shook away the thought. It felt annoying to let him linger in your mind. After all the promises he had made, his actions only proved to be otherwise.
You weren’t his most valuable treasure anymore, knowing him it was well within his character to have had found something else that was more priceless, to let his mind wander elsewhere. Another more pestering thought propped up, after the four months that had passed now, he could be filling up his nights with other women.
They would be keeping him warm at night, holding him close like you had done once. You shook away the thought. With how difficult it was to even sneak away for a few minutes, you were never going to run into him now. So it was pointless, he was in the past, a treacherous past that wouldn’t let you forget how good it felt, how free he made your life to seem.
Helge was persistent now, trying every opportunity to get you to court him, trick you into it even. That was the mercourt. Pirates lived by a code, they had an honour amongst themselves. As much as they squandered and raided, there was a line they wouldn’t cross if they had sworn their allegiance.
But here, there was no code, there was no loyalty. It was barbaric. Nothing was wrong, the morality used to govern would change based on who sat on the throne and if no one liked you, you could be eliminated out of the boredom of the aristocrats that held their positions within the court. It was all based on the whims and fansies of the one who held the most power.
As much as the people believed you to be their powerful liberator, returned from the clutches of death. You were only a decoy. Theodora Slyvester was the one that had the mercourt wrapped around her finger. No one spoke of your parents, they were well forgotten.
The citizens were made to believe they had died in a ship wreck when they tried to flee the riot, but no one knew the truth behind the games that had occured in private. It was only you who was put of on a ship by some kind soul whose loyalty was your family line, they hid you amidst the cargo and sent away before the coup had begun.
Your parents portraits still hung in the hall of legacy that you took time to often to gaze at. They were just pictures now, nothing more. Your heart didnt stir, your mind couldn't remember how they sounded. All you could see was that you had your mother’s eyes and your father’s tail pattern. She had been a chief advisor but nothing else was written about her while your father had been a warrior. Your mother's history too shrouded in mystery.
With no other brothers or sisters, you were their only child, the only one in whose hands lied the fate of this family line. The pressure that settled on your shoulders was immense, it wasn’t just a crew you had to worry about it was a future you were unsure about. Did you have the right to reject all this? Would it ruin everything the people in these portrait had built? Your escape plans were futile and your heart was beginning to settle in this new reality.
You moved away from the portraits as you closed the book you were held about the history behind Makara's legacies when it began to bore you. You knew what privilege you held but the thirst after power and duty was never in your blood, so it felt like a trap chasing after ghosts to secure a life that didn't make you happy.
With the day of falling stars soon approaching, you felt stuck. You took action and executed plans, never took the time to scheme and strategize. Your fingers itching in impulse to seek the thrills of a fight, to move to the next step or eradicate all your enemies without any sweet talk. That's why you and Buggy worked well as a team. He made the plans, you brought it to life. You stopped yourself before you could reminisce him further.
You laid your head on the table to then place your hands over it. You laid awake at night, trying your best to fit all the moving pieces together, to try and create a way for yourself, to get what you want.
What did you want?
You were being indecisive again, your curse. You were trying to work with what you had and yet you weren’t satisfied with any of the outcomes. This was new. You were always satisfied on the pirate ship, never wanted more, day life was a bliss even with its mundaneness, your mind never longed for anything else.
Again, with the ship and the thought of Buggy's eyes. You groaned and buried the thought away as you sat up again.
Now, nothing made you happy. No one could make you laugh. Every day was the same as the one before that you lost track of time, months had felt like years. You pulled out a blank paper, your attempts at writing Buggy a letter was always useless cause you didn’t know what to say. Your pen hovering over the white sheet before you put it away, again.
Not that pirates read letters anyway.
You brought the pen back over the paper when you had an idea. Maybe you could draw him a map with a big ‘X’ pointing to where you were.
But you crumpled the sheet of paper instead and threw it to the side.
Would he still come?
This stupid question had never left you alone, constantly appearing in your mind as though you knew the answer.
You heard familiar footsteps behind you and it made you feel a bit better. “Theodora is ambitious as ever.”, Hassan spoke.
“What is she up to now?”, you got up to greet him.
He took care of the archives and with all the time you spent here, you were bound to become friends with him. He was three centuries old, only one of the few alive from him legacy line of the Banyans. His lineage were the first to inhabit Makara and though he still had a few years left in him yet. He helped you learn the intricacies between the four families that controlled the island and it’s people.
The Slyvesters, the Nerroceans, the Barracudons and the Banyans. Four tribes, four lineages that established the island three hundred years ago.
“She is not going to rest till you accept her son.”, He chuckled as he placed an invitation in front of you.
“Tell me there’s a way to get out of this.”, you frowned to which he shook his head.
“It’s tradition. A Slyvester always married a Nerrocean, together they would become the ruling pair.”, he stated as though it was obvious but that was where you never understood your family’s story.
“But my mother, she wasn’t from the Slyvester family.”, you said to which he hummed as a smile flitted across his lips.
“The most notorious pair I had ever seen. The first to break tradition too.”, he raised his brows.
You pushed away the book as your scuttled closer intrigued by his stories, he always had information that were at times left undocumented.
“Tell me more.”, you said eagerly which made him laugh.
“Your mother, I believe was a sea captain once, caught in a storm when your father saved her from a near shipwreck. That was how they first met.”, Hassan looked away lost in thought. Being alive for centuries had made him a storehouse of information but struggled with recollection.
“Your father, he was the only that could…”, he grew frustrated unable to remember what it was that he had wanted to share.
“Never mind all that, now about the ball.”, Hassan switched over to the more important matter.
"Not fair, you never finish any of the stories you begin to tell me.", you cribbed but he hadn't heard it.
“You have to go.”, he knocked his fist on the table as he passed you the envelope. You smiled as you took up the invitation.
“For what? It is going to be tedious, the music will be boring and the conversation extremely dull. Instead I could just stay here.”, you turned to him to put the invitation away when he didn’t take it from you.
“Sometimes I wonder if you’re as old as me.”, he narrowed his eyes at you, his spectacles sliding down his button nose.
“Maybe I am.”, you indulged his joke before he clicked his tongue.
“I need you to come back with all the new gossip. My legs aren't what they used to be, if I was as young as you, I would have been the life of that party.”, he chuckled.
“How else am I supposed to keep up with everything that happens here?”, he looked at you making his eyes look bigger just so he could convince you and gain your favour.
You conceded. “Fine, I’ll go.”, you picked up the invite again.
It was to celebrate Helge’s birthday, you heaved a sigh, you knew what that meant for you. He was going to make it the most glamorous event all in the hopes of winning you over.
-
You wore a lot more of silk than lace it made you feel at home, you wore your family crest since you were the only Nerrocean alive, there was no one else who could represent your house. The legacy of a thousand generations rested in your hands and now with no one to compete with Helge for the seat next to your throne. It was pretty much set in the eyes of the court and the people. A story designed by fate itself, that when a Slyvester yearned for love, the only Nerrocean was found.
Silver was the colour that Helge and his mother wore often to represent the colour of their family. Behind you was a dress sent for you to wear. Black velvet with silver fabric creating a sultry bodice, you held it up against you.
It made you look like an eel, ready to sting. Silver was never your colour and with every opportunity you got, you used it to never comply to the rules Theodora wanted to enforce on you. The only fun you had these days was from behaving the exact opposite she wanted you to.
So instead you chose to wear a scarlet silk dress. Adorning yourself with gold and pearls, you felt regal when you caught sight of your refeltion.
You were to be Queen and with how the future felt like it was set in stone, it would be for the better if you accepted it for what it was. That whether you liked it or not, this was your life by birth right. To uphold the heritage of your parents, that was the least you could do.
As you fixed your earrings, you composed yourself. Maybe it was time to change tradition just like your parents had done, to step into the spotlight having shied away from it for so long, you could ascend the throne on your own.
And even if you did choose to marry, it would be for the sake of duty rather than love. Maintaining your position here was just like when you hid in plain sight during your espionages. Now all you had to do was stay longer and uses the information you collected for your own benefit.
But when you retouched the rouge on your lips, an inevitable truth set in and you paused. Your love would always and only be reserved for one pirate captain, one that wasn't yours anymore.
You were escorted to the ballroom, the doors swung open and you felt a grin creep across your face. Everyone in attendance were in silver clothing, except for you. The murmurs began to spread, a few gasped but this had been the most thrilling so far. You held your chin up as you descended the stairs towards the main floor, at the base, stood Helge with disappointment etched into his face. This night was getting better already.
But he held out his hand for you and you took it.
“I take it the gown didn’t suit your style.”, he looked at you, his frown still evident.
“You don’t know me well enough to know what I like.”, you spoke to him while you smiled to the people around you as they greeted you.
“Is that a challenge?”, he asked, when you looked at him he had a smirk on his face with a raised eyebrow.
“You can take it as you like it.”, you said knowing well that all his surprises so far had been underwhelming.
You and him approached the center seat that had been set apart for you. You sat down while Helge still stood looking towards the gathering.
“It has filled my soul with joy to see you all gathered here for my celebration. But before we get started with the dancing and the festivities. I have a surprise for my beloved future queen, Céane Nerrocen.”, Helge turned to you as you displayed a strained smile, not sure where this was going to go.
My Queen.
It was jarring to hear it from Helge's lips when you had already heard it from the one you loved.
This surprise was another one of Helge's antics, it was getting tiresome. He clapped his hands together as the lights dimmed down, rushing back to his seat next to you, he leaned closer.
“I thought you could do with some entertainment and I’m sure this would be more suitable to your liking.”, he grinned turning towards the dance floors while you rolled your eyes.
His form of entertainment was listening to an orchestra that had trained whales to be their chorus members. All his choices lacked a certain magic you craved.
But when the music began to play, you heart stopped. The golden light was replaced with a pinkish red hue that made you feel like you had entered the tunnel of love back at the circus.
And then you watched the performers enter, jugglers, flame throwers, contortionists and gymnasts. All of it, you couldn’t help but move to the edge of your seat. Their flashy and colorful costume making you feel alive. For once Helge had finally succeeded to find something you liked.
But when the performers spread away into the crowd, there he stood. With his long coat, red shirt tucked into black pants. His blue hair contained under his striped bandana, his stance so self assured and confident, his smile brilliant as ever. He looked put together, his make up applied with prisicion, not to induce fear but to dazzle. As you gazed at his face, one thing was certain there was no sign of the impact of your absence in his demeanor.
You realized you had forgotten to breathe, your heart stuck in your throat making you speechless.
Buggy’s sparkling eyes however, were only on you, taking in your every reaction as though he was lying in wait to exact his revenge.
“Hello, fishtail.”, he put his hands into his pockets as the music raged around you. Helge and the guests were too focused on the theatrics that no one spotted the absolute way your face had paled. Only Buggy did because his smile vanished, his eyes could never hide from you that it let all the pain he harbored seep through, to long for you from across the room.
Hassan was going to love this twist, you thought.

No longer locked upon the land but free on the rolling waves
You and Buggy come face to face with himself from the past, and while you're fully accepting that this is your husband as a child, Buggy doesn't want to accept it.
Rating: PG-13ish, but just due to some swearing.
Warning: Upset kid, upset husband. Reader is way too nice, doesn't necessarily take husband's feelings into account as well.
A/N: A combined request. I did a few versions of this story before feeling like it hit the marks I was wanting to hit. Also, I'm just trying to vibe off what I've seen of Kid Buggy. I'm no expert. I'd protect that kid with my life. He's so adorable. I also like the trope of "Meeting your self from another time" and "gets turned back into kid-self". This is the former, and I know shit about time travel but I just kind of made something up. Also, kelpies. Are they in One Piece? I honestly don't know but I love kelpies and needed an excuse to mention them.
Title comes from "Sailing Song" by S.J. Tucker.

Chapter One
You would have thought you drank the pub dry the night before and were still drunk with what you were seeing in front of you. Except you very much didn’t drink. You stayed back on the ship, wanting a quiet night while the rest of the crew and captain went to drink the pub dry. You were perfectly sober, no hangover in sight, but you really weren’t sure what you were staring at.
Blue hair, red nose, and a scowl you knew all too well was in front of you, clutching something in his little hands while looking you up and down. “What?!”
“I… don’t know.” Which was true, you didn’t know. The kid in front of you looked every bit like the captain who was currently sleeping back on the ship, having managed to find his way home without falling off the docks and into the water to drown(this time). He never mentioned having a kid, ever, and considering how long you knew the captain and your relationship with him, and guessing the kid’s age, you would have been having a very serious talk about infidelity and why keeping your love child a secret? Seriously? wasn’t good for relationships.
“Why are you staring at me?!” The kid snapped. “Don’t stare at me!”
“Sorry!” You smiled and knelt down in front of him. “You just look so much like someone I know, I was confused. I promise I wasn’t staring.”
The kid was on guard, tense, and looked ready to bolt, but you were curious. He just looked so much like Buggy that he had to be an offspring or some kind of relative, but the scary thing to you was how much he really looked like Buggy; he had kept some photos of his childhood onboard the Oro Jackson, and you knew what he looked like as a kid. He would show them to you on nights when he was drunk and reminiscing about the good ol’ days, singing shanties and drinking heavily. Last night was one of those nights before he passed out asleep in bed.
“What’s your name?” You finally asked. The kid didn’t seem sure about telling you, but he must have felt brave because he straightened up and smirked at you.
“I’m Buggy!” He told you, puffing his chest out proudly. “I’m an apprentice under Captain Roger, y’know, and I’m one of the best already!”
Oh.
Oh shit.
Yea, no, something weird was going on. Why was there a kid who looked like Buggy, had the same name, and was talking about Captain Roger like he was still alive? Was this an elaborate make believe game the kid was playing, or were you staring into the eyes of your husband’s childhood self?
Weirdly enough, the latter made more sense to you. You heard of this happening, stories from sailors and pirates alike, but the stories were overheard at the bar after too much alcohol was consumed. Stories of children appearing for several days on a ship, like ghosts from a distant past, only to disappear again without a trace, but sometimes it happened the other way around, with the storytellers insisting that they met themselves as a child in the past, got to relive some memories, good and bad, before coming home again.
“Yea?” You grinned. “That’s impressive, so where’s your crew? Your ship?”
The smirk vanished and he deflated a bit, looking around with the smallest bit of worry. “I don’t know. I was in front of them and there was some kind of flash of light, and… I don’t know where I am.”
“Oh, well, want me to help you look for them?” You asked, knowing all too well that his crew was nowhere around, he was not where he thought he was, but you didn’t want him getting into any trouble (which you knew was difficult because as an adult he managed to get himself into enough trouble). “If we don’t find them, you can stay with me. I’ll keep you safe.”
“I-I don’t need to be kept safe!” He snapped. “I’m tough, okay? I can take care of myself!”
You made sure not to laugh, but it was hard not too. He was so cute as a kid that saying those things with such passion and intensity just made him even more adorable. Instead, you nodded, agreeing with him as you held your hand out to him to take.
“Well, how about something to eat? I’m just finishing up a supply run for my ship.” You said. “I’m happy to make you something before we find your crew.”
He looked at your hand, looked at you, then back at your hand before hesitantly taking it. Whatever he held in his hand he put in his pocket, making you wonder what he stole before coming here. You decided not to test the waters yet, he was feisty, proud, and if you treated him like a kid then he wouldn’t be very happy. You needed to treat him like the apprentice that he is, proud, determined, and passionate. Once his hand was in yours, you gave it a gentle squeeze and smiled at him as you started walking back to the docks.
“I have fresh apples and peanut butter, if you’d like that as a snack.” You said, eyeing him with a grin as his face lit up. That was the same snack you’d promise the captain whenever you wanted something from him. It wasn’t fancy by any means, just a simple snack, but you kept the peanut butter hidden from him so he never knew where to find it. The way the kid’s face lit up told you all you needed to know that this really was Buggy as a kid.
Oh, it was about to get fun on the ship.
~
“-and then I stole it!” Buggy exclaimed with a laugh, holding up the pendant for you to see. He had just finished telling you of his latest act of piracy, stealing some necklace from a vendor on the streets. You had fed him, given him something to drink, and you couldn’t help but walk over to him once he finished talking to wipe some of the food off his face with a dish towel. He was caught off guard and made a face at you when you did that.
“Pirates with food on their face scare no one.” You chuckled as you slung the towel over your shoulder before clearing the dishes in front of him. “And then what happened, Buggy?”
He fell silent, brow furrowed as he thought of your question. What did happen? He took off running, met up with the crew, and then a flash of light and he bumped into you-
“Buggy?” You tapped on the table in front of him, bringing him out of his thoughts. “You okay, sweetie?”
“Yea, yea.” He mumbled as he looked down at the pendant in his hand. “Next thing that happened was I ran into you.”
He quite literally did. You had just stepped out of a shop when he walked right into you, and you had been in shock of seeing him that you weren't bothered that a kid was yelling at you about being in the way.
“Oh!” You nodded and went to refill his glass. “Well, you can stay with me until we find your crew, okay?”
“Are you a pirate?” He asked. “I'm on a pirate ship, but you don't seem like a pirate.”
You laughed softly at that, shaking your head. “I'm not, no. I don't do piracy, just help with the upkeep of the ship. My husband, however, is a pirate.”
“What?!”
“Yea, he-”
“It's too loud in here.” Someone grumbled from the doorway. You both turned to look; the kid’s eyes widened and you grinned. And there he was, groggy, a little hungover, and obviously needing food and coffee if he was going to start the day. You went over to him and led him to the table, helping him sit down before you started on the coffee. “Time?”
“Lunch time.” You chuckled. “That's what time it is, honey.”
He glared at you, oblivious to the guest that was staring at him with wide eyes and an open mouth. Buggy was a little hungover, having had his fair share of alcohol the night before. Normally you had the coffee ready for him before he woke up, so he was confused and unhappy that it wasn't readily available for him at that moment.
“It's too early.” He grumbled, rubbing his eyes. “What's for lunch?”
“Wake up first.” You brought him a cup and kissed the top of his head. “But I need you to look across the table before you drink that coffee, honey.”
Buggy looked up at you, eyes squinting in confusion. You took hold of his head and turned it in the direction you wanted him to look, and a few seconds later he pushed back from the table while you still held his head. Swearing, you popped it back onto his neck.
“W-What is going on?” He shrieked upon seeing the kid. Thankfully Kid Buggy remained seated, but you could see the confused look on his face. The two were staring at each other, mirror images except for the age difference. Before you could explain, your husband got up, marched over to the kid, and picked him up by the back of the shirt, carrying him out of the kitchen.
“Buggy-” You went after him, not sure what was happening.
“Hey! Put me down!” The kid shrieked, fists swinging and legs kicking.
Buggy didn't respond and before you could stop him, he tossed the kid over the side of the ship and into the water. You couldn't believe he did that. You rushed to the side to look over, relieved you saw the kid treading water. So this was definitely a young Buggy, pre-Devil Fruit, otherwise you would have thrown your husband overboard after the kid. You threw a rope down to him while your husband went back to the kitchen, rambling on about curses and bad omens.
You wanted to know what the hell that was about.
~
“I’m fine!” The kid insisted as you wrapped his hair up in a towel. His clothes were soaked and you did not have anything that would fit him, so he was currently wearing an old shirt of Buggy’s until his clothes dried. They were draped over a chair in the bedroom, the pendant he stole earlier sitting on your shared dressing table.
“I don’t need you getting sick, sweetie.” You sighed as you used another towel to make sure his face was clean. You were mindful of the nose, touching the towel to his face except there. “I’m sorry he did that.”
“Why did he do that?” He grumbled as he crossed his arms, glaring up at you.
“Because pirates are superstitious fools.” You told him. “And… seeing you scared him I guess. I don’t know, I’m going to talk to him.” Carefully, you unwrapped his hair, making note that he needed to have it brushed to keep from tangling too much. You got up and set the towels aside before grabbing your hairbrush. “Buggy, I’m going to tell you something and I don’t want you to get scared, okay?”
“I don’t get scared!” He insisted. “Not like that guy! I’m braver than him!”
“Okay, here’s the thing about my husband-”
“Don’t tell him anything!” Your husband suddenly appeared in the doorway, glaring at the two of you. “Where did you find him? Who is he?!”
You weren’t bothered by his mood, but you wanted to make sure the kid felt safe. Without a word you moved between the two, keeping Kid Buggy behind you as you crossed your arms.
“We ran into each other, Buggy.” You told him firmly. “He got separated from his crew.”
“Crew?!” Buggy shook his head. “No, get him off this ship. He could be… a kelpie or something. Get him out of here!”
“He’s not a kelpie.” You sighed.
“You don’t know that!”
Rolling your eyes you looked down at the kid. He had grabbed hold of your pant leg, gripping it tightly as he stared at the man in the doorway. This was a lot for both of them but you needed the captain to calm down. You knelt down and touched the kid’s bare toes. He took a step back and gave you a weird look.
“Human toes, no hooves.” You pointed out. “He also mentioned the Oro Jackson and being an apprentice…” You looked back at your husband. He paled and shook his head. This was too much. This was not him, this had to be some form of trickery, or a shapeshifter. “Besides, I’ve spent enough time with my husband to know when I’m with him as a child.”
Kid Buggy’s eyes widened, looking between you and Adult Buggy. Child? Was… this supposed to be him in the future? As an adult? His jaw dropped, he couldn’t believe it. You smiled at the expression on his face, pleased the kid was in awe of this.
“I turn out to be a drunk loser?!” The kid shrieked. “Why?!”
Okay, that was not what you expected. You slapped your hand to your face while your husband looked ready to throw the kid overboard once again. Kid Buggy just shook his head, not believing this. Was this an alternate reality of some kind? He wouldn’t be like this. Was this guy even a pirate? He didn’t seem like it from the little bit the kid had seen already. He was not impressed in the slightest.
“I want him gone.” Buggy snapped. “No kelpie or bad omen crap is allowed on this ship!”
He stormed off after that.

WIP Wednesday
🐊🐊🐊
Ahh, thanks for the tag @gingernut1314
I have ~ 17 WIPs (for this fandom, ~32 if you count across, SEND HELP), and no hope of finishing any of them soon, because I am cursed with being long-winded. I sit down to write some gdamn smut and before you know it we're 7k words into a telenovella drama with more plot than the average film.
I'll share a snippet of 'Poker Face', because I feel it's the most novel one out of the lot of them, and does something you haven't seen me do yet.
Oh, and if you haven't recently heard an alligator bellow, than now is a good time to do that first.
POKER FACE Sir Crocodile x Shivs (F!OC) Mature Summary: Just trying to f up each other's poker face. That's all.
🐊🐊🐊
Shivs paused halfway down the lounge on her way to her table. Crocodile was already there and playing poker. Though not at her table, no. He’d sat down at 9. A wrinkle furrowed her nose. She sauntered over, approaching from behind. He noticed. She saw it in the minimal tilt of his chin in her direction, his pale gaze flicking in and out of the corners of his eyes.
She wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders, leaning down to hug his thick neck. Her gaze dropped down his provocatively unbuttoned shirt, and she pursed her lips in appreciation. He tilted his cards away, and that made her smirk against his ear.
Not what she’d been looking at, actually.
She traced her thumbs down the long muscles along his throat, felt them flex with his swallow when she teased the rim of his ear with her tongue. Slid her hands down his muscular pects and into his dress shirt, running her fingers through his chest hair while taking in their firm shape.
“Slut,” she whispered into his ear when his nipples hardened under her fingertips.
She felt his deep, guttural growl reverberate within his chest as much as she heard its low, carrying rumble with her ears. It always struck a chord with her; a hoary longing, some sort of primal need.
“Careful.” She nipped his earlobe, right beside his earring. “You’re making me wet.”
When he did it again, she moulded herself against his back with a quiet moan, kneading the hard muscles flexing under her palms. She pinched his nipple and bit her lip at the way his breath caught.
“Are you hard for me, Wani?” she whispered softly.

“Jesus Christ, Buggy, fuck off.” Catherine ran out of the bath, holding a towel in her hands and pulling on her underwear.
“Why are you angry? It was so-o-o good, baby! I'm glad your Buggy Bear can make you moan his name out loud. Geez, it's like music to my ears!” He followed her out, smiling happily.
“Screw you!” She threw the towel at him. “Hate you! Do you even know how to control yourself?” She stood next to the bed and put on a fresh t-shirt and sweatpants.
“Of course I know, I'm not an animal. Don’t be mad and come to me.” Buggy separated his hands, grabbed Catherine with them, and pulled her towards him.
“Fuck you and your chop chop shit! Let me go!!” She tried to pry his hands off.
“Nope.” He hugged her from behind.
“What you did to me is unforgivable.” She was blushing.
“Calm down, cotton candy, no one heard us.” He kissed her temple.
“Actually, I heard you!” A male voice came from behind the wall.
“Oh, my god!” Catherine covered her face with her hands.
“Sorry! But that was hot! I was hap..” The voice wanted to continue the conversation.
“Shut up, or I'll cut your throat!” Buggy barked at the man. “Do you want me to go and kill him, my little pie?” He whispered quietly in her ear and buried his face in her hair.
“No-o! Let him live.” Catherine removed her hands from her face, placed them on his hands and started chortling.
“What's so funny?”
“God, I never thought I'd start a relationship with a clown with whom I'd have hot sex in a shower in a motel in the middle of the desert. And there will be a man lying in the next room who'd hear how you are fucking me.” She shook with laughter. “My mom and sister would be shocked. How did their little decent Catherine come to this?”
“I don’t even know if I should be offended now or not. I’ll never ever force you to do anything against your will.” She heard the sadness in his voice. He was clearly upset.
“Oh, come on, my silly clown.” Catherine turned to Buggy, wrapped her arm around his neck, and ran her other hand through his loose wet hair. “I know that. Don't worry about it, okay?”
“I’ll never hurt you.” Buggy looked at her with a frightened stare.
“I know!” Catherine stroked his chest.
“So, you're not angry at me, right? Because I…”
“Shush!” She put her finger to his lips. “Everything is fine. But do me a favor.”
“Anything you want, Cathie-pie.” Buggy took her hand and kissed it.
“Please get dressed. You've been naked since the moment you ran out of the bath after me, and our curtains are open.” She pointed with her gaze to the window behind which stood a family with a small child with their jaws dropped.
Catherine turned to the window and went to close the curtains, not knowing whether to be ashamed of the whole situation or proud.
She smiled, waved to the people outside, closed the curtains and turned to Buggy, who was sitting on the bed. “My blue-haired love, please. Underpants. I see your... well…Buggy Balls.” She flushed.
He detached his hand, grabbed Catherine's wrist and pulled her sharply towards him, sitting her on his lap. “So? We can do something more interesting while I'm like this.” Buggy hugged her, clucked his tongue and smashed his lips into hers. His kiss was a little sloppy at first, but became deeper.
Catherine instantly cupped his face and pressed herself against him. She began to moan through the kiss, feeling his hand slide up her thigh.
“No, no!” She struggled but broke the kiss. “Get away from me, fucking clown!” Catherine slapped his hands. “That’s it. I'm getting up now and gonna make us breakfast. You get dressed and come to me, okay?”
Buggy pouted and sighed heavily. “Okay.”
Catherine smiled and pecked him on his nose. “I love you.”
She got up from his lap and quickly ran to the kitchen. She made his favorite breakfast and brewed coffee.
“Are you coming? Everything's ready.” Catherine was putting the plates on the table when Buggy came to the table and plopped into a chair.
“You know, when I told you to get dressed, I didn't mean to go out in just a pair of very short underpants. You could at least wear boxers, otherwise you look like a stripper.” She poured him coffee, put it on the table and kissed him on the cheek.
“You like what you see, don't you?” He smiled slyly.
“Oh my god.” Catherine rolled her eyes. “Eat up. Your favorite fried eggs with lots of bacon and five sausages.”
Buggy happily stuck his fork into the sausage and took a big bite. “Yummy! Thank you!” He mumbled with his mouth full.
“Buggy, chew first, then talk. We've discussed this more than once.”
Catherine checked the drawers in the kitchen. “Sugar. There's no sugar in here. Oh, wait, I grabbed some at the diner. Otherwise, I will be visited by a whining Buggy who will begin suffering because he cannot drink coffee without sugar. And then I’ll definitely kill you.”
Catherine went to her bag and pulled out a couple of packets. “I think we'll eat and cont-- Why are you wearing just one sock?” She looked at him, pointing her fingers at his feet.
Buggy shrugged and bit the sausage. “I couldn't find the other one.”
“Jesus Christ! If you couldn't find the second one, take the pair that has two socks. I can't believe it, Buggy. You drove me crazy today.”
“Just today? I thought I could do this almost every night. And twice this morning. If you know what I mean.” He chuckled idiotically and started imitating her voice. “Hate you, Buggy, Oh, fuck me, Buggy. Please, Buggy, don't stop, yes, more. Geez, I love hearing that.” He took a bite of the sausage.
“Shut up! You're pissing me off!!” She hit him on the head, threw the sugar packets on the table, and went back to the bags. “Honestly, you're like a big baby sometimes. Although why sometimes. You're always like a big baby.” Catherine found a clean pair of socks in her bag and walked back to him. “How did you even live before me? I wouldn't be surprised if, before you met me, you could have been lying drunk in an alley somewhere.”
Buggy looked at her, chewing the bacon, and smiled strangely.
“Oh, my God! You were lying drunk in an alley somewhere?” She threw socks at him.
“So what?” He asked, stuffing three pieces of bacon into his mouth.
“So what? Well, I don’t know. You could have been hurt. You could have been beaten or robbed.”
“Meh..”
Catherine poured herself a cup of coffee and sat down on the chair. She sipped her coffee, watched Buggy happily spooning bacon onto a sausage, and started laughing.
“What are you laughing at?” He asked, dipping the sausage in the yolk.
“God, I went to a good university. My parents would be shocked at who their daughter fell in love with.” Catherine brought the mug up to her nose and squinted her eyes.
Buggy raised one eyebrow in the silent question.
She giggled. “Eat your breakfast, idiot!”
⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥫⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭⥭
“I'm telling you, you read the map wrong!”
“Stop grumbling, Buggy! I couldn't read it wrong. See, in the copies it was written to go on the Long Ring Long Land highway. Shit. Another stupid name.” Catherine mumbled.
They were standing in the middle of a part of the desert that was covered with few plants. The place seemed lifeless.
“I'm telling you, we're lost!”
“Jesus, will you stop whining?” She lightly punched the navigator in the car a few times. “The damn thing sometimes malfunctions from the heat.”
“We're standing in the middle of nowhere, and we don't know where to go.” Buggy picked up a bottle of water and took a small sip.
“Don’t be nervous.” Catherine put her hand on his wrist and gently ran her fingers over it. He immediately fell silent. “Hm. I think I've found my way to calm you down.” She said quietly.
“What?”
“Nothing, nothing.” She ran her hand over his ponytail. “Oh, look! There's some kind of caravan out there. Wait a second!” Catherine got out of the car and ran forward.
“Catherine, wait!” Buggy quickly looked out the side window and slapped his hands on the steering wheel. “Fuck!” And quickly went after her.
Catherine ran across the sand towards the caravan. It was a big group of people, some of whom were sitting on camels, some of them walked on the ground, carrying the bags. Almost all were wrapped in clothes of fine rose-colored silk.
“Sir, sir!” Catherine ran up to the man sitting on the first camel. “Excuse me!”
The man made a motion with his hand and the caravan stopped. He jumped off the camel and approached Catherine.
“What can I do for you?” The man asked with a low voice.
“Another one without a t-shirt.” She thought in her head.
It was a very tall, light blond-haired, very lean and muscular man with tan skin. He was dressed in a green belt, and orange pants with white stripes, his light pink feather coat and wore thin white sunglasses with red lenses. He walked with an odd, bow-legged waddle.
Catherine looked at him, blinking rapidly, and all she could say was, “Aren't you hot in your pink coat?”
“Did you stop me asking that question?” Asked the man. Catherine looked at him more closely.
“What? Oh, no! I'm sorry! Would you mind...” Catherine felt Buggy's hand on her arm.
“I've told you a million times not to do that!” He hissed through gritted teeth and glared at the man in the pink coat. Buggy instinctively pulled Catherine a little closer to him.
She pulled her hand from his arm and took two steps forward, walking over to the man in the fur coat, and showed him the notebook. “Look, we’re looking for this place.” Catherine pointed her finger somewhere on the sheet. “We were on the right road, but either we got lost or something else.”
“Why would such a beautiful girl go to those godforsaken lands?” The man asked. “I'm Doflamingo, by the way.”
“Your parents were cruel to name you that.” She shook her head. “Never mind. We're just tourists from Loguetown. My boyfriend and I came to Egypt to see the ancient beauties. So here we are, traveling back and forth, seeing all sorts of ancient stuff.”
Catherine noticed Doflamingo shift his gaze to the clown as soon as she said the word “boyfriend”.
“Weird.” He took two steps toward Catherine, stood behind her back, and put his finger in his notebook, slinging his arm over her shoulder. “You see this road right here.”
“Uh-huh.” She took a small step forward.
“So he can go that way.” He whispered in her ear, glancing at the clown. “And you, you can join my caravan.”
Catherine turned her head and looked at him questioningly. Doflamingo winked at her.
“Why do men in Egypt talk to me like that?” She threw his arm off of her. “Listen, DogDingo or whatever your name is.”
“Doflamingo, actually.”
“Whatever. I can break your back if you don’t tell me where to go.” Catherine looked at him angrily.
“Okay. This is where you need to go. Now you're going to take this road right here.” He put his elbow on her shoulder and pointed in the direction with his finger. You'll see a foxy-shaped cactus and turn right. Drive about another hour or so, and you'll get to the right place.”
Catherine slammed the notebook shut, threw Doflamingo's arm off again, and replied “thank you” sharply.
She took two steps towards Buggy, who was already getting redder than his nose from either heat or anger, took his hand and ran her fingers over his palm.
“My little bear, get me away from this strange man.” Buggy hugged her around her shoulder and led Catherine toward the car. She got in, took another easy swipe at the navigator and punched in the coordinates from her notepad.
Buggy was silent the whole way and clearly not in the mood as Catherine stroked his back.
“You know, when that man said fox-shaped cactus, I didn't think it would be a man-shaped cactus with his hair split into two spikes. There's even a sign here. Foxy City - 500 kilometers from here.” Catherine staring at the plant with interest.
“Yeah. For all I know, he organized his community and now lives somewhere in the desert.” Buggy replied rather dryly, stepping closer to her.
“Are you alright? You've been so quiet the whole way. And that's very unusual for my clown.” She ran her hand over his arm.
“What? Yeah. I'm fine.”
Catherine walked over to him, wrapped her arms around his waist, and rested her head on his chest.
“What are you doing?” He asked surprised.
“I love you and want to give you a hug. I thought you seemed upset after seeing that flamingo-man.”
“I'm not upset. Big deal that every man on our journey considers it a right to flirt with you.” Buggy placed his hands on her back.
“Hah, I knew you were jealous!” She squeezed him in her arms.
“I’m not! Better tell me where do we go from here?”
Catherine, without removing her head from his chest, simply pointed her finger in the right direction.
They walked along the very light and very faintly saturated reddish-yellow colored sand for about half an hour. Catherine kept looking at her notepad, orienting herself to the notes on the coordinates, while Buggy was silent the entire time. Catherine looked ahead, then at her notes, then ahead again.
“Oh my God! Fuck me!! It can’t be!” She started squealing, kicking her legs and threw herself at Buggy with a hug.
“Geez! What’s wrong, cotton candy?” He stopped pouting and laughed.
“Do you know what a pyramid is?!” She waved him from side to side and pointed a finger in its direction.
“I have no idea!”
Catherine flopped to the ground and grabbed her head. She looked at a smooth-sided pyramid made of limestone. She lay down on the ground and started kicking her legs again. Catherine rolled from her back to her buttocks and looked at Buggy. She smiled broadly, joyfully clenched her hands into fists and jumped up to him with a squeal again.
“Love.” Smack. “Love.” Smack. Smack. “Love, love, love you.” Smack. Smack. Smack.
“I’m certainly delighted by your reaction, but maybe you can enlighten me?” Buggy flicked her on the nose.
“Ouch!” She scratched her nose. “This’s Nefer Asut Unas. The pyramid of Unas!”
“First of all, I didn't understand the first three words. And U.. Who?”
“The pyramid of Unas, he’s the last ruler of the Fifth Dynasty. All walls in this pyramid are covered with texts. These texts are prayers, spells, and incantations to help the deceased king ascend to his place among the gods in the sky and to resurrect. They are considered to be one of the oldest religious texts in the history of Ancient Egypt.”
“Cathie-pie, I love it when you share your knowledge, but seriously, I didn’t understand half of what you said. So. This’s… This's... What?”
“This’s the ancient necropolis. Let me see my notes. Not this one, not this one. No, no, no.” Catherine ran her fingers over the sheets and felt Buggy rest his chin on her shoulder. She reached out and scratched his head with her fingers. “Here! Look. The entrance to the pyramid is located on its north side, and from there, a descending passage leads to a series of chambers and passages. We need to find this room.” She pointed her finger at the drawing. “This’s our goal on the southern side. The largest chamber is the burial chamber, where the pharaoh's sarcophagus is placed. So I suggest not to lose time. We pack our things and set out on a search.”
While Catherine was checking the flashlights, she looked at Buggy, who was changing his t-shirt. She glanced at his naked torso and blue hair on his chest.
“I hate you.”
Buggy looked at her in confusion. “This is your fourth “I hate you” in the last two hours, Cathie-pie. Could you please tell me what did I do?”
“Screw you!” She wrinkled her nose, took extra batteries and a hatchet with her, just in case.
They approached the main entrance to the complex. The whole complex was made of the main pyramid, a valley temple, a mortuary temple, a causeway, and the main pyramid which are all enclosed by a perimeter wall. They got to the entrance to the pyramid. Catherine examined the wall and stairs. Some of the casing on the lowest steps of it has remained intact.
“Now where do we go?” Asked Buggy, flopping down on the sand.
“Okay, look. Firstly, we have to be careful again. This pyramid is also on the tourist route. It's not as popular as the others, of course. But there are some people hanging around there.” Catherine glanced at a small group of tourists. She shifted her gaze to Buggy, put her hand to his face, and pulled a bottle of water out of her bag. “Here, you need some water.”
He looked at her with confusion, but took the bottle from her hands and took a sip. “Thanks.”
She put the bottle back down, ruffled his hair and pulled out the map again. “Now there will be some kind of corridor, and then we'll enter a spacious hallway that we'll follow to the tomb we need.”
He picked up the ground, took the flashlight from her, and shined it down the path. “Well, this looks good. Let’s go?”
They looked at another group of tourists at the same time and walked into the entrance. Descending an easy passage that drops about five meters, they entered a narrow horizontal tunnel that was well-illuminated, leading to the main hall.
“So beautiful!” Catherine could barely contain her squeals as they entered the central hall. “Some of the best hieroglyphs I've seen. Look! They’re very clear and some still have a bit of color.” She approached one of the walls and slightly ran her fingers over the drawings.
Buggy walked up to her, put his hand on her back and looked carefully at her satisfied face.
“What? Why are you looking at me like that?” Catherine noticed him staring at her.
“Me? I'm not looking.” He cleared his throat. “So. Where do we go next?”
“Oh, yes. We're straight ahead and to the east and then to the west.”
“Then let's go. If those people from the street follow us, it will be difficult for us to find anything.”
They walked through the long horizontal passage following a level path to the antechamber, which was guarded by three granite slab portcullises in succession. The passage ended at a room located under the center axis of the pyramid. All the walls and the ceiling were covered with hieroglyphs, drawings and various signs.
“Amazing!!” Catherine whispered, moving her flashlight along the walls. “Okay! Now to the east. Wow! Buggy! You see those letters?” She pointed with her hand at the wall.
“Yeah.”
“These are ancient texts which are said to mark the beginning of the afterlife.” Catherine didn’t notice how she took Buggy's hand. “Wow! It’s like a voyage through time, right? You know, my dad and I once dreamed of going to Egypt and seeing the pyramids. He would have loved it.” She felt Buggy stroke her arm with his fingers. “I'm sorry, a little flashback came over me.”
“Hey! Don't be sorry, my cotton candy.” Buggy hugged Catherine’s shoulders and kissed the top of her head.
“I wish he could... “ She felt how Buggy hugged her tightly. “You know. Nevermind. We’re losing our time. Let's go.” Catherine dragged Buggy to the next room.
They turned in the right direction to the east and saw a small room with 3 recesses.
“This’s the antechamber! Now to the west!”
They turned to the west and reached the Burial chamber. The ceiling of the room was painted with golden stars in a dark blue sky. The decoration in every spare inch of the part of the walls consisted of vertical columns of meticulously carved hieroglyphs painted in blue. The saw basalt sarcophagus, surrounded by white alabaster walls.
“What’s this?” Buggy asked, shining his flashlight at the ceiling, which had starfish and hieroglyphics painted on it.
“Oh! These drawings represent Unas aspiring to become a star in order to ascend to the heavens. “We are now in the land of Osiris, the first resurrected king, where Unas was expected to spend time before he could go up to the sky.”
“Where are we?” Buggy rounded his eyes. “It seems to me that we encountered this in the past... that one.. Okiris.”
“He’s Osiris, Buggy. Osiris and Anubis are the central characters of Egyptian mythology. No wonder they are everywhere. ”
She ran the flashlight along the wall and carefully traced the hieroglyphs with her hands. She started reading quietly.
“Wow. Listen.
May you cross the sky united in dark. May you rise in light land, the place in which you shine. Set, Nephthys, go proclaim to Upper Egypt's gods and their spirits. This Unas comes, a spirit indestructible. If he wishes you to die, you will die. If he wishes you to live, you will live.
And these writings on the walls are a kind of Book of the Dead.”
“And these things are probably expensive. Let’s take one?”
Catherine heard Buggy’s voice and shifted her gaze at him. She saw the canopic chest standing in the wall and Buggy, who had almost taken one of the figurines in his hands.
“Don't touch! How did you... How did you find them?”
“I don't know. I just did what you usually do. Slid my hand along the wall and the thing opened. Cool stuff, yeah? Let's take it?” Buggy pointed to the vessels with his eyes and extended his hand.
“I said no!” She slapped his hands. “I already told you, don’t touch anything!”
“But why?”
“Do you know who it is?” Catherine pointed her finger at the four vessels.
“I don't know.” Buggy shrugged. “A dog, a baboon, a bird, and a guy with hair.” He pointed the flashlight at each thing.
“It's not the dog, the baboon, the bird, and the guy. It's the four sons of Horus. They assist the king in his ascent to heaven with the help of ladders. I told you about Horus, remember?”
“If you were naked then..” Buggy got lost in thoughts. “Then no.”
“No, idiot!! When we were on our first adventure.”
“No, either. Then I imagined you naked.” He giggled idiotically.
“Oh god!” Catherine rolled her eyes.
“So why can't I take them? Are you afraid that these nice guys can somehow harm me?” He stared at the vessels, hoping that Catherine would allow him to take one.
“I don't want to check, to be honest. We're in foreign territory. And we don't need to steal things from the Egyptian pyramids. God knows what curses are on them.”
“You're too late for curses, cotton candy. We stole part of the scepter from the last pyramid.” Buggy ran the flashlight over the heads of the creatures and squinted one eye.
“Stealing a scepter from the wall or a thing that's meant to hold the entrails is different. Please, Buggy, don't touch it.” She glanced at him with sad eyes.
He scowled, looking at her worried face, sighed sadly and stepped aside. Catherine approached the sarcophagus and began to examine it.
“You know, Cathie-pie, I wouldn't have gotten this far without you and your knowledge of all Egyptian things.” He said, scratching his head.
“What? What happened to you? You've been acting strange these last few days. You look at me all the time and say nice things.”
“I always say nice things to you! Just.. I don't know. Sometimes I think what would I do without you?” Buggy said quietly.
“Oh, you'd probably be drinking beer, sitting in bars or on the couch, and taking girls home to do to them what you're doing to me, little pervert.” Catherine let out a little blush and felt him come closer.
“Oh, believe me, I've never done that to anyone.” He chuckled, rested his chin on her shoulder and pinched her ass.
“I hate you! Don't you dare grab my ass in front of dead pharaohs.”
“You just called me a pervert in front of that pharaoh.” Buggy squeezed her buttocks.
“You like pissing me off, right?” Catherine narrowed her eyes and glanced at him.
“Ugh, my cotton candy gets angry, and we have sexual tension right next to the dead dude lying in the sarcophagus. How did you come to this, baby?” He wrapped his hands around her waist.
“You're disg.. Hush!” Catherine covered his mouth with her hand. “There's someone walking around out there.” She carefully removed her hand.
“Maybe it's a mummy that's risen and come to take you with it?” Buggy pinched her side slightly.
“Are you an idiot? No. It's probably those people we saw outside. Hell, why did everyone go to Egypt?” Catherine rolled her eyes and slapped his hands. “Get your clingy arms off!”
They heard voices and footsteps begin to move away.
“Okay, we need to find the clues and get out of here.” Catherine started snapping her fingers. “The clues. The clues.”
She sat down on her knees and scrutinized the walls. “I don't understand. I don't get it. What's the connection?”
“Maybe it has something to do with that man in the coffin?” Buggy asked, pointing the flashlights at the sarcophagus. “You said we're in the realm of this one. What's-his-name...”
“Osiris!” Catherine ran her fingers over her temple. “That's right! You're right!” She huffed and raised her hands above her.
“I'm right?!” There was surprise on his face.
“Yes! If we're in the realm of Osiris, and there's something like the book of the dead on the wall, do you know where we are?” Catherine stared with a pleased face.
“Are you expecting an answer from me?” Buggy bulged his eyes.
“We're on trial!”
“Yeah, that made it clearer.” He answered sarcastically.
“Shh, clown! Look for scales or a drawing of scales. Something like that.” Catherine started running from wall to wall.
“I didn't get anything, but okay.” Buggy started shining the flashlight on the wall. “Cotton candy, isn't that it?” He looked at the drawing behind the sarcophagus.
“Where? Where?” Catherine ran up to the sarcophagus and pushed Buggy away.
“For God's sake, woman!”
“Yes!! You're doing great!” She ran to him and pecked him on the cheek. “It is the Judgment of Osiris!”
“What?”
“Oh my god, Buggy! It's one of the most famous myths! The soul would embark on a dangerous journey through the afterlife to reach paradise. Once the journey through the underworld is complete, the deceased reach the Hall of Final Judgment. Do you know what the most important trial was according to Egyptian mythology? The Judgment of Osiris. Let me check.” Catherine climbed onto the sarcophagus.
“Cotton candy, what are you doing? You're trampling on a dead man.”
“Look! There’s a door behind the sarcophagus under the drawing with scales. Come here. Help me.” Catherine called Buggy with her hand.
He walked up to her and stood between the sarcophagus and the massive stone door.
“Try to move it!” She lightly spanked his back.
“Fuck, calm down, woman!” Buggy put his hand on the door and tried to move it. “Shit! It's heavy!”
“Quiet!” Catherine gently slapped his hands. “Do you hear that? Someone's coming.”
Buggy plopped down behind the sarcophagus and pulled Catherine's hand. She collapsed onto him and sat right on his lap, so that his legs were between hers.
“I should mention that I like the position you're sitting in, cotton candy.” He winked at her and growled slightly.
“Holy Gosh!!” Catherine looked out from behind the sarcophagus. “Quiet. They’re close!”
A small group of tourists entered the room.
Catherine peeked out from behind the sarcophagus and hid again. She pressed her face to Buggy's face.
“Ooh, too much, Cathie-pie, you're so sexy right now.” Buggy whispered and reached his hand towards her ass.
“You're nuts?” She grabbed his hand and covered his month with her other hand. “Quiet!”
They heard the group walking around the hall and after a while the sounds of footsteps began to drift away.
Catherine looked out and saw an empty room. “Finally! They’re gone.”
She stood up from Buggy and helped him up. “Let’s try to open this door.”
Buggy tried again to move the door. “It doesn’t work out. Fuck!”
“Wait! You see? The drawing! The scarab on the wall!” Catherine pressed her hands on the drawing. “Oh! I know! I know! We need to open the sarcophagus.” Catherine whispered and started hitting Buggy's hand.
“Excuse me?” He stared at her.
“There should be a decoration in the shape of a scarab inside. According to myth, the scarab came out of the eyes of Osiris, and was also a kind of guide to the afterlife. Help me!” Catherine slapped her hand over the sarcophagus.
“I’m really sorry. Weren't you the one who told me not to take any weird stuff?” Buggy indignantly whispered.
“Don't be a baby! Do you want the second part of the scepter or not? Help me!”
“Fine! Geez!”
They leaned on the lid of the sarcophagus and tried to push it aside. Catherine remembered about the hatchet in her bag. She took it out and gave it to Buggy. He struck the hatchet several times between the lid and the base of the sarcophagus, and they managed to open it.
“Shit. There are the remains of mummies and bandages!” Catherine squealed. “Where is the scarab? Where are you... There it is! Buggy! Under his hand. More precisely, what is left of it. Get it, please.”
Buggy reached into the sarcophagus and suddenly fell into it.
“Oh my god! Are you okay?!” Catherine whispered with worry in her voice.
“Yeah. Shit, this thing stinks. Is that what you asked for?” He showed the scarab in his hand.
“Yeah!” She squealed. “Wait. Why didn't you use your chop chop thing?”
Buggy looked at her, not knowing what to answer.
“Idiot and hero! But you smell like mummy now.” Catherine quickly kissed him on the cheek and helped him out. “Oh my God, I'm robbing graves.” She shook her head.
“You’ll have mental suffering later. What's next?” Buggy dusted his hands off.
Catherine placed the scarab on the drawing and quickly took out her notebook. “Okay. Now you just have to swipe it right three times and left four times and then press it.”
Buggy put his hands on the scarab and, at Catherine's command, rotated it in the right directions.
“And now what?” He asked at glanced at her.
The scarab's wings glowed a light turquoise color, and a narrow passage opened into a small corridor.
“Baby, if we find the second part of the scepter there now, I will buy the most expensive bottle of wine for you today.” Buggy rubbed his hands.
They entered the corridor and looked around.
“Look!!” She pointed to the drawing. “This is an allusion to the scales of Osiris. The transition to another world consisted of two parts. During the first part was when the soul stood between 42 judges. Here they are!” She patted Buggy on the shoulder and pointed to the drawings. “The second part was weighing the heart. Here is the drawing!” Catherine started jumping and kicking her legs. “The heart was weighed against the feather. If the heart was found to be heavier than the feather, it was fed to Ammut, a beast associated with the time of judgment. If the scales were balanced, the deceased had passed the test and was taken before Osiris, who welcomed them into the afterlife.”
“Cathie-pie, I love your lectures about Ancient Egypt, but how will this help us find the scepter?”
“Look! There are stones in the shape of a feather and a heart. And here is something similar to a scale. Buggy! I need your help again. Take the heart-shaped stone and put it on the left bowl, and the feather-shaped stone on the right.”
Buggy took the stones and put them where Catherine pointed.
“So, what is next?” He looked at her questioningly.
“I don’t know.. Oh, wait, there’s an inscription here! Wait… King.. Die.. Setting sun. Wait! Listen!
The king did not die,  He became the one who rises like the morning sun on the horizon.  He rests from life like the setting sun in the west, but he will rise again in the east.  O, king, you did not leave dead, you left alive!  Did you say he would die? No, he won't die.  This king lives forever. He escaped the day of his death.  O, high among the eternal stars! You will never die.”
As soon as Catherine finished reading the poem, the scales tipped towards the heart-shaped stone.
“Fuck!” Catherine sat down on the floor and buried her face in her knees.
“What happened?” Buggy asked with incomprehension in his voice.
“I don't know. If it's like a myth, I think...” Catherine mumbled in her knees.
“Um, cotton candy. Look!” Buggy lightly tapped her head with his finger. “Is it supposed to happen like this?”
Catherine raised her head. They saw the scales swung in the opposite direction and the heart appeared on the same level with the feather.
“It can't be! If this is all for real this means that Unis's soul had passed the test!” Catherine grabbed her head.
At that moment, the stones in the wall moved. Catherine jumped up and ran towards them. She reached into the opened space.
“Fuck, you see that?” She felt Buggy looking over her shoulder.
“Cotton candy, I think, we're having a party tonight!”

THE PRINCESS AND THE CLOWN (c.7)
This is a long fucking chapter because it’s basically the beginning of a lot of things. Since now we're starting the play hehe
As a teenager I studied about the novels of the Middle Ages and how there was a type of novels called Byzantine novels, which basically were about all the difficulties that the main characters had to go through to be together. In short: the real and original telenovelas. Well, between the influence of medieval literature and the fact that my grandmother has seen all the existing Latin and Turkish novelas, we’re going to start having adventures, aren’t we?
I hope you like this chapter. Thank you very much for all the support I received, I will never tire of saying it. Thank you for the comments and the reblogs and the likes <3
