HEAVENS: Love letters

Soooo this is the last of the love letter, I really must reiterate how thankful I am to the people who responded to my message. EIJI OTORI

Eiji Otori is another member of HEAVENS and he is a down-to-earth type of character. One can say he is a cinnamon roll as he looks out for HEAVENS and his brother, Eiichi. Eiji talks in a formal manner to people outside of HEAVENS and addresses them by their surname like the time he worked with Tokiya for Mighty Aura, or when he was working with Camus and Masato for Feather in Hand. Around HEAVENS, Eiji talks casually, calling them by their first name. He is very mindful of other members of HEAVENS and Eiji keeps an open mind for ways to improve his skills as an idol and to help out his bandmates come to a solution where both sides agree. Eiji speaks very fondly of the people he works with formality and a lot of respect.

What I love about Eiji is his relationship with his brother, Eiichi Otori. The two have a strong bond as Eiichi looked after and took care of Eiji when growing up. The two of them are inseparable and do a lot together while looking after each other. Personally, their sibling bond is what I wish to have with my sibling as well, even though we're complete opposites like day and night! Their interactions are easily seen throughout the anime, you can even see their sibling bond show the most through HEAVENS Radio as Eiichi and Eiji are the co-hosts. If there is anything that I'd like to know more about Eiji, it would be about his hobby, gardening. He has a lot of knowledge on plants and perhaps agriculture. It'd be nice to see HEAVENS talk about their hobbies one day. But all in all, Eiji is a great character that I appreciate with a heart of gold!

Eiji Otori, the 4th member of HEAVENS is one of my two most favorite characters in Utapri. I was originally drawn to his kind and gentle demeanor, that made him such an easily lovable character. He was introduced in the 4th season of the anime in the cross idol unit episodes. The way he treated Tokiya besides knowing he was part of the rival idol group ended up becoming an essential part of Tokiya’s later character growth. Although Eiji is meant to be a foil for Tokiya’s character their personalities are completely polar opposites, their devotion to wanting to be an idol being one of the only similarities besides level headedness. Eiji is his own character, right down the way he speaks to the way he sings. Eiji seems to always carry the group in a loving and family-like way, even going as far as having domestic hobbies like gardening and baking. We always see him and even hear the way he interacts with the other members of HEAVENS on the radio show as if they were an inseparable family. Eiichi, his older brother and the leader of HEAVENS loves him in a way that is so complex but Eiji will always love him back with every fiber of his being to the deepest parts of his soul. There is a deep connection between the brothers that is so beautiful that even poetry couldn’t express, it’s more profound then words can show. It’s a bond they share that only they know, like a secret.

However, even then there is so much more about Eiji that makes him such a wonderful character. When it comes to myself, Eiji hits a bit close to home in a more personal way. Perhaps that is also a factor in why I love him so much. I empathize with him and I can see through his eyes in ways only a younger sibling would know. As a younger sister to a sibling who has always been in the spotlight in some form of way with a big presence, I always lived in her shadow, but I admired her and cared about her above anything else. The way Eiji feels about Eiichi is something that I can personally relate with and understand. Eiichi is an essential part of Eiji’s character and the anime does not lack to show this, nor does it lack to show that Eiji is just as much an essential part of Eiichi’s character. It’s more obvious in the radio show that is hosted by the two brother but it’s not fully ignored either in the anime. I love how Eiji interacts with all of the characters, and seems to find ways to treat everyone with kindness even if they aren’t kind to him in return. He admires those who show a deep love for the things he does, and respects those who are more experienced then he is. He’s always eager to learn

and please. He’s the kind of person you’d always want around and you’d want a hug when things get rough. Eiji is definitely the most pure hearted character of all the Utapri characters. And, I’ll always stand by that through and through.

VAN KIRYUIN

Kiryuin Van. Where to start? He’s cocky. He’s cocky as all hell. There’s something in his air that is poised yet undignified. Childish yet mature. The man is founded on juxtaposition, not dissimilar to a painting of Picasso. His ability to be unique in an industry that begs for individuality, to rise above a tidal wave of competition and stand apart from other fish in the sea, is awe-inspiring. Expectation is dead to him; though the oldest member of Heavens, the weight of bearing the role as ‘most mature’ or the ‘parent’ of the group couldn’t be further from his concern. He is only any dimension of himself he wants to be at any given time. Dumb bitch by morning, bad bitch by night. Much like his bandmates, his confidence and intimidating aura is unwavering. He claims his victory before a race begins, and I couldn’t say if that undying faith in oneself is a skill or a sin. Whatever it is, he owns it. He shamelessly, unapologetically owns who he is and shares it with his fans, friends and enemies.

Also, he’s hot. He’s very appealing to the human eye. His ruggedness reminds me of a warm blanket in winter. His voice, oh his voice. If the world was about to blow up and he just said “No it won’t”, in his own way, I think I’d believe him. Regardless of what he says being juvenile or mature, he’s always authentic. No sugar coats, no little white lies, only genuity. As just said before, he is who he is and wouldn’t change for anyone if it wasn’t in his own best interest. Who couldn’t love a guy like that?

Where do I begin when it comes to Yamato? It took me a while to actually like him. At first, I wasn’t a fan of how he was when he first showed up in the anime. I still remember when Yamato was one of the few HEAVENS members people really didn’t like or care much for, next to Eiichi and Nagi.

I used to be one of those people too with Yamato. I found him to be very stubborn, but over time after listening to HEAVENS Radio; The Drama CDs; Watching Maji Love Kingdom, etc… I came to realize there’s so much more to him.

I’ve learned a lot more about him, especially through role-playing as him, and my love for Yamato skyrocketed. Even with all the new content that’s been coming out for HEAVENS lately like Black Garden and Endless Score, my love grows even more every day. Yamato sneaked his way up to being one of my best boys.

Yamato is HEAVENS’ Strongest member. (Seriously, how the heck does this boy train everyday and do so much of it?!) He’s not always aggressive and violent. He’s actually a really thoughtful person who cares about his friends a lot, even being very protective of them. Yamato is the kind of person that’ll immediately stop what he’s doing, and only think about how to help the other person feel better.

A lot of things tend to be overlooked for him cause of how he’s written in the anime, and there’s fans who only pay attention to that. Not even giving the extra content a thought or a single glance.

As Ryuya’s younger brother, Yamato has his own insecurities, especially since he’s always seen as just a shadow. He’s been trapped in darkness where he feels he’s not good enough to be appreciated and loved as his own person. He doesn’t know what to do and which path to take. Yamato only became an idol just to defeat and finally be better than Ryuya at something. I feel that goal is still there, but it’s not a major one like before. Now, Yamato has people like the other members of HEAVENS, the angels, and the other idols. He found his light and happiness.

Overall, Yamato is the kind of person he wants everyone to be proud of. He wants to always share his strongest power and energy, carrying the burden of everybody’s smiles. Wanting to see those around him happy and be the best they can be.

Another part that I really like about Yamato is whenever he gets embarrassed. I can’t help, but find that really cute cause it’s something we don’t see or hear out of him a lot.

There’s also the times he demonstrates how much he loves food. Even though he overeats and knows he can’t help it when he’s hungry, I really liked when Yamato stated that if eating makes you happy, go for it. Just make sure you train afterwards to burn off calories. It helps people feel good about themselves.

Even the times when Yamato struggles with difficult words, specifically English and kanji. It’s embarrassing for him to admit, but he knows he’s not good at that sort of thing. What I really like about this is HEAVENS is always willing to help him, even Tokiya and Cecil. They help keep things simple and easy for Yamato to understand.

There’s a lot you can say I just simply vibe with when it comes to Yamato, and I love him. Hope everyone enjoys this long appreciation of this strong boy, and I hope you all love him too!

SHION AMAKUSA

When I saw Shion for the first time, he caught my attention with his beautiful appearance. His cream-white hair, his periwinkle eyes and his pale skin were a wonderful combination that I just couldn't ignore. Physically, he was exactly the type of character I love… Even his hairstyle is great! And what to say about his pretty face! To me, he looked like an angel.

His style in clothes is something I also like about him. With all this mixed, the only word I can use to describe him is "perfect".

But, of course, there's more than just physical appearance. Shion's way of speaking, as we all know, is quite… Particular. And those beautiful words made me be more interested in this boy, even if they were a bit difficult to understand. This characteristic is something that, in my opinion, makes him special, not only in his group but among all the groups.

That poetic way of speaking is a beautiful combination with his voice. When he speaks I find it so mystical… And when he sings his solo songs I feel relaxed and even a bit emotional. He's not an angel just physically, he also sings like one!

But what made me love him completely was his personality. To be honest, at first I didn't understand why he acted so hostile to Cecil and signed with him, but when it was explained later I could see his point of view and I felt sorry for him, for how he was feeling and the big sacrifice he was making if we take into account his thoughts.

Loyalty is something I value a lot, and Shion has a huge loyalty towards his friends. After that incident, he changes his way of thinking and he starts getting more friendly to the rest, something I find beautiful.

I also find him very cute, an extra point for me to like him. His -sometimes- childish attitude is adorable! And how he acts around his friends… So lovely!

I also feel a bit similar to him in some aspects, such as listening to the same song again and again, liking birds or even usually feeling sleepy, besides other things. These similarities make me feel connected in some way with him.

Shion is a very special character for me, and I can't wait to see more content about him, to know more about this wonderful boy, for example, about his family, where he is from, how he ended up in HEAVENS, how he started to speak the way he does… There are a lot of things we don't know yet and I hope we can get more information about Shion soon!

Celine - preceded by an Ugh, she is very picky about hugs and especially people reciprocating. It's a tight, brief squeeze. She really likes hugs, but she has an """image""".

Captain Torpedo - tight hugs that last a little bit too long. It wouldnt be so bad if he didn't smell like seaweed and sulfer

Daphne - yknow those people who give very loving hugs while barely touching you? That's Daphne!

Dash - brief and to the point, he is not a hugger. He cannot focus on anything but the dirt that could be accumulating while he takes a break. Someone help him

GiGi - Really tight hugs that pop your back and usually end with him ruffling your hair, tipping your hat in front of your eyes, or a punch in the upper arm.

Jan - much like Daphne, he doesn't put a lot of squeeze in his hugs, but they're nice nonethless

Joey - dont fucking touch him

Kayane - tight and typically paired with her jumping up and down, she hugs out of excitement

Mia - hugs that she doesn't reciprocate at all except for a weak pat on the back/head, followed by her quickly changing gloves

Retdex - hugs that last for the right amount of time without being uncomfy, a real middle range on the scale

Timmy - hugs that really show off hidden strength from carrying a ladder all day

Yiruk - really tight hugs as he lifts you off the ground. Be careful of his spikes

Zam - SQUEEZE hugs that usually only happen when he's excited or it's been a while

Zed - uncomfy hugs. He doesn't like being touchy, no one likes this, please undo this interaction

DJ Subatomic Supernova - unless you're really close, hes just gonna kinda... push you away. HOWEVER, this man's hug quality. Top tier, I'm snatching that temperature idea and that makes it so much better because that makes it fit for the seasons

“Alicorns” are dumb

Please see “How fantasy works: Symbolic magic / thematic magic” for context.

In Friendship is Magic, there are four basic pony races, defined here as cartoon horses who normally have cutie marks:

Earth pony, look like normal cartoon horse, much stronk, good w/ plants

Pegasus, have wings, can stand on clouds, fly, generate wind currents

Unicorn, have horns, can do telekinesis & other magic stuff

Stronk + wings + horn, eventually called “alicorn”

When the show was first conceived, the only “yeah I’ll take everything” ponies were Celestia & Luna, the mysterious Princesses of Equestria. There was no special term; both were considered unicorns in early promo material.

Lauren Faust made them like that to symbolize that they were unbiased representatives of all three pony races.

Because they were all three races at once, and so far as anyone knew at that time they always had been, and they were the only two around, they could not be racist in favor of their own race.

... of course, due to Half-Elf Syndrome, this would not completely stop racists from hating them for being two-thirds another race... but it’s a big help.

Now let’s get into the nomenclature of “alicorns”...

The word “alicorn” originally referred to the material composing a unicorn horn, or to an entire horn intact. In ancient times, swindlers would pass off various animal body parts as alicorn, claiming that alchemical mixtures containing it would promote health and long life. The most popular actor to play alicorn was the spiraled tusk of the narwhal, and today unicorns are almost exclusively depicted with very similar spiraling horns.

Sometime around 1984, fantasy author Piers Anthony re-appropriated “Alicorn” as the personal name of a specific winged unicorn; he apparently saw it used in reference to a statuette of a winged unicorn in an ad, and had never heard of the word before then.

Anthony was a prolific enough author for this errant usage to quickly spread into the fantasy vocabulary of several languages - as in, several besides English, the only language where the word already meant something. Like “Pegasus”, it quickly changed from the name of an individual to the name of a species.

"Alicorn” eventually found its way into the brony fandom, where it became one of those words used obsessively to make sure everyone knows you know the word exists, even though Celestia and Luna are all three races and not only the two covered by the term, and the show lifted it from there.

Oh, right, let’s talk about that.

We’re all aware that Twilight, originally a unicorn, later became an “alicorn” (with the first in-show use of the term uttered by Rarity) thanks to a Deus Ex Machina. “Here’s a song, have some wings, OK bye”.

I got childishly butthurt about that like everybody else, but I realized in hindsight that it should have been very predictable: The most popular MLP toys were always the most princess-y ones, and Twilight was the main character and easily the most popular of the six both with little girls and with poonhounds, so of course they’d make her a Princess (at least in form) so they could release a whole second toy to make, to use the industry term, “a buttload of money”.

Twilight transforming into an “alicorn” was only mildly a problem unto itself:

It questioned the viewers’ natural presumption that “alicorns” were always that way and not a transformation to begin with.

It threw off the balance of two to a race the main characters had.

It worsened the narrative underuse of Rarity’s unicorn magic by making her even more obsolete in favor of Super Twilight.

It was a very clumsy end to a very clumsy season.

Still, it opened the door for further alterations to the “alicorn” concept.

What walked in the door was Cadance. She ruined everything.

Faust originally designed Princess Cadance (supposedly a royal family member) as a normal unicorn, the same way that Prince Blueblood (supposedly a royal family member) was a normal unicorn. I distinctly recall Faust’s immediate reaction to first seeing Cadance with a horn and wings was grumpy drunk-Tweeting, but don’t take my word for that.

The spinoff novel Twilight Sparkle & the Crystal Heart Spell, which was obviously written to send back in time to a little girl from the mid-1800s, clarifies that Cadance was born as a pegasus. She just kinda worldspawned in the woods like Minecraft. She beat an evil witch with the witch’s own magic that Cadance turned into love magic despite not being a unicorn and then Celestia showed up out of nowhere like Gandalf to just POOF make her “an alicorn” because apparently Celestia can just do that.

Also Cadance is adopted.

The adopted pegasus is an “alicorn” whereas the actual blood relative of the “alicorns” is just a unicorn. No wonder Blueblood has nothing but contempt for all living things.

The malafest pit of corruption that is Cadance’s uterus had to make her kid (Flurry Heart) “an alicorn” right at birth.

Celestia and Luna said they’d never heard of a pony being born as an “alicorn”, which means Celestia and Luna weren’t born that way either.

This destroys the entire reason “alicorns” were ever conceived.

If Celestia and Luna were once any of the normal three races (presumably unicorns), then they are no longer race-neutral; racists will still treat them like the race they started as, and the public can accuse them of bias in favor of their original race, all the same as if they were never “alicorns” at all.

Of course, Twilight (unicorn) and Cadance (pegasus) would suffer the same obstacle, with a mild advantage to Cadance in that what her original race is may not be public knowledge since that happened off in the magic fairy forests of horse-Germany and only Celestia, Princess of Trolling, is a credible witness.

Only Flurry Heart, 15+ years down the line, could reasonably claim to be race-neutral... but who’s going to believe her? That’s never happened before. The greatest living minds and oldest memories of Equestria, Celestia and Luna themselves, said they’d never heard of such a thing. The public will much more likely forget any proof they ever had of Flurry Heart’s birth and presume that, like every other “alicorn”, she wasn’t originally one and that she’s trying to hide “what she really is”.

After all, racism is founded on delusion; it doesn’t matter what race Flurry really is, merely what parody of race she can be plausibly dubbed as.

Race-neutrality was the only reason to have any “alicorns” at all and none of them can fulfill that purpose; not even the one who’s actually race-neutral.

Here’s what we got in exchange for that blunder:

Absolutely nothing

"Alicorns” gained no consistent lore or mechanics for how they occur, nor any clarification of how or even whether they differ from unicorns in magic or from pegasooses in flight.

There is no clear meta-reason why the writers even need them, other than as bland children of destiny, drivers of toy sales, and general fanservice.

None of the events centering around the game of Who’s The Next Alicorn adds anything particularly profound or even consequential, and none of the characters seem to really give a damn about “alicorns” in general. Nobody is even all that surprised to see Twilight’s transformation; they just go “Wow cool!” and roll with it. The only strong reaction is the characters’ horror when they see Flurry Heart’s wings and realize the show officially doesn’t give a shit anymore about making sense or having cohesive themes.

It doesn’t even benefit the people who make bad Mary Sue OCs on DeviantArt, because they were already making “alicorn” OCs when it was only Celestia & Luna. That’s where the show got the term from, after all.

What a complete waste of potential.

Maddening Lions Update #2

[CAUTION. SPOILERS FOR FE3H AHEAD. MAYBE ALL ROUTES. SOME PARALOGUES OVERLAP.]

2.5 moons have passed since last update which means it's officially SEASON OF THE MASTERCLASS~ Everyone is in their master classes! Yay! Even Gilbert, who I didn't think I'd be using!

The Battle to Defend Garreg Mach part 2:

I had a friend who got to this battle on Maddening and quit, so I was nervous going in. She got pinned by pegasus knights and couldn't move forward to take them out without losing someone and rather than lose a student, decided she'd rather start over.

With one archer, we made it through.

It got a little hairy! But we made it. Things that helped: Dancer Flayn with Stride and Sniper Ashe with Hunter's Volley and a Mini Bow+. COME AND GET SOME, SKYHORS. And gambits. Gambits, gambits, everywhere. It was awfully considerate of the enemies to line up so nicely for us. :P I feel like for the most part, the battles seem to begin very difficultly, and then as you survive the initial onslaught, it's easier to move forward.

In the grand tradition of killing our own family members, we had Caspar hit Randolph again. This time he was a little more ready, but Randolph softened himself on Dimitri first.

I love the end of this battle, too, because Dimitri shouts, "Professor! Get down!" While he's still not really speaking to Byleth and my neck practically cracked as I did a double-take to re-read it. He's still in there and still cares. ♡

Ailell, the Valley of Torment:

Lmao so anyone classed as a Sniper now has Vantage so that's fucking fun. I booked it over to the right-hand corner because that's where your allies come from, but Rodrigue was later than expected. Once we figured out where the archers could reach and how to deal with Vantage, this map wasn't too bad. And Rodrigue was fortunately much better leveled this time (in Felix's paralogue, he's level 10!! And like everyone else is early 20s!! AUGH). It also helped that we had a bunch of Holy Knights ignoring the lava underfoot with their sacred horse powers.

I wonder about Lord Gwendal sometimes. He's far less pertinent in other routes, because he's some nobody knight from Faerghus, but Blue Lions seems to really poke at how terribly bad chivalry is, and Lord Gwendal is another reflection of that. He seeems to hate what he's doing, based on his death quote ("I've finally found somewhere to die"), but can't turn his back on his Lord or else he undermines the very code he upholds. It's a rock and a hard place.

Paralogue: Mercedes and Caspar:

So I chose Caspar for my B-string specifically for this paralogue. He was unfortunately not as stronk as we would have hoped (ongoing theme with this poor boy; my fault for B-stringing him), but with the power of the goddess, anime, and moar gambits, we succeeded in our mission:

Let Caspar strike the final blow on the Death Knight.

My poor butt believed this would complete the paralogue. It does not. You still gotta kill every last one of them route the enemy.

But now we have the Scythe of Sariel. [wahahas intensify]

Lethality Annette absolutely destroyed some demonic beasts, and was well worth the detour into Assassin (and plus it drove my roommate insane, so added bonus). I am so pleased that Lethality triggers off of magic damage as well as physical. Watching a demonic beast with like 132 HP go down in one Excalibur tornado was a beautiful sight.

Paralogue: The Holy Tomb:

Like honestly fuck this place. The right side of the map has two punks with Bolting, the range of which is DISGUSTING. I put Mercedes on the edge to tank the magic hits and healed her as we pulled back into a corner. We ran one guy out entirely before I noticed there was a second one. The left side only has Ragnarok, so we were able to creep up on them and pincer around once those Bolting creeps were dealt with.

I was hoping to mine Mythril from here, but in Maddening the bosses don't stay put, so I only broke barriers on 2/3 giant robots before we finished the map. First time in like 5 playthroughs I haven't cleared the room. And we could have! If it weren't for those meddling Cavaliers.

Muse Occupation: Performer, but he sometimes picks up odd jobs in different cities to make an extra buck. Lately he’s been unloading ships at the docks, usually produce but sometimes fresh seafood, often carrying the smells of the waters with him.

Muse Affiliation & Frequent Haunts: No affiliation. He frequently visits the The Blue Lotus, as gambling has become one of the quickest ways he’s learned to make money. Never betting more than he can lose, Jonas has been able to manage his gambling for the moment, though he did lose nearly everything one night on a train in Germany, when a station agent pulled him from the boxcar. He can be found hoping from many of the Parisian cafes, but has really only fallen in love with Parc Montsouris as his primary choice in leisure.

Direct from Le Petit Journal: A man of few words himself, we here at the Le Petit Journal also have just a few words to share. We’re not sure where he’s come from, nor where he’s planning to go, but one thing we can all agree on is that the sadness lingering in his eyes is surprisingly easy to overlook when he’s sharing such sweet symphonies. Always around to lend an open ear, we cannot wait until the day we hear a piece of his own story.

BIOGRAPHY

To put it quite simply, to be born into the Haskell name was to be born into some of the best circumstances anyone could ask for. Nurtured and cared for by a great team of nannies, cooks, servants, and the occasional assist from his actual birth mother, Jonas never had to worry about a thing in the world as he grew. He has always known warm sunshine cascading into his home from beyond the gloriously stained glass windows that stretched out through the home. The colorful light shined upon him as he drew inspiration from them, the beauty in the majesty of them moving him at a young age towards creativity. Any instrument he wished to play was provided to him, lessons bought and plenty of the hours spent within his home were filled with whatever sound he was experimenting with at the moment. But as hard as he tried to drowned out the screams and the alarming sound of plates clashing to the ground, there seemed to never be a sound loud enough to hide the ugly truths. The sweetness in his sounds were the only aide he had as the chaos around him seemed to only grow louder.

As the years began to pass, the noises that Jonas had tried for so long to quiet had done just that to him. His words always went unheeded, falling not onto deaf ears, but ears that didn’t have the slightest regard for the lips that were aching so desperately to speak, to perform, to be noticed. Only speaking when spoken to, Jonas has gained quite a reputation for being an enigma of sorts, though he knows he’s the furthest thing from that. His heart isn’t written onto his sleeve, but rather onto the papers that contain endless verses filled with his sorrows, burdens, and happinesses.

It all started with weekend trips with his aunt and uncle to Paris, his parents claiming it would be good for Jonas to get out of the house, see something new, never saying the truth everyone but them could see. These trips were a sort of salvation for the young boy, whose heart yearned to be far from his home whenever he was there, and ached at the realization that he couldn’t stay away forever. But as the trips he took to different countries and different cities, exploring each culture for what they offered and finding music helped him connect with so many people wherever he went, Jonas realized that in order to truly be happy he’d have to release himself from the privileges he’d been given in life and make something for himself in a new place.

He’s been traveling the world solo now for three years, after finishing his last year of school. He’s lived in seventeen countries, all of which he’s never stayed in for more than three months at the most. Mainly staying with other artists he meets or hippies who are nice enough to welcome him in, Jonas has kept up the tradition of sending postcards to many of the people he’s met, as they’ve all impacted him in different ways. The last place Jonas visited before returning to Paris was New York City, where he stayed in the home of a great poet. He learned a lot about love and loss during his trip to the states, and looks back on the memories fondly. But he’s moved past that now, and never allows anything from his past to hold him back or tie him down. Perhaps that’s just why he cannot find stability, because he refuses it for himself.

POTENTIAL PLOTS/CONNECTIONS

I think the first thing that I’m getting excited to start developing is the fact that Jonas has this deep desire for a home, a comfortable place he can be that brings him joy and is stable. The fact that his home life was less that superb, it has left him searching for something like that, though he’s not sure why he’s been unable to find it. Everywhere he visits, he tries to make into the home he’s searching for, but nothing has stuck. That’s why he returns to Paris time and time again, because it’s the closest thing he can find. So I think developing thing through his connections with people, the other performers or artists, will certainly be fun. And maybe if someone brings a family member of his in the future.

Favorite Chocobro: It’s obviously Gladio. How could it not be? HE’S TOL AND STRONK AND HAS A BIG BIRDY TATTOO.

Favorite Guest Party Member (including Ravus and Libertus from DLC): I have to pick my slap-wife, Aranea. She is the best bae. Who else picks you up by slapping you?

Favorite Minor Character(s): Talcott. One of my favorite things is when he poses like a cactuar. It fucking kills me on the inside.

Favorite Villain: *Glances around* I mean... isn’t... isn’t there only one villain? Obviously I have to pick His Majesty, Ardyn. Other than that, minor villain would be Loqi. He just pops up for such a short amount of time only to GET REKT...

Favorite Kingsglaive Character: Crowe.

Favorite Astral/Divine Being: Shiva. Dis bitch’s frozen tiddies saved my booty during my first fight with Ifrit.

Favorite Character Overall: *Stares into the camera* If you have to ask, then you already know.

Favorite Weapon: I relied heavily on the Ultima Blade, Balmung, and Nyx’s kukris for a very long time. And then I started to use and abuse the Bow of the Clever until they patched that... Now I’m using the Shield of the Just to farm AP. *Woop woop.*

Favorite location: I think if we had gotten to see more of it, Tenebrae would’ve been my favorite. It looked so pretty in Kingsglaive, and in those small glimpses we get to see. Otherwise, it’s s solid tossup between Malmalam and Costlemark. I know, I know. Costlemark is a bad word. But take the puzzle out - the dungeon itself is magnificent. It’s beautifully constructed (if it weren’t crumbling) and just... massive. That overwhelming feeling of being in it makes me happy. Malmalam makes the witchy-heart inside me beat happily. Being in an overgrown woodsy area? Yes please.

Favorite Quest/Questline/Hunt: CUPNOODLE QUEST. GET DADDY ALL THE NOODLES. (Not really. It actually felt insanely uncomfortable watching.) My favorite quest is probably going on the photoshoot with Prompto by the Catoblepas.

Favorite Boss: I’m just going to list the “Menace Quests” here - these were the true bosses for me. Fuck a Menace quest.

Favorite Daemon/Monster/Monster Family/etc: Melusine, or Ayakashi. Everyone loves a good snake-lady. But I really love the Ayakashi’s design - it’s a modified version of the yojimbo.

Favorite Song: “Calling for Rain”. This song gets me SO RILED UP. My FIGHT SONG!

Favorite Boss Theme: "Omnis Lacrima”. This is the kind of song that really makes you feel like you’re up against something... big.

Favorite Non-Episode DLC/Update/Event: Uhh. This is actually a hard question for me. I suppose it would be the Assassin’s Festival. I would’ve gone with the Moogle-Chocobo Carnival, but if I hear “Oooh Moogles are SO ADORABLE!” one more fucking time, I swear...

Favorite Episode DLC: I have been underwhelmed by every single one. As a whole, content wise, Episode Prompto has been my favorite I’d say.

Other Favorites of Note: I have to echo @atarostarling‘s comment of the way the boyband interacts. It really makes the game feel special - like you get to be a part of that bond. The gameplay itself could’ve been so much better, but, I overlook it time and time again for their playful banter, wrist bumps, and mocking.

OH BOY MY DUDE, prepare yourself for all the info under the cut

1. What is their favorite word?

Uh, dragon, of course, at least I’m inclined to say dragon. In elvhen her favorite word would probably be “Enasal” or “Enasalin” which could mean victory in the latter or as the wiki says “joy in triumph over loss” for enasal. Just because those words mean a lot for her.

2. How do they sleep

I mean, not that great in one way this could go, but we’ll get into the how she sleeps first, physically at least. She’s always cold and leeches off everyones body heat so she always keeps a shit ton of blankets in her bed. Not only that but her bed is a four poster with the curtains hanging off of them to keep in the heat, you can imagine her favorite season is summer, also winter because everyone wants to be warm.

On the more emotional side of things, Callie doesn’t sleep very well at any point. As a child it was hard to sleep because of nightmares that her mother would be able to soothe, but her mother died when she was fairly young, after that nights are really the worst time. It only eases a little bit when she finally gets together with her partners, whether in canon with Solas, or with Halla in their au, or Isidoro in my combined canon au with Alexx. Especially after Here Lies the Abyss she can hardly sleep because of both the anchor and because of the dead that call to her at night.

3. Favorite companion

She wouldn’t really be able to choose if directly asked, even those she may not agree with she still loves in her own way for them. Her best friends are Cole, Sera, Dorian, Bull, and Varric though, out of the main companions, as well as Solas, because she romances him. Calliope adores all the advisors, including my Warden-Commander Mahariel who joins with Ophelia (my hawke) after Here Lies the Abyss.

4. What secrets do they keep, untold to anyone?

Calliope is pretty much an open book to anyone that is fairly close to her, but she has some secrets that aren’t widely known except to her twin brother and the Inner Circle. Shockingly the secret has nothing to do with being the reincarnation of Falon’Din, which was pretty hard to keep out of anyones way once the ball started rolling. No, it’s the fact that she has such a hard time feeling like she is needed for anything, that she feels much of what has happened in the world is her fault. She also mainly keeps her feelings about her gender to herself and only lets people know what pronouns they should use for her, and it’s pretty much not spoken about as to what her orientation is, but everyone knows she isn’t straight.

5. How do they feel about magic

Magic and the Inquisitor have a complicated history honestly. Both herself and her brother came into magic at the same time, Elessar accidentally froze Keepers feet to the ground while Calliope set a halla’s ass on fire and almost caused a stampede. She was not raised as a mage because of the high volume in her clan and they did not wish to be called upon by the Chantry, so Elessar was the one trained as a mage instead. Calliope was trained to be a Master and a Hunter, which she excelled at rather well; she was awarded the position of Protector of her fathers aravel when he went on excursions for trade.

During Inquisition she comes into her magic with mixed feelings, she really doesn’t pay too much attention for a while. The spells she knows are really only fire based and healing based, as well as being the most basic. She has no problem with magic really, as many of her friends and family are mages. There are a few times when Bull says shit about magic that she gets very defensive and upset, but aside from that there isn’t much until trespasser. Her thoughts on blood magic are even alright with it really, as long as it’s consensual to both parties if someone else is involved.

6. How do they feel about killing

She feels that it is a necessary evil, nothing more nothing less. If someone deserves to be killed than they will be. Callie tries to spare the innocent as much as she can. After all she is Falon’Din, so her views on death aren’t an end, and even without being Falon’Din she sees death as something that isn’t an end even if she grieves pretty heavily when someone dies.

7. How do they feel at night, in silence, all alone?

Badly, it’s all negative feelings all at once. She tries to keep away from this situation as much as possible.

8. Tell me about them in a modern AU

I actually have two of these for Calliope! In DA:I in a present day setting she’s still Inquisitor, at least eventually, but she comes from a farm/general store owning family from an elven town in the Free Marches. She’s trying to go to school in the city when the Temple of Sacred Ashes (a political summit in this au) gets blown to pieces, she was there to observe as part of a class she’s in for college, along with several other members of that class.

In a regular modern day au she’d still be a college student, probably going for a double major in Religion and History. Her twin brother is going to college for Forensic Sciences, and there’s a lot of coffee shop shit, and falling for a good looking Grad Student who works at the school library.

9. What is their favorite meal

Dalish Forest Comfort with Hearth Cakes!! I own the Dragon Age cookbook and it’s real good. Callie would love her cultures food even if other people would consider it to be plain.

She can tie a knot in a cherry stem with her tongue, also she’s shockingly good with the stable creatures? And I say creatures because have you seen the Dracolisks?

Calliope carries herself as a kind and easy going person, which gets some people thinking they can just walk all over her, where she quickly puts them back in their place. If they do it more than once she gets really angry, and no one wants to see the five foot tall reaver and reincarnation of falon’din angry.

Probably getting more angry than needed, and also she cries a lot but that’s not really immoral behavior?? She also won’t give mercy if she isn’t shown mercy. Calliope also hates no one except herself almost exclusively.

15. What was a turning point in their life

Honestly? The end of Trespasser. Calliope gets really hard for a while and bitter, thankfully raising Athim and focusing on helping people affected by Solas’ shit does give her back some softness that she lost.

16. Do they ascribe to any religion

Nope, she doesn’t believe in Andraste, nor does she believe in the Creators.

17. How do they react to trauma

Depends on what kind it is, but usually she shuts down first, then gets angry, or really really weepy and sad.

18. What is their relationship to their parents

Calliope adored both of her parents, her mom Imryll died when she was really young but she paved the way for a lot of good things that Callie strives for nowadays. Her dad was the saving grace in a lot of situations so she loves him very much, she gets very depressed when he dies. Elgar’nan and Mythal are another thing altogether, she gets defensive about Mythal, and angry towards Flemeth for claiming to be her. Her “father”? Well she doesn’t talk about him a whole lot.

Yep! She has one! His name is Elessar and he is her fraternal twin.

Well the egg is her love interest in canon, but in the Pure World State AU, @charlatanreyes ‘s Isidoro Rosetti is her husband, he’s an Antivan Enchanter who’s very good and lovely. The other is the kickass Halla Trevelyan from @lorspolairepeluche !!

Calliope is nonbinary and prefers they/them or she/her pronouns, her orientation is panromantic demisexual.

22. Tell me about their body, are they tall, or smol

Callie is very smol and stronk. Abs for days. She also has albinism.

23. What is their combat style and weapon of choice

SLASH AND HACK THEM, the bloodier the better, and her weapon is a Sulevin Blade with a master dragon slaying rune.

Calliope is afraid of uthenera/the long sleep, and failure.

25. Do they follow their instinct or hard facts

Instinct all the way, Calliope is very emotional and not a logical being at all.

26. How do they cope with sorrow

Not very well at all. Grief comes in large waves and she’s very empathetic unfortunately, even more than is healthy honestly. If it’s to a really severe level she’ll isolate herself for a long time because she doesn’t want to bother anyone at all with her feelings. If she’s pressed about it too she’ll flare up with anger, especially if she doesn’t know you very well.

27. What makes them burst out laughing

BAD JOKES. LIKE REALLY BAD JOKES. Also there was one time that Dorian showed up to a meeting with his mustache all fucked up and Calliope was very tired, she started going into a giggle fit that no one could cure.

28. Tell me about their grooming routine

Well really all she does is bathe and wash her hair/skin, she doesn’t have much time for anything else. But sometimes she’ll have moments with Solas or her other LI’s and take long baths with nice smelling oils.

29. What makes them blush

I MEAN, anything really, especially if her LI is teasing her. Honestly anything in front of other people will get her to blush really bad. Solas once kissed her full on in front of the group one morning in the Frostbacks, just a lazy kiss that he didn’t think much of and she was red for the full morning.

30. What makes them cry

Injustice and death, which often go hand in hand. Sometimes she’ll wake up during nightmares crying, and certain memories will trigger crying fits if she’s not careful.

31. Tell me about their aesthetic

Blood, golden sharp teeth, green lightning, big ass swords, ravens, cryptic sayings, dragons, and sleep. Also bear hugs.

32. If they had a tumblr, what would they post

Probably lots of positive posts and social justice things, book quotes, flowers. Honestly anything on dragons too and lots of adorable animals, some shit on history and certain videogame stuff too.
