5, 9, 16 for the ask game!
5. What do you think is the most character-defining c!Dream scene?
vassalvassalvassalvassalvassal--
I think. In terms of moments that actually ummm are the most telling of his character in general, vassal wouldn't necessarily be my choice. But in terms of impact on his character, god, is there anything more defining? If we are talking about c!Dream and the villain persona and every single action defined upon that as a foundation, you HAVE to talk about vassal. If we're talking about c!Dream and c!Tommy and the moment that truly set their roles in stone, it has to be Vassal. Vassal is what leads to c!Dream who "does everything for chaos" in November 16th, vassal is what led to a c!Dream who stood alone after Wilbur's death, vassal is what led to the breakdown at the end of Pogtopia that was the driving force behind all of his actions to put himself in prison, vassal is where he gives Wilbur the TNT, Wilbur who he intentionally echoes in Doomsday. If you make a list of c!Dream's standpoints on a variety of L'manburg related issues, not only is c!Wilbur the common thread between any changes in viewpoint he expresses, but Vassal is as well. Everything in season 1b is, in a lot of ways, The Fallout after season 1a, obviously, but also more specifically Pogtopia and especially the vassal conversation.
Dream acting in Wilbur's service at the same time that he resigns himself to play his role in service to The Lmanburg Narrative DOES ANYONE ELSE HEAR ME--
okay. i'm normal again
9. How do you headcanon c!Dream's appearance? Does it ever change?
Funniest part of this ask is that like, 2 years ago, I literally made a series of c!Dream portraits literally about this. I'd say that my designs have probably changed some since but I'll throw them here bc they're relevant:
Tumblr media
(+1 plus the post-prison one I made as an update:
Tumblr media
I don't have the strongest opinions on his appearance besides. Normal guy. Human. I tend to draw him with straighter hair, which is kinda funny to me--armor + mask usually, especially later on in the story. I tend to flip between wanting his appearance to have more obvious marks from the torture versus less so (I do love myself the horror of healing potions can literally heal everything so I play with that sometimes) but I definitely like a gaunter appearance post-prison. I do have a degree of preference for prettyboy c!Dream, because I think it plays with the whole dehumanization + mask thing in a fun way as well as how a lot of people on the server who see him + his power as a threat think that their best means of dealing with him is through subjugation + taking his power by force + making him their bitch.
16. What's your favorite c!Dream headcanon?
Ooooh that's a hard one...hmmmm. Mostly hard because I can't recall literally anything on demand. To Be Fair. Idk, maybe along the lines of the original Disc Wars (now that we've had both c!Dream and c!Tommy refer to those times as being much more lighthearted compared to later conflicts) there have always been a few conflicts where, in the spirit of the whole prank war nonsense that originally inhabited that first "war," I've been a fan of the idea of c!Dream going easy on c!Tommy and c!Tubbo (mostly because at the time I was preeeetty sure cc!Dream was going easy on them at a few points, the whole conflict with the ender chest being a standout. Like okay Tommy Just So Happened to craft the ender chest JUUUUUUUUUST in time. Mmhm. Sure..)
But for a later one bc it's the only thing my head is giving me, probably that c!Dream was high as fuck in the c!Bad prison stream. Those potatoes were not clean Sam and you know it 🙄

DANNY GOING 💥 ANON HERE. HEWWO. I AM SO GLAD THIS ISN'T CANON
this is perhaps??? the 8th time im rewriting this??????????? but i keep coming back to it. you're one of my favourite authors period so i HAD to just fuckging. absorb all of this so i could process it correctly.
okay okay so
1. widower tim breaks my fucking heart. like really there is no way to properly convey this to you over the screen. like. his whole thing is love, right? it's why he's the witness in literally every iteration of the gtcu. so for him to have to actually Witness gerry's death and be the most broken i have seen him across three aus where the world ends in every one of them breaks me. beyond belief. you and ren made him my favourite (next to danny) and then some. waugh
1b. 'a spire in the fog' A LIGHTHOUSE WITHOUT A LIGHT, YOU COULD SAY?
1c. i don't remember the ronologue it was exactly but it said that marriage wasn't a serious consideration but wife is a nickname that gerry loves?
2. pink is jon's honesty colour. he is wearing a pink kurta. i am going to sob.
2b. the description of the sunny day that gerry died on makes me wail.
3. MELANIE'S EVERYTHING. I LOVE HER SO MUCH. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE IDEA OF HER MAKING A MEMORIAL VIDEO FOR GERRY FEATURING ALL THE STATEMENT GIVERS WHO WE HELPED. TIMOTHY HODGE. CAROLINE. CALLUM.
4. divishah and the cocoa. god. actually rewinding a little to say that i made it to 'no more estrogen' before crying. sasha did lose a sister!!!! HER BROTHER DIED AND SO DID HER SISTER. FUCK
4b. okay back to the cocoa. that was really kind of her to come all the way down to the archives just to bring them all a treat i love her so much.
4c. SASHA LIKE. REVERSE WITNESSING TIM? IDK HOW TO EXPLAIN IT BUT GOD. GOD GOD GOD /pos
4c(i) sasha and tim's sections ending the same then danny's ending as the inverse of that. they are the siblings 4ever.
5. DANNY. DANNY!
5b. okay i am really fucking pleased because i think i figured out a through line here. I will put it in a second ask because i need to back (9th time now!) to make sure i am correct so i will leave my miscellaneous observations here
danny only names himself in his dialogue once he recalls coming back when gerry can't
he calls himself the bull and Martin the tamer like how the contortionist did
tim standing in the doorway and blocking him out reminds me of hlm when danny comes to tims house the first time and tim refers the black out curtains he had to get bc of jon's stalking? that's like. the loosest connection ever lmao but it's a parallel and it hurts. (warm and solid vs cold and intangible...)
seconding this by the description of tim's eyes being the same way as the 'nothing. and nothing hurt' that keeps popping up in rtd.
also thanking you for letting danny cry? that sounds weird but it's nice to see a moc that just. is allowed to let it out. i am rotating him (all of them really) in my head
BOOM ANOOOON i'm so glad to see you! you really did just Infiltrate My Brain with that ask and i got completely overtaken and it feels like it's been more than 5 days ngl. thank you So much for the inspiration, i did have a lot of fun with this exercise, it was a challenge to kill my favorite LOL.
cracks knuckles here we go
1. widower tim breaks MY heart! "his whole thing is love, right?" you GET IT! his whole thing IS love! i can't see him as anything other than the witness at this point, even if pbr!witness is extremely different and Much Wetter than the original rtd!witness. him witnessing gerry's death in here is actually just fucking awful because he'd subsist on it in a very specific way; the arrangement renders it a suicide just as much as a murder. writing him this broken was so painful but so satisfying djhfkjdf tim is a worthy favorite to have! he's always been my favorite of the original archives crew, if it wasn't Blatantly Obvious by how much we center him LMAO.
1b. a lighthouse without a light.... you're krilling me, boom anon. shrimply krilling me.
1c. i believe it was the one about gerry being a transfem gay man!
2. pink! is the jon honesty color! yes!!!! he's been quite forthright this whole time i think, they're all really just. wondering what the point would be in anything else.
2b. i neeeeded that anachronism there so badly, just. it's a bright summer day! it's never actually raining or dreary when things like this happen (unless you recall that it was raining in venice when tim was drowned. that time it rained.) but generally, the world goes on. i think... i also just wanted that sunny day to be a little reminder of the kind of person gerry was at his core. symbolism etc etc.
3. i was SOOOO STUMPED ON MELANIE for a WHILE before i remembered she was a youtuber and then i exploded on the spot. her video is titled "the long overdue absolution of gerard keay" and she works for six months to make it perfect and it gets a lot of bad attention and skeptics but mostly condolences and maybe even a few people who had their own experiences but didn't recognize who he was until they saw a picture of him smiling. she'd include selfies they'd taken together as proof of her knowing him. i'm crying a little.
4. sasha losing a sister is a phrase i had a hard time with because there are so many ways to read it, like. that was her best friend's wife, and so kind of her sister that way, but also just. a sister. no more estrogen. no more joy.
4b. divshah is a sweet and thoughtful little bee girl and i am so sorry to her forever because people definitely make fun of her but GERRY NEVER DID! GERRY NEVER DID!
4c. sasha reverse witnessing tim GUHHHH yep! yep! her whole corruption thing is about grief, too, it crosses lines! they all have to do with loss in one way or another!
4c(i). YES YOU NOTICED THE INVERSE YESSSS my work here is complete
5. DANNY INDEED! FUCK!
5b. 9 times jhbfkjnfkjn wildman! i'm crying again!
observations:
YES I AM SO GLAD YOU NOTICED THAT TOO i didn't want him to name himself much in his pov section but i needed to use it there and GUH. you are the most observant and you made my night jdfhbdk
always comes back to the bullfighter and the bleeding man dunnit
that's a fun connection to make tbh!!!! i was saying to ren today "you know what'd Suck the most? if tim didn't even let him in the house and they just talked in the doorway" and they were like "then you have to do it. if it sucks the most that's what you have to do." and YEP! it sucks the most to me!!!! for precisely that reason!
tim's eyes also hurt me like hi mr. spooky man maybe work on that a little bit please g-d you're gonna scare a small child like that. very good connection to rtd though you are NAILING IT and i am over the MOON.
danny crying is extremely important to me for that reason too yes g-d. like. all the other men cried in this, too (especially tim YIKES, MAN) but something about letting danny just weep openly and in such a human way felt like. g-d he's needed this for such a long time. so much longer than anybody is able to count. he needed to let that out and be held through it and he needed to accept that comfort and it's not the first time, really! i try not to be too restrained with letting characters cry because there are a thousand reasons that somebody might like, feel good about seeing it just play out naturally and without shame.
thank you so much for your observations and your enthusiasm and just, everything, jfhbkjnfkjn gosh WOW thank you!

Murder on the Orient Express (1974) vs. Murder on the Orient Express (2017)
Never read the book so I'm considering plot-related things that probably happened in the book as the creations of the movies and it will count towards their rewards and penalties.
Things I liked from both:
-the handkerchief! big fan. the mystery of the handkerchief was better than the mystery of who murdered that guy.
-I like the locations in both. I like the scenery. I think they played with the being stuck on a train thing in their own ways and it worked out.
-There was a third thing I can't remember.
Things I despised from both:
-the ending. the dumbest ending in mystery history. mstry hstry. miss tree his tree.
-sorry i got distracted. literally it was so anticlimactic and SOOOO dumb. I had a friend who really liked the ending but he had horrible opinions about everything so fork spotted in the kitchen i guess. anyway drives me insane to this day.
Things I liked better in 74:
-The train. Looks like a real train. We get to look at it for a long time. A movie made for train-lovers, which is the main draw of Orient Express as a concept anyway.
-Generally better looking cinematography. I like.
-Hector. Freaking. McQueen.
-First of all, Anthony Perkins? Damn. Second, Anthony Perkins as McQueen? GAYYYYY (flirtatious). Noticed him the moment he appeared on screen. Totally in love with everything he did. No notes except a tiny one with my number on it. Anyway
-Ms. Hubbard. Genuinely annoying af as God intended. and she didn't have a random wig reveal (although that was funnnny. again that Branagh melodrama that's so ridiculous sometimes but admirably bold every time). anyway idk i like her. I don't like her but I do. the girlboss effect in action.
-The Armstrong case summarized in the BEGINNING thank you for making sense. Was so jarring in the 2017 version that they just randomly mention it later in the movie. No prior allusion to it or anything. Those first few scenes in the 74 version were unsettling to me in a good way.
-They look so relieved and happy when Poirot and Bianchi vote to pin the murder on the imaginary guy. It's just a cute little moment idk. Some of them hug each other. McQueen smiles and stands up and sits down for some reason.
Things I liked better in Branagh's:
-Branagh as Poirot. I feel like I'll be unjustifiably assassinated for this but I like him a lot. In this movie specifically, he's great. I dislike Orient Express compared to his three Poirot movies in almost every other respect but he was very refreshing here.
-From what I've seen of Branagh as a director, he excels at melodrama, and it shows here.
-Loveee how during the breakdown Poirot had no fucking idea who did it. When he said "it is time to solve this case" he meant it so literally. He meant "well we're on a deadline so I'm just gonna start talking and hope it all works out." Relatable af that's me writing my essays and shit. Also very funny.
-So there’s a scene, right? There’s a scene with Hildegarde (great name btw) and Poirot where he questions her in German so the princess can’t understand it and then she mentions seeing “the other conductor” in the sleeping car and he’s so shocked he switches to English and he’s like “WHAT other conductor???” and that was so cool you had to be there it was cool. Too bad it didn’t mean anything but it was sick.
-I like Bouc slightly better than Bianchi. Now, Bianchi has the better name. Fun to say. He was very silly and cool. But I can’t pretend I don’t love Bouc. C’mon.
-The count and countess. WOW. They were charming in 74 but in this one they are HOT. Holy shit. Even better somehow that we don’t meet them right away. They’re talked about in the beginning but we only see them when Poirot goes to their cabin to question them for reasons I can’t remember (I recall he originally wasn’t going to. They were in a different car or diplomatic immunity or something idk I was born yesterday). Anyway him just showing up at the elusive count and countess’s later in the movie and turns out the whole time they were just in there doing hot people shit. They were in two scenes but really carried the film with their sexual energy.
General thoughts:
For the record, I wouldn’t recommend either of these movies. If this post inspired u to watch them for some reason, don’t you dare think of me. Goodnight.

(I want to say that I have no idea how to start a rant lmao)
I absolutely adore the idea of Rex Lapis just using his tail as a seat because sitting on the ground is for peasants- it's so funny yet fitting. And him being under 6 chains from how strong he is, is actually kind of hilarious lolol. His reaction to Gui made me very soft, it was also a little sad. The multiple info dumps from him hurt my brain, I do not have enough brain cells for this lmao. OH AND REX LAPIS HUGGING GUI UGH MY HEART
I really like the idea of Ajax being a descendent of both the Volchiy and the Zvezdochoty, it makes his ease with controlling hydro a lot more understandable and does clear up some details about Ajax. Now that I think about it- I remember that Nadya had hiden the fox trio in the forest, who says that she hadn't done the same in the original timeline and that Ajax' ancestors are one of those three? It would be really interesting and weird lolol.
Aspasia becoming the navigator after Basil dies somehow makes a lot of sense in my head, she just... fits the role? It also makes sense that Sophron would join the mutiny in the original timeline since, from what I understood, it was after(?) the split so Sophron, seeing how they were already thinking that mutiny was probs a good idea in the past celestia when Ajax got there, must've been tired of dealing with everything after the archon war, the cataclysm and then the split. So them joining Basil makes a lot of sense same with Pheynix who, if I recall properly, was on friendlier terms with Vinea then the other shades(I think? It's been a bit since I read that chapter where the two are introduced).
The interaction between older Skirk and Ajax at the start of chapter 48 just killed me, it was so funny seeing Ajax being completely oblivious to his injuries and Skirk just wrestling him into getting healed. And just him being like "Oh hey I got lightning scars on my arms, guess that explains the tingly feeling" like it's nothing-
The other Harbingers just being speechless and confused the entire chapter was so fitting. Morax and Ajax arguing was also just perfect, having Ajax trying so hard to make the things he did look less big then they are and Morax just completely shutting him down- And that part where Morax is like "Who's the martial god, huh? Who is it, God of Annihilation?" like plssss Morax is so sassy I love it.
Morax comparing himself to Rex Lapis just- ugh my little heart can be heard breaking. Don't worry, you'll get there honey-
ok. I think I said all I wanted to say... at least I can't think of anything else off the top of my head...
anyways thanks again for another celestial chapter! It was wonderful! Like always!
Oh and this might just be my personnal opinion but don't worry about the chapter lenght, I don't mind it being, like you said, "stupidly beastly" I actually love it like that, but I don't mind shorter chapters either! Don't force yourself to make longer chapters just for me haha
Anyways, have a great time, thanks again!
-Love, Nera, the 6reeze enthousiast <3
my average chapter lenght is like between 6k and 8k so whenever it exceeds that i'm just like- well i guess this is it hahah;;
the mutiny in the original timeline did come after the split, and yeah, pheynix is by far the shade on 'best terms' w celestia (mostly sophorn and the non-combatants) since she's the gentlest. i don't think i've put this anywhere in the fic yet and i don't think it's a spoiler so here, exclusive tumblr early access content (?): skirk is the god of death and istaroth is the god of time, so by that rule the other two are also gods of important things. i decided at the very start that andromache would be the god of justice (maybe a very specific justice so that it doesn't clash w focalors, just like how skirk is the god of death in battle/god of the slaughtered while istaroth is the god of time but as in moments/kairos), and pheynix would be the god of life (again, something more specific. idk, like- the kind of gentle hopeful life that's like those images of little growing plants in a field of nothing but ashes). that's why she's in charge of the garden, as sophron said; the inteyvat isn't strictly alive but it's the best they could give her to look after since they already had dendro gods in charge of the actual greenery of the island.
oop accidentaly infodumped there- it's the zhongli pfp curse. anyway, all that to say that you're spot on; everything that happened in the og timeline that hasn't yet happened (and won't) in the 'new' timeline kinda built up the idea of mutiny more and more. and so when the split happened, by far the most drastic and shocking event so far, and then asmoday and zagan decided to thanos snap the remaining population in a tantrum, sophron and pheynix n everyone else said "ok yeah fuck this we ball"
anyway uhhhh- thank you;;; <3 <3 <3 <3

Scorbus 😊😊 or whichever nextgen ship you want to talk about!
Cindle!!!! Lucky you, this came in twice. 😎 You know what that means! Yes, you're right: Danni taking every opportunity to just keep talking! 🤣 So since I already answered Scorbus, I shall think of another nextgen ship to chat at you about! I sort of waffled between James Sirius/Scorpius and James Sirius/Teddy, but I have to go Jeddy! It's the nextgen ship I've shipped the longest! (So yeah, I ship it!)
1.) What made you ship it?
I have no clue. Actually that's a lie, I have a small clue. My fic The Best Kept Secrets I first envisioned years ago. The original version was Snarry, Jeddy, and Scorbus. My main priority was Snarry, but I had goals for showing how James and Albus were impacted by the truth of Harry and Snape's relationship. The rewrite features Albus/OFC, but I kept the Jeddy!
Why I originally chose James Sirius/Teddy, I can't recall. Scorbus seemed the safe, obvious choice for Albus. Maybe it was the same for Jeddy. Just me needing someone to hook James up with and Teddy was it. But the more I wrote it, even the original version, the more convinced I became. For reasons I'll answer in the next question!
2.) What are your favorite things about the ship?
Cute baby age gap!! 🥹 Also the pseudo-incestuous nature of it. Teddy being James' godbrother, them more or less growing up together. I love the fanon idea of James sort of hero-worshipping Teddy and having a mega crush on him from practically birth, whereas to Teddy it's weird and awkward.
I don't generally jive with friends to lovers, but their specific connection is so interesting. This is one of few ships I ship with no real adversarial nature to it. They have a generally good relationship, almost brotherly in ways; Teddy feeling responsible for James, and almost brotherly while James has puppy love for Teddy.
I imagine them as both being playful, with James being a bit more mischievous and Teddy quite sweet. There is the added level of not only "ruining the friendship" but "ruining the family." Teddy's fears of losing Harry if he and James breakup. His worries about James being too young, too immature, etcetera. While Teddy is the only thing James was ever sure of and serious about. Idk, it does things to me. 🥰
3.) Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Not that I can think of!
ship asks
answered: Dramione, Snarry, Jegulus, Jily, Dron, Starbucks, Riddledore, Snupin, Remadora, Fleurmione, Snack, Snumbledore, Scorbus, Jeddy

2nd eruption was SO GOOD it actually took me months to finish because it was so heavy emotionally to get through. but A++ manga id recommend it to ppl who dont even play the game haha
im so glad you love fu hua omg, youre gonna be so happy even more so down the line. and that chapter youre on is when i started falling for the hi3 story, as well as the first open world. when you get to the first open world/finish its main story, let me know! i think that might be a good time to send you the sakukallen event. itll still be confusing without context but id more than love to share what i remember of the story surrounding it
hoyo definitely seems to have learned from each preceeding game in terms of chronology and making things "easier" to get into imo. but you mention you have ideas and speculation and i'm all *eyes emoji*. tell me them! i wanna hear!!!
and ty for the well wishes and for your kind words over the years. i feel like we've both grown so much and come so far, its quite breathtaking
YES!!! It was really good and such an emotional rollercoaster, but I loved getting to see Anti-Entropy and Schicksal actually working together since in game, someone (forgot who) was raising the question of both of them being rather similar in function and goal so it was cool to see them come together in a way (albeit the story getting rewritten that Schicksal was the one to fight on their own), and all the characters within the manga was soooo good ; w; As I said, it was supposed to last me a month but. I couldn't put it down asdkjlfah Even now I'm like "yay time for bed!! lets go read the manga :DD" and realize. I already finished it :x
FU HUA YAAAAY that's exciting to hear!! I'm already liking the potential tbh because like with some of the flashbacks in Second Eruption I was thinking like >:OOOO WAIT IS SHE THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF FENGHUANG??????? I had a speculation for a while anyways that Fu Hua is much older than she appears within the game and getting confirmation that she is in fact older made me go :O IT WAS ALREADY A LOT TO FIND OUT THAT SHE WAS THE IMMORTAL CELESTIA (read Elan Palatinus before) so I couldn't help but be fond of her heheh I'm super excited though :>
Do you mean Sakura Samsara? :0 I actually finished through the main story! And the...side? (Right now I feel like the side story ended abruptly or something. idk if I just have to level up to get more story? but-) That's how I got more attached to sakukallen (with uhh Gratitude Arc being what piqued my interest in them). If that's the open world you mean, then 👀👀eyyyy
forgive me..... my brain needs to be prompted about specific speculations bc my recall is so bad aklsjfh but!! if something comes up i'll dm you :>
:O actually that made me think...I didn't realize just how long we've known each other?? I honestly can't remember when we met (but I'm pretty sure it was when I was ending high school/starting undergrad), which means it has been quite a while!! Much time has passed, and we've experienced a lot with it but it is such a nice thought to think about growing together with a friend :'> And there's still more to come!! Isn't that great?? I hope that it'll be good for the both of us and we keep growing 💪🏼💪🏼

In regards to post/677028182159949824/i-wonder-how-many-secret-madrigalcest-shippers-are, I wish I could give you all the... safety? of what shipping was like in the 2000's. Like, it wasn't perfect, there were absolutely ship wars, but like, you might have quietly lost some friends, but no one would outright accuse you of being a pedo even if you shipped Sess/rin before yashahime was a sparkle in rumiko takahashis eye. And you couldn't swing a cat without hitting hiitachincest. :(
Ahhh my friends tell me about the old EA fandom and how it was born in a different era. Frozen was my first fandom actually, I was like... 11. And my only portal into the fandom was ff.net so I wasn't really talking to anyone. But the vibe I got was that... idk that things like EA were inevitable, that you couldn't stop people from shipping it and that there was no point in stopping it, and that the best thing you could do was to curate your own experience and blacklist the shit you didn't want to see. Most importantly, other people's ships may seem "gross" to me, but that didn't make them immoral or dangerous people. I could read someone's snow sister fic knowing they also wrote EA and not care. At the very worst, I would think they had bad taste, but also they wrote well so I was going to read their other work anyway. I don't doubt that, in part, that was me being 11 and naïve and thinking that, because it was everywhere and no one said anything about it, it must be cool. I'm not gonna pat 11 y.o me in the back for being so ahead of her time and smarter than twitter poop-talkers lol no I didn't have "critical thinking" I didn't know what I was looking at. I'm just recalling a memory.
The thing is that, as far as I remember, no one really said anything about it? Again, maybe I was just isolated, but I remember like one person saying they didn't like a specific EA fic, and that was kinda it. No one was writing "EA SHIPPERS FUCK OFF DO NOT FUCKING READ MY FICS IF YOU SHIP EA YOU FREAKS" on their author notes or putting "EA FREAKS DO NOT FUCKING INTERACT I WILL GUT YOU LIKE A FISH" on their profiles and no one felt the need to clarify "THIS IS NOT FUCKING INC3ST OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE I NEED TO SAY THAT" at the start if every fic. Folks in the comment section weren't mentioning EA. People would openly admit to shipping EA in the author notes of their snow sisters fics ("Oh, this was originally going to be EA, but I changed my mind because snow sisters fits it better") and no one would care. And I certainly don't remember anyone making cringe ass posts on ff.net that can't even be called stories because they're nothing but long rants about how bad shipcest is and how "I CAN'T BELIEVE I NEED TO BLACKLIST THE INC3ST TAG EVERY TIME I LOG IN" like certain baby-brained weirdos do in the Encant0 ao3 tag do. The Legend Of The Brave Tangled Dragons wiki even had all of these inc3st ship pages anyone could visit and find fanart in! I'm sure some people must have been quite disturbed by inc3st shipping but no one was shoving the discourse down your throat, forcing you to take a stand, posting shit like "dni if you don't have a dni" on their profiles or chasing shippers away and forcing them into isolated communities. The general idea seemed to be that "yeah it's weird and a bit gross but it's rude to judge". Maybe I was lucky enough to avoid the worst parts of the fandom? But idk it felt a lot less... systemic. it felt a lot less cultural. Like disliking a ship was something you did individually and casually, not something you would create a political party around like twitter antis do.
I would have LOVED to see even earlier times tho. I'm sure nostalgia is doing its part and that it wasn't nearly as idyllic as my friends tell me, but it would be nice to not be told to kill myself every day :)

4, 13, 22, and uh 40?
4. Do you write original stories as well?
yes! i would say probably 1/3 of the total words i've written this year were original fiction (or poetry or whatever). i write a lot of short stories, since i take a lot of creative writing workshops in college. i even got a short horror piece that i wrote in high school published in my school's literary magazine this year.
also i've been working since... idk, roughly july? on a science fiction novel. the premise has shifted around a LOT in development but on a basic level it's somewhere between space opera, cyberpunk, political satire, and slice of life. i sat here for like 15 minutes trying to come up with a better elevator pitch which would actually, like describe the plot somewhat, but honestly the plot is so much in flux that that would be impossible for me right now. long story short, robots are a metaphor for gay people but also there are actual gay people and also the robots themselves are explicitly gay. i post about it semi-regularly on @goldenhathor if anybody ever wanted to uhhh take a look.
13. What is your planning process?
generally, i have an idea, start writing, realize partway through writing it that things are Bad and i have no idea what i'm doing, frantically go back and sort of scaffold an actual story structure around what i've already written, use that to figure out what needs to come next to wrap everything up nicely, make a list of specific scenes that need to happen in order, and then write the remainder of the piece going down the list and checking things off. in the case of Brighter Fires, since it's longer than nearly everything else i've written, it's the same process but even more recursive - i've done the "go back and re-evaluate everything" step like a dozen times at this point.
22. Do you listen to music during your writing process? What music do you listen to while you’re writing?
actually... not really? at least, not while writing fiction. sometimes i'll put on a post-rock mix on youtube if im in a loud room or something. but generally even if i put music on, i'll just end up tuning it out if i'm writing.
40. Do you have any rituals before uploading a fic?
My very last step before actually uploading something is always finding the title. basically i just go through music and poetry which i recall vaguely touching on the themes i'm getting at in the piece. or if i can't find anything from that, i'll legit just google things like 'poems about winter' or whatever and find something that 1) i like and think is good on its own 2) again, reflects the themes i'm getting at in some way 3) has a line that stands on its own well enough to work as a title.
