Pour le sociologue Nicolas Duvoux, le mouvement de protestation a fait renaître une conscience de classe parmi les couches populaires.

Nicolas Duvoux est professeur de sociologie à l’université Paris-VIII. Il a codirigé, avec Cédric Lomba, l’ouvrage collectif Où va la France populaire ? (Presses universitaires de France, 120 p., 9,50 €), qui montre que la fragmentation du monde ouvrier est le principal facteur de son désarmement identitaire et politique.

On ne parle plus aujourd’hui de classe ouvrière, mais de classes populaires. Pourquoi ?

Parce que la réalité et la représentation sociales de ces groupes ont changé. Le monde ouvrier, depuis trente ans, a connu de très fortes évolutions avec l’accès à l’éducation, la tertiarisation des emplois et leur féminisation. L’image sociologique de ce monde-là au sortir de la seconde guerre mondiale était celle de l’ouvrier masculin qualifié de Billancourt. Il incarnait le groupe et lui donnait sa force.

C’était un univers soudé autour d’une forte centralité professionnelle et d’un mouvement social et politique capable d’agréger l’ensemble, pourtant disparate, même pendant les « trente glorieuses ». Cette unité n’existe plus. Les classes populaires sont aujourd’hui constituées de groupes éclatés.

Comment se définit alors ce monde populaire ?

Par ce qui l’unifie encore, à savoir sa position subalterne dans le monde socio-économique et la contrainte économique qu’il subit – celle des travailleurs qui ont des emplois d’exécutants et qui reçoivent des ordres. Ces modes de vie sont aussi un marqueur commun. Les classes populaires ont ainsi un attachement aux sociabilités locales et un fort sentiment d’appartenance au groupe, un sens du collectif qu’on ne perd pas.

Mais dans cet ensemble, des différenciations importantes sont apparues. On n’a pas la même vision du monde selon qu’on a un emploi stable ou précaire, selon qu’on réside dans une commune reléguée ou incluse dans une métropole, selon qu’on habite dans un petit pavillon ou dans un grand ensemble en banlieue, si on est en couple avec deux salaires ou une mère célibataire, si l’on appartient à une minorité visible ou non, etc.

Ce qu’il y a derrière cette appellation de classes populaires n’est donc pas un bloc homogène, mais un continuum qui va des strates les plus précaires – les allocataires des minima sociaux – jusqu’aux frontières inférieures des classes moyennes – ouvriers et employés qualifiés.

Comment ces écarts se traduisent-ils au quotidien ?

Par de petites variations de revenu ou de position sociale qui finissent par faire de grandes différences. Ainsi, la gestion des budgets familiaux n’est pas la même. Quand on est parmi les catégories les plus modestes, on trouve des conduites d’adaptation à la pauvreté. Certains, quand ils reçoivent leur salaire, mettent tout de suite de côté l’argent du loyer, réflexe qui assure au ménage qu’au moment des arbitrages à faire, ils ne seront pas réalisés sur un poste qui entraîne des dettes. D’autres ménages ayant des revenus presque identiques ne peuvent anticiper et vont se mettre dans le rouge.

Cet éclatement a affaibli l’identité collective. Comment ?

L’exigence d’égalité, cette vision du monde social fondatrice dans la manière dont les catégories populaires se perçoivent elles-mêmes – l’opposition entre le « nous » qui souffrons, qui exécutons les ordres, qui subissons, versus « eux », les puissants, les dominants, les élites –, existe toujours.

Mais cet ethos égalitaire a changé ces dernières années sous l’influence de ce que le sociologue Olivier Schwartz appelle la « conscience sociale triangulaire ». Les classes populaires s’identifient toujours comme un « nous », mais il y a désormais deux « eux » : ceux d’en haut, les riches, et ceux d’en bas, les assistés, ceux qu’on appelle les « cas soc » [cas sociaux]. Cette tension, qui est une nouveauté majeure, divise le groupe en opposant les catégories stabilisées, qui ont un emploi, et les plus paupérisés, qu’on stigmatise.

Le mouvement des « gilets jaunes » a-t-il réduit cette fracture ?

Le premier effet de cette mobilisation a été de faire réapparaître les classes populaires dans l’espace social. Le sentiment d’invisibilité, l’injustice, l’impression que les règles ne sont pas les mêmes pour tout le monde, ont formé un cocktail qui a été le moteur de cette explosion. On a vu que la revendication de dignité – « Pourquoi, en suivant les règles du jeu, on ne s’en sort pas ? » – a été très fortement portée sur les ronds-points et cette exigence constitue un facteur d’unité nouvelle.

Ce mouvement a aussi fait réémerger la frontière principale entre le « eux » des élites et le « nous » du peuple. La stigmatisation des assistés ou des immigrés s’est peu fait entendre sur les barrages, comme si la conscience de classe se réunifiait. La question est désormais de voir si les tensions internes entre les segments les plus stables et les assistés, apparues ces dernières années, vont reprendre le dessus ou si un bloc populaire unifié face aux élites va se reconstituer. La perspective de cette réunification peut inquiéter, et l’on comprend que les politiques cherchent à recréer des clivages au sein du monde populaire, comme l’a fait le président de la République en stigmatisant « ceux qui déconnent » en ouverture du grand débat national.

Damit kommen neue Zifferblätter und Apps auf die Uhr, unter anderem MySwimPro und eine Nachrichten-App, die sich aus Artikeln von Bild.de und weiteren deutschen Medien speist. Die Versa – und nur die – bekommt eine neue Benutzeroberfläche, die an das Siri Watch Face von Apple erinnert: Nutzer erhalten auf Wunsch zur Tageszeit passende Empfehlungen, Bewegungserinnerungen, Statistiken.

Wie gewohnt setzt Fitbit auf Individualisierbarkeit. Die Versa kommt standardmäßig mit roségoldenem Gehäuse und pfirsichfarbenem Armband, in silbernem Gehäuse mit grauem Band oder ganz in Schwarz. Die Armbänder lassen sich austauschen. Es gibt Varianten aus Leder, Textil, Stahl und Kunststoff. Die Fitbit Versa geht mit einer UVP von 199,95 Euro in den Verkauf. Wer ein besonderes Armband wählt, zahlt für die limitierte Special Edition 229,95 Euro. Damit bleibt der Hersteller deutlich unter dem Startpreis der ersten Smartwatch Fitbit Ionic, die im Herbst 2017 zunächst für 349,95 Euro in den Verkauf kam. Die Fitbit Versa ist bereits ein Verkaufshit, ein Preisvergleich lohnt (siehe idealo). estimmt haben Sie auch schon einmal bemerkt, dass die Akku-Anzeige Ihres Apple iPhone ab und an von Weiß zu Rot oder Gelb wechselt. ls 2011 das erste Galaxy-Note-Modell auf den Markt kam, war der Unterschied zur Galaxy-S-Serie noch glasklar zu erkennen: Das Galaxy Note bot nicht nur bereits den bis heute Serien-prägenden Bildschirmstift S-Pen, sondern auch eine für damalige Verhältnisse gigantisch wirkende Bildschirmdiagonale von 5,3 Zoll. Zum Vergleich: Das Galaxy S2 kam nur auf 4,3 Zoll – und bot dabei nicht einmal eine einfache HD-Auflösung. Doch mittlerweile hat sich die Smartphone-Welt weitergedreht: Alle Geräte sind gewachsen und seitdem Samsung im Fahrwasser von Apple zu jeder S-Klasse auch ein Plus-Modell präsentiert (2015 startete Samsung mit der Strategie – Apples iPhone 6 Plus hatte man damals das Galaxy S6 Edge Plus entgegengestellt), sind die Unterschiede zwischen Note- und S-Modellen zusammengeschrumpft. 2018 sieht die Lage wie folgt aus: Bereits das kleine Galaxy S9 bietet mit seiner 5,8-Zoll-Diagonale eine größere Bildschirmfläche als das erste Note-Modell. Für Fans von aktuellen Galaxy-Topmodellen mit großem Bildschirm bleibt die Wahl zwischen zwei Geräten: dem Galaxy S9 Plus und dem Galaxy Note 9. Aber welches ist für wen das beste Handy? Das zeigt das Duell der Galaxy-Spitzenklasse!

Zumindest die Frage nach der Größe ist schnell entschieden: Das Galaxy Note 9 kommt auf eine Bildschirmdiagonale von 6,4 Zoll, das Display des Galaxy S9 Plus bietet nur 6,2 Zoll. Im Größenduell gewinnt somit schon mal das Note 9, auch wenn der Unterschied wirklich nur auffällt, wenn man beide Geräte direkt nebeneinanderlegt. Wie aber sieht es mit den Messwerten aus? Auch hier gewinnt das Note-9-Display um Haaresbreite: Es ist minimal heller (923 gegenüber 893 Candela je Quadratmeter beim S9 Plus), deutlich kontrastreicher (24804:1 statt 11547:1) und genauso mäßig farbtreu (94,5 Prozent versus 94,4 Prozent).

Wer nur auf das Datenblatt schaut, findet keine Unterschiede: Beide Geräte haben auf der Rückseite eine Dual-Kamera mit zwei 12-Megapixel-Sensoren. Die normale Weitwinkellinse bietet dabei eine für Smartphone-Verhältnisse seltene variable Blende zwischen f/1.5 und f/2.4. Dazu gibt es eine Tele-Linse mit doppeltem optischen Zoom. Videos sind in 4K möglich, bei Verzicht auf die optische Bildstabilisierung sogar mit 60 Bildern pro Sekunde (60 FPS) oder als Zeitlupenaufnahme mit 960 Bildern pro Sekunde (maximale Dauer bei Full HD: 0,2 Sekunden). Doch ob es an der Software liegt oder ob Samsung andere Linsen verwendet: Die Note 9-Kamera schnitt im Test deutlich schlechter ab. Vor allem Fotos bei wenig Licht zeigten weniger Details, stärkeres Bildrauschen und Kantenungenauigkeiten. Immerhin bietet die Kamera-App des Note 9 ein kleines Plus an Intelligenz, indem Sie die Belichtungseinstellung automatisch an erkannte typische Szenen und Motive anpasst und vor unscharfen oder verwackelten Aufnahmen warnt. Doch am Ende ist die Bildqualität wichtiger.

Schon die Standardvariante des Note 9 bietet mit 128 Gigabyte (GB) internem Speicher doppelt so viel Volumen wie die Einstiegsversion des S9 Plus. Gegen Aufpreis gibt es vom Note 9 sogar eine Modellvariante mit 512 GB internem Speicher, während beim S9 Plus bei 256 GB Schluss ist. Alle Modelle lassen sich per microSD-Speicherkarte um aktuell bis zu 512 GB erweitern und bieten als meist standardmäßig verkaufte Duos-Variante eine für Business-Nutzer praktische Dual-SIM-Funktion. Da bei Nutzung von Dual SIM aber keine Speicherkarte mehr hineinpasst, zahlt sich der große Speicher aus. Zudem lassen sich beide Galaxy-Modelle per Dockingstation – DeXStation oder DexPad – mit einem Monitor verbinden. Dadurch aktiviert sich der Desktop-Modus DeX mit Windows-ähnlicher Oberfläche und verbesserter Bedienung mit Maus und Tastatur. Vorteil Note 9: Hier reicht schon ein kleiner und günstiger USB-C-HDMI-Adapter für die Aktivierung des DeX-Modus, beim S9-Plus ist mit so einem Billigadapter nur die Bildschirmspiegelung möglich. Schade: Keins der Geräte nutzt den DeX-Modus über eine drahtlose Monitorverbindung (etwa per Miracast), obwohl Microsofts Lumia 950 das bereits 2015 beherrschte. Der größte Business-Vorteil für das Note 9 ist allerdings der S-Pen: Er ermöglicht nicht nur Notizen, sondern dient auch als Bluetooth-Fernsteuerung – etwa für Powerpoint-Präsentationen.

Mit seinem stärkeren Akku (4.000 Milliamperestunden) erreicht das Note 9 eine starke Laufzeit von 14:29 Stunden. So hält es rund eine Stunde länger durch als das Galaxy S9 Plus (3.500 Milliamperestunden). Schnelles Aufladen ist sowohl drahtlos möglich (Qi-Wireless Charging bis 10 Watt) als auch per Kabel über das mitgelieferte Schnelllade-Netzteil. Obwohl beide Geräte eine USB-Typ-C-Buchse besitzen, nutzt Samsung zum Schnellladen nicht den USB-C-Power-Delivery-Standard, sondern ein an Qualcomms Quickcharge angelehntes Verfahren. So lässt sich statt eines für die meisten Nutzer unpraktischen reinen USB-Typ-C-Kabels ein Kabel beilegen, das auf einer Seite den altbekannten großen USB-Stecker besitzt.

Though Dex has been watching Sven approach him with warmth and the love of a husband for ten years now, it still brings tears to his eyes on this particular day, to see the man come to stand in front of him at the altar. He can remember with absolute clarity the first time he was faced with this image:

Dex had only gotten to walk down the aisle first because he won a daring game of rock, paper, scissor during the planning stages of their wedding. The dampness in his eyes from seeing the love of his life walk to him didn’t falter the grin on his lips, but he couldn’t blink it away either.

“You look so fucking good,” he had chuckled once Sven took his hands. And then he looked to their officiant as if to boast, doesn’t he look so fucking good?

They celebrated Sven’s 51st birthday not too long ago but god, the man can still fill a suit. Dex is so involved in the thought he isn’t sure if he mistakenly says that out loud or not but he doesn’t even care. He can never take his eyes off Sven, never pretend that his husband isn’t the most glowing man in any room.

Even at the age of 37, Dex could hardly focus on the words that came from the officiant beside him, the beginnings of the ceremony or the warm words written to introduce him and Sven to their guests. He was preoccupied, easily falling prey to whispering to Sven through his grin, distracted from his own wedding.

He had to be prompted eventually to speak his vows, as he’d given up on paying attention altogether by then.

With a laugh he began, “Hey, remember that time I tried to date you and you said, ‘Excuse me what are you doing, back off?’”

“You did not try to date me then, you tried to kiss me,” Sven corrected through his own smile.

This time, when Dex begins the renewal of their vows by sharing the exact same anecdote, sticking to his word to never let it go, Sven just grins. His chin lowers slightly, though his eyes on Dex’s do not.

“I think I fell in love with you that very moment on principle alone,” Dex shook his head in amusement. “Do I look like anyone’s ever said no to me in my life?”

“You know, Sven, it took me 15 years to pinpoint this, but I fell in love with you before you even asked me out,” Dex chuckles. “It may have seemed like a mundane moment to anyone looking in from the outside, the sight of us sitting in the hospital cafeteria, catching a meal before one of us could be called away on an emergency. But even more so, two doctors of our caliber, going at it, arguing over the best procedures to follow, pointing with our French tries to make a point. But I was still smiling because to me, we weren’t just debating. You were challenging me, grounding me, pushing me to be sharper, stronger, more well-rounded. That was the moment I realized I needed someone like you- no, not just someone like you. I needed you.”

“Waiting for you to realize that we were meant to be together was the longest year of my life, Sven. The more time we spent together the more I realized you were the perfect partner for me. Be it from your work ethic, the things that made you laugh, how you took your coffee. It all fit against every part of me seamlessly. It was like something out there sewed you together piece by perfect piece just for me to have in this life.” Dex grinned at Sven, though his eyes began to shine and his throat tightened, simply overwhelmed with adoration for the man he was about to marry. He felt Sven’s thumbs rubbing over his skin soothingly and looked down to the gesture for a moment to gather himself.

“And I was right. Together we’ve been through some of the greatest challenges this world has to offer and even when I was weak and tired you still pushed me. Every time you laid in a hospital bed with me you made me stronger and each time you told me about our daughter and how much of a wonderful young woman she was becoming, you made me sharper. You kept me going at a time when my own physical self was giving up and I know from the bottom of my existence that I couldn’t have gotten through it without you.”

This is where Dex becomes choked up this time, with the last sentence he speaks. And instead of simply squeezing his hands this time, Sven tugs him closer to touch their foreheads. Both of their brows furrow to think of what they’ve survived and ultimately, it’s Sven’s whisper of, “I love you,” that lets Dex catch his breath.

“It’s true, you’re just as extraordinary a doctor as you are a father, as you are a man. And I would be a fool if I didn’t promise standing right here that I’ll be by your side till the day I breathe my last. Even then I’ll try to stay close and keep an eye on you. I know you need me to keep your feet on the ground just as much as I need you. We’re a perfect circle like that.”

“Sven, there isn’t a single promise we made to each other in fifteen years that we haven’t kept,” Dex builds his words up from an emotional whisper to a strong tone which the friends and family they’re surrounded by can sufficiently hear. “Even at our lowest we only made ones we could strengthen our bond with. But there’s just a few more I want to make to you today.”

“I promise that every long day we have will end with my arms around you anyway.”

“I promise I will carry our lives with me forever. Each and every moment of our story will be tucked away into my bones no matter where we go or what we do.”

“That you will always be the priority of my heart.”

“I promise that the pulse I was gifted with so many years ago will always be yours and yours alone to have and to hold.”

“And if I ever love another more than you then it’ll only be our daughter- and any more that we might invite to stain our nice furniture.”

“And if that pulse ever fades, know that it’s determination and sheer ability to love will live on in the perfect two young, beautiful people we’ve had the honor to call our girls.”

Dex and Sven both took a moment to glance in Lyla’s direction, who sat in the front row with her uncle Charlie. But as she met their happy gaze with her own, she sprung from her seat and ran to her parents. Dex easily scooped his beloved daughter into his arms with a laugh that rang out around them.

Ten years later, Lyla is the one with an arm around her little sister to keep the restless girl in her seat. Dex watches her lean over to kiss her sister’s hair and whisper something to her that makes the younger girl smile wider before she turns her attention back to their dads.

“Sven, I love you more than I could put into words. It’s just not possible to pull a feeling out of my very soul to show to the world,” Dex continued, though by the end of his sentence Lyla was reaching towards Sven to be held by him instead.

Sven just as happily took the girl, not caring that her shoes scuffed his suit, just that she pressed a kiss to his cheek as she settled in his arms.

“But I promise I’ll keep trying to find the right ways to tell you anyway. It’s a lifelong project I’m willing to take on, one that I’ll remind you of every day.”

“Sven Vogel, you are the better part of every bit of beating heart that I have. May we meet each other right back here, time and time again to talk like this without ever having to stop.”

Dex grinned at the man before him, eyes bright through their shine. He licked his lips, as though he might say more but instead, he stepped forward to kiss Sven deeply, a hand to his cheek.

“I love you, my dear. That’s all. I love you.”

And after those words, no force can stop Sven from rushing forward to kiss his husband’s lips, palms raised to Dex’s damp cheeks. He feels an intensity in him that he only has a decade before and he knows full well that true to Dex’s sentiment, they will find themselves here once more in 10, 20, 40 years.

But even after that, they will stand similarly together, be it in a different place or a different time.

Through the bustle of the warm, populated living room, Sven found himself laser-focused on only one thing. The very thing which had slowly consumed most parts of him over the last four years was now, at that moment, all he could bring himself to see, hear, and put his interest in. The form of Dexter D’Angelo, on the other side of the room, speaking animatedly with his hands, the boldest smile Sven had ever seen, entertaining people half his age that he’d met not an hour ago.

To Sven, even at the age of 58, Dex was the brightest star and he simply could not look away. He could only sit there on the sofa, far away, and imagine behind his eyes how it would feel to be by the side of such a striking energy. Sven had to dig the wedding band into his finger to tether his heart back to where it belonged. What kind of man was he, to be lost in the wonder of a man who was not his husband, at his granddaughter’s first birthday party, no less? The thoughts sank Sven’s stomach steadily, second by second.

And of all the surrounding people engaged in conversation, in drinks, in laughter, in enjoying friends and family, there was only one who noticed the faint furrow in Sven’s brows, the distance of his mind from his physical form.

“Feeling okay, dad?” A gentle hand came to rest over the back of Sven’s and when he looked over, his daughter-in-law was gazing at him with eyes as perceptive as her father’s.

It was still new for Sven to hear the title in her doting voice but ever since Lyla had married Nils, she grew closer to Sven than she had been her entire life. As though she embraced that marrying his son meant being a part of his family in a different way than she had been since she could walk, run, and jump. That their futures were tied together now and she would be steadfastly by Nils’s side when the roles one day reversed and the kids were the ones looking after their parents.

Sven returned to his reality with a soft sound and pressed a small smile to his lips, nodding. “Just fine, Lyla, thank you. Perhaps a little tired,” he answered, peppering the second sentiment in so she wouldn’t feel brushed off. He wasn’t lying, he could lie down.

Lyla’s smile grew more soothing somehow and she tilted her head to the side, as though she didn’t quite accept his reasoning. She shifted the baby in her arms closer towards Sven and cooed to her, “What do you think, Nov? Will you join your grandad for a nap later?”

Nova laughed happily at her mother’s tone of voice and then followed her gaze to Sven. The recognition in her eyes of her grandfather was accompanied by a blossoming smile and she reached a hand for his beard, a favorite way to inflict what she perceived as slapstick injury to him.

Sven noticed that Lyla was watching him, waiting to see if her actions helped to make him smile and he indulged because, well, of course, they did. The little girl between them was his whole heart and he certainly could forget the world for her for now.

Of course, the fates would grant Sven no such luck as their tender moment was interrupted by none other than Dex’s voice, calling over for his daughter, his toothy grin aimed right in their direction.

Lyla nodded to her father, indicating she was coming and adjusting Nova in her arms, she leaned in towards her father-in-law to speak to him quietly.

“Let me know if you need anything, even if it’s a distraction so you can stealth your way out for a break, okay?” she offered along with her knowing smile.

Nova cooed as her mother stood, drawing her away from her grandfather and Lyla rubbed her baby’s back. “I know, you miss daddy, he doesn’t make you go around saying hello to everyone like this,” Sven heard her speak lovingly before she kissed Nova’s dark hair.

His line of vision followed her to where she stopped briefly to check in with her husband and Sven couldn’t help but think to himself, this was it. This was all his mind and heart were at war for; the happiness of the family he worked so very long and hard to deserve.

As he stood himself, intending to move somewhere the view was a bit different, Sven exhaled deeply. It was worth it. It was worth it. It was worth it.

Ob das alles wirklich notwendig und sinnvoll ist, sei dahingestellt, zumindest aber hat man das Kern-User-Interface mittlerweile recht gut im Griff. Über die Jahre hat man dabei viele Inkonsistenzen beseitigt, und tatsächlich wird Android dabei auch um das eine oder andere sinnvolle Feature erweitert. Trotzdem regt sich bei der Nutzung schnell der Wunsch, dass Samsung seine Softwareausstattung wieder einmal grob aufräumt. Über die Jahre sind hier viele Dinge hinzugekommen, deren Nutzen zweifelhafter Natur ist, und die in der Kategorie Gimmick zu verbuchen sind. Das beginnt schon bei der Einrichtung mit einer schier endlosen Reihe an Dialogen, die einen zur Nutzung aller möglichen Dienste drängen wollen – und das noch dazu äußerst wortreich, so dass man schnell einfach nur mehr alles wegklicken will.

Und das setzt sich dann fort mit zahlreichen Extra-Buttons und Gesten, die eher im Weg stehen, als wirklich nützlich zu sein. screenshots. andreas proschofsky / der standard Der Homescreen von Samsung ist an sich recht aufgeräumt. Viel mehr erfreut aber, dass viele der Apps mittlerweile beim Setup abgewählt werden können. Im Bild rechts ist das absolute Minimum an fix vorinstallierten Apps zu sehen. (wobei hier am Anfang zwei Folder mit zwei bzw. vier weiteren Apps abgebildet sind) Große Ambitionen All die Aktivitäten Samsungs rund um Android zeichnen ein klares Bild: Man will mehr als einfach nur ein Hardwarehersteller sein. Jemand, der selbst ein eigenes App- und Service-Ökosystem betreibt, über das man die Kunden an sich binden kann, damit diese nicht einfach zur Konkurrenz wechseln können.

Das ist strategisch gesehen zwar durchaus nachvollziehbar, hat aber ein klitzekleines Problem: Bisher ist Samsung noch mit jedem dieser Versuche gescheitert, wie eine lange Liste an eingestellten Apps und Services belegt. Doch so einfach gibt sich Samsung natürlich nicht geschlagen. Wieso denn bloß??? Der aktuelle Hoffnungsträger nennt sich Bixby und ist Samsungs Version eines digitalen Assistenten. Der Hardwarehersteller hält diese Entwicklung dabei für so zentral, dass er ihr sogar einen eigenen Knopf an der Seite des Geräts spendiert. Das war zwar auch schon beim S8 und Note 8 der Fall, nun soll aber – nach massiver Kritik an der ersten Version von Bixby – alles besser werden. Der Assistent habe in der Zwischenzeit massiv dazugelernt, sagt Samsung. Sagt der Tester: Hat er nicht. Wie man es auch drehen und wenden mag, Bixby ist einfach nicht gut.

Die Antworten sind oftmals erratisch, die gebotenen Möglichkeiten weit von dem entfernt, was der Google Assistant bietet, und auch mit Alexa kann man in vielerlei Hinsicht nicht mithalten. Und dann kommt noch die schlichte Realität dazu, dass so ein Assistent eben umso besser funktioniert, je mehr Daten der Hersteller über seine Nutzer hat – und hier fehlen Samsung dann einfach wieder zu Google vergleichbare – und auch wirklich genutzte – Dienste. Doch selbst wenn Bixby besser wäre als er ist, wäre die Entscheidung dafür einen eigenen Knopf dafür zu verbauen, zweifelhaft. Immerhin ist die Nutzung solcher Assistenten am Smartphone ganz generell noch ein Randthema.

Doch anstatt sich dieser Realität zu stellen, legt Samsung sogar noch nach: Beim Note 9 lässt sich der Bixby-Knopf nämlich gar nicht mehr deaktivieren – am S9 ging das noch. Zynische Naturen könnten hier einen Plan vermuten, die Nutzungszahlen nach oben zu treiben. Macht doch – mutmaßlich – der unabsichtliche Aufruf über den Hardware-Button einen bedeutenden Teil der Bixby-Nutzung aus. Softwareauswahl Dass die Softwareausstattung beim Note 9 umfangreicher als bei vielen anderen Smartphones ausfällt, wurde bereits erwähnt. Allerdings gibt es in dieser Hinsicht auch Erfreuliches zu erwähnen: Mittlerweile sind nämlich viele der weniger wichtigen Samsung-Apps nicht mehr von Haus aus vorinstalliert. Bereits beim Setup des Geräts kann die Installation einer Vielzahl von Apps unterbunden werden, die Palette reicht dabei vom Samsung Internet Browser bis zum eigenen Mail-Client und dem Taschenrechner. Interessant ist auch der Umgang mit Google-Apps: Ein Teil davon wird ebenfalls erst während des Setups installiert, darunter etwa Duo, Google Play Music oder auch Google Photos.

Das bedeutet, dass sie im Nachhinein von den Nutzern problemlos komplett deinstalliert werden können. Eine Entwicklung, die durchaus erfreulich ist, von Samsung aber auch verblüffend inkonsequent umgesetzt wird. So sind etwa eine ganze Reihe von Microsoft-Apps fix vorinstalliert. Darunter neben den diversen Office-Apps und OneDrive mittlerweile auch LinkedIn. Aber immerhin: Die Entwicklung geht in die richtige Richtung. screenshots: andreas proschofsky / der standard Die Qualität und Sinnhaftigkeit von Samsungs eigenen Android-Anpassungen variiert stark. Im Bild Bixby Home, die Galerie und die Gerätewartung. Zum Entsperren des Geräts empfiehlt Samsung mittlerweile eine Mischung aus Gesichts- und Iris-Erkennung. Zumindest bei guten Lichtverhältnissen funktioniert das auch halbwegs brauchbar. Das ändert aber nichts daran, dass ein Fingerabdruck weiterhin schneller und zuverlässiger arbeitet – und mit vergleichbaren Level an Sicherheit zu Apples Face ID kann die Samsung-Lösung ebenfalls nicht aufwarten. Beim Note 9 klappt das Ganze zum ersten Mal ohne eigenes Dock, es reicht also, via passendem Kabel einen Monitor anzuschließen und schon kann es losgehen. Zumindest in der Theorie. In der Praxis braucht man für produktives Arbeiten natürlich noch eine externe Tastatur und eine Maus sowie das passende USB-C auf HDMI-Kabel, um die Verbindung zum Bildschirm herzustellen. Und genau da zeigt sich schon das grundlegende Problem dieser Idee: Im Endeffekt ist es meist einfacher, auf Reisen gleich einen Laptop mitzunehmen, und die Daten automatisch zu syncen, anstatt Peripherie einzupacken und sich dann mit der Verkabelung in einem Hotel herumzuschlagen. DeX ist, wie ähnliche Lösungen anderer Hersteller zuvor, einfach eine in der Theorie nett klingende Angelegenheit, die in der Praxis bisher aber kaum Anhänger gefunden hat. Kontostand: -viel Bleibt noch eine entscheidende Frage: Was kostet der Spaß?

Und hier wird so mancher Interessent schlucken müssen: Das kleinere Modell mit 6 GB RAM und 128 GB lokalem Speicher ist für 999 Euro zu haben, während für die größere Ausführung mit 8 GB RAM und 512 GB Speicherplatz gleich 1.249 Euro veranschlagt werden. Dabei sind Varianten in den Farben Schwarz, Blau und Violett erhältlich, wobei die Verfügbarkeit bei verschiedenen Anbietern variiert.
