I know this isn’t how Mind Flayers work but imagine (I guess they’d explode out of your head chest burster style, or something???)

Guess who fell into Baldur's Gate 3 hell (and more specifically, Astarion brainrot)? That's right, me.
Meet my tiefling Tav, a former oathbreaker Paladin now more versed in the Cleric class. She's 30 years old. The picture on the right is a concept for some post-BG3 events.
Lore below. (TW: implied SA)
A former Paladin, Tav became an oathbreaker when the Lord she faithfully served for years refused to save her and her platoon from a group of mercenaries who captured them.
The mercenaries kept her as a "tool" to use. At least until the night Raphael appeared in her prison cell and proposed her a deal: "Your freedom for... A little favor that will be revealed to you in due time"
Tav accepted and, with the powers granted to her by Raphael, destroyed her captors and fled. Rumors of a vengeful fallen knight started circulating around the Forgotten Realms - simply known as "The Blackguard", almost like a ghost, no one knew if the rumors were true or just some tale.
Eventually, she arrived to Faerun and all the events Baldur's Gate 3 happened. Her attention was quickly caught by a certain vampire elf.
Tav and Astarion's relationship at first was as you could imagine - he was annoyed at her altruism (she's a former Paladin after all) but she was intrigued and felt there was more to him than he'd show.
Of course, they eventually started to trust each other enough to come out with their traumatic pasts and slowly heal together. They eventually ended up as a couple and. They're VERY cuddly/soft lol.
NOW. For the Lore I have cut, but was in the early drafts:
Raphael would later appear to her and demand his payment for her freedom - the soul of the people she loves the most. Breaking the contract would mean her death.
She would suddenly start to become distant from Astarion, so there'd be lots of angst involved because she can't mention her contract. At the end Tav would die in his arms because she refuses to give Raphael his soul. :)))))
Current lore is:
As exchange for her freedom, Raphael demands her to serve him twice the years she worked for her former Lord - so about 20. He adds an extra year each time Tav requests more of what she was initially given - for example, in some occasions, she can ask him to "guide her" which gives her momentary stuff like wings and her appearance get closler to Raphael's himself. She has used these only twice in her whole life - the night she escaped her captors and when she faced Cazador.
Now if she has to be his servant for 20+ years or not will depend if the team gets to defeat him or not...
[POST BG3]
(This is still rough because I haven't planned it fully yet)
Being a tiefling, Tav's lifespan is much shorter than Astarion's (who didn't Ascend and can't turn her). She undergoes the True Polymorph spell to become a High Elf like him so that their lifespans are equal.
Fluff ensues. I love soft happy endings man. They're a very loveydovey couple haha
